	Remember back to September 26th when <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/03/ihome-iw1-airplay-wireless-audio-system-review/">iHome's iW1 AirPlay speaker</a> was <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/01/ihomes-airplay-iw1-wireless-speaker-system-available-on-septemb/"><em>supposed</em></a> to be available? Curiously, the company's website continually listed the $300 system as "coming soon" (at least the times we checked), leaving <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/iOS/">iOS</a> and iTunes users yearning for this cable-free audio ware in the proverbial dust. Now, a full month later, iHome has again announced the release of this flagship wireless speaker, even though it's still out of stock itself. According to the company, a quick trip to an Apple Store, Best Buy or Crutchfield should let you snag one, although, the latter's site won't have any until November 3rd. Here's to hunting -- and waiting for the smaller <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/07/ihome-iw2-and-iw3-airplay-wireless-speakers-hands-on-sneak-peek/">iW2 and iW3</a> units to get proper release dates. Full details in the press release after the break.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/27/ihome-iw1-airplay-wirless-audio-system-finally-available-now-ag/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>iHome iW1 AirPlay wireless audio system finally available now, again, sort of</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/27/ihome-iw1-airplay-wirless-audio-system-finally-available-now-ag/">iHome iW1 AirPlay wireless audio system finally available now, again, sort of</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 27 Oct 2011 22:54:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">
		Believe it or not, it was way back at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/06/ihome-iw1-airplay-wireless-speaker-hands-on/">CES</a> that we first caught an in-person glimpse of iHome's flagship <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/airplay/">AirPlay</a>-enabled audio system -- a guy dubbed <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/01/ihomes-airplay-iw1-wireless-speaker-system-available-on-septemb/">iW1</a>. We've seen a steady trickle of AirPlay devices announced in the time since, but the iW1's been one of the earliest to splash down for the fall season. Priced at a moderate $300, it's a potential option for A) those who aren't keen on smacking down at least <em>double</em> the Benjamins for systems like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/05/bowers-and-wilkins-zeppelin-air-review/">B&amp;W Zeppelin Air</a> or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/21/libratones-airplay-enabled-soundbars-want-to-cozy-up-with-your/">Libratone's Live</a> or B) an alternative to other wireless systems like the similarly priced <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/01/sonos-play-3-review/">Sonos Play:3</a>.</div>
	<div style="text-align: left;">
		<br />
		Despite the iW1's low(ish) cost of adoption, though, it's packed with a bevy of tantalizing features (including app support, capacitive controls and a rechargeable battery), and a classy appearance, to boot. We put this modern-age boom box through its sound-reproducing paces for the past few weeks (much to our neighbors dismay). So, if you want to find out whether or not the iHome iW1 will pack a bang for your buck, hit that "read more" link below for our full review. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ihome-iw1-airplay-speaker-unboxing-and-hands-on/">iHome iW1 AirPlay wireless audio system review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ihome-iw1-airplay-speaker-unboxing-and-hands-on/#4471861"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/09/dsc0301-1316710928_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ihome-iw1-airplay-speaker-unboxing-and-hands-on/#4471862"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/09/dsc0304-1316710929_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ihome-iw1-airplay-speaker-unboxing-and-hands-on/#4471883"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/09/dsc0383_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ihome-iw1-airplay-speaker-unboxing-and-hands-on/#4471845"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/09/dsc0249-1316710918_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ihome-iw1-airplay-speaker-unboxing-and-hands-on/#4471880"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/09/dsc0363-1316710939_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div>

	It's been a while since we first got our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/06/ihome-iw1-airplay-wireless-speaker-hands-on/">hands on</a> the iW1 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/airplay">AirPlay</a>, but it won't be too much longer before iHome's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/10/ihomes-iw1-airplay-dock-gets-detailed/">wireless speaker system</a> hits the market. Yesterday, the company announced that the iW1 will be available on September 26th, for $300. For that price, you'll be able to stream music from your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, using the system's two three-inch woofers and duo of one-inch tweeters with Bongiovi processing. The six-pound iW1 also boasts a rechargeable lithium ion battery, allowing you to easily tote it to your next house party, and can be wirelessly connected using iHome's Home Connect app, available for free on iTunes. Blast past the break for the full press release, or hit up the source link for more detailed information.</div>

