Now that we've got the white-knuckle excitement of the Yoto M300's Asian-only deut out of our systems, we're getting hit with a sequel, the M400. Basically the same codec-friendly non-touchscreen PMP as the M300, it looks like the M400 features slightly better build quality in addition to adding PlayFX and TV-out. Oh, and it's not a render, so that's another tick in the plus column. Still, we're not quite convinced we're willing to travel to China and drop our hard-earned yuan on this bad boy yet -- let's see what the inevitable M500 has to offer.

[Via PMP Today]
Filed under: Portable Audio, Portable Video

Yoto M400: like the M300, but for real this time originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 22 May 2008 09:02:00 EST. If you absolutely can't stand life without a widescreen PMP one more moment, Yoto just might have you covered. Sure, the M300 looks like a lot of other "all screen" media players out there, but can those other models handle AVI, DIVX, MPEG4, RM, XVID, RMVB, FLV, MP3, WMA, FLAC, APE, JPEG, GIF, and BMP files? Do they have 400 x 240 WQVGA screens? Are they made by Yoto? If you answered "no" to any of those questions, you're not talking about the Yoto M300 -- and you're hurting our feelings. You might pause at the apparent compatibility issues (Windows 2000 and Windows XP only?), and maybe this doesn't actually have a touchscreen, and sure, it was never really cleared of those murder charges... you know on second thought, maybe this isn't such a good investment.

[Via PMP Today]
Filed under: Portable Audio, Portable Video

Yoto's M300 PMP plays just about everything, won't gossip about you originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 05 May 2008 03:02:00 EST. Featuring a 2-inch QVGA screen, the T-21 is even capable of AVI playback at up to 30fps, which bests both the Clix and its real fake counterpart. It'll also let you play your MP3s, Flash movies, browse photos and text, and has a built-in FM tuner. As usual, there's no word on whether the device will be available outside of Asia, but we'd advise that you don't get your hopes up: these kind of unbelievably great value players have a habit of sitting just across the Pacific, perpetually taunting us with their low price tags.
Filed under: Portable Audio, Portable Video

Yoto T-21 offers portable media playback for $50 originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 28 Aug 2006 03:31:00 EST.
