Some of those tracks are listed after the break, the full list can be found on Harmonix's DC3 site.

Harmonix websites are back, following an attack last week that brought down the official Rock Band and Dance Central websites. Harmonix disabled passwords for all accounts as a precautionary measure and now suggests it's safe for users to head back and reset their passwords. There's no word on who initiated the attack, though Harmonix assured there aren't any signs of user information being published or misused. The attack comes a week after Harmonix concluded its DLC campaign for Rock Band, which delivered new songs every week for over five years.

  • March is last month of Dance Central 3 DLC 'for the near future'

This month marks the last time that we'll see downloadable content for Dance Central 3 anytime soon, Harmonix has announced. "As Harmonix moves forward with several new titles currently in development, the talented developers who make this content are needed on other projects," reads the Dance Central blog. The studio doesn't completely shut the door on more content, however, stating that March is the last month of new DLC "for the near future." Live challenges and leaderboards will continue to be supported, and all DLC tracks will remain available. This is the second time Harmonix has made such an announcement this year. Last month, the developer revealed that Rock Band 3 will receive no more DLC after April 2. The Rock Band franchise as a whole has had weekly DLC since the original game debuted in 2007.That raises the question: Just what is studio working on now? Dance Central has consistently been one of the best-received products for Microsoft's Kinect, so it wouldn't be surprising to see a new Dance Central debut on the next Xbox, which is believed to have a more advanced Kinect sensor. The PS4 Eye is capable of motion-track as well, so a multiplatform title is also possible. Or who knows, maybe we'll see something entirely new.

Dance Central 3 is set to receive a hefty infusion of new tracks this month. One Direction and its ubiquitous "What Makes You Beautiful" will drop on February 5. On February 12 the Beebs returns with two new jams in "Justin Bieber Dance Pack 01," which features "Beauty And A Beat" and "All Around the World." The pack will run $5, or each track will be available individually for $3.On February 19 you can grab the number one song on your jogging megamix, Ellie Goulding's "Lights." The month is rounded out on February 26 with "Airplanes" by B.O.B., though we're not really sure what music from a 16-bit action game is doing in Dance Central.

  • Dance Central 3 January DLC line-up whips it then drops it to the floor

January's DLC line-up for Dance Central 3 includes Nicki Minaj's "Whip It," Pitbull ft. T-Pain's "(Hey Baby) Drop It to The Floor," and Flo Rida's "Let It Roll." Whatever 'It' is, we're worried it's getting an unwarranted amount of abuse. Thankfully the month's two other downloadable offerings, namely Pitbull ft. Chris Brown's "International Love" and The Wanted's "Glad You Came," are much more affectionate-sounding."Whip It," originally a bonus track available with Walmart pre-orders of the game, is available for all from tomorrow on Xbox Live Marketplace. The two Pitbull tracks follow in a week's time on January 15, then it's "Glad You Came" on January 22 and "Let it Roll" on January 29. Each track sets you back 240 MSP, but you can get a couple of doggies on the cheap with Pitbull Pack 01, a bundle of "(Hey Baby) Drop It to The Floor" and "International Love" which woofs in at 400 MSP.

  • Medal of Honor: Warfighter unseats FIFA on UK charts

Shock and awe, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, which is receiving some of the worst reviews of the season so far, took first place in the UK last week. This is either a sign of the media's impotence or a hat tip to the brilliance of publisher EA that it withheld review copies until launch. A similar situation occurred with Resident Evil 6 a few weeks ago, a game which still sits pretty at tenth place on this week's chart.Other new releases last week included portable games Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask and Moshi Monsters: Moshlings Theme Park, which debuted at eighth and ninth place, respectively. If you're wondering about Just Dance 4 ('cause how can you not on the UK charts?), it may have slipped two spots from fourth to sixth, but sales were actually up one percent. Dance Central 3 debuted in 39th place. Shimmy on past the break for the UK top ten.

We just met Dance Central 3 and this is crazy, but how about some DLC details, maybe? Harmonix tells us the downloadable content for the latest installment in its dance franchise will include Psy's international phenomenon, "Gangnam Style," and the inescapable "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen. The former was announced last week for Just Dance 4.Other artists in the DLC pipeline include Justin Bieber, One Direction and LMFAO. Harmonix notes the tracks include the "authentic choreography," so don't worry about missing out on some saddle dancing during "Gangnam Style." Specific release dates will be announced "in the coming months."

Microsoft confirmed today SmartGlass will launch alongside Windows 8 tablets on October 26, with Dance Central 3 and Forza Horizon among the first games to support it. The Xbox 360 app, which turns devices into secondary screens for the console, will be available for Windows 8 phones at launch on October 29. SmartGlass is expected to arrive on iOS and Android in 2013.SmartGlass is implemented in the latest Xbox dashboard update, which Microsoft tells us it's rolled out to 3 million users so far. Another wave will receive the dashboard update today, so more users should have access to SmartGlass when the companion app becomes available for Windows 8 tablets on Friday.

