So one of the new changes coming in Patch 3.3.3 is that one will be able queue up using the dungeon finder in order to fight world event bosses such as the Crown Chemical Trio or the Headless Horseman. However, the actual extent of the changes is a bit more involved, as Zarhym clarified in a recent forums post. Here's the rundown:

  • Varian Wrynn is Right

Warning: This article contains spoilers of varying intensity for the Wrathgate world event, the new Arthas Novel , and the Warcraft Comic Series. It is also 3 pages long. Be sure to click the links at the bottom to head to the next part!Among WoW players these days, it seems to be a popular opinion that King Varian Wrynn is a narrow minded short-sighted bigot who will lead the Alliance to ruin. This is an easy opinion to have, since he does show a considerable amount of anger at times when dealing with the Horde, and it's long been the general opinion that "no-one is truly evil" in the Horde and Alliance conflict. This is even the opinion of some of my fellow writers. Here's my problem with this: The underlying causes of Varian Wrynn's anger are all unconditionally justified. Varian Wrynn is not angry at the Horde because of a series of misunderstandings and misinterpretations. He's been witness to or victim of multiple wrongdoings and atrocities perpetuated by the Horde time and time again, both the new Horde and the Old. Most, if not all of these times, the wrongdoings have been the result of outright maliciousness on the part of the Horde or its members, and in the case the so-called "peaceful" New Horde, there's been no sign whatsoever that Thrall is punishing or disciplining the perpetrators of these acts, and at the least, it is clear that he is not properly dealing with the consequences.

Patch 1.2 brought many changes to crafting in Warhammer Online. The biggest change is that it paired up two different gathering skills for each main crafting profession and introduced dozens of new items. Part one of Mythic's feature on the new crafting system gives us a look at Apothecary and its two supportive gathering skills, Cultivation and Butchering. Those with the Apothecary crafting skill can create potions and armour dyes. There are three basic parts to making a potion: a container, main ingredient (which comes from Cultivation or Butchering), and stabilizer. You can replace one or two of the stabilizers with a special ingredient that will augment your potions (stronger, longer durations, more quantities, etc.). However, not using enough stabilizers will make the potion volatile and potentially fail.Cultivation is a gathering skill for all the green thumbs out there. You basically need a seed, some soil, and water to create a plant. The nice part about this gathering skill is that it is self-sustaining since you can harvest new seeds from your own plants. Butchering will appeal to the hunter-gatherers. You kill an animal and sift through its entrails for all sorts of goodies that might enhance your potions. Stay tuned for part two, which will probably cover Talisman Making, Salvaging, and Scavenging.

  • A fundamental guide to crafting in Warhammer Online

By now, you've probably spilled just enough blood in Warhammer Online to keep up that thirst for more, and crafting might be the last thing on your mind. Fortunately, the crafting system in WAR is effective and functional enough to interest the brightest of the Bright Wizards and easy enough that any Greenskin can get the hang of it very soon. We're willing to also bet that most players haven't really paid attention to the crafting system until they realized that their inventory is quickly filling up with all these crazy seeds and pieces of ruined equipment. Crafting in Warhammer Online can be broken down into a few fundamentals: you have the actual "production" crafting trade skills themselves and then you have the "gathering" skills that help produce or harvest materials for the production crafting skills. As of right now, there are only two production trade skills (Apothecary and Talisman Making) and four gathering skills (Magical Salvaging, Cultivation, Butchering and Scavenging). As with most MMO crafting systems, the crafting skills and ingredients overlap. This means that if you want to get serious about crafting later in the game, you'll need to either make friends with the opposing skills you need, make a few alts, or prepare to spend a lot of money on the Auction House. What do you want to know about Warhammer Online? Last week Massively went to war with Warhammer: Age of Reckoning. The result was an information bonanza never before seen on this site for any big title in development. Our coverage runs the gamut and ranges from crafting, guilds, various classes, capital cities, interviews with developers, and even a controversial post regarding perceptions about the game and its delayed launches. With such an emphasis placed on PvP and combat, until recently not much has been known about Warhammer's crafting. Mark Jacobs has sort of become the official spokesperson for WAR's crafting system and is still making the rounds hitting up TenTonHammer in this one and two part interview. Nothing new is really discerned if you've been following the news closely. In the TTH interview Jacobs discusses scalability, the impact Apothecary will have on other areas of the game like combat, and more. A definite must read while you wait for your beta invite and are frothing at the mouth for anything WAR related. If you missed out on all the news be sure to check out first-hand coverage for all the latest goods on Warhammer.
