Okay, picture an ASUS Eee PC 1015. Got it? Good -- now picture it with <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/amd,fusion">AMD Fusion</a> internals. Boom: the 1015B is born. We spied versions in both white and black trim here at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CeBIT/">CeBIT</a>, promising 1080p output in your choice of 1.2GHz single-core and 1GHz dual-core APUs, both with ATI Radeon HD 6250 graphics, 1GB of RAM (expandable to 2), and Bluetooth 3.0 along with 802.11b/g/n WiFi. If you're looking for something a little beefier, ASUS has a Fusion remake of the 1215, too -- the 1215B -- with many of the same features but the added benefit of a larger 12.1-inch WXGA LCD, an optional 1.6GHz AMD E350 dual-core processor, and up to 4GB of RAM. No word on when these will be in retail channels, but by all appearances, these are production or very-near-production models on display here at the show, so we imagine they'll be popping up any time now.<br />

Come on, you had to know that one of our first stops at CeBIT was going to be the ASUS booth to see if we could get a glimpse at the leaked 10-inch <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/25/asus-eee-pc-1018p-1016p-and-1015p-prepping-for-a-cebit-debut/">Eee PC 1018P and 1016P</a>. Though they will be officially announced at ASUS's press conference tomorrow we got some time to play around with the new aluminum netbooks, and they sure beat any of the plastic Eee PCs we've been groping for the past few years. The overall build quality feels great, and with the flush battery they are both seriously slim and light. We wish ASUS had equipped the systems with metal keyboards to match the expanded aluminum touchpads, but the plastic keys felt plenty sturdy under our fingers. As for specs, the placards claim that they will have the new Intel N470 processors (and some peculiar N455 and N475 CPU choices), 2GB of RAM and 10 hours of battery life. We're still trying to figure out the difference between the two models, but our guess is that the 1016P will have 3G, while the 1018P sticks just to WiFi. Also, no confirmation yet on that rumored USB 3.0, but until we find out more details at tomorrow's press conference we've got you covered with the hands-on pics and video below. <br />

Looks like there won't be a shortage of new laptops and netbooks next week at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CeBIT/">CeBIT</a>, and if <em>Blogeee</em> is to be believed ASUS will be showing up with at least three new 10.1-inch Eee PCs. The most exciting of the bunch seem to be the executive-aimed 1016P and 1018P, which will both apparently have an aluminum chassis and 14 hours of battery life. The .7-inch 1018P is said to be the thinnest netbook ASUS has ever created, and sport an integrated fingerprint reader and USB 3.0.<span id="intelliTxt" name="intelliTxt"> Uh, USB 3.0 in a netbook? We don't see why not. Finally there's the </span>1015P, which seems to just be an refresh of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/21/asus-eee-pc-1005pe-review/">1005PE </a>with a matte display and a wider touchpad. It sounds triple E exciting, but we promise to find out more on these little guys next week when we are live in Deutschland.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/25/asus-eee-pc-1018p-1016p-and-1015p-prepping-for-a-cebit-debut/">ASUS Eee PC 1018P, 1016P and 1015P prepping for a CeBIT debut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 25 Feb 2010 18:37:00 EST. A number of you bemoaned the fact that MSI's WindBOX <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/05/msi-windbox-dismounts-lcd-acts-all-proper-at-cebit/">lacked an oh-so-necessary HDMI port</a>, so maybe the better option for you is an LCD mounted <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/04/asus-rolls-out-hd-minded-eee-box-206/">Eee Box 206</a>. Yep, the HD-minded mini PC was set up here in Hannover, with one of the units hosted up nicely on the rear of a flat-panel monitor. The fit was flush and the connections were easily accessible, so those looking for a nice, if not underpowered media center should definitely give this one a glance. Speaking of glances, you do cast some right now in the gallery below.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hdmi-equipped-asus-eee-box-206-eyes-on/">HDMI-equipped ASUS Eee Box 206 eyes-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hdmi-equipped-asus-eee-box-206-eyes-on/#1411497"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-box-206-cebit_2469_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hdmi-equipped-asus-eee-box-206-eyes-on/#1411522"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-box-206-cebit_2470_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hdmi-equipped-asus-eee-box-206-eyes-on/#1411517"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-box-206-cebit_2471_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hdmi-equipped-asus-eee-box-206-eyes-on/#1411509"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-box-206-cebit_2472_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hdmi-equipped-asus-eee-box-206-eyes-on/#1411511"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-box-206-cebit_2473_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/05/hdmi-equipped-asus-eee-box-206-eyes-on/">HDMI-equipped