Still, if you're in the market to pick up one of these 5-inch quad-core beauties, it's worth noting the subtle physical and technical differences between them. At HTC's Frequencies event this week, we had the rare chance to get all four (yes, <em>four!</em>) models side by side, so read on for our detailed comparison.</p><p> <span><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-droid-dna-vs-j-butterfly-vs-butterfly-for-south-east-asia-and-china-fight/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">HTC Droid DNA vs. J Butterfly vs. Butterfly for South East Asia and China: fight!</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-droid-dna-vs-j-butterfly-vs-butterfly-for-south-east-asia-and-china-fight/5625171?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/droid-dna-butterfly-2013-02-07-0_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-droid-dna-vs-j-butterfly-vs-butterfly-for-south-east-asia-and-china-fight/5625173?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/droid-dna-butterfly-2013-02-07-000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-droid-dna-vs-j-butterfly-vs-butterfly-for-south-east-asia-and-china-fight/5625174?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/droid-dna-butterfly-2013-02-07-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-droid-dna-vs-j-butterfly-vs-butterfly-for-south-east-asia-and-china-fight/5625175?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/droid-dna-butterfly-2013-02-07-001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-droid-dna-vs-j-butterfly-vs-butterfly-for-south-east-asia-and-china-fight/5625176?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/droid-dna-butterfly-2013-02-07-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></span></p><p> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-j-butterfly-vs-htc-droid-dna/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">White HTC J Butterfly vs. Droid DNA</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-j-butterfly-vs-htc-droid-dna/5624464?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/htcjbutterflyhandson01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-j-butterfly-vs-htc-droid-dna/5624465?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/htcjbutterflyhandson02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-j-butterfly-vs-htc-droid-dna/5624466?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/htcjbutterflyhandson03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-j-butterfly-vs-htc-droid-dna/5624475?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/htcjbutterflyhandson12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-j-butterfly-vs-htc-droid-dna/5624476?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/htcjbutterflyhandson13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p>

<p class="image-container" style="text-align: center;"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/12/12/oppo-find-5-xiaomi-phone-2-meizu-mx2/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img alt="Oppo Find 5, Xiaomi Phone 2 and Meizu MX2 " data-src-height="413" data-src-width="620" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/12/oppo-find-5-vs.jpg" /></a></p><p> With all three major Chinese phone makers now showing their quad-core cards, it's only natural for us to take a friendly portrait of their latest flagships: from left to right we have the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/meizumx2?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Meizu MX2</a> (due December 19th), the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/xiaomiphone2?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Xiaomi Phone 2</a> (already out) and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/12/12/oppo-find-5-launch/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">freshly announced</a> Oppo <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/find5?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Find 5</a> (due January). At 8.86mm thick, the Find 5 is subtly slimmer than our two other 10.2mm-thick phones when compared visually, but the five-inch 1080p screen is clearly a winner in terms of size and pixel density -- the latter is made more obvious by the fine details on the tactfully designed icons; just too bad you won't be able to fit much 1080p video content into the 16GB built-in storage. As for aesthetics, we're currently leaning towards the Find 5 for its less obvious bezel around the glass panel, and the phone's shape is also a nice change from the usual rectangle-with-evenly-rounded-corners form factor. Still, the feel and contour of the Meizu MX2's crystal back cover gave the most comfortable grip out of the three, only to be hampered by the Flyme OS' eccentric UX. Obviously, we shall do a more detailed comparison once we have our review unit, so stay tuned.</p><p> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/inevitable-oppo-find-5-meets-xiaomi-phone-2-and-meizu-mx2/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Inevitable: Oppo Find 5 meets Xiaomi Phone 2 and Meizu MX2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/inevitable-oppo-find-5-meets-xiaomi-phone-2-and-meizu-mx2/5495125?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/12/oppo-find-5-trio-2012-12-12-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/inevitable-oppo-find-5-meets-xiaomi-phone-2-and-meizu-mx2/5495136?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/12/oppo-find-5-trio-2012-12-12-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/inevitable-oppo-find-5-meets-xiaomi-phone-2-and-meizu-mx2/5495131?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/12/oppo-find-5-trio-2012-12-12-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/inevitable-oppo-find-5-meets-xiaomi-phone-2-and-meizu-mx2/5495134?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/12/oppo-find-5-trio-2012-12-12-9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/inevitable-oppo-find-5-meets-xiaomi-phone-2-and-meizu-mx2/5495129?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/12/oppo-find-5-trio-2012-12-12-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p>

