Everyone loves the chance to win free stuff. This week we have three pairs of custom-designed <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/23/sol-republic-intros-amps-and-tracks-headphone-lines-we-go-hands/">SOL Republic Tracks HD</a> headphones up for grabs, thanks to our friends over at <a href="http://www.colorware.com/p-290-sol-republic-tracks.aspx">ColorWare</a>! These guys are all about coming up with cool designs, as you can probably tell just by scoping out the units we're giving away (seen above), and they can add their touch to plenty more than just headphones: laptops, phones and gaming consoles are a few examples. So check out the rules below, and leave a comment to get entered!<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/13/engadget-giveaway/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Engadget Giveaway: win one of three SOL Republic Tracks headphones, courtesy of ColorWare!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/13/engadget-giveaway/">Engadget Giveaway: win one of three SOL Republic Tracks headphones, courtesy of ColorWare!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 13 Mar 2012 11:01:00 EST. You didn't think the latest iPhone would be saved from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/colorware/">Colorware's</a> paint-dipped hands, did you?<br />
	Lo and behold, the company's swatches are currently ready for application on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/14/iphone-4s-review/">4S</a>. Similar to its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/13/colorware-douses-iphone-4-in-double-rainbow-might-just-solve-yo/">iPhone 4</a> treatments, you'll be able to spice up your device -- and its earbuds -- with a mixture of glossy, metallic and soft-touch coatings (excluding mainly the front face, which remains stock black or white). Colorware'll <em>gladly </em>sell you a fresh 16 or 64GB model for a whopping $1,500 or $1,700, respectively, or you can mail yours in to get a Benetton-esque makeover for just $250.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/16/colorware-spills-its-inks-on-your-iphone-4s-charges-dearly-for/">Colorware spills its inks on your iPhone 4S, charges dearly for it</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 16 Oct 2011 05:17:00 EST. At $800, Leica's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/d-lux5">D-Lux 5</a> is one of the company's more affordable cameras, and it boasts the same trademark, understated style that you'd expect from some of its considerably pricier offerings. Colorware's new custom D-Lux 5, on the other hand, costs $1,200 (or $400 if you send your own camera in), and it can range from somewhat subtle in appearance to downright garish depending on your color choices. Of course, there is also a happy, stylish medium, but you'll have to decide for yourself if that's worth the $400 premium -- heck, that's almost enough to buy a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/25/colorware-hits-a-lurid-low-with-dyson-air-multiplier/">Colorware'd Dyson Air Multiplier</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/29/leica-d-lux-5-gets-the-deluxe-colorware-treatment/">Leica D-Lux 5 gets the deluxe Colorware treatment</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 29 Jul 2011 15:58:00 EST. Yup, it's here -- the moment all (eight) of you have been waiting for. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/AppleiPad2/">Apple iPad 2</a> finally hit the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ColorWare/">ColorWare</a> config tool, so you can play around with that palette and make something just as hideous as we have here. And, if you feel so inclined, you can even add the thing to your cart, hand over $910 (for the base 16GB WiFi config) and wait "about 4 weeks" for your creation to arrive in the mail. While you're at it, pick up a pair of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/20/beats-by-dr-dre-get-the-colorware-treatment-minus-the-color-v/">limited edition chrome Beats</a>. We're shocked to see that they're still in stock, given that modest $1,000 price tag.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/03/colorware-takes-the-green-from-your-wallet-and-puts-it-on-your-i/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>ColorWare takes the green from your wallet and puts it on your iPad 2 (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/03/colorware-takes-the-green-from-your-wallet-and-puts-it-on-your-i/">ColorWare takes the green from your wallet and puts it on your iPad 2 (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 03 May 2011 17:34:00 EST. Now, you'd think <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ColorWare/">ColorWare</a> would be working furiously to release some flashy <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/iPad2/">iPad 2</a>s, but that's not what we're getting today -- instead we now have a pair of Monster headphones to complement that <em>ever-so-necessary</em> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/25/colorware-hits-a-lurid-low-with-dyson-air-multiplier/">neon Dyson Air Multiplier</a> we assume you've already added to every room in your tastefully decorated mansion. These <em>very</em> limited edition ColorWare "Chrome Beats" headphones don't actually have any color, but they admittedly <em>do</em> look pretty slick, excepting the $1,000 price tag necessitated by this perfect storm of overpriced branding. ColorWare is only decking out 50 of these 'cans, so grab that platinum card and head over to our source link to get your pair.