Before Star Supremacy's launch, Barbily Games both sought player input on design decisions by offering a spaceship design contest and solicited feedback for future events. Fast forward to today, when players now have the opportunity to submit their own ideas about what the MMORTS title's storyline should be in a new contest. Players eager to see their ideas truly influence a game need to post their entry on the official event thread. The winner of the storyline event will have his or her ideas about how Star Supremacy should grow and develop story-wise incorporated into the game. [Source: Barbily Games press release]

The dev team behind Star Supremacy is gearing up for its first update of 2012. The Colony Starship patch features new optimizations to the alliance system, under-the-hood performance tweaks, and new items in the cash shop (as well as a few price changes). The patch isn't quite live yet, but you can look for it this time tomorrow. In the meantime, Barbily Games has also issued a reminder about its latest Facebook promotion. When the game reaches the 500- and 1,000-like milestones, all players will receive in-game gifts. When the 30,000-like barrier is broken, three randomly selected players will win Ear Force X11 headsets.

Fun fact about Santa: Not only does he have to visit all of the houses across the world in the span of a single night, but apparently he's on galaxy duty as well. Jolly St. Nick will be making the rounds in Star Supremacy during the game's Xmas event, during which he'll be making appearances on the neutral planets twice a day. He's not there for pleasantries, however; Santa needs players to help him find his sleigh, and he's prepared to dish out Christmas stocking bounties as rewards. Barbily Games is also preparing to roll out its Gemini update, which will bring back three PvP systems for players to conquer. The update will also include a helping hand to lowbies' energy regeneration, new equipment, improved construction, and the ability to retreat. You can get a good look at the update in our new Star Supremacy gallery below! %Gallery-142298%

Designing your own spaceship is probably pretty high up on the list of things to do for most sci-fi geeks. If you're a sci-fi geek and a free-to-play browser-based MMORTS fan, Star Supremacy is a title that might be of interest. The devs recently held a design-your-own-starship contest, and according to a post on the game's official boards, the results are in. Barbily Games is also open to player suggestions for similar events in the future, and the company is actively soliciting related feedback on the forums. Star Supremacy is set in the far future and it features three human factions locked in a struggle for expansion and conquest in the wake of a resource shortage on the planet Earth.

Star Supremacy, which is currently in the Open Beta Nebula, is growing bigger by the day -- so big, in fact, that it's opening the doors for self-appointed Overlords to make themselves at home. Barbily Games is prepping an update with a pair of features for the space MMORTS that should please the PvP crowd in particular. The first feature in the upcoming update is a PvP arena titled Galaxy Overlord. In it, players will compete to rise up in the ranks and earn honor points for glory (and more importantly, rewards). Also arriving with the update is something called Defender's Battle Control, which apparently allows the titular defenders to jump right into defensive skirmishes and attempt to affect the outcome. According to Barbily's PR Manager Thomas Watson, these features come straight from players' wishlists: "We do a lot of research and players aren't aware how much we put in to make sure we want to provide a game that they want to play. We read feedback about our game and see what players like and don't like. Players within the community and outside the community expect a lot and we want to meet expectations on a high level. The battle system and PvP arena update are just the beginning."

Star Supremacy entered open beta earlier this month, and the game's developer, Barbily Games, wants to give one lucky player an opportunity to have his or her artwork turned into an in-game ship. That's right, Star Supremacy wants your ship designs, and the winning entry will be used to create a new spacecraft within the game. There's only one week left in the competition, so if you want to put your artistic skills to the test, just head on over to the game's official site. [Source: Barbily Games press release]

Star Supremacy is barreling down on its open beta, and Barbily Games is all a-flutter as the studio prepares events and exclusive rewards for when it happens. The space-themed MMO is scheduled to open its doors wide to the public on November 15th. Barbily Games claims that Star Supremacy is unlike any other MMO you've seen: "It is set to be a stroke of genius which you have never experienced before among space games." Players will not only harvest resources, construct ships, and duke it out with each other over territories, but there will be a main storyline for the entire playerbase to explore. Initially, players will be challenged with constructing a Deep Space Colony Ship that will allow them to reach distant solar systems. Barbily said that there's even an ending to the storyline, although it will not end the gameplay proper. Interested astronauts can register for the open beta on the official website. Star Supremacy is both free-to-play and browser-based, making it accessible to just about anyone who's interested in laying claim to the cosmos.

As Star Supremacy continues its star trek through beta and toward release, Barbily Games has a few treats (but not tricks) in store for testers. After gathering feedback and bug reports from players in the beta, the dev team has whipped up a few hefty updates that should improve the game end-to-end. These updates include an improved UI, a chat system, alliances, item trading, and a tutorial. And even though the team is mired in beta craziness, there's always time for a little Halloween fun. The Star Supremacy devs have issued a challenge to players to find hidden GM bases. Those that do will be rewarded with special in-game items, such as pumpkin helmets and longevity tokens. Finally, Barbily is giving away gaming headsets to a few lucky fans that have "liked" the game's Facebook page. The drawing will happen when the page reaches 30,000 likes. Star Supremacy will be heading into open beta on November 15th. [Source: Barbily Games press release]

If you have been looking for a space-themed online real-time strategy title, Star Supremacy may be the thing to quench your intergalactic thirst. In the game, three human factions find themselves at odds in the depths of space, and only by engaging in all-out warfare can a victor be declared. It's free, it's browser-based, and it's at a closed beta near you. Star Supremacy announced that its closed beta program starts today and can be joined by any space pilot who happens to possess... the key. Where do you get... the key? It's actually not too hard, as the official site lists a slew of participating partners that will gladly give you one of their... keys. The game is also giving away in-game currency and items to players who participate in one of four beta events. These rewards are designed to be incentives for good beta testing behavior, as they lure players into submitting bug reports, providing feedback, and promoting Star Supremacy.