Photog Austin Mann and a few of his closest pals took a pair of iPhone 5s to Iceland following launch weekend in a bid to test the unit's durability, capability and image quality next to the 4S. After two days of geyser spray and admitted "drops in mud," the uncovered 5 seemed to be a-okay, and when it comes to output from the sensor, that's worthy of praise as well.</p><p> The low-light capabilities of the 5 are perhaps the most impressive upgrade compared to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/14/iphone-4s-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">4S</a>, with much less noise seen in shots from the former. He also gushed over the panorama mode, which admittedly churned out some pretty seamless results of the Icelandic countryside. As for shutter speed? That too has been "significantly" improved over the 4S. He interestingly noted that Snapseed was acting a bit wonky with iOS 6, but one has to wonder how much smoothing will be done by the Nik team now that Google's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/21/vic-gundotra-says-niks-high-end-tools-will-survive/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">calling the shots</a>. Hit the source link below for the full rundown, comparisons included, and a video that shows how the iPhone 5 reacts after sunset. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/iphone-5-shooting-landscapes-in-iceland/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">iPhone 5 shooting landscapes in Iceland</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/iphone-5-shooting-landscapes-in-iceland/5310370?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/09/austinmanniceland07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/iphone-5-shooting-landscapes-in-iceland/5310371?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/09/austinmanniceland03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/iphone-5-shooting-landscapes-in-iceland/5310372?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/09/austinmanniceland04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/iphone-5-shooting-landscapes-in-iceland/5310373?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/09/austinmanniceland05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/iphone-5-shooting-landscapes-in-iceland/5310374?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/09/austinmanniceland06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p>

Whether or not NVIDIA's new chipsets are worth the glance is another matter, and early reviews suggest that a sale depends on just which market you're in. The GTX 660, by far the darling of the review crowd, competes solidly against the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/05/amd-radeon-hd-7870-and-7850-review-roundup/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Radeon HD 7850</a> by outrunning AMD's hardware in most situations while undercutting on the official price. Only a few have taken a look at the lower-end GTX 650, but it's not as much of a clear-cut purchasing decision -- the entry-level video often slots in between the performance of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/04/amd-radeon-hd-7750-900Mhz/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Radeon HD 7750 and 7770</a> without the price edge of its bigger brother. Either card is much better value for the money than the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/20/nvidia-geforce-gt-640-review-roundup/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">GT 640</a>, however, and looks to be a meaningful upgrade if you're trading up from equivalent prior-generation gear.</p><p> Read - <a href="http://www.anandtech.com/show/6276/nvidia-geforce-gtx-660-review-gk106-rounds-out-the-kepler-family"><em>AnandTech</em> (GTX 660)</a><br /> Read - <a href="http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=992&amp;Itemid=72"><em>Benchmark Reviews</em> (GTX 660)</a><br /> Read - <a href="http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2012/09/13/nvidia-geforce-gtx-660-2gb-review/1?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+bit-tech%2Farticles+%28bit-tech.net+Article+Feed%29"><em>Bit-Tech</em> (GTX 660)</a><br /> Read - <a href="http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-650-msi-power-edition-review/1"><em>Guru 3D</em> (GTX 650)</a><br /> Read - <a href="http://hardocp.com/article/2012/09/13/asus_geforce_gtx_660_directcu_ii_video_card_review/1"><em>HardOCP</em> (GTX 660)</a><br /> Read - <a href="http://hothardware.com/Reviews/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-660-RoundUp-MSI-ZOTAC-Gigabyte/?page=1"><em>Hot Hardware</em> (GTX 660)</a><br /> Read - <a href="http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2409640,00.asp?kc=PCRSS02129TX1K0000530&amp;utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ziffdavis%2Fpcmag+%28PCMag.com%3A+New+Product+Reviews%29"><em>PC Mag</em> (GTX 660)</a><br /> Read - <a href="http://pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-660-2GB-Review-Kepler-GK106-229"><em>PC Perspective</em> (GTX 660)</a><br /> Read - <a href="http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-660-geforce-gtx-650-benchmark,3297.html"><em>Tom's Hardware</em> (GTX 650 and 660)</a></p>

