Every week, WoW Insider brings you Spiritual Guidance for discipline, holy and shadow priests. On Wednesdays, shadow priesting expert Fox Van Allen comes from out of the darkness to bask in your loving adoration (and say really controversial stuff, apparently). Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest. With patch 4.2, our own legendary came at last. The power of the weapon is absolutely unmatched. By virtue of the staff's stats, it's the shadow priest's best-in-slot weapon for patch 4.2 and likely for patch 4.3 as well. Beyond that, though, Dragonwrath is worth thousands of extra DPS by virtue of its spell-duplication proc alone. And did I mention that it can also turn you into a giant friggin' blue dragon? Why wouldn't you want this thing? But like everything worth doing, getting the Dragonwrath doesn't come easy. To score this epic, you need to put in your time in the Firelands, beat down some bosses, and then undergo Through a Glass, Darkly, the hardest solo quest your shadow priest will ever suffer. Are you ready?

  • Patch 4.2: Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest proc potentially uncovered

Dragonwrath, the upcoming legendary staff, had its stats revealed recently -- but it was missing its proc, which is arguably the most interesting part of legendary weapons. What is Thunderfury without its lightning? What is Val'anyr without its bubbles? Wowhead believes it has found Dragonwrath's proc while mining away at the data in today's patch 4.2 PTR build. They discovered the spell Wrath of Tarecgosa (applied to the caster by a passive aura), which provides a chance to duplicate the damage caused by an offensive damaging spell. The effect of this damage would also be called Wrath of Tarecgosa, and the damage would be dealt as arcane damage. Double Pyroblasts, anyone? It should be noted that this information is on the PTR and is in no way final. This could be just one effect Blizzard is experimenting with, or it may ultimately be used for something completely different. It is, however, the best lead we've seen so far. The news is already rolling out for the upcoming WoW Patch 4.2! Preview the new Firelands raid, marvel at the new legendary staff, and get the inside scoop on new quest hubs -- plus new Tier 12 armor!

  • Patch 4.2: Stats for Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest revealed

A new build of patch 4.2 hit the PTR today (that's build 14040, for all of you keeping count). Every new build carries with it new information, and this one is no different. Datamining is still ongoing, but the big news so far has been the reveal of more details regarding the legendary DPS caster staff, Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest. Here's what we know about the new patch 4.2 legendary so far: Preliminary stats for Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest and its lesser versions (Branch of Nordrassil; Runestaff of Nordrassil) have been revealed (courtesy of Wowhead News). Dragonwrath itself will be an ilevel 404 two-hander with 440 points of intellect, 689 stamina, 324 points of hit, 256 points of crit, 2,633 spellpower, and three red slots (with a +30 intellect slot bonus). Once a guild completes the staff, its members will obtain Lil' Tarecgosa, a companion pet. Per the Dragonwrath preview offered by Blizzard a few weeks ago, obtaining the staff will require the completion of an "epic questline" that can only be started by players who have completed all three of the currently existing Cataclysm raid instances. The staff lets its holder transform into a blue dragon. Awesome. We've been blessed with a slow trickle of information about this legendary staff, but there are a lot of questions still to be answered. We don't know all the specifics about how the staff will be created, especially regarding what will be required of raid teams. We also don't know what kind of proc Dragonwrath will have (assuming it does eventually have one, like the legendaries preceding it). Despite this, though, one thing is known for sure -- this is clearly shadow priest loot. (Ahem.) The news is already rolling out for the upcoming WoW Patch 4.2! Preview the new Firelands raid, marvel at the new legendary staff, and get the inside scoop on new quest hubs -- plus new Tier 12 armor!

  • Arcane Brilliance: Patch 4.1 PTR for mages, (very) early edition

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Arcane Brilliance for arcane, fire and frost mages. This week, we discuss the upcoming patch 4.1, which hit the PTR in the wee hours of Thursday here in the North Americas, sending WoW bloggers everywhere into an early morning, sleep-deprived fit of feverish typing, followed by a deep and possibly fatal sugar and caffeine coma. For those who were lost, we mourn you -- but not for long because we gots deadlines, yo. So yeah. In case you've been stranded in some Mesopotamian nation or another without internet access for the past few days, we've got a new patch on the PTR. It's not the most earth-shattering patch we've seen, but for some reason I'm just inordinately excited about it. I woke up this morning with dreams of raptors, tiger/panthers, and armored bears fresh in my mind. I was quite sad when Zul'Gurub vanished from the game, but every time I flew over that part of Stranglethorn Vale and saw that the ancient troll city was still there, empty and tigerless, I felt a surge of hope that until the structures themselves vanished, the instance wasn't truly gone. Just the idea that Blizzard is willing to take old raids and turn them into heroic 5-mans for me to churn through in my daily valor point farming efforts is a cause for celebration. Though old 5-mans get new life whenever you level a new alt through the old content, no single part of the game falls into misuse more completely than obsolete endgame content. To see some of it repurposed in such a relevant way, well ... I'm just giddy. Like a schoolgirl, only male and 30ish. Similar outfits, though. Cough. So there's a lot there to look forward to, you may be saying, but what about mages? I come here to read about magecraft and also to hear about how warlocks drink their own urine. Where's the info on the parts of the patch that are specific to me? I hear you, reader who I just made up. Read on, and we'll talk all about the few but significant mage changes we can expect in patch 4.1.