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/20/beats-by-dr-dre-get-the-colorware-treatment-minus-the-color-v/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Beats by Dr. Dre get the ColorWare treatment, minus the color (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/20/beats-by-dr-dre-get-the-colorware-treatment-minus-the-color-v/">Beats by Dr. Dre get the ColorWare treatment, minus the color (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 20 Apr 2011 19:38:00 EST. When it comes to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/colorware">ColorWare</a>, the surprise is never the choice of colors, it's the price you'll pay for exclusivity on a lime-green and suicide-orange paint job. This time its the already overpriced $300 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/12/dysons-air-multiplier-is-the-overpriced-bladeless-fan-you-never/">Dyson Air Multiplier</a> getting the $450 ColorWare treatment. For that absurd price you'll be treated to a brand new "bladeless fan" personalized with the airfoil, base, and control colors of your choosing from a healthy palette of gloss and sofTouch finishes. Of course, there's always the $150 option to send in your existing product for ColorWarezation, assuming you can go three weeks without habitually demonstrating the concepts of inducement and entrainment to baffled pets and family.<br type="_moz" /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/25/colorware-hits-a-lurid-low-with-dyson-air-multiplier/">ColorWare hits a lurid low with Dyson Air Multiplier</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 25 Jan 2011 07:11:00 EST. Not feeling like enough of an individual owning the same <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/26/macbook-air-review-late-2010/">ultrathin Apple laptop</a> as everyone else? We feel your pain, you need something <em>more</em> in your status symbol hardware. This is where Colorware enters, asking for (at least) $1,850 in exchange for a MacBook Air -- made in 2010, exactly to your chromatic specifications. Come on, we can mock and we can decry the price, but if this were ever within the disposable income portion of your budget, wouldn't you jump at the opportunity? Alas, there's no option for repainting an Air if you've already bought one, so whether you want the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/20/apple-introduces-11-6-inch-macbook-air/">11.6-inch</a> or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/20/macbook-air-13-inch-first-hands-on/">13-inch</a> version, you'll have to buy it directly from Colorware.<br />

Colorware's been making the products you buy look better (or worse, if you'd like) for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/all/colorware">years on end</a>, but up until now, it has never actually created a product from scratch. Enter the Grip for iPad, a simplistic new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/iPad/">iPad</a> holster that's less of a case and more of a handle. It's a metal frame that you bolt around the edges of your tablet, and as you can tell, it adds a major grabbing point to the side. But here's the rub: it's $300. Yeah, three Benjamins. We get that it's manufactured in Minnesota using that high-priced American labor, but seriously? The major problem is just how awkward that $300 price tag looks beside the $499 MSRP of the device it's supposed to hold; imagine buying a $13,000 set of tires for your $17,000 vehicle. It just doesn't sit well in the cranium. And then there's the problem of using it. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-grip-for-ipad-hands-on/">Colorware Grip for iPad hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-grip-for-ipad-hands-on/#3428153"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/10/colorware-grip-for-ipad2814_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-grip-for-ipad-hands-on/#3428152"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/10/colorware-grip-for-ipad2815_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-grip-for-ipad-hands-on/#3428150"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/10/colorware-grip-for-ipad2816_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-grip-for-ipad-hands-on/#3428149"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/10/colorware-grip-for-ipad2817_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-grip-for-ipad-hands-on/#3428147"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/10/colorware-grip-for-ipad2819_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />
<br />
You see, as nice as it is to have a handle on your tablet at all times, it makes actually <i>using</i> the iPad in portrait mode practically impossible. You're constantly trying to figure out how to work around that bulge that's now there on the left side. Furthermore, it does essentially nothing for protection. The back is still wide open and susceptible to drops / scratches, and the front isn't recessed in the least. Adding insult to multiple injuries, there's not enough room to have a case wrapped around your iPad while it's inside of the Grip. Oh, and did we mention that the slightest bump against a rough surface will rip the paint right off of the device? We'd love to love the Grip -- it's mighty pretty and it's built like a tank -- but it simply makes no sense whatsoever at $300. Even at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/16/aidacase-brings-keycase-folio-deluxe-ipad-case-to-to-the-us/">$100</a>, you've got way better <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/03/a-tale-of-two-ipad-cases-the-dodocase-and-m-edge-trip-jacket/">options</a> when it comes to actually protecting your iPad. