Okay, so we're thinking we need to come up with a name for the "slider with touch sensitive controls" form factor, because "Chocolate clone" is starting to get a little long in the tooth. Any ideas? In the meantime, feast your eyes on Pantech & Curitel's latest... uh, Chocolate clone, the PN-S280 (which is apparently also known as the PT-K2800). Our eyes started to glaze over after we read about the 1.3 megapixel cam, but the QVGA display doesn't hurt -- and we think the Chocolate looks still probably afford you some points with the buying public. Look for this one next time you make it to Korea for about 300,000 won ($320, give or take).

Is it just us, or does this look vaguely like an LG CU320 before it got smacked with the ugly stick? As you might guess from the SKY branding, Pantech's IM-S130K won't be making it to the States -- or anywhere outside Korea, for that matter -- but our Korean friends will benefit from a 2-megapixel cam, integrated GPS, and multimedia support. Given that this hot little slider is better looking than just about anything Pantech's dropped so far in the US, we can only hope some of these design cues trickle down to their other offerings before too long.

  • Not for US consumption: Pantech's PT-K2700

It's not unusual for a manufacturer to call out a model for being slim and stylish (or any number of other completely subjective, meaningless terms) but Pantech's kicking it up to the next level, emblazoning "stylish slim" right on the phone's face -- lest you forget the goodness of the device resting in your hands. The uh, stylish slim PT-K2700 for KTF packs 140MB of internal storage and a GPS, though the subpar 1.3-megapixel shooter dampens our mood a tad. Then again, this thing won't be making the hop outside Korean borders, so we're not getting too worked up about it either way.

  • The PT-S130: Pantech looks to steal a "world's first"

Yes, we know this looks like your garden variety Korea-only swiveling flip phone with DMB, but Pantech is making a very interesting claim about its PT-S130: it's allegedly the first DMB phone with Bluetooth. Of course, Samsung's been trying hard to collect every "world's first" title under the sun, but if this thing beats Sammy's Bluetooth / S-DMB SCH-B450 to market, Pantech's claim might just be legit. Other features include a 2.4-inch QVGA display, stereo speakers, and 2 megapixel autofocus camera -- pretty standard fare in Korea, but as usual, that doesn't stop us yanks from drooling.

"Communications beyond time and place" is the theme for Pantech's round of concepts for next-generation mobile devices, and though we don't really know what that means, we like a lot of what we're seeing. Apparently "time" is a reference to the fourth dimension, which ties into the 4G services these phones are designed to support. No deets on a possible release for any of these; we're guessing we shouldn't be holding our breath, but if these serve as inspiration for Pantech's design direction, we're all for it -- especially considering these guys put together the rather unfortunate-looking Hero for Helio.[Via textually.org]

  • Curitel drops a perfectly average slider, the PT-K2100

Korean carrier KTF is spreadin' some more slider love courtesy of Curitel. The PT-K2100 is undoubtedly Korea-only, but fret not, friends; there's not much to get excited about here. GPS is integrated to offer support for KTF's K-Ways voice navigation service with 3D mapping. Otherwise, the phone weighs in with a 1.3 megapixel camera, MP3 player, and that's about it -- not enough meat to justify its 19.9mm of relative chubbiness.

Pantech's better half Curitel is showing us their latest bit of Korea-only goodness, the PT-K2300. The slider's claim to fame is its touch-sensitive surface, which allows the weary user to actuate functions with virtually no effort whatsoever. (The screen itself is not touch-sensitive, however.) Besides the garden-variety 1.3 megapixel camera and MicroSD slot, A2DP is included, as our model appears to be demonstrating here, which should come in handy for the MP3 player and streaming radio support. Available in "Icy White" and "Noble Black," if you're in Korea, that is.

New to the South Korean market: the Pantech and Curitel PT-S200 handset, a multimedia slider featuring a 2 megapixel camera and all-important subway map. This 17.9-millimeter thick model also sports a QVGA display, MicroSD slot for MP3s, mobile banking capabilities, and the requisite (for Korea, at least) electronic dictionary. Available only in white, the PT-S200 seems to be on sale immediately for the Korean equivalent of $425.
