What is this bundle of Beats? It's a set of wireless over-ear headphones (on the right) alongside your very own Beatbox portable audio player (left). Of course, AT&T is putting this all together to celebrate the launch of its five-episode web miniseries, "Daybreak," which debuts tonight immediately following the finale of "Touch" on Fox and runs for five weeks. So make sure you hook us up with a comment below and check out the show tonight. Good luck!

Continue reading Engadget Giveaway: win one of four Beats Audio bundles, courtesy of Daybreak!

Engadget Giveaway: win one of four Beats Audio bundles, courtesy of Daybreak! originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 31 May 2012 11:01:00 EST. Priced at $400, these cans are spendier than a fair number of smartphones, but it offers Kleer technology with CD-quality lossless audio and will work up to 50 feet away from your device. And just for kicks and giggles, SMS Audio is also throwing in a snapback hat, shirt and a backpack to go along with your prize, so it's definitely worth heading below the rules and leaving a comment to enter. Good luck!

Continue reading Engadget Giveaway: win one of two pairs of Sync by 50 wireless over-ear headphones!

Engadget Giveaway: win one of two pairs of Sync by 50 wireless over-ear headphones! originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 29 May 2012 11:15:00 EST. We dare you to resist the tempting lure of an 11-inch MacBook Air with 4GB RAM and 128GB hard drive, capable of running Mac OS X and Windows 7! With graduation season upon us, our friends at Parallels are hooking you up with the best senior gift that you could possibly receive. So what's this software all about? Essentially, it allows you to run Windows and OS X apps side-by-side on your Mac without rebooting -- that way, you'll get the best of both worlds.

The MacBook Air will come pre-loaded with Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac, Windows 7 home premium and Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 for Windows. It'll also come with Parallels Mobile app for iOS, which gives you the ability to access and run everything on your Mac via your iPhone or iPad. Not too shabby for the low, low price of one comment. So brush up on the rules, enter to win and good luck!

Continue reading Engadget Giveaway: win an 11-inch MacBook Air pre-loaded with Parallels!

Engadget Giveaway: win an 11-inch MacBook Air pre-loaded with Parallels! originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 21 May 2012 11:01:00 EST. As a response to this year's theme, "If I could travel in time, I'd visit...," Dylan created a pirate scene doodle that features a vibrant parrot, a rotund swashbuckler and a treasure chest full of loot to form the Google logo. According to Dylan, he'd ideally, "Sail a pirate ship looking for treasure, have a colorful pet parrot and enjoy beautiful sunsets from deserted islands." Sounds quite nice -- especially without the scurvy. For his creativity, Google has awarded Dylan with a $30,000 college scholarship, a Chromebook computer and a $50,000 technology grant to his school. Later this fall, Dylan's artwork will grace a special edition 64-count box of Crayola crayons. No doubt a fine plunder for an excellent work of art.

Doodle 4 Google winner cashes in with 'Pirate Times' drawing, finds a Chromebook in the treasure chest originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 17 May 2012 22:46:00 EST. The bad news is that you have to bring your own popcorn. The good news, on the other hand, is that the feature film and the TV are on us! Thanks to the folks at Universal Studios Home Entertainment, there's a 40-inch 1080p HDTV up for grabs. The occasion is the studio's release of The Grey, starring Liam Neeson, on Blu-ray this coming Tuesday May 15th. If you're the lucky winner, however, you won't even have to venture out to stores to pick up a copy of your own -- one will come included with the TV! Until now, that is. Company Evangelist Ben Rudolph claims that over 50,000 smartphones -- or 98 percent of all contenders -- have been beaten in the challenges since the company started running them back at CES, with just 638 people having proved their devices faster at a trade show or a Microsoft Store. That's good news for advocates, although it doesn't come without its share of controversies over fairness and whether or not the challenges overlook the advantages of your Android phone, BlackBerry or iPhone. Ultimately, the real challenge for Microsoft may be translating those successes into real improvements for its so-so market share.

Microsoft touts 98-percent 'Smoked by Windows Phone' success rate, a few beg to differ originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 08 May 2012 14:17:00 EST. Skullcandy just released its latest lineup of new gear, and the Supreme Sound Hesh -- billed as a mid-tier on-ear headphone that has the sound of sets twice its cost -- looks pretty tempting. The Hesh aims to enhance the bass, natural voice and precision highs, regardless of what you're listening to (we know you enjoy the occasional Air Supply, no need to be ashamed). As always, just read the rules and hook us up with a comment below to enter. There's five sets of headphones to be won this time around!