ASUS Eee Box 206 eyes-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 05 Mar 2009 17:59:00 EST. The Eee Dock app launcher is making its debut on this here netbook, giving users an easy way to access a few common areas from a pull-out dock that can be positioned on the top, bottom or left / right sides. While we assume the 1008HA we toyed with had been on for days sans a reboot, the Eee Dock was a touch sluggish, though it did seem to get the job done if you weren't expecting lighting fast reactions. Our biggest knock was the inability to customize what apps and locations could pop out from the main menu, though we're cautiously hoping ASUS adds that ability in the future. Hit play above to have a look, or feel free to browse the stills below if that's more your style.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/video-eee-dock-app-launcher-demoed-on-eee-pc-1008ha/">Video: Eee Dock app launcher demoed on Eee PC 1008HA</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/video-eee-dock-app-launcher-demoed-on-eee-pc-1008ha/#1411208"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus_eee_dock_cebit_2506_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/video-eee-dock-app-launcher-demoed-on-eee-pc-1008ha/#1411204"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus_eee_dock_cebit_2507_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/video-eee-dock-app-launcher-demoed-on-eee-pc-1008ha/#1411207"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus_eee_dock_cebit_2508_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/video-eee-dock-app-launcher-demoed-on-eee-pc-1008ha/#1411209"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus_eee_dock_cebit_2509_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/video-eee-dock-app-launcher-demoed-on-eee-pc-1008ha/#1411206"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus_eee_dock_cebit_2510_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/05/video-eee-dock-app-launcher-demoed-on-eee-pc-1008ha/">Video: Eee Dock app launcher demoed on Eee PC 1008HA </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 05 Mar 2009 15:26:00 EST. While we initially assumed that ASUS' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/03/hands-on-asus-lamborghini-vx5-laptop/">Lamborghini VX5</a> would be its sexiest laptop at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CeBIT/">CeBIT</a>, now we're having second thoughts. After taking the wraps off of its downright stunning <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/03/asus-debuts-the-eee-pc-1008ha-shell-10-inch-ultraportable/">10-inch Eee PC 1008HA</a> yesterday, we spotted the bugger sittin' pretty today at the outfit's booth. Needless to say, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to snag a few snapshots and share 'em all with you. Much like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/S101/">S101</a>, the so-called "Shell" has very little "Eee" in its blood. In fact, you'd barely know it was part of the family without that descriptive placard sitting there beside it. ASUS engineered this one for fashionistas who'd like a little PC with their next style accessory, and everything from the glorious paint job to the ultra-clean lines screamed "gorgeous." Really, take a look below and see for yourself.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1008ha-hands-on/">ASUS Eee PC 1008HA hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1008ha-hands-on/#1403404"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-1000ha_1836_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1008ha-hands-on/#1403405"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-1000ha_1837_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1008ha-hands-on/#1403406"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-1000ha_1838_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1008ha-hands-on/#1403407"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-1000ha_1839_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1008ha-hands-on/#1403408"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-1000ha_1840_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/04/asus-eee-pc-1008ha-hands-on/">ASUS Eee PC 1008HA hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 04 Mar 2009 05:38:00 EST. ASUS has taken the wraps off its latest Eee PC, the 1008HA <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/27/asus-eee-pc-shell-ultra-thin-netbook-launching-april/">we heard was on the way</a> to follow up on the S101. As far as anyone can tell -- ASUS is a little coy on specs so far -- the laptop harbors fairly traditional netbook specs and a netbook pricepoint, but the exterior is all new and rather attractive. The computer is 1-inch thick and weighs 2.4 pounds, with a curved, shiny plastic "shell" (ASUS calls it "pearlescent") to give a bit more luster than the average Eee PC. ASUS is including 802.11n, Bluetooth, 3G and WiMAX options, and packing in it Eee Sharing and Eee Arena software. We'll be looking to dig up more specs and some hands-on time with this unit this week at CeBIT.