According to a Gemaga report (translation), Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram director Toru Murayama intimated at the CESA Developer's Conference that he's working on a new Xbox Live Arcade game. According to Murayama, Virtual On was popular, so he's decided to work on another XBLA project. Unfortunately, it seems Murayama didn't provide any further details on the subject. While we're positively giddy at the thought of a new Virtual On game for XBLA, let's all just take a deep breath and not get our hopes up. That said, it sure would be great to have an excuse to dust off our $300 paperweight. [Via andriasang.com]

Yesterday, along with companies including Sega, Square Enix, Capcom, and Game Freak, Nintendo earned awards at the CESA Development Conference in game design (for the Super Mario series) and sound (for the the Zelda series). Shigeru Miyamoto was awarded his own CEDEC Special Prize. Miyamoto was in attendance to give a keynote anyway, and so he happened to be on hand to give an impromptu acceptance speech."Well... Tomorrow I'm going to talk for about an hour," Miyamoto said, "so today I didn't think I'd have a speech." In his brief speech, Miyamoto described his hope for the game industry to continue to grow so that "the number of the children who want to enter the industry multiplies." Presumably children with well-trained brains.[Story and translation via Kotaku]

Next month's CESA Development Conference (CEDEC) in Tokyo will feature keynote presentations from Shigeru Miyamoto and Capcom producer (and Mega Man creator) Keiji Inafune. Miyamoto's talk, "From where should we create?" (or something like that), will look at the development process of Wii Music, the philosophy of game production and "universal design," and the small problems that come up every day.Inafune's talk has yet to be outlined, but he is producing the boldly retro-minded Mega Man 9. A keynote about the challenges of strictly limiting yourself technologically could be interesting. It'll probably end up being about the Lost Planet movie, though.[Via Develop]