Update: due to some technical difficulties, we're extending the deadline for submitting your comment to 11:59AM on May 9th. Thanks!

Continue reading Engadget Giveaway: win one of five pairs of Skullcandy Hesh on-ear headphones!

Engadget Giveaway: win one of five pairs of Skullcandy Hesh on-ear headphones! originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 07 May 2012 11:15:00 EST. This time Paramount Home Media Distribution is stepping up to the plate to celebrate tomorrow's release of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol on Blu-ray and DVD, and it's offering a pair of special edition Zeal Optics Z3 Transcend GPS goggles (by special edition, we mean the box is M:I-branded), as well as a copy of the movie! But if you don't win this time, you may still have a chance to get something: the first two runners-up will receive the movie as well. Fortunately, all you need to do is leave a comment -- we're not asking you to climb a skyscraper or anything.

Continue reading Engadget Giveaway: win a pair of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol Zeal Optics Z3 Transcend GPS goggles!

Engadget Giveaway: win a pair of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol Zeal Optics Z3 Transcend GPS goggles! originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 16 Apr 2012 11:01:00 EST. See, the in-flight WiFi provider is setting you up with the chance to win a 32GB AT&T LTE version of Apple's latest slate and it's throwing in a full year of free Gogo service to go along with it. That's definitely not a shabby prize, to say the least, so you'll surely want to read the rules and leave a comment to earn yourself a shot to win. Day two is already here, and it's time to enter to win another new iPad. This time it's CloudOn (iTunes link) that's hooking you up with the opportunity to nab a 16GB WiFi-only version, as a way of celebrating Tuesday's release of its latest update in the App Store. The free app gives you the ability to create, edit and share Office docs with Dropbox, Adobe Reader and Box synchronization as well as a few other goodies.

This time around, you'll need to answer a specific question in the comments as part of the entry process: what are two things you'd like to see on your iPad to help you stay productive while on the go? As a way of showing our gratitude -- not to mention the fact that these contests aren't going away anytime soon -- we're offering up three new iPads over the next three days! That's right, you'll have the chance to win one of Apple's latest tablets each day through Friday.

Let's meet our first contestant. We have a 16GB WiFi-only iPad up for grabs, courtesy of HarperCollins and its new app called "Wonders of the Universe." The astronomy app was designed for iOS5 and takes full advantage of the new iPad's Retina display. It essentially combines seven programs into one, offering a visual experience that lets you explore the Universe from subatomic levels all the way up to full galaxies. So read the rules, leave a comment and you've successfully entered to win for the first day! But you'll need to come back tomorrow and Friday if you want to take a shot at the other two.

Continue reading Three iPad giveaways in three days: day one, courtesy of Wonders of the Universe!

Three iPad giveaways in three days: day one, courtesy of Wonders of the Universe! originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 11 Apr 2012 11:01:00 EST. TurboTax is hoping to relieve you of much of that stress, finally bringing its easy-use software in the form of an Android tablet app -- and even Kindle Fire users get to share the apptastic love, which is why the tax software company hooked us up with three of them to give away to our fine readers. You may be procrastinating until April 17th to file your taxes, but this contest only lasts for two days, so head below to leave a comment. That's where the Lumia 800 comes in real handy... especially an unlocked version that would come to you completely gratis. The beauty has been made possible by Quixby, a startup based in Ohio that just launched a new service that could make it easier to buy, build and share a computer. In honor of this special day, our friends at ioSafe want to make sure you're hooked up with plenty of storage to mark the occasion. As a result, they're hooking you up with three chances to win a Rugged Portable hard drive of the 500GB variety (sorry, Terrence and sledgehammer not included). Half a terabyte of storage capacity ain't too shabby, but the beauty of this prize is not in what it can hold, but rather what it can endure. It's designed to take a heckuva lot of abuse from whatever you throw at it: drops, water, chemicals, you name it. So don't delay, enter to win and celebrate World Backup Day!
Continue reading Engadget Giveaway: win one of three ioSafe 500GB Rugged Portable hard drives!