Dance Central 3 will be the first Xbox 360 game to support SmartGlass functionality, using Microsoft's tablet and smartphone connectivity to allow people to queue up new tracks for themselves or their friends. The "Party Time DJ" app allows someone using an iOS, Android, or Windows Phone 8 device to create playlists or simply select the next song in "Party Time" mode, Harmonix revealed to Engadget.Other functionality includes queuing up DLC to buy on the Xbox, changing difficulty, or tracking calories burned and progress toward weekly goals. Despite being tied to the new SmartGlass tech, the functions here, of facilitating DLC purchasing and tracking in-game progress, seem similar to those in the Facebook Rock Band World app.The app will not be available in time for tomorrow's launch; Harmonix did not provide a specific time, though Engadget speculates it will be close to Windows 8's October 26 launch. What Harmonix has provided, however, is Dance Central 3's full track list, which can be found after the break.

  • Dance Central 3 review: No pants dance

    by
    Garrett Martin

    10.15.2012

It's October, which means it's once again time to hook up your Kinect, take off your pants and play some Dance Central. Not that it's always wise to play games half-naked, especially ones that depend on jumping around in front of a camera, but pants will only slow you down and make you sweat even more than you already will. Wear gym shorts, if you must.Like leaf-peeping, apple-picking and umpire second-judging, Dance Central has become an autumn tradition. You can argue that it's grown a bit repetitive by this third installment, but repetition is the key to pop music. A steady beat, a memorable bass line and a chorus that'll itch in your brain until you hear it one more time are the rudiments of a hit. Can you attack a game for reflecting pop music when that's the very bedrock upon which it is built?%Gallery-157063%

  • Hands-on with the first SmartGlass app, Dance Central 3's Party Time DJ

    10.15.2012

Since getting outed just head of Microsoft's big reveal, Xbox 360's SmartGlass has been under wraps. When Xbox Live VP Marc Whitten officially introduced SmartGlass soon after at E3 2012, we learned a teensy bit more -- tablets and smartphones (Android, Windows Phone 8, and iOS, even) would get second-screen functionality via an upcoming free application -- and got some hands-on time with it. That application has yet to launch, but Dance Central 3's SmartGlass functionality is already here. Well, almost here -- the game becomes publicly available tomorrow, and the app won't launch for a few weeks still -- but we got our hands on Dance Central 3's SmartGlass companion app a bit early at a New York City review event last week. Being the first SmartGlass application to launch has its advantages, such as setting the bar. By no means is Dance Central 3's SmartGlass application a thorough, necessary accompaniment (for a game that already requires Kinect, that's probably a good choice), but it does add some neat side fun for friends waiting in the wings to get their respective grooves on. "Party Time DJ" allows friends -- employing their iOS, Droid, or WP8 tablet/smartphone, via the Xbox SmartGlass app -- to queue up the next song in the game's neverending "Party Time" mode, or create a playlist. They can also queue downloadable tracks to the Xbox 360 (which thankfully requires approval on the 360 prior to purchase), or swap difficulty settings. Sadly, though the opportunity for real-time griefing presents itself rather clearly here, developer Harmonix chose not to allow song-swapping or difficulty changes mid-song. "Because it would kill them," Harmonix rep Nick Chester told us.%Gallery-168336%

Ready to stomp out rhythmic crimes across several decades with some stylish dance police? Yes, Dance Central 3's bizarro storyline is ... well, bizarro, but that just makes us all the more interested in it. Several Harmonix devs are happy to explain the game's kooky story in the latest trailer, revealed alongside several tracks for this fall's DC entry (listed after the break). In total, there are nine new songs revealed, but let's not kid ourselves – the one we're concerned with is Daft Punk's "Around the World." The fact that we've had two Dance Central games without it is the real dance crime.

Harmonix announced today that Dance Central 3 will be available in the Americas on October 16, with Europe, Asia and Australia hitting the dance floor on October 19.Along with the release date, Harmonix also shared several tracks that will be included in the game inevitably activate our sense of empathic embarrassment when played. They include, but are not limited to: Backstreet Boys' "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)", Los Del Rio's "Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)", Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby," and the staple of bar mitzvah's and weddings everywhere: "Y.M.C.A." by The Village People.Thankfully, there will be less cringe-inducing tracks available too, and the ability to import tracks from the first two games. Harmonix tells us it hasn't announced an export price yet, but it's "looking to stay in the same ballpark" of $5. %Gallery-157063%
