Over the years we've certainly seen that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/archos">Archos</a> can do some decent things on limited hardware, but of course the real money is to be found on the higher end, where your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ipad">iPads</a> and your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/xoom">Xooms</a> play. According to <em>tabletblog.de</em>, Archos has stated intent to announce two new tablets at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ifa">IFA</a> later this year, fitting into the 7- and 10-inch domains like the older (and lower-rent) <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/24/archos-70-and-101-internet-tablet-review/">70 and 101 Internet Tablets</a> above. Supposedly the company doesn't know what hardware either will be running, only that they'll be top-shelf components integrated using posh design. Surely that'll mean a posh price, too.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/05/archos-planning-to-launch-high-end-tablets-at-ifa-later-this-sum/">Archos planning to launch high-end tablets at IFA later this summer?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 05 Mar 2011 05:38:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/archos">Archos</a> hasn't seemed to secure much love for its latest, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/archos9">Archos 9 tablet</a>, so maybe it's going back to what it does best for its next suite of products: a quintet of mostly straightforward players along with a titillating new flavor of the Archos 7. First is the simple and cheap Archos Key, a &euro;20 device with 4GB of storage and microSD expansion. Then there's the Archos Vision Slim, a slenderized and button-free version of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/archosvision">original Vision</a>, again packing just 4GB of storage but going for &euro;40 this time. Next is the Archos Yamaha Vision 2, with an internal amp from Yamaha, integrated stereo speakers, and undisclosed storage quantity and price. Next we have the Archos 4 Vision, a 4.3-inch touchscreen model with TV output, microSD expansion, and what was previously understood to be 16 and 32GB of storage. Finally, perhaps the most interesting, is the Archos 3 Vision Camera, an 8GB player with an integrated camera that could make this into a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/flipvideo">Flip</a>-replacing media player -- depending on the quality of the video, naturally. Oh, and did we forget to mention the purported <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/archos+7/">Archos 7</a> with Android? It's worth restating. All are decidedly rendery looking and naturally this is all unconfirmed, but golly don't they look pretty.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/27/six-supposed-new-archos-models-rendered-for-your-speculative-en/">Six supposed new Archos models rendered for your speculative enjoyment</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 27 Jan 2010 11:29:00 EST. You know those confidentiality agreements companies sign with the FCC to keep our prying eyes away? Well, Archos didn't sign one. The result is a treasure trove of information about its new A5S (model 7501) Internet Media Tablet and a whisper of the A5H (model 7502) to come. The A5S looks <span style="font-style: italic;">very much</span> like the 4.8-inch <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/archos%205">Archos 5</a> we already know and uh, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/29/archos-5-unboxing-and-hands-on/">know</a>. However, there is a slight redesign resulting in a new location for the speaker and headphone jack as well as the inclusion of a microSD slot and what looks to be microUSB. Given the emergence of this new model so close to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/29/archos-5-unboxing-and-hands-on/">Archos' Android launch event</a> and the repeated mention of the 5-inch "Archos 5 Internet Tablet" in Archos' own <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/19/archos-5-internet-tablet-running-android-press-event/">Android AppsLib store</a>, we're guessing this is the new Android device set for a September 15th announce. True, the single UI shot (pictured after the break) isn't vanilla Android (it's likely skinned a la HTC's SenseUI) but it marks a radical departure from Archos' current offering. The FCC tested 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, and an FM transmitter and receiver on the A5S while a user manual briefly mentions 3G data, although the FCC didn't test it. Perhaps that's the secret sauce inside of the A5H model 7502?<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/archos-android-based-a5s-and-a5h-internet-tablets-outed-by-fcc/">Archos' Android-based A5S and A5H Internet Tablets outed by FCC?</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/archos-android-based-a5s-and-a5h-internet-tablets-outed-by-fcc/#2235707"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/08/00026aug09archosffcc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/archos-android-based-a5s-and-a5h-internet-tablets-outed-by-fcc/#2235695"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/08/002https___fjallfoss.fcc.gov_prod_oet_forms_blobs_retrieve_thumbnail.cgi" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/archos-android-based-a5s-and-a5h-internet-tablets-outed-by-fcc/#2235713"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/08/003archos-a5-7501-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/archos-android-based-a5s-and-a5h-internet-tablets-outed-by-fcc/#2235712"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/08/004archos-a5-7501-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/archos-android-based-a5s-and-a5h-internet-tablets-outed-by-fcc/#2235711"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/08/005archos-a5-7501-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/26/archos-android-based-a5s-and-a5h-internet-tablets-outed-by-fcc/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Archos' Android-based A5S and A5H Internet Tablets outed by FCC?</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/26/archos-android-based-a5s-and-a5h-internet-tablets-outed-by-fcc/">Archos' Android-based A5S and A5H Internet Tablets outed by FCC?