Things are looking lively around the Wargaming.net offices. What with World of Tanks' recent 8.0 update as well as the news that 40 million people have registered accounts with the company, these are the salad days for the action MMO studio. Now comes word of WoT's next patch, and 8.1 is bringing with it a whole slew of British heavy armor. "The Brits invented the first tank, pioneering the evolution of the whole industry, and it's an honor for us to greet them in World of Tanks," says producer Mike Zhivets. The patch will allow players to master everything from the Vickers Medium Mk I to the heavyweight FV 214 Conqueror as well as the legendary Churchill tanks. No release date has been set as of yet, but you can learn more at the official WoT website. [Source: Wargaming.net press release]

With World of Tanks' 7.5 patch released just over a week ago, Wargaming.net is wasting no time rolling ahead toward patch 8.0. This next update focuses on enhancing the experience of the game through improved visuals and new physics. In 8.0, a number of maps will receive updated graphics, including Himmelsdorf, Lekville, Fjords, Arctic Region, and Westfield, among others. If your favorite map isn't included, don't fret; the studio notes that maps not getting the improvements this round will be retouched in future updates. The patch will also introduce new physics for more realistic battles. And along with more Soviet TD's for tiers 6 through 10, tank commanders will get to storm the battlefield in the first British Premium tank, the Matilda Black Prince. Feast your eyes on the graphic upgrades (as well as some apparent games of tank chicken) in the teaser trailer past the cut. [Source: Wargaming.net press release]

If you like big band music and British heavy armor, the latest World of Tanks CG trailer is for you. The clip shows off some of the new hardware coming to Wargaming.net's lobby-based World War II actioner in the next patch. The Crusader, the Black Prince, the Centurion, and the Conqueror are just a few of the British tanks that will join the game's extensive tech tree, and producer Sergey Burkatovskiy says the lengthy wait for new armor was worth it. "The British tanks are by far the most intriguing models we've come across over the course of World of Tanks development," he says. Head past the cut to view the trailer, then check out the WoT website for further details. [Source: Wargaming.net press release]
