We like the NetDevil guys. Nay, we love them. They always exude an aura of earnestness and child-like enthusiasm that stands out even amongst an industry full of people who work 60 hour weeks for a case of Diet Mountain Dew. That, and almost everybody in the Massively offices is a complete geek for sci-fi, which makes their upcoming Jumpgate Evolution quite the attractive prospect indeed. This is why we couldn't help but link to this video interview that JGE Producer Hermann Peterscheck did with the Gaming Radio Network. The interview is a little old, coming from back during Connect 08, but it's still pretty amusing. Peterscheck just radiates passion for the project, and by the end of the interview you'll find it hard not to buy what he's selling. It helps that the game sounds terrific too.

Kate Paiz, senior producer of Dungeons and Dragons Online, sat down with players today at Connect08 to demonstrate the new Monk class -- upcoming in Module 7 -- and answer a number of questions about future plans for the game.Photography wasn't permitted so we just managed to grab this quick snap of the character creation screen (above), showing a new armor design to accompany the new class. There's another month of development time left before the module goes into alpha, so expect more polish further down the line.During the demo of the Monk we saw the basic character animations -- they're very much in a martial-arts style (apparently inspired by Shaolin monks) with kicks, punches and even a backflip. The movement is graceful and smooth, and unarmed combat feels natural.

Ten Ton Hammer recently had the chance to talk to Dungeons and Dragons Online producer Kate Paiz, and learned about some of the things to expect when Module 7 is released. During the interview, she said that the Connect 08 event that will take place in just a few days time now will showcase one of the main features of this content update, the brand new Monk class. This will not just be a video -- there will be a playable demo available to attendees as well.Apart from the Monk, Module 7 will bring a new high level wilderness and raid based in Shavarath, and some improvements to the crafting system, with more crafting love promised for the future. TTH also asks Paiz about how the 4th Edition D&D Ruleset will affect DDO. Without going into all the detail here, she basically says that they will work out what fits with DDO only after the Wizards of the Coast iron out the new feature set, which is not set in stone just yet. Check out the full interview for more on that and Module 7, with just a hint of Module 8 at the end.

That's right, more free stuff for those lucky enough to attend Codemasters' Connect '08 on the 14th and 15th of March. The European Lord of the Rings Online website has made it known that everyone attending the event will receive an in-game Ranger cloak for LotRO. This will be the first time this cloak is made available, and it has a unique design and a limited duration 5% speed boost as an effect. The cloak joins the list of other cool swag available to visitors of Connect '08, including exclusive in-game LotRO titles (The Worldly Traveler, Pillar of the Community, Greeter of Kin) and beta invites for Jumpgate Evolution -- and this is only the announced stuff. Who knows what else might get thrown?

Codemasters' brand new European gaming event Connect 2008 is a little over a month away, and if you've been on the fence about whether to make it out to the Omega Sektor indoor gaming center, LotroLife.com has a deal that might just make your mind up for you. Visit their Connect '08 promotion page, click a magic button, and voila! A promotional code that grants 20% off your ticket purchase is all yours.Certainly one of the best reasons to attend the convention will be the chance to get your hands on Jumpgate Evolution, with the game being featured on all the computers at the Omega Sektor, and NetDevil will have developers on hand to answer questions -- not to mention, all attendees walk out the door with a JGE beta key. This, on top of all the other games and developers/producers that will be there (which now includes specia guests Jeffrey Steefel of Lord of the Rings Online and Kate Paiz of Dungeons and Dragons Online), leads us to believe that Connect '08 is going to have a stellar debut.

Codemasters Online are the European distributors of quite a number of MMOs, including Lord of the Rings Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online, RF Online, and ArchLord. These games and more will feature at a brand new community event hosted by Codemasters in the UK called "Connect 2008", as revealed on LotRO's European site today. The event will span 2 days, from the 14th to the 15th of March this year, and there will be 400 networked PCs to play Codemasters' current and future games, including some that they say are as-of-yet unannounced. There will of course be some gaming swag for attendees, and the chance to talk with some of the people behind the games -- not to mention meeting other people from your game's community. You will be required to purchase a ticket for the event (although they aren't on sale yet) and there is apparently going to be a fairly limited supply. If a trip to England sounds like your cup of tea, then you'll want to keep checking the official Connect 2008 website for updated ticketing info -- or simply to watch the giant countdown clock -- and you can also sign up to a newsletter to stay on top of the latest word. Or, if you want to get really involved, they have even set up Myspace and Facebook profiles.
