Every week, WoW Insider brings you Spiritual Guidance for discipline, holy and shadow priests. On Wednesdays, the shadowier-than-thou Fox Van Allen takes over, trying to undo the damage caused by Dawn Moore's healing-oriented Monday edition. I've been pleasantly surprised with raiding in Cataclysm. It's pretty well-balanced -- raids like Blackwing Descent have a good mix of bosses with varying levels of difficulty. The statistics speak for themselves: While about 94% of raiding guilds have downed Magmaw (or so says WoW Progress), only 20% have made it to and beat Nefarion. That's a pretty wide gap. My discipline-oriented nemesis Dawn Moore has been spending her last few columns covering Blackwing Descent raiding strategies for Maloriak and Nefarion and for Chimaeron and Atramedes. All the while, you poor raiding shadow priests have been on your own while I laid out the law in Shadow 101. Well, no more -- it's time to talk raiding. We have to start at the beginning, though -- and that means taking on Magmaw and Omnotron Defense System. (Hey, everyone needs a couple of easy wins now and then to build confidence, right?) They're pretty easy for experienced raiders, but for those just cutting their teeth on Cataclysm raiding, they can still pose a real challenge. Over the next few weeks, we'll build our way up to the exceptionally challenging Nefarion and even dabble in some serious heroic mode strategies. For now, though it's time to smash some loot piñatas right in their ugly little (Mag)maws.

  • Spiritual Guidance: Healing Chimaeron and Atramedes as a priest

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Spiritual Guidance for discipline, holy and shadow priests. Dawn Moore covers healing for discipline and holy priests, while her archenemy Fox Van Allen dabbles in shadow and decorative cross stitching (who knew he was so crafty?). Dawn also writes for LearnToRaid.com and produces the Circle of Healing Podcast. This week on Spiritual Guidance, we'll be returning to Blackwing Descent where, after meeting sudden and untimely deaths at the bottom of an elevator shaft, we can respawn and face our next two healing challenges: Chimaeron and Atramedes. You may recall that not long ago, we examined two other bosses in Blackwing Descent, Magmaw and the Omnotron Defense System. If you can handle those two, these bosses are just a tiny step up in difficulty and should be no match for your priestly prowess.

  • The Daily Quest: Death and guilt

WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. I don't know whether or not I consider WoW a guilty pleasure. It's something I enjoy doing, even if nobody in my family plays -- much less has any idea about the game at all. And there's nothing quite like being at a family reunion, getting the inevitable "So what do you do for a living?" question and cheerily responding that I write about internet dragons and little green men. On the internet. The looks on the faces of my relatives makes it all worth it. So today, we've got one post about the guilty pleasures of WoW, and a couple more regarding other potentially embarassing things, most of which I've experienced at one point in time or another: Target Dummies ponders the possibility of WoW as the ultimate guilty pleasure. Shot and Awe has a chat about learning from death in raids, something I'm very familiar with. The Stories of O talks about why Al'akir isn't the best raid boss ever. (I bet it has something to do with those blasted cyclones.) Lastly, I Like Bubbles has a nice guide detailing the strats surrounding the successor to the deadly Aldor Rise elevator -- the Blackwing Descent elevator. It's evil, it moves up and down, and it's going to kill you. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Just leave us a comment, and you may see it here tomorrow! Be sure to check out our WoW Resources Guide for more WoW-related sites.
