Toys R Us, Amazon do buy one, get one half-off on all video games
The corporate brain trust at Toys R Us has discovered the ancient retail secret of Yuletide deals and rival Amazon is looking to match. Through December 10 (and until supplies last at Amazon), both retailers' entire stock of video games and video game accessories will be buy one, get one half-off. But if you're more for the bending parts and kung-fu grip, you'll have to stick with Toys R Us -- there are deals on Nerf guns, action figures and Lego stuff to consider. Something called Zhu Zhu Pets is also on sale at Goeffrey Giraffe's, though we're not really sure what that thing is. We'd Google it but, to be honest, the last time we did that it didn't end so well. We never really figured out how to turn the safe search on.
Select 3DS and DS titles are buy one, get one half off on Amazon
Just in time for the recent price drop of the DS Lite, Amazon is offering up a buy one, get one half off sale on quite a few excellent DS and 3DS titles. Eight pages of DS titles are covered by the offer, including New Super Mario Bros., Okamiden and Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. Among the 3DS games included in the sale, you'll find Pilotwings Resort, Ridge Racer 3DS, Steel Diver, Super Monkey Ball 3D and the Nintendogs + Cats games. The sale description warns that supplies for the sale are limited, and that Amazon may pull the sale at any time, so we don't know when it will all end. But it's a nice chance to expand your 3DS or DS library nonetheless.
Buy one 3DS game, get one half off at Toys R Us this Sunday
If you're going to lay out $250 for a 3DS next week, we're guessing you really wouldn't mind hearing about a way to save money on games. On March 27, the day the system launches, Toys R Us will offer a "buy one, get one half off" deal on all 3DS games. In addition, if you're not quite sure about that 3DS yet, many TRU locations will feature 3DS demos from 12-3 PM on Sunday. The store is also offering up to $75 on trade-ins of DS hardware towards a 3DS, but getting rid of your DS is something we'd advise against.

If you find yourself in need of some portable games, you may want to avail yourself of the sale Amazon is currently running. The site is offering a buy one, get one half off deal on a huge selection of DS games, including favorites like Super Scribblenauts, Plants vs. Zombies, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn and more. Before you ask, no, Pokemon Black and White are not included. Still, several hundred titles are part of the promotion, so there's bound to be something in there for just about anyone.
Best Buy offering buy-one-get-one-half-off for 360 games
Last week, Canadians were privy to a fantastic deal, netting them Batman's latest adventure for $40. This week, American gamers are being treated to a buy-one-get-one-half-off promotion at Best Buy on a laundry list of Xbox 360 software. The deal is pretty simple: Purchase one qualifying Xbox 360 title and get a second game (of equal or lesser value) for 50% off. To sweeten the deal Best Buy is even throwing in free shipping for your purchase.Strangely, the fine print mentions gamers can only select items that are currently in stock, but list Modern Warfare 2 as one of the qualifying titles. Keep in mind that this offer can end at any time, so if you're looking to stock up for the winter season now is as good a time as any.[Thanks, vidGuy!]