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-grip-for-ipad-press-photos/">Colorware Grip for iPad press photos</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-grip-for-ipad-press-photos/#3428237"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/10/colorware-grip-for-ipad-press-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-grip-for-ipad-press-photos/#3428238"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/10/colorware-grip-for-ipad-press-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-grip-for-ipad-press-photos/#3428239"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/10/colorware-grip-for-ipad-press-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-grip-for-ipad-press-photos/#3428240"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/10/colorware-grip-for-ipad-press-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-grip-for-ipad-press-photos/#3428242"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/10/colorware-grip-for-ipad-press-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/01/colorware-ships-its-first-original-product-the-300-grip-for-ipad/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Colorware ships its first original product: the $300 Grip for iPad (hands-on)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/01/colorware-ships-its-first-original-product-the-300-grip-for-ipad/">Colorware ships its first original product: the $300 Grip for iPad (hands-on)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 01 Oct 2010 15:48:00 EST. So look -- RIM's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/04/blackberry-torch-review/">BlackBerry Torch 9800</a> isn't exactly the barnburner-of-a-smartphone that we were hoping it'd be, but at least it looks snazzy, right? <i>Right</i>? Regardless of your answer to that, it's a bona fide fact that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Colorware/">Colorware</a> has outdone itself on this one. Usually, it's most fun to toy around with the company's endless array of hues in order to create the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/11/kindle-2-gets-the-colorware-treatment-prepares-to-burn-some-ret/">most hideous version</a> of your favorite gadget before pretending to hit the order button, but for whatever reason, the first handset to ship with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/27/rim-shows-off-blackberry-6-on-video/">BlackBerry OS 6</a> actually looks dapper in red and white. Or maybe that's just the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nc+state">Wolfpack</a> in us <a href="http://www.engadget.com/editor/darren-murph">talking</a>. Either way, it's available to customize now in the source link for $250 (send your own) or $1,050 (buy new sans a contract). Video's after the break, should you need one.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/04/blackberry-torch-9800-gets-the-colorware-treatment-sees-value-i/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BlackBerry Torch 9800 gets the Colorware treatment, sees value increase infinitely</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/04/blackberry-torch-9800-gets-the-colorware-treatment-sees-value-i/">BlackBerry Torch 9800 gets the Colorware treatment, sees value increase infinitely</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 04 Sep 2010 21:16:00 EST. Look: if you want an all-red <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/MagicTrackpad/">Magic Trackpad</a>, we can't and won't judge you. We <em>can</em>, however, judge you for spending $145 for the privilege of getting it. Like clockwork, custom paint job guru ColorWare has just flipped the switch on Magic Trackpad orders, letting you choose separate colors (in flat, metallic, or pearlescent paint) for the case and the pad itself. If you've already got a unit handy, you can send it in for $75, meaning you'll save a full dollar over the "buy new" option. It'll go great with your baby blue iMac and orange / black <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/MagicMouse/">Magic Mouse</a>, won't it? Peep ColorWare's promo video after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/24/colorwares-magic-trackpad-magically-eliminates-145-magic-dollar/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>ColorWare's Magic Trackpad magically eliminates 145 magic dollars from your magic bank account</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/24/colorwares-magic-trackpad-magically-eliminates-145-magic-dollar/">ColorWare's Magic Trackpad magically eliminates 145 magic dollars from your magic bank account</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 24 Aug 2010 18:47:00 EST. Say, are you finding your 3G-equipped BlackBerry isn't looking quite so <em>Pearlescent</em> now that the Curve has <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/09/blackberry-curve-3g-9300-gets-official-is-blackberry-6-ready/">also gone 3G</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/03/rim-launches-blackberry-6-platform/">BlackBerry 6</a> seems to have moved things along (<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/04/blackberry-torch-review/">a bit</a>)? Maybe it's time you gave that zany bunch at Colorware a call, as they've just started taking orders for repainting Pearl 3G (aka 9100) handsets into whatever shade of awesome you desire. Prices are still ludicrous, starting out at $165 for a respray or $640 for a brand new phone, though if you want some more affordable customization, you can opt to send in your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/30/flip-video-ultra-hd-video-review/">Flip UltraHD</a> for a $50 change of hue (or grab a new one for $260). Sure, none of it makes much fiscal sense, but then blinging out your gear was never about rationality anyway.