Terraria, Re-Logic's 2D sandbox adventure game, surpassed a combined 1.3 million full-game downloads on iOS and Android. The game first arrived on iOS in August 2013 and on Android in September. Additionally, publisher 505 Games announced that Terraria recently achieved one million downloads in total across Xbox 360, PS3 and PS Vita, the latter of which arrived in December. Andrew Spinks, the creator of Terraria, first divulged plans for the game's sequel in October, but was careful to note that it wasn't in development at the time. Spinks later said he'd like to code Terraria 2 in a more portable language so he can bring the game to multiple platforms closer to its PC launch, though Nintendo's 3DS is likely not in the cards for the sequel. Terraria creator Andrew Spinks has plans to bring the RPG's sequel to multiple plaforms close to the release of the PC game. Spinks told Pocket Gamer he wants "to code Terraria 2 in a more portable language so it can be released on multiple platforms at launch or close to launch." One platform the game won't appear on is Nintendo's 3DS, though. "3DS is something I was very interested in getting Terraria on but the system unfortunately cannot run Terraria the way it needs to be ran," he added. Spinks discussed his plans for Terraria 2 earlier this month, saying that while the game is not yet in development, he would like for it to feature "infinite worlds" for players to travel between. The original game is expected to be updated further, with its version 1.2 patch arriving at the beginning of October, though the developer said he has considered bringing a small team in to offer support for Terraria while he moves on to Terraria 2.

Terraria creator Andrew Spinks recently discussed his plans for Terraria 2, the direct sequel to the popular RPG from developer Re-Logic. "Terraria 2 is definitely something that will be happening but contrary to several of the articles that went live today I have not started development," Spinks told Joystiq. "I have a list of features and mechanics I want the game to have but that is the extent of the development at this point." As far as those features are concerned, Spinks told Rock Paper Shotgun that while Terraria 2 is "a ways out," it will "have a lot in common with the original. It's gonna be quite different as well. I really want to expand on the whole Terraria universe." Spinks said that he is "locked" in to some of Terraria's established mechanics, such as "the way loot works" and "the way character progression works." With Terraria 2, Spinks said he wants "to have infinite worlds so you're not just stuck to one world. You can travel anywhere. I want more biome diversity in that, too." As for Terraria, he added that the recently-launched version 1.2 will probably be "the last seven-month update" for the original game, but that he plans to finish the "endgame progression" for the update "within the next month or two," as the update didn't include a final boss. He noted that while there may be other updates three or four months down the road, he has "looked into maybe hiring another small team to continue updates while I move onto Terraria 2."
