The Internet is reporting that the lead designer on Bizarre Creations' Blur has created an independent game studio called Totem Games, but this is a lie. Parts of this story are true, and others are complete fabrication, most likely sewn together from the threads of space and time itself, as is often the case with online sourcing. Let us break it down for you: Truth: Matt Cavanagh, a former Bizarre Creations employee, has created Totem Games Ltd., an independent game studio with a mission to help "make the world a happier place." Truth: Matt Cavanagh was not the lead designer on Blur, nor did he work on any part of the game, as shown by Blur's credits and Cavanagh's tweet saying, "I did not actually work on blur. Cheers, Matt." Truth: Matt Cavanagh worked on the city art in Project Gotham Racing and Project Gotham Racing 2. Truth: This is the most publicity Matt Cavanagh has gotten in years. There are no lies here, because we don't publish those. We leave that to the rest of the Internet and sleep well knowing it is one area that is completely over-covered.

If dubious off-screen photos of the sequel to the sensational XBLA shooter Geometry Wars just aren't doing it, how does the idea of some slightly less dubious off-screen video of the game strike you? That's what GameTrailers has to offer in lieu of actual direct-feed action. Behold: Four-player blasting yumminess! Even trippier visuals! More geometry to destroy!

Inside MGC has posted what appears to be a list of Xbox 360 Achievements for an unannounced -- but not unheard of -- Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved sequel. It seems your neon-lit annihilation of sinister shapes will occur across several different modes this time (thanks, "Unlock All Modes" Achievement), including a "Waves" variant, a "Pacifism" setting and something called "Deadline." A time limit, perhaps? Though Retro Evolved 2 has yet to be officially acknowledged, we're confident in our assertion that 200 Gamerpoints represent nothing but the icing on a delicious, octagonal cake. We can't wait to wreck 'tangles again. [Via X3F]

Having spent the last few months polishing off The Club, Bizarre Creations just released word of brand new downloadable content for Project Gotham Racing 4. On Thursday, February 14, two content packs will be released for the latest installment in the popular racing franchise, the Free Challenge Pack and the Premium Challenge Pack. The Free Challenge Pack is, well, free and includes the design contest winning Peugeot Flux as well as two new game modes. The two new modes include, Tourist Mode which allows players to take in the sights with their friends over Xbox Live and Free Roam Cat and Mouse where a slow mouse vehicle must avoid enemy cats. The Premium Challenge Pack includes the free pack content, 7 additional cars, 3 bikes and the World Challenge Arcade Mode, which gives you 20 arcade events in 3 themed chapters for 400MS points. Additionally, the packs include an auto-update for PGR4 that sports 10 new achievements, 3 of which are exclusive to the Premium pack. Time to strap back into the driver's seat people!

Bizarre Creations and SEGA finally unveil their title, The Club, with a good bit of in-game screens (trust it, these aren't pre-rendered) and a large interview with design manager of Bizarre, Nick Davies and lead designer Matt Cavanagh. Let's see what they have to say about this third-person shooter based on skill, timing, and fun. The game is based on skill and performance -- not fragging enemies. Sure, hitting enemies is the idea, but you get points and multipliers based on your abilities. Sort of a throwback to things like House of the Dead, but third-person and against other players. The level layout varies from linear to non-linear, giving those with knowledge of the maps a smaller advantage than some other online titles. Enemies spawn semi-randomly -- no real "spawn points" for you to camp at and rack up the points. Enemy AI is treated with care, so don't expect a walk in the park on higher difficulties, either. They'll react differently depending on your reactions or how the battle is progressing as well as look different physically. Variation is good. Contemporary, but numerous guns will be available. However, bigger guns doesn't mean the most points -- using the right tool in the right circumstance is key. Single-player mode will boast about 50 levels across 8 environments with a variety of game modes. Each of the playable characters has their own story, too. Look for this game on the PS3 and 360 before the end of the year. It seems like it'll be a fun PS3 Fanboy community game, if nothing else. Hopefully it'll be easy to organize matches.

Sometimes you come across displays of greatness that just cannot go without acknowledgment. Meet Joe, a producer at EA, who has what can only be called an intimate understanding of the game Boom Boom Rocket. This can be demonstrated by his ability to play 1812 Overdrive, on hard, blindfolded, and hit 100% of the fireworks. Damn, we don't know what else to say, but watch the video, and be amazed. Then watch it again. We've got more BBR news for you coming right up, but felt this deserved special attention.
