Clearly you're enthusiastic about the Resistance series if you don't own either of the first two games, so it goes without saying that you're all about dressing up as a generic-looking soldier in the third game's multiplayer. Insomniac apparently knows this, as the studio took to the US PlayStation blog today to announce said multiplayer "Capelli" skin as part of the bonuses included in the Resistance "Dual Pack," launching on July 5. He's ... uh ... got a beanie? Awesome? As previously revealed by an insert in the Battle: Los Angeles Blu-ray, the two-pack of Resistance titles will also include "$10 worth of bonus content," detailed as the "Aftermath" map, a skin bundle, and the "wraith skin" multiplayer weapons for Resistance 2. When the pack arrives on July 5, it comes with an asking price of $39.99.

Remember when a billboard on the set of Battle: Los Angeles spilled the beans about Resistance 3 long before it was officially announced? It seems the film's creators have found a way to make up for the leak -- according to G4, the Blu-ray edition of the film will include a 30-minute demo from Insomniac's upcoming shooter; the same riverboat sequence we previewed back in March. We think the Blu-ray, which is due out June 14, is kind of a killer combo. You start by watching a big blockbuster about a military struggle against invading extraterrestrial aggressors, and then you actively play a big blockbuster about a military struggle against invading extraterrestrial aggressors. It's like peanut butter and ... more peanut butter.

Sony Pictures' upcoming Battle: Los Angeles movie is pretty much a video game. Aliens attack L.A. and the American military swoops in to defend it. It sounds like most every other military sci-fi shooter ever made, which is why "Konami jumped at the opportunity to team up with Columbia Pictures and publish the Battle: Los Angeles video game," says Konami Digital's Careen Yapp. The downloadable tie-in will "mirror" the story of the feature film. According to Konami's press release, you'll assume the role of a Marine, shooting aliens with an "arsenal of weapons" -- meaning, your standard issue "assault rifle, sniper rifle, rocket launcher, frag grenades, and a turret gun." TimeShift developer Sabre Interactive is working on the title, which will be released next month on PSN, XBLA and digital PC retailers like Steam. It's gotta be better than the Flash game (pictured above), right?%Gallery-118418%

It seems that upcoming alien invasion flick Battle: Los Angeles is receiving a tie-in game. According to Australia's classification website, a Battle: Los Angeles game is being developed by Saber Interactive, the studio behind TimeShift, Inversion, and an unannounced Halo: Combat Evolved remake. The movie's imminent release this March, coupled with the surprising absence of an early announcement, means a Battle: Los Angeles game is unlikely to be a regular retail release. We're currently following up with Saber and publisher Konami for more details.

  • Resistance 3 billboard appears way ahead of its time

A keen-eyed NeoGAF user by the name of goldsoundz noticed a startling billboard in his home town of Shreveport, Louisiana -- splayed out on the massive overhead placard is the logo for the heretofore unannounced next installment in Insomniac Games' PS3 shooter franchise, Resistance 3. Goldsoundz explained that Shreveport is a popular spot for film shoots, and that the ad was to be incorporated in a film titled Battle: Los Angeles, which is due out in early 2011. By that timeline, it makes sense that Insomniac could slap another game together by the film's theatrical debut -- still, seeing gargantuan promotions for a game that hasn't been formally announced (or discussed) is a bit surprising. Certainly more surprising than a potential announcement for Resistance 3, because, come on, of course there's gonna be a Resistance 3. [Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]
