As the smoke clears following this morning's massive restructuring efforts by Eidos parent SCi, we now know at least one franchise that has not been counted among those projects tossed into the circular file. Eidos has announced that development is underway on a follow up to last year's Battlestations: Midway, unsurprising given the company's known affection for sequels. The new game, Battlestations: Pacific, is being created for both the Xbox 360 and PC. According to Eidos, the sequel will mark a return to the original's "unique blend" of action and strategy with 28 story missions across both U.S. and Japanese single player campaigns. In addition, players can expect a "slew of new air, sea, and land units" as well, including kamikazes and other WWII-era jets, as well as five new multiplayer modes. A final release date for the game has not yet been announced, but as soon as we know we'll pass the word along for those itching to gun down friends and family over the Pacific.%Gallery-17214%

In a recent statement, SCi, parent company of Eidos, has confirmed that a sequel to Battlesations: Midway is in development. According to the statement, unearthed by Eurogamer, the original title was a big success, debuting at number one on both the 360 and all formats charts in the UK last month. No details about the sequel have been revealed, but it's probably safe to assume it will involve planes, boats, and submarines. We're also fairly certain the sequel will see release on the Xbox 360.

Last week we told you about the downloadable content for Battlestations: Midway, which was supposed to come out today. Eidos unfortunately announced that the pack has been delayed until the end of March due to having "technical issues". While no specifics were given about the actual date in which the content will be coming to Marketplace, the "end of the month" move puts it in the same time frame as the PC version's similar update.

Looking through our Sunday paper, in between all the Windows Vista hoopla, we found a few cool offers for those of you who are going to purchase Battlestations: Midway. You get a free $5 gift card at Best Buy this week when you purchase the game, and over at Circuit City they are offering a free poster. We're thinking a $5 gift card is a little better deal so we recommend shopping at Best Buy. Do you know of another retailer or website offering better goods with the purchase of Battlestations: Midway?

The Battlestations: Midway demo that we were promised yesterday is now available (as is a new F.E.A.R. trailer). The demo comes in at just under half a gig and promises to provide players with some WWII multiplayer action in the air and sea around the Island of Solomon. With multiple vehicles like planes, submarines, and boats, Battlestations: Midway looks to give WWII buffs a nice change of pace after the recent spate of WWII FPS games. We're going to give the demo a try and we'll post our impressions later today. In the meantime, if you've had time to play the demo, tell us what you think. Does it live up to your expectations? Does it fill the void of the missing Crackdown demo?

So the Crackdown demo was pushed back, but that doesn't mean we can't have some free fun before the weekend arrives. GameSpot reports that a demo for Battlestations: Midway, the WWII combat game, will be arriving this Thursday on Xbox Live Marketplace. The demo will contain one multiplayer map, the Island of Solomon. It's a game of Americans versus Japanese in which the winner must destroy the enemy's air base, aircraft carrier, and naval base. While the WWII genre is getting somewhat tired, Battlestations' vehicular approach may just make us sit up and take notice.Anyone out there looking forward to this game?[Via Planet Xbox 360]

  • Battlestations: Midway rewards mediocrity

A savvy tipster pointed out the above achievement from Battlestations: Midway today. In case you didn't notice, the game actually rewards players for being the worst player on the team. This isn't the first "shame" achievement -- Dead or Alive 4 had an achievement for consecutive losses. What's makes this different is that it is actually worth ten points, whereas the DOA achievement was worth zero, thus cementing the "shame" aspect. Of course, this achievement presents another problem: what if you're crazy good? What if your skillz are so unbelievably mad that you're never ever the worst player on your team? What the hell do you do then, suck on purpose? Frankly, we will not stand for this injustice.Seriously though, there are lots of achievements out there. What are some of the most creative you've seen? Best? Worst?[Thanks, un1qu3 n3wy0rk]

Well folks, TGS is over, finished, kaput. As such, it seem only fitting that today's content is more oriented towards western audiences -- note also that there is no Japan exclusive content today. Here's the sweet sweet candy: Battlestations Midway trailer Eragon trailer Import Tuner Challenge trailer Need for Speed Carbon trailer The Darkness trailer Mass Effect Picture Pack (free!) Battlestar Galactica (United States) TGS Showfloor video 3 video F.E.A.R. demo We discussed the F.E.A.R. demo earlier: if you played the OXM demo, there's nothing new. With all this content, it may be time to start clearing out some of that old E3 stuff. Meanwhile, X06 inches ever closer. So, everybody make some room, download each and every one of these trailers, watch them, and then come back here and discuss them. Discuss them, I say!