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 26 Aug 2009 07:15:00 EST. Just under a month ago at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/11/archos-announces-archos9-windows-7-tablet/">Archos' Paris reveal</a>, we were somewhat dismayed that an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/26/archos-android-based-mid-on-track-for-july/">Android-based device</a> didn't show up... officially, at least. We were told to expect more information about a Google-powered unit this September, but it looks as if said wait has been hacked considerably. According to <em>The Inquirer</em>, Archos has informed it that a 5-inch internet media tablet loaded with Android will be unveiled on September 15th, a date that certainly jibes with prior information. The handheld will boast Google's sauce underneath with a layer of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Archos/">Archos</a> applications on top, and while the Windows 7-equipped Archos 9 PCTablet (pictured) is expected in October, this here device should hit shelves a few weeks prior. In related news, the briefing also included word that Archos was working on a few "telephony products," which is just barely enough to get you simultaneously excited / hot and bothered.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.trustedreviews.com/mp3/news/2009/07/03/Archos-Dates-Android-Tablet--Unveils-Tablet--PMPs---Netbooks/p1">TrustedReviews</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/04/5-inch-android-powered-archos-internet-media-tablet-landing-in-s/">5-inch Android-powered Archos Internet Media Tablet landing in September</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 04 Jul 2009 02:01:00 EST. This one's a bit of a stretch but totally plausible. Archos just announced a press conference in Paris on June 11th -- that's a fact. However, the choice of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/android">Android-green</a> in the invite above has caused widespread speculation that we'll be getting a first peep at Archos' heavily rumored <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/26/archos-android-based-mid-on-track-for-july/">Android-based device</a>. Remember, TI was kind enough to give us the full specs on a 10-mm thin <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/09/archos-to-release-android-phone-tablet/">Archos Internet Media Tablet </a>"with all the functionalities of a premium smartphone" back in February. At that time, TI listed specs like a 5-inch high-resolution screen, Adobe Flash support, TV recording, HD playback, 500GB of storage, 7 hours of video playback off battery, voice and HSUPA data radio all powered by a smokin' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/omap%203">OMAP3440</a> processor from TI. If true then we can expect to see the device hinted at in the invite launch in Q3. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.slashgear.com/archos-launching-android-3g-pmp-on-june-11th-1844012/">SlashGear</a>, thanks Chris]<br /><br /><a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Farchoslounge.net%2FSeptieme-generation-le-11-juin-2009%2C8868.html">Read</a> -- Archos Press event<br /><a href="http://news.prnewswire.com/ViewContent.aspx?ACCT=109&amp;STORY=/www/story/02-09-2009/0004968821&amp;EDATE=">Read</a> -- Archos Internet Media Tablet [February 9th, 2009]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/18/archos-event-june-11th-5-inch-android-tablet-with-voice-expecte/">Archos event June 11th: 5-inch Android tablet with voice expected</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 18 May 2009 04:59:00 EST. We haven't heard anything official, but images of an Archos 2 flash player have turned up in a few places on the web today, along with word of an Archos 4. The 2's already listed on Amazon -- it's not going to rock worlds, but it's not bad for $60, with 8GB of storage and microSD expansion, a 1.8-inch 128 x 160 display and a voice recorder all in a .35-inch thick package. There's also a 16GB version on Amazon.de for &euro;68 ($92), but that hasn't yet made it to the US Amazon site. The Archos 4 is a little more mysterious -- all we really know about it is that it'll have a four-inch screen and 16 to 32GB of flash. We're guessing these'll pop soon, we'll let you know.<br /><br />[Thanks, Bill]<br /> <br /> <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=_t&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.archoslounge.net%2FProchains-Archos-Archos-2-et-Archos-4%2C8825.html&amp;sl=fr&amp;tl=en&amp;history_state0=">Read</a> - ArchosLounge<br /> <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Archos-Video-MP3-Player-White/dp/B001UE6LWQ/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&amp;s=electronics&amp;qid=1238832698&amp;sr=8-17">Read</a> - Amazon<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/05/archos-2-and-archos-4-flash-players-leak-out/">Archos 2 and Archos 4 flash players leak out</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 05 Apr 2009 06:03:00 EST. Following up on yesterday's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/08/rumored-specs-for-fifth-generation-archos-pmps-surface/">brief glimpse</a> into the potential <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/15/archos-roadmap-reveals-fifth-generation-plans/">fifth generation</a> of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Archos">Archos</a>' PMP lineup, it looks like the rumor mill is reaching full tilt, as a supposed product page detailing the specifications was quickly pulled after "accidentally" hitting the net a bit before its prime. Nevertheless, GenerationMP3 was able to snag a screenshot of more details surrounding the PMPs, so here's what we know now. The 405 will supposedly accept both miniSD and micro SD cards, support MPEG2/3/4, WMV, H.264, and AAC formats, play nice with JPEG, BPM, and PNG photos, and weigh 146 grams. The 605 may end up supporting <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SDHC/">SDHC</a>, and users could also find themselves choosing between a 30GB, 80GB, or 160GB edition. Of course, we're still taking all of this lightly until official information begins to flow, but be sure and visit the read link for a glimpse at the newly leaked information regardless.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/09/fifth-generation-archos-rumors-intensify/">Fifth generation Archos rumors intensify</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 09 Jun 2007 18:50:00 EST.