Perhaps even more difficult to believe is that it's <em>still</em> in our lexicon, but it doesn't look like the term is going anywhere anytime soon. Today, Samsung introduced the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/29/samsung-galaxy-note-ii-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Galaxy Note II</a>, a followup to the company's S-Pen equipped sleeper hit introduced at last year's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/ifa?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">IFA</a>. But what does the sequel have that the original doesn't? The concept is simple: bundle talk, text and data together in the same family plan, instead of forcing each individual member to pay a separate fee if they want internet access. With the announcement of these plans, we were instantly curious to find out if these new options will save customers money on a monthly basis -- and which company offers the best value. Determined to get some answers, we've broken down AT&amp;T and Verizon's plans and will highlight the pros and cons for you after the break.</p>

<p style="text-align: center; "> <img alt="New MacBook Pros vs. MacBook Pros (late 2011): what's changed?" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/06/next-gen-macbook-pro-1339437389.jpg" /></p><p> Since the epic rise of the MacBook Air, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/MacbookPro/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">MacBook Pro</a> has become something of a dark horse in the Apple notebook family. Sure, it may not be Cupertino's thinnest, sexiest product, but it has the heavy-duty internals to handle intense graphics for artists and gamers alike. Apple just announced its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/11/stub-apple-unveils-new-macbook-pro-with-ivy-bridge-at-wwdc/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">updated 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pros</a> -- not to mention a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/11/apple-announces-next-generation-macbook-pro/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">new 15-inch model</a> with a brilliant Retina display, and these new machines boast some pretty impressive upgrades. There's no shortage of spec changes to keep track of, so check out our comparison charts below to see what the new models bring to the table (hint: highlights include USB 3.0, Ivy Bridge and a thinner design for the new Retina model).</p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="4" style="width: 608px; Simply upload a pair of pictures of yourself in different hair, makeup and clothing choices and let the denizens of the internet vote on which one makes you look the best. Sounding similar to <em><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/04/scientists-devise-software-that-can-interpret-attractiveness/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">HotorNot</a></em> and <em>FaceMash</em>, this patent purports to shift the emphasis to help the style-challenged choose a suitable wardrobe. We just hope the company built in some snark-protection -- or else we might see plenty of ingenues with ruined self esteem arrive at the opera in a dinosaur costume.</p>

But which phones ought to be considered flagships worthy of comparison with the shiny new GS III? Yes, we're including the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/03/nokia-lumia-900-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Lumia 900</a> in this context, for the sake of platform neutrality and also in recognition of the fact that raw specs don't count for everything -- but we can't overlook that this handset is sorely lacking in terms of ppi and some other areas. The next two choices are more obvious: the eternal (or infernal) <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/14/iphone-4s-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">iPhone 4S</a> and AT&amp;T's version of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/01/htc-one-x-for-att-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">HTC One X</a>. So here it is: one table to rule them all, right after the break.</p>