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/19/colorware-freshens-up-blackberry-pearl-3g-and-flip-ultrahd-with/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Colorware freshens up BlackBerry Pearl 3G and Flip UltraHD with bodacious new paintjobs</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/19/colorware-freshens-up-blackberry-pearl-3g-and-flip-ultrahd-with/">Colorware freshens up BlackBerry Pearl 3G and Flip UltraHD with bodacious new paintjobs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 19 Aug 2010 07:38:00 EST. It sure took 'em long enough, but <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Colorware/">Colorware</a> has finally added the Flip Ultra pocket camcorder to its assortment of wares available to be doused in a rainbow's worth of hues. It's a fitting addition, of course, and those who'd prefer the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/30/flip-video-ultra-hd-video-review/">HD version</a> will be treated in the near future. For now, it'll cost you a Ulysses S. Grant (or more) to colorize your existing Flip Ultra, or $210+ to snag a minty fresh unit direct from Colorware. Best of all, you'll be able to paint the top, ring, bottom, back, cursor and button a different shade if you've got the cash, so hit that source link (or hop on past the break) if you're imagination is already whirring. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-flip-ultra-camcorder/">Colorware Flip Ultra camcorder</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-flip-ultra-camcorder/#3244192"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/08/colorware-flip-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-flip-ultra-camcorder/#3244193"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/08/colorware-flip-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/09/colorware-finally-points-the-rainbow-gun-at-flip-ultra-ultrahd/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Colorware finally points the rainbow gun at Flip Ultra, UltraHD up next</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/09/colorware-finally-points-the-rainbow-gun-at-flip-ultra-ultrahd/">Colorware finally points the rainbow gun at Flip Ultra, UltraHD up next</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 09 Aug 2010 03:29:00 EST. You didn't seriously think the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/18/mac-mini-mid-2010-review/">Mac Mini</a> would be <a href="http://www.engadget.com/all/colorware">spared</a>, did you? The maniacal customizers over at Colorware have added Apple's latest bit of desktop furniture to their stable of "have it your way" electronics, with a $250 price tag for the paintjob by itself and a $1,000 levy if you want them to procure the hardware as well. Hey, we know that's expensive, but somebody's got to be buying all these <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/09/ipad-gets-colorwared-your-retinas-and-savings-may-never-recove/">crazy-hued gadgets</a> for the company to keep going, right? Anyone willing to own up to it?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/26/mac-mini-suffers-chromatic-maltreatment-at-hands-of-colorware/">Mac Mini suffers chromatic maltreatment at hands of Colorware</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 26 Jul 2010 03:21:00 EST. Given just how much that white <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/iPhone4/">iPhone 4</a> bumper is about to cost you on eBay, it seems as if a Colorware'd alternative has never been a better bargain. The master of gadget coloration is back once more, this time promising to dress Apple's latest <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/13/yes-the-iphone-4-is-broken-no-the-iphone-4-is-not-broken/">problem child</a> up with just about any combination of hues that you choose. Consumers can splash paint on the frame, back, button, SIM card tray and earbuds, with the minimum price set at $250 for a sent-in device. There's no guarantee that a coat of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Colorware/">Colorware</a> will serve to remedy those awfully annoying <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/30/iphone-4s-antenna-problem-looks-worse-than-it-is-but-its-stil/">reception issues</a>, but at least you can pocket a beautiful reminder of just how happy a pair of colorful bands can make the average vacationer. And that, friends, is priceless. