Reader Roastbeef (and sidekick Sandwich) send in this tranquil shot of an evening of fishing out in the Barrens. Yes, I know it's the only place to find Deviant fish (and thus make the yummy Savory Deviant Delight), but I have to think this screenshot only appears tranquil because the chat window isn't visible.Do you have a unique shot of Azeroth or Outland that you'd like to show off to the rest of the world? • Chuck Norris doesn't sleep... he waits

I can't believe it hasn't been done before (and I'm not sure how old the pic is), but there you go-- Cordell Walker as a WoW character.. My favorite: The chief export of Chuck Norris is Pain. More here, or just visit a local Barrens chat near you.Chuck Norris is no stranger to gaming, but my hunch is that as funny as this is, it's actually photoshopped. In all my Azerothian travels, I've never seen a sleeveless, unbuttoned denim shirt. But you never know-- if Col. James Braddock called up Blizzard and told them he was going to be in the game, they'd have no choice but to comply.[ via Digg ]

  • Around Azeroth: The Southern Barrens

Reader Derick sends in this picture of the Southern Barrens at sunset (or is that a moonset?). Despite the fact that it's a terribly common place, this shot manages to catch some of the memorable parts of the area -- the cool, twisted trees and scenic skyscapes -- while avoiding the primary reason many of us get out of the zone as quickly as possible -- obviously, the chat line. We're 10 days away from the big day, and we're counting it down with a contest every day. You still have two hours to get your entry in to win a 60-day time card for the low, low price of four little words. Today, it's a Horde-themed caption contest -- Alliance diehards, you'll get your chance tomorrow. This time, we're going to pick a slate of 10 finalists and have you folks vote to pick the best caption, so you'll have no excuse to flame us over the winner. So get cracking and come up with the best caption for the image above, and hope your fellow WoW fans have the good sense to pick yours as the winner of today's prize: an I survived Barrens chat t-shirt in your choice of size. You have until 1pm EST tomorrow, January 7 to enter the best caption. Go!

  • Around Azeroth: Shrine of the Fallen Warrior

This shrine (the spirit healer image is visible if you visit the area when dead even when not dead) is located in the Barrens to the west of the Crossroads. The shrine is a tribute to the memory of Michel Koiter, twin brother of René Koiter, both influential Blizzard artists. Ariss of Duskwood sent in this image, saying that there's a bet riding on the picture getting posted -- I never knew "Around Azeroth" was a competitive sport! Do you have a unique shot of Azeroth that you'd like to show off to the rest of the world? Tell us about it by e-mailing aroundazeroth@gmail.com! You can attach a picture file or send us a link to one -- and don't worry about formatting, we'll take care of that part.

Previously in the Levelling Locations series: 1-10At level 10 you're deemed big enough to venture out into the wider world. You'll probably be sent to a capital city on a quest to experience the hustle and bustle of urban life, and you'll start seeing life outside the "newbie zones" for the first time. You also get access to better armour, including your first green (uncommon) items, and you can take part in the PvP Battlegrounds. In many ways, life begins at 10!
