Audio specialist Jabra is renowned for high-end products that live up to their price tags, but in recent years they’ve also mastered solid entry-level hardware that’s also worth a look (or listen). Case in point, the affordable Elite 45h on-ear headphones, which are now cheaper than ever at $70 on Amazon. Back in July, our resident audiophile Billy Steele described them as the “most comfortable on-ear headphones” he’d ever tested.

A series of missteps put Microsoft in second place before the Xbox One even came out. While it's likely to remain there until the next generation begins, there are a lot of people out there who have never experienced what the console has to offer. With the Xbox One X having a clear advantage over Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro when it comes to gaming on a 4K TV, there's never been a better time to jump in.

A beginners guide to buying a synth

It's no secret that there's a growing interest in synths, drum machines and other electronic music instruments. There are many reasons for that -- most obviously because electronic music is now popular music. But it's also because improved technology and manufacturing have driven the prices of such devices low enough that even the most casual musician can dabble. Plus there are a dizzying number of options for you to choose from at the entry level. So how do you get started? Should you get a portable and affordable Volca? Or that new Model:Cycles that we liked so much? And are Behringers actually any good? I know you have a lot of questions, so let's get right to it.

Amazon is selling the Pixel 4 at its lowest price ever

We've seen Amazon and a variety of other retailers discount the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL several times over the last couple of months. However, this time you around, you can buy the smaller Pixel 4 at its lowest price ever. The 64GB Just Black model is currently on sale for $550, down from $799. You can also get the Clearly White model on sale, but it's discounted by a more modest $132. If you feel like 64GB isn't enough storage, the 128GB Just Black model is $250 off at the moment, making it $650.

The Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid works as promised, but only for small batches

    by

The Instant Pot has garnered a huge fan base in recent years, and for good reason. Yes, it replaces your slow cooker and you can make yogurt in it (in some models anyway) but its real claim to fame is as an electric pressure cooker that can significantly shorten cooking time. Imagine braised short ribs in under an hour, or homemade pho in 30 minutes. The best part is that you can just set the timer and walk away, without having to tend to it like you would a stovetop version. It's been over two years since I purchased my Instant Pot Ultra, and it remains one of my favorite kitchen appliances. That said, I found myself lusting after yet another trendy kitchen appliance: the air fryer. The idea behind it is that it can "fry" foods with just hot air and without the oily mess that deep-frying entails. However, as publications like Wirecutter and Cook's Illustrated point out, air fryers are nothing more than re-packaged convection ovens. If you do want crispy "air-fried" foods, Wirecutter recommends getting a countertop convection oven instead, which obviously has a lot more features than just air frying.

Google's Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are $200 off at Amazon

Another month means another Pixel 4 sale. This time around, you can get $200 off Google's latest flagship. Amazon has cut the price of the 64GB Clearly White and Just Black models to $599, down from $799. While this isn't the lowest price we've seen on the Pixel 4, it's close. And, in any case, $200 off is nothing to scoff at.

The best pre-Super Bowl deals for 4K TVs and streaming

    by

With the big game right around the corner -- I mean Super Bowl LIV, in case that isn't clear -- it's once again time to consider making a TV upgrade. If you need a little something extra to make sure football fans stop by your party instead of staying home, a bigger and brighter setup will go further than pushing your array of snacks. Plus, while many of these deals are online, shopping locally can give you an opportunity to see the screen in person, or make for a quick return if you find out that it's just too wide for the stand you wanted to put it on. (I should've measured first.) With prices nearly as low as we saw during the Black Friday push, and likely as low as they'll get until sets start hitting clearance shelves, you have your choice of equipment. Also worth considering is the fact that this year, for the first time, you can watch a Fox Sports 4K/HDR feed. It's upconverted from 1080p, but judging from my experience watching Thursday Night Football earlier in the season, it's sharp and vibrant enough to justify switching over if you can. Fox's plan to capture the game includes eight 4K cameras, as well as three 8K cameras trained on the sidelines and benches -- you'll want every super slow motion zoom-in to look as good as possible.

