  • A heart-wrenching tale about Animal Crossing

We're not going to lie, this story moved us - not only for its content, but also because someone managed to use the YTMND format in a way that actually enhanced the storytelling process. This touching tale tells of the impact that Animal Crossing had on an ill family member. We don't want to spoil it, so check it out for yourself. The story is from "a member in IGN" and illustrated by ONESOUND from This Is Game. If YTMND isn't your thing, you can also view a full-sized copy of the comic here and save it for later, or print it out and show your loved ones.Update: As reader RySenkari has warned, the YTMND link had been "altered" to shy people away from the link, and the subsequent imagery was NSFW (try going to the site via Digg and you'll get an idea of what we're talking about). If you're sending this to family members or just don't want to risk seeing such things, we recommend either typing the URL in a separate window or just taking a look at the full-sized comic that we're hosting at the moment.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

  • Animal Crossing story makes us sob like little babies [update 1]

What better way to start off a Monday than with a good cry?Just watch this story about a mother and her love for Animal Crossing, and we dare you not to feel anything. Even the most robotic, evil, and cynical of souls will feel this tug at their heart strings. There's really nothing profound enough that we can say about this tragic tale, except that it teaches a good lesson about taking the people you love for granted.Note: We know that the version portrayed here is the GameCube version, but since the game was quite the darling on the DS, we thought it would fit well here.Update: Due to YTMND antics (that will teach us to link there again), the flash has been messed with and we warn you not to go to the YTMND site as it's very NSFW. Instead, we posted the pictures with an English translation after the break. It doesn't have the same effect, but it's still a touching story nonetheless!

  • World of Cryingcraft

This one gave me a good chuckle: "World of Cryingcraft" is a deadpan voice reading of the various self-contradicting complaints you always hear about different classes. I could swear I've read a lot of these exact words before on the forums many, many times, so it's quite refreshing to hear them absuldly read aloud in what sounds to me like a cheery computer voice. I especially like how the voice uses all the silly forum language as if it were perfectly natural, such as when he says, "Sometimes I dodge them and then they overpower my face off for literally 2000 damage." and "Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. You know what else is stupid?" (as if we'd really like to know).Be warned that there's lots of cheerful-but-nasty swearing in this (so it's not so safe for work or kids), as well as a surprise ending once the topic turns to shamans. If you really hate swearing (or hold very strong opinions about class complaints) you may not find this very funny, but if you think all the class crying is absurd, you'll probably enjoy it.[Via AFK Gamer]

  • Shade of Aran chant, and other WoW fun on YTMND

So inside Karazhan, there's a boss called the Shade of Aran. He's Medivh's father, actually-- or, more specifically, the spirit of Medivh's father. He's a crazy mage with all kinds of casting abilities, one of which is called Flame Wreath. Flame Wreath targets 3 random people in the raid. If everyone is spread out enough that no one is close to those three players, nothing happens. But if people are close to them, a ring of fire shoots out around the player, and anyone who crosses through it will cause everyone in the room to get hit for 3000-4000 damage. For this reason: I will not move when Flame Wreath is cast or the raid blows up. That's one of the best sounding WoW YTMNDs I've seen, but it's definitely not the only one. You could always check out Riker getting disappointed, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, a little Alliance vs. Horde DDR, or the Patch Day Simulator. YTMND is such a crazy form of expression, but it's no surprise, considering the two cultures, that WoW and their sites find so much common ground.[ Thanks Markalept and Druid dude! ]

  • Sega lawyers harass YTMND

We saved this post for after midnight, because the linked-to content features some racy rap in response to a cease-and-desist letter Sega Europe allegedly sent to YTMND on January 11, 2007. (Click subsequent links herein at your own risk.) Sega's lawyers maintain that consumers "may be confused into believing that [Sonic-related YTMNDs are] in someway [sic] linked to or associated with [Sega]." Ok, pop quiz time. Reader, tell us, are you confused between this site and this site? How about between this site and this site? Or this one and this one? Didn't think so. Therefore, a little anger on the part of the YTMND community seems warranted. Sega just threw water an on oil fire. This response, in particular, seems particularly creative. Check it out, but brace yourself for some salty language. We've left a voicemail with Sega Europe's legal department, we'll let you know if we hear back from them. The animated .gif addicts over at YTMND have been very busy lately revealing the truthiness behind recent video game rumors.
