Dream Quest Games asked for $50,000 on Kickstarter to fund Alpha Colony, a building and trading sim for PC, Mac, Android and iOS. On the final day of its Kickstarter campaign, when the clock hit zero, Alpha Colony had a total of $49,972. Kickstarter is all-or-nothing, meaning with just $28 to fulfill its goal, Alpha Colony's funding was unsuccessful and Dream Quest received nothing."Thank you all for your support, but I am afraid that we came up $28 short on our Alpha Colony Kickstarter," Dream Quest wrote as a final update. "I know many of you offered to increase your pledges or suggest that we simply redo the Kickstarter again, but Kickstarter is very strict about their terms and (for now) our project will not be funded. Obviously, we are very disappointed."Dream Quest already invested 10 months and $60,000 of its own money into Alpha Colony, and this is the game's second Kickstarter attempt. The first Kickstarter for Alpha Colony raised $100,000, but the goal was $500,000, and Dream Quest canceled it to begin the second, less ambitious project.Members of Dream Quest said they would continue to push Alpha Colony in the future, throwing updates on Facebook, but for now they need to feed their families and will focus on projects that can generate immediate income.
