Nearly everything in Gaijin Games' esteemed Bit.Trip series has been marked down on Steam, from now until Monday, May 20. For instance: Bit.Trip Collection, which includes Bit.Trip Beat, Bit.Trip Runner, Bit.Trip Core and Bit.Trip Void, has had its price cut by 75% and is now just $11.98. Likewise, all of those games can be purchased individually at a discounted price of $2.49. Even last year's gorgeous Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien has had its price dropped to less than $12 – we recommend gettin' while the gettin's good, as our very southern mom would say.

How timely! One day before Takahashi Meijin leaves his post as Hudson Soft's resident PR expert/hero/mascot, Nintendo has released a Virtual Console game starring Takahashi (or, as he's called here, "Master Higgins"), namely Super Adventure Island. On DSiWare, we get to experience one of the most delightfully random release days since the service started. There's a game about parking cars with an early GTA-style top-down view, an A-Team pastiche, and an episodic House, M.D. adventure game. Examine the full list of releases after the break.%Gallery-124786%

It's a fantastic day to be in Europe like retro and retro-style downloadable games. Coinciding with that amazing Bit.Trip Runner trailer, its predecessor Bit.Trip Void is now avaiable on WiiWare, along with the authentically NES-style Mega Man 10! There's even a real retro game available on Virtual Console -- a pretty good one, at that. The theme even extends to DSiWare, where you can get Dark Void Zero, a promotional game that outshines the game it was meant to promote. You can play it on the DSi XL, which was released in Europe today! Zaxxon (Arcade, 1 player, 500 Wii Points) Bit.Trip Void (WiiWare, 1-4 players, 600 Wii Points) Mega Man 10 (WiiWare, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points) Dark Void Zero (DSiWare, 1 player, 500 DSi Points) Flips: The Bubonic Boulders (DSiWare, 1 player, 500 DSi Points) Globulos Party (DSiWare, 1-2 players, 500 DSi Points) Pinball Pulse: The Ancients Beckon (DSiWare, 1 player, 500 DSi Points) Real Football 2010 (DSiWare, 1-4 players, 800 DSi Points) New English Training: Learn with Tempo - Advanced Edition (not available in the UK) (DSiWare, 1 player, 800 DSi Points)

Nintendo celebrates Thanksgiving by dropping a massive feast onto the table of every Wii and DSi owner in North America. The next Bit.Trip game is now available on WiiWare, DSiWare receives another heaping serving of Electroplankton, and Virtual Console welcomes ... Super Mario Kart. We guess when Nintendo said "by year's end" it meant "next week." See the full, seasonally appropriate bounty after the break.

Gaijin Games has announced a release date for the third game in its abstract, chiptune-infused Bit.Trip series. Bit.Trip: Void, which involves using the Nunchuk's analog stick to absorb and/or avoid dots based on color, will arrive in North America on November 23. "That's right, the week of Thanksgiving!" the announcement notes. "Total sweetness in the village." Like Beat and Core, it'll cost 600 Wii Points. If you like the music from the Bit.Trip games, you'll also be delighted to know that the soundtrack for Bit.Trip: Beat is now available for purchase on iTunes and CDBaby, with releases to follow on pretty much every online and mobile music retailer you've ever heard of, and several you haven't. Finally, proving its allegiance to the chiptune community. Gaijin Games announced that it will sponsor this year's Blip Festival in New York City. Classy!

WiiWare is officially back in Japan, with one of the most content-rich updates we'd ever seen. Just Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth would be enough to make this week remarkable, but Game Arts' Shadow Walker and Bit.Trip VOID are available as well, along with an oddity from D3!Not enough? How about four Virtual Console games, including a Sonic & Knuckles with the lock-on feature intact? Or a budget DSiWare game about blowing up asteroids to save the Earth? @SIMPLE Series Vol. 5: THE Judo (WiiWare, 1-2 players, 700 Wii Points) Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth (WiiWare, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points) Bit.Trip: VOID (WiiWare, 1-4 players, 500 Wii Points) Shadow Walker (WiiWare, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points) Championship Lode Runner (Famicom, 1 player, 500 Wii Points) Sonic & Knuckles (Mega Drive, 1 player, 600 Wii Points) Face Off (Arcade, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points) Rolling Thunder 2 (Arcade, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points) Earth Saver (DSiWare, 1 player, 200 DSi Points) Puzzle Selection Monthly Crossword House vol. 6 (DSiWare, 1 player, 500 DSi Points) Hills and Rivers Remain (DSiWare, 1-4 players, 800 DSi Points)

  • Nintendo reveals three new Bit.Trip games headed to WiiWare

Proving that the Bit.Trip is far from reaching its destination, Nintendo has listed two additional games in the pixel-celebrating series for WiiWare. (We already got a hint at another this morning, bringing the total number of Trips we'll be going on to three.) The Big N has the already announced Bit.Trip: Void down for Q3 2009 release, noting that "three additional titles" in the franchise will arrive sometime in Q4 2009 and into Q1 2010. We already know from our chat with Gaijin Games that one of the trio is based on an old-school Atari title -- the other two are anyone's guess. We're betting on the sixth game being Bit.Trip: Trip, in which players must guide a lone pixel home through all of the previous Bit.Trip games.

Following his panel about Gaijin Games' design process, we approached art director Mike Roush to try to get some more information about Bit.Trip: Void -- specifically, when we'll be able to download and play it. He wasn't entirely sure, because nobody is when it comes to downloadable Nintendo releases, but he told us, "If I were to guess, it would be mid-October. We wanted to push that release date back." Roush said that Gaijin is shooting for a simultaneous worldwide release for the Ikaruga-ish dot-absorbing game, after receiving some "flak" from impatient European fans. While we were chatting, we tried our wiliest interview techniques to try to extract some hints about the next Bit.Trip title -- which is to say we asked for hints about the next Bit. Trip title. "I will not give you a hint," Roush said. "However, it is the game we all wanted to make when we started Gaijin Games. It's the game we've been waiting for... I will give you a hint: it will be based off of an Atari game." And no, it isn't Warlords. We asked.

Ever felt like something was missing from the WiiWare lineup? Ever feel like the Bit.Trip series needed to be a trilogy? Good, because Aksys has just announced Bit.Trip Void for WiiWare. Like Bit.Trip Beat and Bit.Trip Core before it, Void takes retro visuals and gameplay and fuses it with a psychadelic chiptune soundtrack to create a synesthetic experience that would make Mizuguchi proud.Bit.Trip Void will feature four player local co-op when it debuts on WiiWare later this year. However, players will be able to get an early hands-on at PAX this weekend.

Gaijin Games is up to its old tricks again, offering inscrutable teasers for an upcoming game, though the new "Explore the Void" site is much more quietly lovely than the Commander Video mysteries we're used to. Over the last week or so, the developer has posted images to the site that have now been revealed as extreme closeups of satellite dishes in silhouette. What does it mean for the next game? Bit. Trip: Dish? Bit. Trip: Transmit?Bit. Trip: Zoomed In Images of Everyday Objects? At least we have pretty pictures to look at while we contemplate this puzzle.
