In case you weren't aware, Apple's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/18/apple-q4-earnings-fall-short-of-expectations-28-3-billion-in-r/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">sold a whole lot of iPad 2s</a>, so aside from the couple of bezel color choices or adding a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/02/ipad-2-gets-a-smart-cover/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Smart Cover</a>, there's not much you can do to make your tablet stand out from the crowd. Well, now there's another option for the well-heeled gadget lover. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/StuartHughes/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Stuart Hughes</a> is back with another <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/14/stuart-hughes-strikes-again-with-worlds-most-expensive-diamond/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">custom gadget</a> for the economic elites called the iPad 2 Gold History Edition. It's got a solid gold backside, an Apple logo and home button crafted from a total of 65 flawless diamonds, plus a bezel crafted from Ammolite rock and slivers of thigh bone from a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Between all that ice and prehistoric bling, there won't be a problem picking this iPad out of a lineup. What is a problem (for most of us, anyway) is the price: <em>eight million dollars</em>. We dig the dino look and all, but that's an awfully hefty entrance fee -- we'd rather buy a stock slate and take a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/11/virgin-galactic-xcor-land-suborbital-contracts-with-nasa/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">few dozen trips</a> to the final frontier instead.

<p>
	<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Vertu/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Vertu's</a> first foray into the heady <em>modern</em> world of touchscreen phones has arrived, and it still looks <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/16/keepin-it-real-fake-part-lvi-plastic-vertu-semi-knockoff/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">KIRF-ably</a> premium. But what's surprising is that the Constellation's feature ensemble is actually half-decent -- at least relative to its predecessors. Wearing an exclusive 3.5-inch AMOLED screen coated entirely in sapphire crystal, the Constellation completes the look with a "ceramic pillow" (we'd call it an 'earpiece') and a black alligator skin back cover. Last seen skulking around <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/04/luxury-vertu-constellation-t-smartphone-now-sports-post-feudal-t/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Bluetooth product listings</a>, it's now back in the public spotlight with a confirmed eight megapixel camera, flanked by a twin LED flash and HSPA+ connections. There's no word on what OS this starlet is working with, though it's likely to be Symbian -- appropriate for all those oil barons, F1 drivers and other anachronistic rich types who can (send staff to) pick up their new Vertu from stores now.</p>

<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/computer+choppers/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Computer Choppers'</a> latest luxury overhaul is about as Cribs-worthy a laptop as we've ever laid our hard-working eyes on. Just like this <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/06/the-24-carat-gold-macbook-pro-with-diamond-studded-apple-logo/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">24-carat stunner</a> before it, the shiny setup gives something a little extra to that Apple logo, by way of Marilyn's favorite gems, but sets itself apart with the addition of a rather unexciting paisley pattern. If you're the type who flushes hundos, though, you can ditch the paisleys for your very own custom design. As is often the case with these things, the price isn't listed, but frankly, we'd hold out until they replace those black plastic chiclets with something fit for the Diamond Princess.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/24-carat-gold-macbook-pro/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">24-carat gold MacBook Pro</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/24-carat-gold-macbook-pro/4511928?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/graphic-plating1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/24-carat-gold-macbook-pro/4511930?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/graphic-plating2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/24-carat-gold-macbook-pro/4511932?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/graphic-plating3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/24-carat-gold-macbook-pro/4511933?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/graphic-plating4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/24-carat-gold-macbook-pro/4511935?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/graphic-plating5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div>

Rich people in poor countries have had to make some terrible sacrifices when choosing a gem-encrusted handset. They've generally shopped at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/vertu/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Vertu</a>, the Nokia-owned go-to company for such ostentatious purchases, but its range of models has lacked even the most basic smartphone functionality. Now though, a Vertu Constellation T has cropped up at the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/bluetooth+sig/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Bluetooth SIG</a> with distinctly forward-looking specs: a 3.5-inch 640 x 360 AMOLED touchscreen, eight megapixel shooter with twin LED flash, 32GB of onboard storage and an HSPA+ modem. You'll find some low-res pics after the break, but we fear they might not look expensive enough -- bear in mind that Vertu devices fetch an average of $7,000, rising to $27,000 for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/19/how-much-will-a-gold-vertu-constellation-quest-set-you-back-abo/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">ultimate provocation</a> of the masses.

If you thought Kim Kardashian's engagement ring was a ridiculous rock, you haven't seen the ludicrously <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/15/gresso-flaunts-30-000-white-iphone-4-holds-more-ice-than-a-ska/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">large diamond</a> planet, J1719-1438. Scientists at the Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne recently spotted this celestial body that's so dense, it's believed to be crystalline carbon -- i.e. a ginormous diamond similar in size to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/05/nasas-solar-powered-juno-mission-heads-to-jupiter-today-orbite/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Jupiter</a>. Since the '60s, astrophysicists like Marc Kuchner have theorized that carbon-heavy stars can burn out, crystallize and form diamonds under the right pressure. Supporting the idea, a white dwarf star spotted in 1992, BPM 37093, had cooled and crystallized over the course of 12 years -- even copping the nickname "Lucy" after the Beatles jam. Although astronomers in Australia, Britain and Hawaii have all identified the newly spotted precious planet J1719-1438, they are still unsure if the crystallized carbon rock will be all sparkly mountains up close -- dashing the hopes and dreams of material girls everywhere.