My quest to fix my terrible home WiFi

When I was young -- in high school or so -- my sister and I had a system worked out. Our Comcast cable internet service routinely seemed to flake out, so she and I would take turns running downstairs to the router, unplugging it, waiting for what felt like the most torturous 30 seconds possible and plugging the router back in. It was obnoxious enough back then, but now that our respective homes are filled with even more hardware clamoring for internet connections, the idea of half-assing a home network seems even tougher to endure. And yet, that's exactly what I've been doing, even now.

Decades of science fiction assured us all that, yes, one day we'd be able to control the immensely complex gadgetry around us with just our voices. It was right, mostly. The rise of the virtual assistant, built atop still other developments in cloud computing and machine learning, means we can wonder out loud what the weather is like, or how far away the moon is, or hail a car and expect a response from a carefully crafted voice in moments. And now, those disembodied voices have taken up residence in our homes.

    Walmart's weekend sale includes a $150 Xbox One S All-Digital Edition

Microsoft's cheapest Xbox One S is back to the lowest price we've seen, and is available for $150 at Walmart this weekend, $100 off the regular price. A few Black Friday deals saw the All-Digital version of the console drop to a price that low, but now that we're in a new year -- and we all know when the Xbox Series X is coming -- maybe it's a little more clear that you'd like an HDR-ready version of the Xbox One to hold you over. It's not as powerful as the pricier Xbox One X, but if all you want to do is watch 4K video and play a few downloaded games -- or maybe do some xCloud streaming in the future -- then it fits the bill, and for a lower price than other consoles -- even the Nintendo Switch. With this bundle, it even throws in Sea of Thieves, Minecraft and Fortnite with 2,000 V-bucks and a special skin. Buy Xbox One S 1 TB All-Digital Edition on Walmart - $150

2016 indie hit 'Hyper Light Drifter' is free in the Epic Games Store

The Epic Holiday Sale is still going, and today's daily free game is Hyper Light Drifter. The top-down action RPG was crowdfunded a few years ago before it was eventually released in 2016, and now you can try it out yourself for zero dollars. Hyper Light Drifter's 88 Metacritic score and list of awards won indicates it's at least worth your time among the slew of retro 2D games that fill digital store shelves. Plus, now is a great time to try it out before Heart Machine drops its next game, Solar Ash Kingdom, which features "wild high-speed traversal" and massive enemy encounters in a surreal world. Epic's free offer lasts through 11 AM ET on Saturday, although if you miss out or just prefer to fill your Steam library, it's available there for $10, 50 percent off the usual price, until January 2nd.

Sega's Genesis Mini is just $45 today

Following years of shoddy third-party consoles, Sega took matters into its own hands and produced a replica console worthy of the Genesis name. The Genesis Mini has everything we look for in a miniature: a faithful design, a great collection of games and solid performance. It scored 89 in our review back in September, with praise for its large selection of titles, faithful emulation, high build quality and intelligent interface. The only negatives we found were the controllers (they're fine, but we would've liked to see the six-button rather than the three-button controllers) and that some games don't quite hit the mark.

  • The Fujifilm X100F is on sale at $900

    by
    Aaron Souppouris

    12.25.2019

We love Fujifilm's X100F, but it's definitely not for everyone. It's a fixed-lens APS-C camera best suited for street photography, blending the excellent 24.3-megapixel X-Trans sensor found in mirrorless models like the X-T2 with a 23mm (35mm equivalent) f/2 lens. As is par for course with Fujifilm cameras, you'll find a ton of traditional dials for controlling ISO, aperture and exposure compensation. The X100F is also fairly flexible, with a hybrid viewfinder that can operate like a rangefinder, a traditional EVF or a blend between the two. One thing it's not, though, is cheap. At $1,300, you've always had to really want the X100F to even consider buying it. What about $900, though? That's the price it's just dropped to on Amazon, and... I'm very tempted.