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-paints-apple-iphone-4/">Colorware paints Apple iPhone 4</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-paints-apple-iphone-4/#3170172"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/colorware-iphone-42_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-paints-apple-iphone-4/#3170173"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/colorware-iphone-41_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/13/colorware-douses-iphone-4-in-double-rainbow-might-just-solve-yo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Colorware douses iPhone 4 in double rainbow, might just solve your reception issues</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/13/colorware-douses-iphone-4-in-double-rainbow-might-just-solve-yo/">Colorware douses iPhone 4 in double rainbow, might just solve your reception issues</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 13 Jul 2010 19:19:00 EST. No need for a fanciful <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/17/colorware-slings-paint-onto-next-logical-object-your-hdtv/">new HDTV</a>? Not even a new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/23/segway-i2-suffers-ultimate-indignity-at-the-hands-of-colorware/">Segway</a>? There's some colorful home entertainment gear for you yet. The <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/colorware">famed gadget painting company</a> just announced that Microsoft's shiny <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/02/new-xbox-360-slim-250gb-review/">new Xbox 360</a> is the next to go under the gun, with near limitless color options waiting to be splashed onto each and every panel. If you managed to already pick one up, Colorware's charging $175 for the send-in option; if you're looking to buy new, that'll cost you at least five Benjamins. But hey, that's nothing for the satisfaction of owning a game console that's part orange, part lime green and part purple, right?<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-new-xbox-360-console/">Colorware new Xbox 360 console</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-new-xbox-360-console/#3140673"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/colorware-xbox-360-blue_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-new-xbox-360-console/#3140676"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/colorware-xbox-360-red-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/colorware-new-xbox-360-console/#3140677"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/colorware-xbox-360-red_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/02/colorware-jazzes-up-your-new-xbox-360/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Colorware jazzes up your new Xbox 360</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/02/colorware-jazzes-up-your-new-xbox-360/">Colorware jazzes up your new Xbox 360</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 02 Jul 2010 17:49:00 EST. How does a niche repainting outfit like <a href="http://www.engadget.com/all/colorware">Colorware</a> grow? By literally growing the size of things it deals with, apparently. As of today, Colorware will adjust the hues of your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/02/segway-i2-now-available-in-metallic-sage-still-not-inviting/">Segway i2</a> any which way you like for an entirely unaffordable $1,500. If you didn't have the foresight to buy one of these personal transporters before, you can have a brand new one, replete with your personalized paintjob, for $7,500. And good news for non-Americans: the latter option is available internationally too! See this beautiful freak moving and grooving in scarlet red just after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/23/segway-i2-suffers-ultimate-indignity-at-the-hands-of-colorware/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Segway i2 suffers ultimate indignity at the hands of Colorware (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/23/segway-i2-suffers-ultimate-indignity-at-the-hands-of-colorware/">Segway i2 suffers ultimate indignity at the hands of Colorware (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 23 Jun 2010 10:04:00 EST. Bet you never thought people would line up to pay absurd amounts of money to have their otherwise vanilla gizmos coated in some of the swankest paints known to man. Turns out, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Colorware/">Colorware</a> has made a living from doing just that for those with vivid imaginations, and the company is finally breaking away from handheld gadgets and heading straight for your den. Starting this week, fat-walleted consumers can ping the company with a custom television request, namely the TV model and desired hue. The outfit's not publishing any sample prices due to the sheer quantity of available HDTVs out there, and sadly, the "send in" option ain't available here -- you buy new or paint yourself, bub. Anyone care to take a poke as to what that fire-engine red masterpiece up above would cost? Nah, we thought not.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/17/colorware-slings-paint-onto-next-logical-object-your-hdtv/">Colorware slings paint onto next logical object: your HDTV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 17 Jun 2010 08:33:00 EST. You thought $500 to start for a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ipad">silly tablet</a> was bad? How about another $410 to get the thing in some other color than raw aluminum? Yes indeed, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/colorware">ColorWare</a> is at it again, this time dunking the back of iPads into giant vats of Technicolor dreams -- or nightmares, depending on what combination of hues you choose. You can make your own design, with separate colors for the back, logo, and home button, but there's no escaping that $410 service charge -- or you can pay $910 for a new, painted 16GB model. The 64GB model is a whopping $1110, but the inspirational promo video after the break is entirely free.