<p style="text-align: center;"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/galaxy-s-iii-microscope-hd-super-amoled/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img alt="Image" height="400" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-microscope-one-x.jpg" style="margin:4px" width="600" /></a></p><p> By now you should already know that the brand-spanking-new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/galaxy+s+iii?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Samsung Galaxy S III</a> sports a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display. That's right: no "plus" here, which means this 720p panel is featuring the same old PenTile RBGB pixel arrangement -- just like the 4.65-inch version on the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy S II HD LTE. Needless to say, this is again <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/13/lg-renames-optimus-lte-to-optimus-true-hd-lte-disses-samsungs/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">pure ammunition</a> for the folks over at LG; but as we've mentioned before, HD Super AMOLED's superb contrast and higher-than-before pixel density outweigh its shortcomings in most cases.</p><p> For now though, let's examine these sub-pixels with a 230x zoom USB microscope and compare them with other phones that we have in hand. Starting off with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/one+x?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">HTC One X's</a> 720p SLCD 2 above, you can see how its denser sub-pixels produce a finer picture, but ultimately it's still behind HD Super AMOLED when it comes to contrast, especially with black. Read on for more comparisons.</p><p> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/under-the-microscope-samsung-galaxy-s-iiis-hd-super-amoled-display/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Under the microscope: Samsung Galaxy S III's HD Super AMOLED display</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/under-the-microscope-samsung-galaxy-s-iiis-hd-super-amoled-display/4999846?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-230x-g_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/under-the-microscope-samsung-galaxy-s-iiis-hd-super-amoled-display/4999845?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-230x-all-g_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p>

Now that Google has finally announced its cloud service, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/24/google-drive-official-cloud-storage-details-docs/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Google Drive</a>, we're sure more than a few of you are crunching the numbers in your head in an attempt to figure which is the best deal. Far be it for us to tell you which service to use when we've barely had a chance to poke around Drive, but for now, better if we lay out those gigabytes and dollars in number form, rather than squeeze them into a crowded paragraph, don'tcha think? Follow past the break for a brief breakdown of what you'll get from Google, along with Dropbox, Microsoft SkyDrive and iCloud.</p>

In it, his character traveled to parallel universes and grew stronger as he killed alternate versions of himself. This continued on until there was only one other copy left, with the movie culminating in an epic battle between the two. We won't spoil the ending, but we were reminded of this movie when thinking about the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/02/htc-one-x-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">One X</a> and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/02/htc-one-s-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">One S</a>: both are incredibly powerful phones that we'd be proud to use as our daily drivers, but the vast majority of us are only able to choose one One. (The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/26/htc-one-v-we-go-hands-on-video/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">One V</a> is also a possible option but for the purposes of this feature we're laser-focused on HTC's two higher-end models.)<br /><br />How can we make a sound decision? The two phones are considered premium devices with top-notch components and relatively few flaws. The major difference, however, is going to be the price. Naturally, the cost will vary depending on where you live and which carrier you choose, but make no mistake: the S is going to be less expensive. Is it worth spending the extra money to go with the top-shelf model, or will the little guy be plenty? Now that the two devices are officially on sale in Europe, it's time to pick a side. We can't decide for you, but our goal is to present each phone's pros and cons, going round by round. Which one is right for you? Read on to find out.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-one-x-vs-one-s-fight/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">HTC One X vs. One S... fight!</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-one-x-vs-one-s-fight/4932211?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/htconexvsones01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-one-x-vs-one-s-fight/4932212?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/htconexvsones02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-one-x-vs-one-s-fight/4932213?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/htconexvsones03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-one-x-vs-one-s-fight/4932214?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/htconexvsones04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-one-x-vs-one-s-fight/4932215?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/htconexvsones05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div>

Yes, we agree that Google's phones are getting hotter with each generation, but that's not the answer we're looking for. Here's a hint: if you examine the above image really closely, you <em>might</em> also discover a progression toward larger handsets. In all seriousness, the above comparison was generated by <em>phone-size.com</em>, a website that's quite useful to study the relative proportions of different smartphones. But wait, it gets even better. At the top of the webpage, you'll also find a toolbar to plug in the size and aspect ratio of your display. Once you jump through this minor hoop, the utility produces accurate, life-size depictions of the smartphones -- go ahead and hold your slab up to the screen, it really works. Before you dive in, however, be sure to hop the break: we've put together an entertaining look at the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/05/sony-ericsson-xperia-mini-and-mini-pro-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Xperia Mini</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/17/htc-titan-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Titan</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/22/dell-streak-android-2-2-froyo-update-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Streak 5</a> that you won't want to miss.