Engadget Giveaway: win one of three ioSafe 500GB Rugged Portable hard drives! originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 29 Mar 2012 11:01:00 EST. What could be better than our usual Monday morning giveaway? Why, a Tuesday morning giveaway of a new iPad, of course. If you missed the pre-order madness or can't be bothered to hit your local bricks and mortar to pick up a new iPad, no sweat, Kabam's got you covered. Celebrating the launch of its first iOS title, Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North, Kabam decided to gift one of Apple's newest toys for you to make the most of its free game. Entering is as easy as dropping a comment in this post -- and reading the rules. But don't sweat it if you miss out on winning this iPad as Kabam's giving one away each day until the 31st of March for just playing the game. Good luck!
Just like that, another giveaway materializes out of the ether, and it's a doozy. There's a particular tablet getting a whole bunch of attention today, and NVIDIA has a sinister idea to distract you from the newest slate on the block: offer up a couple Tegra 3-powered ASUS Transformer Primes, complete with keyboard docks! No matter what kind of fanboy or girl you are, everybody wins today in one way or another, and it's hard not to be interested in anything that uses a quad-core CPU (with a 5th battery saver core thrown in for good measure) with a bunch of games to take advantage of the experience. So as usual, make sure you read the rules and leave a comment to enter the contest.
Continue reading Engadget Giveaway: win one of two ASUS Transformer Primes, courtesy of NVIDIA!

Engadget Giveaway: win one of two ASUS Transformer Primes, courtesy of NVIDIA! originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 16 Mar 2012 11:01:00 EST. Editors' Choice awardees are designated for each of the same 15 categories that you voted in earlier this month, but these results represent our own opinions, and are not influenced by your nominations. Naturally, there's some overlap here and there, but there are plenty of newcomers as well. As you can see in the teaser just below, we've included a brief summary for each product to give you an idea of what motivated our decisions, which you'll find just beside the rest of our favorite products once you click past the break.

Also, be sure to leave a comment for your chance to win an unlocked Galaxy Nexus -- courtesy of the folks at Negri Electronics. With more than 250,000 total votes, the response this year has been tremendous -- and no, that's not just another name for the Galaxy Note, which garnered just 3.5 percent of tallies in the Smartphone category. Instead, the iPhone 4S took top prize for Smartphones, followed by the Samsung Galaxy S II as the runner up. The ASUS Zenbook was the first pick among this year's Laptops, with the Apple iMac besting the rest of 2011's Desktops. Canon and Nikon battled it out till the end, but the former eventually came out ahead, earning 17.9 percent of the Digital Camera vote for its T3i, while the Nikon D5100 represented a very respectable 17.6 percent. That's just a small sample of this year's top gadgets -- there are 15 categories in all, and we're crowning both Readers' and Editors' Choice winners for each. Jump past the break for an unabridged look at your selections for the 2011 Engadget Awards, and check back tomorrow for the Editors' Choice. And if you're wondering who came in almost-first place, you can find the runners up for each category in this week's issue of Engadget Distro.

Continue reading The winners of the 2011 Engadget Awards -- Readers' Choice

The winners of the 2011 Engadget Awards -- Readers' Choice originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 23 Feb 2012 12:00:00 EST. Our friends at Nokia are showing up big, offering not one but five T-Mobile branded Lumia 710 units for our lucky readers! Indeed, we'll be picking out five winners and shipping one out to each. So head on below to leave a comment, and good luck!

Note: You'll definitely want to read the fine print this time around, as there are a few caveats: the Lumia 710s being given out are strictly locked to work with T-Mobile US SIMs, and service is not coming with the prizes.
Continue reading Engadget Giveaway: win one of five Nokia Lumia 710s on T-Mobile, courtesy of Nokia!

Engadget Giveaway: win one of five Nokia Lumia 710s on T-Mobile, courtesy of Nokia! originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 13 Feb 2012 11:01:00 EST. It may sound counterintuitive, but that's exactly what Russian operator MegaFon is offering to its subscribers, as part of a curious 3G promotion. It all began back in November, when the provider announced a rather straightforward contest: customers who downloaded the most data with their 3G modems would be awarded prizes worth up to one million rubles (about $33,000), including a $5,000 vacation. According to Russian news site C News, MegaFon launched the campaign in order to showcase the expanse of its data network, which apparently covers more than 80 percent of northwestern Russia and offers speeds of up to 21Mbps. The promotion came to an official close on January 31st, with the coronation of a lucky winner who, over the course of a single week, managed to scarf down 419GB of data on the company's 3G network. MegaFon didn't offer usage statistics on the second and third place winners, nor did it say what they won for their efforts, if you wanna call them that.

Russian carrier gives $5,000 vacation to its most data hungry customer originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 06 Feb 2012 14:37:00 EST. This year we've got 15 categories up for grabs, with 30 total awards to be decided. All finalists for Engadget Awards are reader-nominated, and the editors of Engadget will then select the best of those nominations (usually somewhere between 4-6 devices) as finalists. There are two awards per category: Readers' Choice (voted on by you!), and Editors' Choice (selected by us). The vote will take place in a few weeks once the nominees are picked, and winners will be announced shortly thereafter.