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/09/ipad-gets-colorwared-your-retinas-and-savings-may-never-recove/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>iPad gets ColorWare'd, your retinas and savings may never recover (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/09/ipad-gets-colorwared-your-retinas-and-savings-may-never-recove/">iPad gets ColorWare'd, your retinas and savings may never recover (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 09 Apr 2010 09:19:00 EST. Colorware's out to conquer the whole gadget world, it seems, as it has now added Google's first own-brand phone to its roster. Joining such hero devices as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/26/nook-becomes-colorwares-latest-victim/">Nook</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/23/colorware-outs-custom-colors-for-the-apple-iphone-3gs/">iPhone 3GS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/27/colorware-spices-up-wii-ps3-and-xbox-360-in-custom-colors/">every modern console</a> and even the occasional <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/17/colorware-adds-thinkpad-t60p-to-laptop-rainbow/">ThinkPad</a>, the Nexus One will take three weeks to undergo its makeover, at a cost of $175 if you're supplying your own or $800 for a brand new one. Whether the results end up priceless or worthless will be entirely up to you, however, so feel free to practice on their design site a bit before pulling the trigger.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/27/nexus-one-succumbs-to-colorwares-charms/">Nexus One succumbs to Colorware's charms</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 27 Jan 2010 09:53:00 EST. Look, we know we give <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/colorware/">Colorware</a> a hard time -- mostly because it regularly spits out miscast creations like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/11/kindle-2-gets-the-colorware-treatment-prepares-to-burn-some-ret/">abominable Kindle</a> or the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/03/colorware-gets-its-paint-guns-on-nintendos-dsi-does-unthinkabl/">unlovable DSi</a> -- but in the case of the Nook we're a lot more ambivalent. Sure, on the one hand you can concoct clashing color schemes like the one above that only someone from Portugal can truly appreciate, but if you slide past the break you'll find tasteful color combos are possible as well. Perhaps it's the Nook's simple logo on the back and straight-line color separation, but this is one instance where we might actually be willing to shell out the $125 asking price for a fresh paintjob. Hit the source link to try your hand at designing a prettier Nook yourself.<br />

Nothing says "I do not accept the normal social conventions of a business-oriented mobile device; I do, however, accept its software and lovely keyboard" quite like sending your BlackBerry in for a retina-burning <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ColorWare/">ColorWare</a> job. It's been done before, it's being done now, and it'll be done until pigs rule the sky -- and if you're craving the latest and greatest way to shock your colleagues when you reach into your double-breasted suit coat's inside pocket, look no further than the recolored <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Bold9700/">Bold 9700</a>. There are fully six different components that can be independently colored to your liking, and we hear that Mike Lazaridis loses 60 seconds of sleep every time one of 'em gets painted something other than black, so get to it -- it'll run you $159 plus the cost of the phone itself.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/01/like-clockwork-blackberry-bold-9700-gets-colorwared/">Like clockwork, BlackBerry Bold 9700 gets ColorWared</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 01 Dec 2009 07:23:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Colorware/">Colorware</a>'s well known for offering up all sorts of consumer electronics in all sorts of hues, but the outfit has definitely stepped up its game with the Stealth <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/MacBookPro/">MacBook Pro</a>. This limited edition piece is an all-black 15-inch MacBook Pro with a matte display, 3.06GHz CPU, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, 256GB SSD, an 8x SuperDrive, zero gloss finish and a SofTouch coating that'll make it downright impossible for your fingers to stop stroking it. Reportedly, these will be limited to just ten units, and each one will cost a not-at-all affordable $5,999. See Apple, this is what you get when you voluntarily axe the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/04/apple-bumps-macbooks-including-macbook-ultimate/">BlackBook</a>. If you're anything at all like us, you were just a tad disappointed by the color "options" of Apple's newest foray into the world of mobile phones, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/iPhone3GS/">iPhone 3GS</a>. After all, who wants to be limited to just black and white these days? Not us, that's for sure -- and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ColorWare/">ColorWare's</a> just announced a fix for all that. Pricing for these customs jobs runs $150 for the back of the handset, $20 a piece for the bezel frame and button, and $15 the SIM holder. They'll also do up your earbuds for an additional $15. A small price to pay for beauty, no? Another shot of a different color combo after the break.