  • Canon gives its workers time out -- for love

As you're no doubt aware, Japan is a country where the twelve hour workday is pretty well standard, the population is aging faster than any other in the world, and the economy is all "recessionized" -- not the most auspicious circumstances for makin' babies. With a national birthrate of just 1.34, the populace is in danger of disappearing -- but don't fear! Canon has a plan. The company is encouraging its employees to leave work at 5:30 PM twice a week, hoping that a couple shameless early-off days will relieve some stress and encourage folks to use their time, well, productively. In other news, we have it from a reliable source that Bad Company album sales are at an all time high in Tokyo.

  • Destructible environments in new Battlefield: Bad Company gameplay

There's nothing quite like destructible environments and this new Battlefield: Bad Company gameplay shows off just that. It's one thing to be in an all-out brawl against a ton of different people, but what to do when you're cornered in some house? Just blow up the wall and make your escape! Topple some trees if you'd like (if you're particularly good with your timing, perhaps it could land on a vehicle and make it explode or something else really dramatic). The action in the game seems pretty intense, but we'd expect nothing less from this franchise. We'll keep you up to date when it gets closer to release!

EA just released a new Battlefield: Bad Company teaser trailer including the same humor we've seen in the previous videos, but this one features a first glimpse at what the game will look like. Embedded above or downloadable through IGN is the new Bad Company trailer with lots of big explosions, small explosions and just explosions all around. Simply put, there are lots of things that go BOOM! And after analyzing the trailer frame by frame we must say that the in-game footage looks really nice with its muddy art style, polished character models and destructible environments. Give the video a watch to see if you can handle the Bad Company, their destructive humor and their smiley face grenades. [Thanks, Token White Guy]

Gamersyde has a slew of new images of Battlefield: Bad Company. We haven't heard much on Bad Company short of a few screenshots since the trailer hit Marketplace back in February. These new shots are all pretty slick, showing off the characters, hum-vees, helicopters, weapon models, and some spiffy explosions and destructible environments. It's looking very pretty and we can't wait until we get more details on how well it plays. Check out the screens after the jump. [Thanks, Brian LQbano]

Today, DICE released four new Battlefield: Bad Company screenshots and from what we can tell, they're pretty. All the screenshots are in game and showcase the Battlefield destruction in all its glory. Previously, we've been on the fence with the direction those trailers were going, but we can safely say we'll be watching for this game. Maybe the blend of comedy and war will be a welcome change to the genre or it could just get annoying. But, whatever happens, these screenshots show the visual potential Bad Company has. All four screenshots are viewable after the jump.

The Battlefield: Bad Company trailer that was made available on Marketplace this morning is now available online (also in HD). As a service to our readers that are currently chained to a desk and can't access a 360, we bring you said trailer. It's generally fashionable to take a few potshots at EA when given the chance, but we have to admit Bad Company looks like it could be a bit of alright. The trailer showcases something that many games don't: a sense of humor. The trailer isn't necessarily indicative of gameplay, but there's no denying that the engine is nice. Give it a watch and tell us what you think.

  • Battlefield: Bad Company info unleashed

Want to hear some info about the next Battlefield game set for the 360 and PS3 next year? Why, you're in luck! We've got the scoop. How would you like a deep, cinematic single-player experience set in a near-future conflict? It's not World War II! That's a great start (now if only RPG main characters would stop being able to use swords as a default. More spear-wielders, please!). Also, there's not as much gritty realism here -- more dark humor. The world of B:BC is completely destructible. Shape the battlefield to match your play style! Drive tanks through buildings, make a hole in a wall for optimal sniping, etc. Can you stack stuff? That'd be the only improvement, really. Stacking crates or something. You get your choice of land, sea, or air vehicles as well to keep things fresh and fun. Speaking of keeping it fresh and fun, how do 24-player online matches sound? It's shaping up to be a neato game. Anyone with a next-gen system (sans Wii, regrettably) will have to keep their eye on this one!