	What better way to welcome a new boy in town than just a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/08/meizu-mx-first-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">quick hands-on</a> with it? Well, how about throwing a mini phone party for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/meizu%2Cmx?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Meizu MX</a>? We just so happened to have a stash of phones with us today: the M9, iPhone 4S, Nokia N9, Xiaomi Phone, Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note. Conveniently, the MX's four-inch display lets it sit bang in the middle of the group, and the phone also turns out to be a tad thinner, narrower and shorter than the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/xiaomi+phone?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Xiaomi Phone</a>. Of course, we'll dig a little deeper in our review, so stay tuned and enjoy our party pics for now.<br />

	<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Dell/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget" style="text-align: -webkit-auto; ">Dell</a>'s latest attempt to promote its high-end GPUs has fallen flat among online consumers, all because of a rather misleading comparison. The snafu stems from the above image, originally posted on the company's "Help me choose" feature -- an online assistant designed to help users customize their <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/optiplex?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Optiplex</a> desktops. At left is a desktop with a normal graphics card, juxtaposed with an identical machine packing Dell's "high-end" GPU. Both are displaying a Windows desktop at the same resolution, but the render on the left looks noticeably blurry. As many <em>Reddit</em> users soon pointed out, even the most prosaic of graphics cards would be able to transmit a blur-free Windows desktop, implying that the PC manufacturer may have taken some unfounded liberties with its imagery. <em>PC Pro</em> notified Dell of the discrepancy, and the graphic has since been removed. The company also issued the following apology, claiming that it had no intention of bending the truth:</div>
<blockquote>
	<div style="text-align: left; ">
		Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Dell endeavours to help customers to make the best decisions regarding their purchases. It was never our intention to mislead customers, and we apologise for any confusion caused. We have now removed the image from our Global sites. Dell remains committed to delivering the best possible experience to all our customers.</div>

Nokia's second generation Extended Depth of Field (<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/edof?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">EDoF</a>) camera was recently put through the wringer by the folks at <em>All About Symbian</em>, and for a technology that traditionally fails at macro shots, we're happy to see that the engineers in Espoo have made dramatic advances with this second go-around. Using the same lens and sensor as before, we're told the improvements come from a refined image processor alone. In a side-by-side comparison, this business was card snapped from 12-inches (30cm) away, first with a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/14/nokia-c7-first-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">C7</a> and then a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/03/nokia-701-hands-on-video/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">701</a>. While the new setup isn't perfect, the difference is certainly appreciable. Of course, Nokia has all but ditched EDoF in its high end smartphones -- as evidenced by our reviews of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/22/nokia-n9-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">N9</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/03/nokia-lumia-800-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Lumia 800</a> -- but the technology remains very much alive within its lower-end affairs, and really, who doesn't like to see improvement? For a complete breakdown of the new technology, be sure to hit up the source link below.