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.umpcportal.com/2009/03/eee-pc-1008ha-image-set">UMPCPortal</a>]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1008ha-press-shots/">ASUS Eee PC 1008HA press shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1008ha-press-shots/#1401344"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/1008ha-specs_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1008ha-press-shots/#1401322"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/1008ha-press-001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1008ha-press-shots/#1401321"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/1008ha-press-002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1008ha-press-shots/#1401320"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/1008ha-press-003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1008ha-press-shots/#1401319"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/1008ha-press-004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/03/asus-debuts-the-eee-pc-1008ha-shell-10-inch-ultraportable/">ASUS debuts the Eee PC 1008HA "Shell" 10-inch ultraportable</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 03 Mar 2009 13:51:00 EST. Remember that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/asus-eee-keyboard-revealed/">Eee Keyboard</a> that was announced during CES? <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ASUS/">ASUS</a> did itself proud by bringing a few to CeBIT this year, and we were able to swing by and take a look. The 5-inch, 800 x 480 touchpad was looking mighty fine, and the Atom N270 within seemed plenty powerful. It's a touch hard to believe that ASUS was able to shove a 16GB SSD, 1GB of RAM, WiFi and Bluetooth modules, VGA / HDMI ouputs and a few USB 2.0 ports within a slim, elegant keyboard, but somehow or another it did. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ASUS/">ASUS</a> broke out a stable of Eee PCs here in Germany, and we were on hand to have a look at all of the freshest ones. The pivoting, swiveling <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/23/asus-eee-pc-t91-sits-down-for-photo-shoot-early-critique/">T91</a> (or T91GO, as it were) courted us most heavily, though we will admit, even our pansy man hands felt like they were going to twist the swivel screen right off. The touchscreen functionality seemed decent enough, but the spongy display left a bit to be desired. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/20/asus-begins-shipping-ultra-longevous-eee-pc-1000he/">1000HE</a> was also on display with its purported 9.5 hours of battery life, as was the WWAN-packin' 1003HGO. See for yourself if our word ain't good enough.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-asus-galleria-of-eee-pcs-at-cebit/">Hands-on with ASUS' galleria of Eee PCs at CeBIT</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-asus-galleria-of-eee-pcs-at-cebit/#1397437"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-pcs-cebit1317_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-asus-galleria-of-eee-pcs-at-cebit/#1397442"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-pcs-cebit1318_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-asus-galleria-of-eee-pcs-at-cebit/#1397446"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-pcs-cebit1319_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-asus-galleria-of-eee-pcs-at-cebit/#1397448"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-pcs-cebit1320_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-asus-galleria-of-eee-pcs-at-cebit/#1397450"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-pcs-cebit1321_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/tabletpcs/" rel="tag">Tablet PCs</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/03/hands-on-with-asus-galleria-of-eee-pcs-at-cebit/">Hands-on with ASUS' galleria of Eee PCs at CeBIT</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 03 Mar 2009 03:58:00 EST. Between the <em>Commercial Times</em> and <em>DigiTimes</em>, no secret is safe within ASUS. The former is reporting (via the latter) that ASUS will launch its second generation ultra-thin Eee PC in April as followup to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/24/asus-eee-pc-s101-reviewed-sexy-but-not-quite-stellar/">Eee PC S101</a>. The Eee PC Shell, as it's supposedly called would mark a welcome departure from ASUS' staid alphanumeric naming convention and is said to be easier to carry than the S101 while bringing higher specs and a longer battery life for just NT$17,000 - 20,000 ($486 - $571) -- that's well below the S101's $699 suggested retail price. The name Shell, of course, would seem to imply a curved, clamshell design. Now, with one of ASUS' favorite events, CeBIT, starting next week, we'd expect an announcement to be days away if the rumor is true -- a high probability what with the launch of yesterday's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/26/asus-eee-pc-901-with-20gb-ssd-and-6-cell-battery-now-just-268/">Eee PC firesale</a> and Intel's new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/25/intel-launches-shapely-new-cpus-for-slim-new-laptops/">CULV processors</a> for ultra-slim laptops prepped for a March launch.