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.slashgear.com/colorware-iphone-3gs-custom-colors-arrive-2347735/">SlashGear</a>]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/23/colorware-outs-custom-colors-for-the-apple-iphone-3gs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>ColorWare outs custom colors for the Apple iPhone 3GS</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/apple/" rel="tag">Apple</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/accessories/" rel="tag">Accessories</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/23/colorware-outs-custom-colors-for-the-apple-iphone-3gs/">ColorWare outs custom colors for the Apple iPhone 3GS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 23 Jun 2009 13:51:00 EST. <div align="left">We know that the only reason you're holding out on buying a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Kindle2/">Kindle 2</a> is your aversion to that sterile plastic shell. Well, you're in luck, aesthete... 'cos the folks at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Colorware/">Colorware</a> will happily sell you a model that lives out loud for a song (and $599, baseline). Or you can send in your own e-reader, in which case a cool $199 will get you the paint job you deserve. It will be 2-3 weeks before you get your device back in your hot hands, but when you do you'll be ready to read <em>The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby</em> in pop art style. Hit that read link to get started.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.slashgear.com/kindle-2-gets-a-colorware-makeover-1143401/">Slash Gear</a>]</div>

<div align="left">As you probably learned in grammar school, there's a time in every gadget's life when it gets the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ColorWare/">Colorware</a> treatment -- and for the G1 and the Bold, the time is now. It'll run you $150 to dress up your current T-Mobile handset, or the company will ship you a brand new one $725. Prices for the BlackBerry Bold run $139 and $674 for the makeover and the whole phone, respectively. Sure, that's a pretty pile of change, but if you'd spent your formative years in the East Coast rave scene you'd know just how coveted and stylish a pink, blue and orange G1 really is. If the BlackBerry is more your speed, make sure you check out that sexy number after the break.<br /><br />[Thanks, Ken]</div>

<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Colorware/">Colorware</a> is at it again -- <strike>stealing</strike> taking money from folks who just <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/05/the-iphone-3g-now-in-whatever-you-want/">can't be satisfied</a> with the stock color option(s). RIM's BlackBerry Bold is the next major handset to get the colorific treatment, with a fully customized unit running just $174 over the handset's base price. We'd typically encourage any and all of you to order up the above pictured combination in support of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ncstate/">Wolfpack</a>, but given the recent performance on the field, feel free to just back your own alma mater.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/09/01/colorware-does-blackberry-bold-ours-is-on-the-way/">The Boy Genius Report</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/rim/" rel="tag">RIM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/02/colorware-expectedly-busts-out-the-paint-buckets-for-rims-black/">Colorware expectedly busts out the paint buckets for RIM's BlackBerry Bold</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 02 Sep 2008 15:25:00 EST. If you thought a Colorware'd <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/18/colorware-provides-that-ds-lite-hue-nintendo-never-appreciated/">DS Lite</a> was the new heat, get a load of this. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Colorware/">company</a> famous for making gadgetry of all kinds look its best has turned its talents on the iconic Guitar Hero axe, and we must say, we're infatuated. Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 thrashers are all invited, and while users can join the revolution for as little as $198 (that includes the title and a painted instrument), current slingers can send their guitar in and get it colorized for as little as $99. For those on a budget, we strongly recommend <em>not</em> clicking the links below. Those completely unafraid of purging their wallet on impulse buys can go ahead.<br /><br />[Thanks, Adam]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.colorwarepc.com/p-156-guitar-hero-xbox360.aspx">Read</a> - Colorware's Xbox 360 guitar<br /><a href="http://www.colorwarepc.com/p-155-guitar-hero-ps3.aspx">Read</a> - Colorware's PlayStation 3 guitar<br /><a href="http://www.colorwarepc.com/p-154-guitar-hero-wii.aspx">Read</a> - Colorware's Wii guitar<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/01/colorware-gets-ahold-of-guitar-hero-axes-were-in-love/">Colorware gets ahold of Guitar Hero axes -- we're in love</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 01 Apr 2008 02:42:00 EST. Look, who could blame you for wanting to personalize your PSP a little. At the moment you can wait around for limited edition models like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/26/sony-announces-499-metal-gear-solid-ps3-bundle-god-of-war-psp/">God of War</a> or get your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/04/sony-introduces-a-pantyhose-colored-psp-leggs-ellent/">kitchen-beige</a> or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/29/mint-green-psp-now-available-in-japan/">month-old-mint</a> models from a friendly, price-gouging, Japanese importer. Else, why not hold out until April 14th when ColorWare plans to unveil its new PSP colorization service. Although nothing has been announced, it's probably safe to assume the same level of "buy new" or "send in" service ColorWare already <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/18/colorware-provides-that-ds-lite-hue-nintendo-never-appreciated/">offers for the DS Lite</a>.