We spent the weekend shooting around New York City with the iPhone 4S, along with some other top smartphones -- the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/22/iphone-4-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">iPhone 4</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/11/t-mobile-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Samsung Galaxy S II</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/14/nokia-n8-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Nokia N8</a> and HTC's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/15/htc-amaze-4g-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Amaze 4G</a> -- in order to determine just which phone's camera reigns supreme. And in order to capture video and stills with consistent framing among all five devices, we secured each smartphone to that homemade quintuple cameraphone mount that you see above -- it may be an early prototype, but it got the job done. Here comes the second episode of a thrilling three-part saga. Not content with simply selling <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/25/samsung-moves-10-million-galaxy-s-iis-pats-itself-on-the-back/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">ten million units</a> of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/28/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">GT-I9100</a> -- its flagship device -- in the course of the last five months, Samsung's ready to flood the good ol' US of A with a healthy dose of the Galaxy S II, and it has three carriers -- Sprint, AT&amp;T and T-Mobile -- already <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/30/galaxy-s-ii-for-sprint-atandt-and-t-mobile-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">signed up on the dotted line</a>. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/15/samsung-epic-4g-touch-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Epic 4G Touch</a> has already made its way into stores (not to mention the hearts of customers), and Ma Bell's next in line to appease the masses.<br />
<br />
This time, things are a smidge different. Whereas Sprint opted to enlarge the screen and add in a few other select design tweaks, it appears that AT&amp;T wanted to keep its variant -- appropriately named the Galaxy S II -- as close to the international smash hit as possible, opting for the same display size, squared corners and battery (albeit, with a twist). As it turns out, the tweaks are much more subtle than they were on last year's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/22/samsung-galaxy-s-review-shootout-captivate-for-atandt-and-vibrant/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Samsung Captivate</a>, which arguably looked almost nothing like the original Galaxy S. So does AT&amp;T's model fit in with its two close compadres? Was its design choice the right decision for this go-round? Follow us below to get the full scoop.<br />

We know a few of you have been waiting with bated breath for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/06/commodore-usa-puts-the-new-c64-up-for-pre-sales-unveils-far-les/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">retooled Commodore C64</a> to arrive, so we're not at all surprised that the first people to claim one are wasting no time putting its tactile keys through its paces. In that clip you see below, YouTube user "EternalPtah" places the three decades-old original next to its Atom-powered successor, comparing everything from the beige color to the height of the function keys. All told, he reassures us, the twenty-first century iteration is a worthy follow-up to the vintage model, even if it <em>does</em> replace the power light with a button. If you've got four minutes to spare, hit play for what will probably be the most nostalgic hands-on you see this week.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/28/nokia-n9-camera-sample-images-and-video/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img border="1" hspace="4" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/11x06281514b32n9.jpg" vspace="4" /></a></div><p> Our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/21/nokia-n9-first-hands-on/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">first encounter</a> with Nokia's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/n9?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">N9</a> may have been eleven different kinds of awesome, but we knew it was a mere scratch of the high-grade polycarbonate surface. One of the core pieces of functionality we didn't get the chance to address back then was the camera, and after Nokia decided to toot that horn recently -- saying, among other things, that it's the "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/22/nokia-claims-n9-is-the-fastest-image-capturing-phone-yet/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">fastest image-capturing phone</a>" yet -- we decided we had to go back for a second go-around.<br /> <br /> In terms of performance, Nokia's camera application definitely lives up to the company's own hype, with nearly instant captures and an equally brisk return to a state of readiness for more image-taking. When shooting video, we noted that audio recording starts slightly later than the video, leaving the first half second or so without sound. This isn't an uncommon issue (we've seen it on other phones and tablets) and can be seen in our video sample after the break. Now might be a good time to also mention that the N9s we tested with today were all prototype units, so don't prejudge Nokia's final hardware on the basis of what you see here. Unless your premature judgment is positive, we doubt Nokia would mind that.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokia-n9-camera-sample-images/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Nokia N9 camera sample images</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokia-n9-camera-sample-images/4257280?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/11d628439n9s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokia-n9-camera-sample-images/4257300?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/11d6284109n9s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokia-n9-camera-sample-images/4257271?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/11d628430n9s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokia-n9-camera-sample-images/4257258?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/11d628417n9s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokia-n9-camera-sample-images/4257263?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/11d628422n9s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> So anyhow, we took a walk around the company's offices, escorted by a group of unarmed but surely lethal Finnish ninjas, taking shots of the surrounding cityscape as we went. The results show the N9 picking up a ton of detail and controlling noise admirably, while a few impromptu ThinkPad hands-on photos convinced us it can do a pretty stellar job with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokia-n9-camera-sample-images/#4257300?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">closeups</a> as well. With a name like <em>N9</em>, however, it was obvious which phone we needed to compare Nokia's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/25/nokias-stephen-elop-is-still-over-meego-even-if-the-n9-is-a-hi/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">lone wolf</a> MeeGo handset to, so out came our trusty N8 with its world-beating 12 megapixel sensor. Alas, in spite of having an F2.2 aperture on the N9, Nokia hasn't managed to replicate the heroics of its earlier device: the N8 shows its advantage in consistently picking out better color balance and in also being sharper throughout the frame. It makes the N9's images appear as if they were shot through a haze, though we hasten to add that this should be considered a strength of the older phone rather than a major failure of the new one. Additionally, the N9 suffers from the typically narrow dynamic range of smartphone camera sensors, which is the cause of the consistently blown-out sky in our gallery images. Still, considering the quick software operation and consistently detailed imagery on offer from the N9, we'd say Nokia is on to a winner here.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokia-n9-versus-nokia-n8-camera-samples/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Nokia N9 versus Nokia N8 camera samples</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokia-n9-versus-nokia-n8-camera-samples/4257449?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/11d628409n8s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokia-n9-versus-nokia-n8-camera-samples/4257450?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/11d628409n89s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokia-n9-versus-nokia-n8-camera-samples/4257439?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/11d628405n8s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokia-n9-versus-nokia-n8-camera-samples/4257440?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/11d628405n89s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokia-n9-versus-nokia-n8-camera-samples/4257443?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/11d628407n8s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> P.S. -- Looking for the full-size 8 megapixel stills from the N9? If you've somehow not heard of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/24/lenovo-thinkpad-x1-confirmed-faster-charging-integrated-battery/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">ThinkPad X1</a> yet, you join us at a good time. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/11/lenovo-thinkpad-x1-coming-may-17th-with-gorilla-glass-screen-an/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">well leaked</a> laptop has shown up at an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/lenovo%2Cxseries?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">X Series</a> comparison site, put together by Lenovo itself, where yet more specs have been made known. The 13.3-inch display is dubbed a SuperBright HD inifinity panel, which to you and us simply means it's built using IPS technology. There's also an integrated fingerprint reader, a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/18/lenovo-thinkpad-x220-review/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">buttonless touchpad</a>, USB 3.0 connectivity, and a promised 10-hour battery life with a slice battery. Weighing in at 1.36kg (3lbs) and measuring about 16mm (0.625 inches) in thickness, it's described as Lenovo's thinnest ThinkPad yet. Last time we heard, we were told to expect it on May 17th, guess those webmasters are getting the show started a little early. One more glamor shot of the X1 can be found after the break.<br />
<br />

