Those who placed pre-orders will get a couple of extra goodies for their $350. To go with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/27/sony-ps-vita-first-edition-bundle-up-for-pre-order-lets-us-buye/">previously promised</a> limited edition case, 4GB memory card and copy of Little Deviants, you'll also receive 250MB of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/22/playstation-vita-data-plans-changed-30-for-3gb/">data from AT&amp;T</a> and a PlayStation Network game gratis as soon as you activate 3G on the device. Furthermore, folks buying a Vita on launch day can look forward to the same free data and PSN game, plus an 8GB memory card in exchange for their $300. Regardless of how you might feel about the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/31/cellphones-are-dangerous-not-dangerous-the-who-changes-its-mind/"><em>potential</em> dangers of electromagnetic radiation</a>, it came in mighty handy today -- identifying this brand-new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/26/sony-to-launch-two-honeycomb-tablets/">Sony S2</a> tablet headed to the USA. The FCC recently got a glimpse at Sir Howard's dual-screen Honeycomb clamshell, and thanks to the public portion of their reports, we've got some crucial specs: the Sony "SGPT211US" will sport 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, and most tellingly, 850MHz and 1900MHz 3G bands suggesting a launch on AT&amp;T. Now, those frequencies are certainly also used by several prominent Canadian carriers, but it just so happens that this particular model tested is a US variant -- with others designated for Canada and Japan -- and this particular cellular module is the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/14/ericssons-new-mobile-broadband-modules-one-oak-trail-tablets/">Ericsson F5521gw</a>, which means we could even be looking at 21Mbps HSPA+ speeds. Before you start speculating, however, there's one more crucial spec to share: the prototypes apparently have a removable 3080mAh lithium-ion battery pack. Swell.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/04/sonys-dual-screen-s2-tablet-hits-the-fcc-boasting-atandt-ready-c/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sony's dual-screen S2 tablet hits the FCC, boasting AT&amp;T-ready cellular frequencies</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/04/sonys-dual-screen-s2-tablet-hits-the-fcc-boasting-atandt-ready-c/">Sony's dual-screen S2 tablet hits the FCC, boasting AT&amp;T-ready cellular frequencies</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 04 Jun 2011 23:01:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/mobilephones/specifications/xperiax10?lc=en&amp;cc=global"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/11/21nov0y42133.jpg" /></a></div>
Man, the loot you can uncover when you go snooping around spec pages. That most ambitious of Sony Ericsson projects, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/03/sony-ericsson-lets-xperia-x10-video-and-press-shots-loose/">XPERIA X10</a>, is still <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/15/xperia-x10-launching-february-2010-in-uk-says-sony-ericsson-sit/">a long way</a> from being released, but already we can narrow down the list of potential US carriers to just one: AT&amp;T. The guys over at <em>Phandroid</em> were the first to spot the newly added UMTS frequency specs for the phone, and the available 800/850/1900/2100 bands fit only AT&amp;T's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/att,3g">3G network</a>. That's gonna be a bitter pill to swallow if you were looking for something like (or better than) an iPhone, but were put off by the wireless provider. Then again, with pre-order prices for unlocked X10s showing up at $999 in some places, maybe you can just look at our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/18/xperia-x10-hands-on-lukewarm-edition/">lukewarm hands-on</a> and convince yourself this phone ain't worth it anyway. Go on, you know denial makes sense.<br />
<br />

Right, so integrated <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/WWAN/">WWAN</a> is awesome. But what's <em>not</em> awesome is Sony's decision to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/01/verizon-softens-the-blow-offers-200-rebates-on-vaio-p-wireless/">lock you down</a> to Verizon Wireless on its ritzy new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/VAIOP/">VAIO P</a>. We've seen one team of investigators <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/03/sonys-us-vaio-p-ripped-open-in-search-of-sim-slot/">hack away</a> in search of a SIM slot to no avail, but we should've known tnkgrl was the real lady for the job. Once again proving just how awesome she is, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/14/acer-aspire-one-not-immune-to-tnkgrls-modding-ways-stuffed-wit/">tnkgrl</a> has not only modified the VAIO P to accept an AT&amp;T SIM card, but she's managed to get it working, host up the pictures to prove it and even provide a how-to guide enabling seasoned hackers to follow suit. Hit the read link for all the requisite details, but be sure you've got lots of spare time to give before taking this one on.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/13/sony-vaio-p-gets-hsdpa-wwan-at-last-via-a-mod-naturally/">Sony VAIO P gets HSDPA WWAN at last... via a mod, naturally</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 13 Feb 2009 00:11:00 EST.