<br /><br />[Thanks, Andreu]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/25/colorware-taking-on-psp-april-14th/">PSP to get ColorWared on April 14th</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 25 Mar 2008 05:30:00 EST. Quite frankly, we're a bit shocked it took this long for the paint gun-wielding gurus over at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Colorware/">Colorware</a> to start fancying up Nintendo's famed DS Lite, but just in case The Big N has yet to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/24/nintendo-launches-onyx-and-coral-pink-ds-lites/">unveil</a> a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/10/limited-edition-pikachu-ds-lite-system-to-hit-japan/">hue</a> that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/24/crimson-black-ds-lite-for-sale-in-america/">floats</a> your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/28/nintendos-ds-lite-gets-pretty-in-pink/">boat</a>, look no further. As with most everything else it sells, you can send in your current unit in order to receive it back in a whole new outfit, but those who've yet to jump on board the bandwagon can acquire their very first DS Lite already modified. Best of all, Colorware lets you paint up the main frame, button pad, front port, bottom, L / R buttons and even the stylus separately (for a cost, of course), so those looking to relive the 70s can toss together some seriously groovy combinations. Go on, hit up the read link and exercise that artistic muscle.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://crave.cnet.com/8301-1_105-9896900-1.html?part=rss&amp;tag=feed&amp;subj=Crave">CNET</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/18/colorware-provides-that-ds-lite-hue-nintendo-never-appreciated/">Colorware provides that DS Lite hue Nintendo never appreciated</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 18 Mar 2008 19:22:00 EST. It was absolutely inevitable, and now it's arrived: you can get a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/MacBookAir/">MacBook Air</a> in any color you choose thanks to those paint huffers over at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Colorware/">Colorware</a>. The big draw here is probably going to be the all black version -- for rugby fans and those PowerBook 2400c users out there that never stopped believing -- but not only do you have 34 other color options, you can also customize the laptop part by part with whatever combination of colors you choose. The bad news is that the base cost is $500, plus $50 per customization, so you're going to have to take a long hard look at you child's college fund.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/18/colorware-attacks-macbook-air-with-crayons-comes-out-with-35-fl/">Colorware attacks MacBook Air with crayons, comes out with 35 flavors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 18 Feb 2008 12:03:00 EST. <div align="left">Not that it comes as much of a surprise (or any, really), but <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=colorware">ColorWare</a> has now brought all of Apple's latest offerings under its brightly-colored fold, with the new iMac, iPod touch, iPod nano, and iPod classic each available in "nearly 30 different colors." That, of course, means 29 colors, including such eye-catching options as blush pink, caution yellow, candy apple red, and crush orange, all of which can also be mixed and matched if you choose. As with ColorWare's other offerings, you can either purchase your colorized product of choice directly from ColorWare (for a premium price, of course) or send in your existing gear for a bit of sprucing up, which also doesn't exactly come cheap.</div>

Walk into an Apple or AT&amp;T store, walk out with an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/09/the-apple-iphone/">iPhone</a> in whatever color you like: that is, if you like black, silver, and chrome. Which is why, as usual, we're stoked that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Colorware/">Colorware</a>'s on the case (literally), offering up another 29 shades for your Apple phone. The price: $150 if you send yours in, or $650 / $750 if you buy a 4GB / 8GB new from them.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/misc/" rel="tag">Misc</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/apple/" rel="tag">Apple</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/19/iphone-gets-29-new-shades-from-colorware/">iPhone gets 29 new shades from Colorware</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 19 Jul 2007 18:17:00 EST. Well c'mon in, the fine proprietors of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Colorware/">Colorware</a> are now processing new colors for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/14/microsoft-launches-the-zune/">Zune</a>s, and will redo-ify your current player for $74, or send you a new one all done up for $325. (Note: new Zunes cost under $200 at some online retailers, so if you're thinking over a new device we suggest you buy one yourself, send it in, and save the extra dough.) Now you'll double the surprise when showing off your portable to your more uninformed friends: "Microsoft makes an MP3 player? And it comes in fuchsia??"<br /><br />[Thanks, Joel]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/18/custom-zune-colors-arrive/">Custom Zune colors arrive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 18 May 2007 04:17:00 EST.
