Happy holidays, everyone! Welcome to Barely Related, a conversational Friday column that presents the non-gaming news stories that we, the Joystiq staff, have been talking about over the past week. And no, we're not stopping our focus on industry and gaming news. Think of this as your casual weekly recap of interesting (and mostly geeky) news, presented just in time to fill your brain with things to discuss at all of those weekend shindigs. Grab a fresh drink, lean back in your armchair, and get ready to talk nerdy with us.

Some things we never wanted to see. Some things we never knew we never wanted to see – and Pokemon mashed up with Attack on Titan is one of those things. Ugh. Today's dose of nightmare fuel comes from zsparky on DeviantArt, as spotted by Tiny Cartridge. The only thing creepier than waking up to a face full of Lickitung in the morning would be a face full of grinning Lickitung. Ugh ugh. But, you know what they say: We had to see it, and now you do, too. Sweet dreams, folks. [Image: Beth Emery / zsparky]

  • This might be the most dangerous iPhone case you can buy

Novelty iPhone cases are nothing new, but while most are simply weird, this one could get you in some serious trouble. The peculiar design is modeled after an item from the Japanese manga and anime series Attack on Titan, but to your average Joe, it looks like something much more sinister. With a pistol-style grip, metallic coloring, and massive pull-switch, it would probably get plenty attention from anyone who spots it in a crowded public place. In short, it looks like something that could set off a bomb, which isn't exactly the kind of thing you want to be carrying around with you right now -- or ever, really. The case is currently up for pre-order with a scheduled retail debut in August, and you can pick one up for around US$40, but if you're not prepared to deal with a whole lot of questions from people who spot it, and potentially from law enforcement, it might be the kind of thing you just leave on your shelf as a collector's item.

  • WoW Moviewatch: Attack on Titan

Arm of Hades is back with another outstanding WoW parody. I'm not sure parody is actually the right word; it's an homage to the original video. Created frame-by-fame against the original opening, Attack on Titan delivers every send a faithful homage to the original movie, just set in Azeroth. It's always amazing how much effort creators put into this kind of thing, and Arm of Hades succeeds in every aspect. As if that homage wasn't enough, Attack on Titan serves well as a trailer for WoW itself. And who doesn't love some fast paced guitar? Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.

Japanese developer Spike Chunsoft is pursuing a North American release for its Nintendo 3DS adaptation of the popular manga series Attack on Titan, Siliconera reports. According to an unnamed employee with the company, Spike Chunsoft currently seeks a partner company to publish the game stateside. Previously, Spike Chunsoft partnered with publisher Aksys to produce English localizations of the Nintendo DS adventure game Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and its multiplatform sequel Virtue's Last Reward. Spike Chunsoft's Attack on Titan game (titled Shingeki no Kyoujin: Jinrui Saigo no Tsubasa) launched in Japan in December, selling almost 100,000 copies in its debut week, according to Siliconera.