Submit your favorite devices for consideration using the form just past the break, and feel free to elaborate in the comments. You don't need to fill in every field, but you are required to answer at least one question in order for your form to be processed. The fount of free stuff to give away overfloweth -- and we want to keep the holiday spirit alive -- so we've taken the opportunity to offer up two more huge contests before CES approaches this coming weekend. Through tomorrow you'll have the chance to win a BlackBerry Bold 9900 and a full year's worth of top-notch voice turn-by-turn navigation, all courtesy of TeleNav! The Bold will be locked to T-Mobile's network, so you'll need to have a T-Mo SIM card to be right as rain. The normal rules apply, so make sure you read through them thoroughly and leave a comment below. Good luck!
Continue reading The Engadget Giveaway: win a BlackBerry Bold 9900 and a one-year TeleNav subscription!

The Engadget Giveaway: win a BlackBerry Bold 9900 and a one-year TeleNav subscription! originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 02 Jan 2012 11:00:00 EST. Get drooling, gadget fans, because Day Four of our weeklong Holiday Blues-buster giveaway is upon us -- and if none of the other items get your heart pumping this week, this one will. At stake here is a freshly-minted Verizon Galaxy Nexus LTE, thanks to the folks at Appitalism (the mobile app superstore)! We hear these little pocket calculators are pretty hard to come by right now, and we imagine you won't hesitate to jump at the chance to win one, so jump past the break to see all the rules and leave a comment!

Oh, and as a nice little bonus, Appitalism is also adding a pair of Beats over-the-ear headphones (a $300 value) to sweeten the deal even more, just in case the Galaxy Nexus doesn't have enough sugar for you. Good luck!

Continue reading Engadget's Holiday Blues-buster 2011: win a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, courtesy of Appitalism!

Engadget's Holiday Blues-buster 2011: win a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, courtesy of Appitalism! originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 22 Dec 2011 11:01:00 EST. Day two of our week-long contest is upon us, and we're just getting started! Today we'll be giving away an unlocked GSM / HSPA+ iPhone 4S thanks to Wyse, the company behind PocketCloud. The usual rules apply, with one caveat: in the comments below, simply state how you plan on using PocketCloud this holiday season (keep it family friendly, please). Sound good? It's just going to keep getting better and better throughout the week, so keep coming back every day!

Note: The above picture is not the actual iPhone being given away. The unit we have is an unlocked GSM iPhone 4S, though gift receipts are available if the winner prefers to exchange it out for a CDMA model.

Continue reading Engadget's Holiday Blues-buster 2011: win an unlocked iPhone 4S, courtesy of Wyse!

Engadget's Holiday Blues-buster 2011: win an unlocked iPhone 4S, courtesy of Wyse! originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 20 Dec 2011 11:01:00 EST. Turns out that Microsoft's hoping to get some influential people on board with Windows Phone, and it's choosing a unique strategy to do so. It's partnered with Klout, a service that uses social media analytics to weigh the influence you have on your social network, to give away 500 free devices -- along with VIP passes to one of five Windows Phone launch parties across the country -- to those who qualify through Klout Perks. The winners appear to be determined by their Klout score and if they live in the same city as one of the five shindigs. But it's clear that the Windows giant wants to be heard, and it might just work: according to Klout's official blog, "top influencers are trusted by their audience to share their real opinions and more and more brands are recognizing this power." In short, Redmond's banking on the possibility that some mightily influential people will have great things to say about its product. After all, word of mouth is a powerful marketing tool. Head to the source link to find out how to learn if you're one of the lucky 500.

Got Klout? We had a great time combing through your Frankengadget mash-ups, and while there were many worthy submissions, we sadly had to narrow it down to just five. Our submission deadline has since passed, but now the real fun begins -- it's time to vote! Scroll through the gallery at the bottom of this post, then make your pick in the poll below, selecting just one winner (you can use the thumbs above as your guide). Your top selection's creator will get to take home their very own copy of Adobe Creative Suite 5.5. Voting closes at 12PM ET on Friday, and the winner will be announced on the Engadget Show later that evening, so stay tuned!
View Poll

Gallery: Frankengadget Finalists

Poll: Vote for your favorite Frankengadget! originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 19 Oct 2011 18:00:00 EST.