A <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/askengadgethd,netflix?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Netflix</a> Watch Instantly app is pretty much a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/25/the-winners-of-the-2010-engadget-awards-editors-choice/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">standard feature</a> on home theater devices these days, but with so many options, how do you choose which one to use? That's what our friend Don wants to know, but we'll let him describe the situation first:<blockquote>
<div><em>I've got plenty of options on what to use for Netflix streaming, but how am I supposed to know which one is the best? I've been using my PlayStation 3 for a while and dig the surround sound, but it stopped working when the PlayStation Network went down and since then I've been switching between the Xbox 360 and my Samsung TV's embedded Netflix app. I've got a Roku player in another room but i don't use that very often. Every now and then there's some softness in a picture or one of them won't pull an HD stream if it's available and I wonder if I should switch for good, but so far it's easier to just go with whichever one is the easiest. Do you have a preferred option?</em></div>
</blockquote>There you have it, with many of us doing at least some streaming now we're wondering which way have you found works best to bring Netflix's movies to your TV screen? Obviously only a few options support extra features like 1080p streams, surround sound or closed captions, and even with standardization on the new HTML5 UI, there's several devices out there going their own way. We've done <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/19/do-not-time-netflix-hd-streaming-shootout/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">our own comparisons</a>, but the rapid iteration of hardware and software has left it a little out of date. He's probably not the only one with more than one Netflix-capable box in the living room either, so let us know why you chose the one you use most in the comments below.<br />
<br />
