Remember just earlier this month when OffHollywood studio head Mark Pederson became the first man to own a RED EPIC? Well, now his $58,000 über camera is gone. According to REDUSER forums, the EPIC was heisted last night along with some cash from Pederson's chalet in France while he and his family were sleeping. Pederson shares on the forum that "there was a forced entry through the front door. The thieves actually entered the master bedroom while my in-laws were sleeping, and standing a foot from their bed - emptied wallet and purse. There were 6 children and 8 adults sleeping in the house." That's a scary caper worthy of a Hollywood script for sure, but thankfully no one was hurt. Here's hoping the movie-like storyline continues now with law enforcement gumshoes actually cracking the case. In the meantime, maybe Peter Jackson can lend Pederson one of his 30 RED EPICs until his own baby returns. Update: We just got word that RED honcho Jim Jannard is offering $100,000 to anyone who can provide information leading to the recovery of the device and a conviction of the thieves. In his words (from the RED forums): "We are now offering $100,000 for the safe return of EPIC #00006 and the rest of the system including the media with Mark's files... and the arrest and conviction of those that broke into Mark's chalet in France. We will ONLY pay this amount if there is an arrest and conviction of the parties as we are not interested to be ransomed by thieves." Now that is seriously putting your money where your mouth is! [Thanks, Derek and Cory]

With the Wii bursting at the seams with content this week, we've got two new Virtual Console games, imports, to check out. Up on the block is Break In and Star Parodier, both for the Turbografx16 (Star Parodier is a CD-ROM title, though). Hit up the video above to check out some footage and commentary, then head past the break for a little more.

This week brings lots of content to the Wii. We've got a pair of new Virtual Console games, some fresh WiiWare action and even some retail game love, for good measure. If you're looking for something new to enjoy on your Wii, then you're certainly in luck. The biggest title to release this week is undoubtedly Madden 09 All-Play. Were any of you looking forward to this one? Can't wait to go pick up your copy?Head past the break for the full details on what's new this week on Wii.

  • Virtual Console breaks in Star Soldier spoof

Break it to Make it! Did you hear? This week's Virtual Console update includes a video game adaptation of 80s dance flick, Breakin'. Finally we can live out our closet fantasies of break dancing in the shoes of Kelly, Ozone and -- personal fave -- Turbo. Oh, wait, that's not what the game is about? Monday mornings are so cruel. Break In (TurboGrafx16, 1-4 players, 700 Wii Points): No, there's no fancy footwork here. Instead, Nintendo offers up this decidedly break dance-free game of pool. So, yeah, it's pool. Star Parodier (TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM, 1 player, 900 Wii Points): Well, at least this is something to get excited over. A parody of Hudson shooter Star Soldier, here you'll be able to fly about and shoot down colorful bad guys as Star Soldier's Paro Ceaser, iconic pyro Bomberman, or a giant flying PC Engine that shoots cards and discs at enemies. That almost makes up for this morning's dissapointment.

  • Hudson bravely dates two VC games

Last week, Hudson put a date of August 4 on their Virtual Console site's Ys Book I & II entry. And ... we know how that worked out. It's back in the "to be released" area, dated for sometime this month. Despite the troubles, they've gone ahead and put dates on two more Virtual Console games. If Nintendo feels like going along with it, we can maybe expect Star Parodier and Break In this Monday. Break In may be a pool game, but we've been looking forward to the previously import-only, goofy Star Soldier cute-em-up for a while. Hudson used to be accurate with their release dates, so it's not ... impossible that these games will actually show up Monday.

  • VC Tuesday: Ji-noog

That's how you pronounce "Gynoug!" Until we saw it written in Japanese katakana (a system that has the benefit of being predictably phonetic), we totally pronounced the title of NCS's shooter "Guy-noog." How embarrassing! We hope we didn't sound stupid the last time we were talking about it in public, which was approximately never. Although we're not the only ones -- even Wikipedia's got an inaccurate IPA transcription! Of course, here in the States we call it Wings of Wor, and we never really had occasion to talk about it either. It's not that our friends aren't as into retrogaming as we are, it's more that they don't exist. Front Mission Series: Gun Hazard (Super Famicom, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points) Gynoug (Mega Drive, 1 player, 600 Wii Points) Break In (PC Engine, 1-4 players, 600 Wii Points) Fatal Fury 2 (Neo Geo, 1-2 players, 900 Wii Points)

  • VC Friday: Cho Aniki and the return of the Neo Geo

We were already totally pumped about getting Cho Aniki on the European and Aussie Virtual Consoles, but our faces lit up when we saw what else was lying in store for us this morning. Metal Slug is the first Neo Geo game to appear on the download service since December 14th, but what a comeback! From a value-for-money perspective, we'd still recommend picking up Metal Slug Anthology (especially now that it's so cheap), but it's great to see SNK's classic series represented on the VC (and this version even has Classic Controller support). Puyo Puyo 2 and TurboGrafx billiards title Break In complete this week's line-up. Cho Aniki -- TurboGrafx-16 -- 900 Wii Points Metal Slug -- Neo Geo -- 900 Wii Points Break In -- TurboGrafx-16 -- 700 Wii Points Puyo Puyo 2 -- Mega Drive -- 900 Wii Points Hop in your Slug and blast your way past the break to see all four in action!

  • Break In rated for VC, isn't as exciting as it sounds

The latest future Virtual Console game to show up on the ESRB is a Turbografx-16 title by the name of Break In. Sounds exciting, right? This game was published by Alien Crush/Devil's Crush publisher Naxat Soft in 1989, and it never made it out of Japan. This ESRB rating means that it's going to be released in the U.S. for the first time.Unfortunately, the awesome title of Break In has been squandered on a pool game. We were pretty disappointed, after seeing a game called Break In and imagining some kind of unknown police-style brawler or something, to find it was some pool thing.
