When the AC/DC standalone expansion disc was announced for Rock Band 2 we silently wondered, since the pack is its own title will it have its own achievements? The answer is yes. According to the Rock Band forums, one of the Harmonix developers has confirmed the AC/DC pack will include its own achievement list. HMXHenry wrote: "There will be unique Achievements and Trophies for the AC/DC Track Pack, as well as several that are song specific." Now the question remains, will it add a gamerscore to Rock Band 2 during transfer or will the achievements only be available while playing from the AC/DC disc? We'll update you as more details are released.[Thanks, HazyCloud]

Speaking to Variety, Paul DeGooyer of MTV Games clarified a couple of elements concerning the AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack. The game will be available exclusively at Walmart. The tracks are exclusive to Rock Band for "a term" but no specific timetable has been set. AC/DC members won't appear as avatars in the game, you'll just be covering the songs. The game will feature partial functionality when compared to the other Rock Band titles: "All four instruments (guitar, bass, drums, mic) are used, you can "tour" through all 18 songs on your own or in a group, there are score duels and tug of war. However, there's no online capability ... In addition, there's no character creator."Now we have some good news and some bad news. The good news is, all the songs on the AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack can be ripped onto the PS3's hard drive, free of charge. They will now function like any other tracks you have downloaded from the PS Store (including online capabilities). The bad news is, you can transfer the songs once. This is done so you can't simply share the disc with your friends or resell the disc once you have transferred the tracks.[Via X3F]

  • Rock Band AC/DC tracks can only be transfered once per disc

After yesterday's announcement of the AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack, featuring all the tracks from the Live at the Donington album, Variety got a few more details from MTV's Paul DeGooyer. Most importantly, DeGooyer said the transfer can only be done once per disc, confirming initial indication of a download code printed on the game manual and expectedly void after use. Hear that gurgle? That's the collective sound of all those Blockbuster patrons' sinking hearts. The Track Pack disc also lacks a character creator and has no online play, although you can use the AC/DC tracks online with RB1 and RB2. Unlike Guitar Hero Aerosmith, you will not be playing as the band. The good news is that all songs will be available immediately -- no need to wade through "Whole Lotta Rosie" to play "Heatseeker."And if you're wondering whether or not "Thunderstruck" will be making a cameo on Guitar Hero: World Tour, DeGooyer said that AC/DC are exclusive to Rock Band "for a term" but provided no information on whether or not there will be future DLC from the band. The AC/DC Track Pack will be rocking and saluting in early November.[Via X3F]

  • Rock Band's AC/DC package comes complete with fine print

Some of the fine print for Rock Band's upcoming AC/DC track package has been clarified thanks to a report by Variety. What we can now confirm is the 18 song pack will be a standalone product that can be played by itself or transferred to an Xbox 360 and act as downloadable content for Rock Band or Rock Band 2.The standalone version will feature most, but not all, of the features found in both Rock Band titles. Players can play all four instruments (vocals, guitar, bass and drums), will not play as AC/DC themselves but as standard in game avatars because the product features no character customization. Players can participate in a tour style mode which plays through the entire set list, participate in tug-of-war and a score duels mode but the disc itself does not support online play.In order to get online with the AC/DC tracks players must transfer the songs to their hard drive, as was required to play Rock Band songs in Rock Band 2 - which also opens up other restrictions such as character customization. Where things get hairy is that transferring the package can only be activated "once per disc," to prevent players from buying one copy and sharing the music with other machines. The information was parsed from Paul DeGooyer, senior VP of electronic games and music at MTV who also stated the AC/DC tracks were only exclusive to Rock Band for "a term."