Took 'em long enough, huh? iHome's iA100 was actually <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/19/ihome-ia100ze-ipad-alarm-dock-raises-questions-supplies-few-ans/">introduced</a> way back in July, and at the time, it was essentially the only iPad-friendly home stereo system on the planet. Now, iHome has a bit of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/02/philips-fidelio-ds8550-ipad-speaker-dock-hands-on/">friendly competition</a> out there, but at least it's getting this guy out on store shelves long before the holiday shopping season hits full swing. For those who missed it the first go 'round, this here docking system touts Bongiovi Acoustics' DPS technology, an inbuilt alarm clock, Bluetooth and support for the iPad, iPhone and iPod via a 30-pin Dock Connector. Too bad it'll set you back a full $199.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/20/ihomes-ia100-ipad-stereo-speaker-system-now-on-sale-for-199/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>iHome's iA100 iPad stereo speaker system now on sale for $199</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/20/ihomes-ia100-ipad-stereo-speaker-system-now-on-sale-for-199/">iHome's iA100 iPad stereo speaker system now on sale for $199</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 20 Oct 2010 03:06:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">So, the iA100ZE iPad dock isn't <em>anywhere</em> in the same league as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/10/franz-ks-itar-transforms-your-ipad-into-a-keytar-puts-shame-in/">iTar</a>. To be fair, you can't fault iHome for trying to stir up some interest in an over-saturated market by strapping an iPad onto a fairly typical FM radio / alarm clock / dock. And if that's your bag, it certainly seems to be more than up to the task: iHome+Sleep app integration, Bluetooth, and that patented <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/bongiovi">Bongiovi punch</a>. Only a few questions have yet to be answered: when does it ship? For how much? And, most crucially, will you be able to sleep with an iPad shining in your face all night? Remember that totally snazzy <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/ihome-debuts-ip1-ipod-iphone-speaker-system/">iHome iP1</a> dock that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/14/ihome-ip1-isnt-bad-for-an-ipod-dock-packs-a-bongiovi-punch/">we toyed with</a> back in May? You know, the one with those boyish good looks and a curious Bongiovi Acoustics Digital Power Station chip built in? Yeah, that very iPod / iPhone dock is finally shipping to those willing to splurge, with a buck under $300 bringing you 100 watts of hair-raising rock through a pair of 4-inch woofers and 1-inch silk dome tweeters. Sure, it's pretty swank for an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/iPoddock/">iPod dock</a>, but can you imagine the fanfare if this thing was <em>Bon Jovi</em>-approved? Bonus footage is after the break.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://hothardware.com/News/iHome-Goes-Upscale-With-Ritzy-iP1-iPodiPhone-Dock-/">HotHardware</a>]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/12/bongiovi-equipped-ihome-ip1-ipod-iphone-dock-finally-ships/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bongiovi-equipped iHome iP1 iPod / iPhone dock finally ships</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/12/bongiovi-equipped-ihome-ip1-ipod-iphone-dock-finally-ships/">Bongiovi-equipped iHome iP1 iPod / iPhone dock finally ships</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 12 Aug 2009 07:26:00 EST. Tony Bongiovi, an audio engineer who's been around the block a time or two (read: he worked with Hendrix), has finally crafted the miracle chip he's been missing for decades. Dubbed the Digital Power Station (DPS, not to be confused with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/09/19/polk-lc265i-ip-lc80i-ip-in-wall-speakers-add-amp-dsp-network/">DSP</a>), the microchip is described as a "very sophisticated equalizer," and while it was originally "the size of a refrigerator," he looked to Glenn Zelniker, a specialist in digital signal processing, to program a wee chip to do the same thing. The result is a dynamically programmed microchip based on an off-the-shelf DSP from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/04/07/freescale-and-motorola-ditch-the-uwb-forum/">Freescale Semiconductor</a>, which is housed in special headunits (like JVC's KD-S100) and has more than "120 points of adjustment" to tune the tunes to fill each vehicle perfectly. Reportedly, the chip even turns factory speakers into high-fidelity drivers, as it calculates the dimensions of the vehicle and the abilities of the cones while outputting the audio. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/jvc/">JVC</a> unit will cost "between $700 and $1,000 installed," since you'll have to schedule an appointment with your service department to get the correct software installed for your make and model, but we'd suggest a trial listen before you plunk down your one large.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.physorg.com/news84538649.html">PhysOrg</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/transportation/" rel="tag">Transportation</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/17/bongiovi-acoustics-unveils-miracle-dsp-chip-for-car-audio/">Bongiovi Acoustics unveils miracle DSP chip for car audio</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 17 Dec 2006 01:16:00 EST.
