Netflix had a lot riding on The Irishman -- the Martin Scorsese crime saga starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. The film has been in the works for almost a decade, and Netflix, which reportedly invested as much as $200 million, has been involved for years. So, the company is understandably braggadocious that, in The Irishman's first seven days on the platform, it was watched by 26.4 million accounts globally -- 26,404,081 to be precise.

We've been waiting for the debut of Netflix's The Irishman -- Martin Scorsese's crime drama starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci -- for two years. And the film has reportedly been in the works for almost a decade. As we learned last month, The Irishman will get a swanky world premiere as the New York Film Festival opener on September 27th. Now, Variety reports that it will land in theaters as a limited release on November 1st. It'll hit the streaming service just a few weeks later, on November 27th.

If there was any doubt that Netflix was hunting for awards with Martin Scorsese's The Irishman, it just got erased. The streaming service has released a teaser (really, a first trailer) for the mob epic, and it's clear the movie is a callback to Scorsese classics like Goodfellas and Casino in more ways than one. There's the premise, for a start -- it shows the evolution of the Mafia over decades through the perspective of the hitman who claimed to have killed Jimmy Hoffa. However, it's the acting talent that's on clearest display here.

Scarface Limited Edition Blu-ray says hello September 6th (trailer)
Yet another classic arrives in HD this fall when Universal releases the Scarface Special Limited Edition Blu-ray. It's getting a premium treatment too, with Steelbook packaging, 7.1 DTS-HD MA audio, art cards, and even the 1932 original version of Scarface on DVD. Universal's packed in the extras on the disc too, including a couple of U-control add-ons that keep track of both F-bombs dropped and bullets fired, plus picture-in-picture breakdowns with director Brian De Palma, Al Pacino, Screenwriter Oliver Stone and more. You broke my heart!"Like everyone else, we imagined Linebeck, Phantom Hourglass' cowardly sailor seaman, as the Jack Sparrow character he was more than likely modeled after. We never really connected him with Al Pacino, but artist Margeaux McClelland insists that the two are one and the same, reading the mariner's lines with the Scarface star's raspy voice.Margeaux went so far as to paint Pacino's likeness in Linebeck's threads, complete with his flamboyant red scarf. We still don't see the resemblance, but it's a great piece, nonetheless! (We won't ever take sides with anyone against the family.)