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/27/asus-eee-pc-shell-ultra-thin-netbook-launching-april/">ASUS Eee PC 'Shell' ultra-thin netbook launching in April?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 27 Feb 2009 06:59:00 EST. An Eee PC costing <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/03/eee-pc-901-and-1000-series-specs-and-pricing/">$550 just 8 months ago</a> is now selling for less than half that price from a trio of major on-line retailers. In an apparent across-the-board price cut, several SSD-based EEE PC 901 models have been slashed with your choice of Linux or XP. Most notable is the 8.9-inch netbook configured with a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, 1GB memory, 20GB SSD, Linux, and 6-cell battery. Careful though: the European CeBIT show (an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/cebit%2Ceee%20pc">ASUS favorite event</a>) is just days away and with it should come a few new Eee PC models running <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/25/intel-launches-shapely-new-cpus-for-slim-new-laptops/">the</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/n280">latest</a> Intel processors and chipsets. We showed you quite a bit of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/03/hands-on-with-the-9-inch-eee-pc/">9-inch Eee PC</a> from ASUS yesterday, but they wouldn't let us turn it on. Now that CeBIT has officially begun, however, ASUS is lighting up those pixels loud and proud. ASUS tells us the screen is 1024 x 600, and it looks to be almost the exact same pixel density as the 7-inch version. The computer was being shown in both Linux and Windows XP versions, so it looks like you'll be able to have your choice of OS when the 9-incher is released later this year.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-9-inch-eee-pc-now-with-living-pixels/">ASUS' 9-inch Eee PC, now with living pixels!</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-9-inch-eee-pc-now-with-living-pixels/#675505"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-9-screen-065_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-9-inch-eee-pc-now-with-living-pixels/#675506"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-9-screen-066_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-9-inch-eee-pc-now-with-living-pixels/#675507"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-9-screen-067_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-9-inch-eee-pc-now-with-living-pixels/#675508"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-9-screen-068_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-9-inch-eee-pc-now-with-living-pixels/#675509"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-9-screen-069_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/04/asus-9-inch-eee-pc-now-with-living-pixels/">ASUS' 9-inch Eee PC, now with living pixels!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 04 Mar 2008 06:20:00 EST. We know you need it. Now you've got it. ASUS' 7- and 9-inch Eee PCs lined up for a side by side comparison. The new 9-incher is clearly the bigger brother to the shorter original. Too bad too 'cause that chunky bezel on the 7-inch already offers plenty of room for screen-estate growth. You can also clearly see the bigger touchpad and beefier display hinge of the new 9-inch. Check the gallery to see all the hot 9- on 7-inch action.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hot-9-inch-on-7-inch-eee-pc-action/">Hot 9-inch on 7-inch Eee PC action</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hot-9-inch-on-7-inch-eee-pc-action/#673215"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/eee-pc--cimg1699--comparison_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hot-9-inch-on-7-inch-eee-pc-action/#673218"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/eee-pc--cimg1699--comparison-up_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hot-9-inch-on-7-inch-eee-pc-action/#673210"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/eee-pc--cimg1700--comparison_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hot-9-inch-on-7-inch-eee-pc-action/#673209"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/eee-pc--cimg1704--comparison_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hot-9-inch-on-7-inch-eee-pc-action/#673213"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/eee-pc--cimg1705--comparison_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/03/7-inch-eee-pc-vs-9-inch-eee-pc-ready-fight/">7-inch Eee PC vs 9-inch Eee PC -- ready, fight!