Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two charges onto Vita in a few weeks time. SCE America announced a release date of June 18 this morning. The Vita port of the co-op game is also confirmed for Europe, although that remains undated for now. SCE America says the Vita version, being handled by Blitz Game Studios, features ad hoc network support. Lots of the additions center on the touchscreen, including being able to control paint, thinner, and the electric beam of Oswald (the one that's not Mickey). The touchscreen can also be used to command AI and navigate the user interface, among a number of other actions. Disney closed original developer Junction Point earlier this year. The game sold 529,000 units in the US across November and December 2012, having launched for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and Wii on November 18. %Gallery-189201%

  • Microsoft Kinect will work just fine for seated gameplay

One of the major points of confusion related to Microsoft's new controller-less Xbox 360 Kinect gaming system is the perceived lack of seated gameplay, largely driven by those early demos that required a standing player. At the time, Kinect's sensor was keying off the base node located at the bottom of the spine to create its skeletal models. As of a few months ago, Microsoft updated its software libraries to key off the base of the neck, thus avoiding any ambiguity caused by the player's motionless knees or feet obscuring a spine stuffed into the opaque comfort of the living room sofa. At least that's what Blitz Games Studios co-founder and CTO Andrew Oliver told Eurogamer. Unfortunately, the motion-sensing changes for lazy-bone play come too late for Kinect's early November launch titles (burdened with writing their own software for seated play) but "games going forward won't have a problem," says Oliver.

That's right, Binary Tweed's watercolored Xbox Live Indie Game Clover is headed to the PC as Clover: A Curious Tale, courtesy of Blitz Game Studios. Developer Binary Tweed reports that the title is destined for digital distribution services and features a host of updates, including (direct from Binary Tweed's site): New animations - all characters are articulated, clouds move, flames smoke and glow, water splashes, cats snore (!); Completely voice-acted dialogue; A new sub-quest, and multiple endings; New puzzles, characters, and items (25% more items last time I checked); New context-sensitive controls - this means no clumsy inventory menu; Completely revised user interface; Better player handling, and less annoyingly fiddly jumps; Translations in French, Italian, German and Spanish; Reworked soundtrack - longer, sexier. Hopefully more people will be interested in the title on PC, because it didn't do too well on the Xbox 360. We'll let you know on price and on what digital distribution services you can expect to acquire it as soon as it's announced. [Via Casual Gaming]