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 03 Mar 2008 12:18:00 EST. If you hadn't guessed from the headline, and as rumored <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/03/asus-set-to-announce-9-inch-eee-pc-900/">just an hour ago</a>, there's 9-inches of LCD on this thing. Actually, 8.9, but who's counting? We found out that and a few other little tidbits about this Eee PC "New Generation" at the ASUS booth just now, but for the most part the 9-inch Eee PC is quite similar to its 7-inch <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/eeepc">forebearer</a>. Anything past that ASUS is saving for tomorrow's press event when this laptop will become officially official, but whatever they end up calling it (Eee PC 900 is rumored), it's certainly for real. The battery impact of the new display is said to be "negligible," with 2.5 to 3 hours of battery quoted. ASUS wouldn't let us turn it on since it's all so very secret at the moment, but they did confirm some release details. The 9-inch Eee will hit in the "middle" of 2008, with that <span onmouseout="_tipoff()" onmouseover="_tipon(this)" style="font-family: arial;"><span style="direction: ltr; text-align: left;" class="google-src-text"></span></span><span onmouseout="_tipoff()" onmouseover="_tipon(this)" style="font-family: arial;"><span style="direction: ltr; text-align: left;" class="google-src-text"></span></span><span onmouseout="_tipoff()" onmouseover="_tipon(this)" style="font-family: arial;"><span style="direction: ltr; text-align: left;" class="google-src-text">&euro;</span></span>399 pricetag for the 12GB version, but other capacities available (we saw an 8GB on display). No word yet on US pricing, but we're trying to pry it out of them.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-new-9-inch-eee-pc/">Hands-on with the new 9-inch Eee PC</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-new-9-inch-eee-pc/#673171"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-eee-900-hands-000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-new-9-inch-eee-pc/#673193"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-eee-900-hands-003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-new-9-inch-eee-pc/#673174"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-eee-900-hands-001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-new-9-inch-eee-pc/#673178"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-eee-900-hands-002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-new-9-inch-eee-pc/#673194"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-eee-900-hands-004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/03/hands-on-with-the-9-inch-eee-pc/">Hands-on with the 9-inch Eee PC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 03 Mar 2008 11:51:00 EST. You can't blame these guys for trying to milk the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/EeePC/">Eee PC</a>, and Asus is doing just that with its new smorgasbord of Eee PC accessories. Most interesting is the Ai Guru U1 VoIP phone. It plugs in with USB, and in addition to letting you make calls to all your broke-ass friends, you can also use it to browse and listen to music stored on the Eee PC. Next up is the Eee AP, which acts as a 802.11g wireless access point and little else -- think AirPort Express minus the sexy. The USB "3.5G HSDPA Card" is just as straightforward, with GSM900 / 1800 / 1900 and WCDMA2100 / 1900 / 850, and download speeds up to 3.6Mbps. The slim DVD-RW drive and the totally generic headsets aren't spicing things up either, which you can probably tell is par for the course here. There's no word on price or availability for any of these yet, but we're guessing none of them will break the bank -- they sure don't look it.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-shows-off-new-lineup-of-eee-pc-add-ons/">Asus shows off new lineup of Eee PC add-ons</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-shows-off-new-lineup-of-eee-pc-add-ons/#671888"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-misc000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-shows-off-new-lineup-of-eee-pc-add-ons/#671889"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-misc001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-shows-off-new-lineup-of-eee-pc-add-ons/#671893"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-misc002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-shows-off-new-lineup-of-eee-pc-add-ons/#671890"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-misc003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-shows-off-new-lineup-of-eee-pc-add-ons/#671891"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/03/asus-misc004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gadgets/" rel="tag">Misc.