	Sure, you probably waited longer than you should have to get the elusive <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/27/white-iphone-4-releases-tomorrow-finally/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">white iPhone 4</a>. But, you know what's better than a boring regular model? One with diamonds, crystals and pearls... of course! Known for its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/30/gresso-gussies-up-iphone-4-with-rare-wooden-veneer/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">ridiculous</a> custom mobile devices, Gresso may force you to refinance your house <em>and</em> hock a kidney to afford its latest creation, the Lady Blanche. A solid diamond-coated mineral glass backing, three independent Swiss clocks and pearl dials replace the usual body on this iced-out iPhone. If the $30k diamond model is a bit out of your price range, the much more affordable <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/swarovski/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Swarovski</a> crystal version will only set you back 7,000 bones. Release details are unclear at this point, but when they drop you better act fast -- only 150 of these gems will be available. Heck, if you have that kind of cash lying around, just get the salesman to throw in one of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/29/gresso-classies-up-the-ipad-with-18k-gold-logo-and-ancient-wood/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">these</a> for your iPad, too.</div>

	<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/21/vertu-signature-precious-is-awash-in-sea-of-sapphire-and-regre/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/06/vertu-signature-precious.jpg" style="border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; margin: 4px;" /></a></div>
It may not feature GPS, an accelerometer, or even a camera, but if you've run out of disposable items to encrust with jewels, then Vertu's Precious -- the latest revision to its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/28/vertu-finally-prepping-3g-signature/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">aging Signature lineup</a> -- may be the mobile phone for you. While its basic array of quadband GSM, 2100 / 850 MHz 3G, Bluetooth and WiFi may seem a touch modest, varieties come slathered in platinum, three types of gold (yellow, white and red), leather, ceramic, and enough jewels to make Her Majesty blush. Its face, known as the "sea of sapphire," is mostly obscured (save for the OLED display), but you high rollers can take comfort knowing it spent more than two weeks in a 2000&deg;C oven to appease your discerning taste. Also hidden are 4.75 carats of ruby bearings, which are said to give the keys a frictionless, satisfying click. The ring tones are exclusive compositions by Dario Marianelli and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra -- though we were bigger fans before they sold out. For a quick glimpse of how the Precious comes together gem by gem, just follow the break. There's no word on pricing or availability, but if you're considering putting up your first born as collateral, you might want to reconsider this cringe-worthy creation.<br />
<br />
[Thanks, Radi]

We've already established that if you're filthy rich, you probably don't want the same cell phone as common folk. No, if you're looking for something higher end, you'll probably end up talking to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/StuartHughes/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Stuart Hughes</a>, who customizes electronics by plating them in gold and diamonds. We've already seen his work on a $20,000 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/iPhone4/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">iPhone 4</a>, but his latest achievement is downright ridiculous. Called the "world's most expensive phone" (we'll see how long that lasts), Hughes made two identical models for an Australian client. Each handset includes over 500 diamonds and totals over 100 karats, and comes in its own special granite box. Its total cost is &pound;5 million -- nearly 8 million dollars. Just don't bother crying when you leave it on the seat of a cab.

At last, a sign that we're advancing from our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/22/mac-portable-gets-a-20th-anniversary-vivisection/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">caveman heritage</a> into a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/17/ikeas-kitchen-of-the-future-3d-food-printing-mood-lighting-v/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">brave new world</a>. Gone are the days of rough-hewn blades, the world of modernity does its cutting with "plasma-sharpened" implements polished off with a layer of synthetic, industrial-grade diamonds. Okay, we're not <em>quite</em> there yet, but we're en route, thanks to a small German outfit named GFD, which has recently debuted a diamond-tipped, tungsten carbide razor blade that promises to retain its sharpness 1,000 times as long as regular steel and to be precise enough to slice a human hair in half. Hell, that latter bit isn't even a promise, it's a fact, which you can verify in the video after the break. GFD is looking for a manufacturing partner to bring this ingenious prototype to market, and given its years of experience applying the technology to industrial uses, we reckon it has enough of a pedigree to stand a decent chance of success.

When you make it your business to deliver <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/30/gresso-gussies-up-iphone-4-with-rare-wooden-veneer/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">outlandish new looks</a> for mobile telephony, it can sometimes be a challenge to just outdo your last effort. So <a href="http://www.engadget.com/all/gresso?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Gresso</a>'s decided the only way forward is to collect <em>all</em> the fine materials it had lying around -- black diamonds, pure gold, diamond-cut sapphire crystals, and 200-year old African Blackwood -- sprinkle them atop an otherwise nondescript featurephone, and slap on the spectacular price tag of $1,000,000. Only three Jackpots are being made, while there'll be a Las Vegas handset without the black diamonds and sapphires for the more mundanely rich among us, priced at $20,000. Oh Gresso, just one tip: next time, try to align your earpiece to your fancy designs, we hear wealthy folks appreciate some attention to detail.

It's a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/15/buckingham-palace-orders-100-samsung-flat-panels-to-watch-uks-t/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">tough life</a> being a monarch nowadays. The halcyon times of extravagant debauchery and debauched extravagance are all but over, having been replaced by expectations of stoicism and perfectly measured hand waving. Trying to subvert this trend of royals boring us to tears, Britain's Queen has come out with a pair of Q-emblazoned 3D glasses that frankly redefine the way we look upon bling. Articulated with some good old <a href="http://www.engadget.com/all/swarovskicrystals?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Swarovski crystals</a>, the spectacular spectacles were thought up by her majesty's dresser, Angela Kelly, and were brought out during a state visit to Toronto's Pinewood Studios. Now the only question left is which gangster rapper will try to outdo Queenie from the block?

<div style="text-align: left;">Looking for something a bit more eye-catching than a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/product/iphone-4?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">iPhone 4</a> with a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/30/gresso-gussies-up-iphone-4-with-rare-wooden-veneer/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">wooden veneer</a>? Then it looks like you can once again thank <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/stuarthughes?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Stuart Hughes</a> for throwing any subtlety to the wind and going all out with the so-called iPhone 4 Diamond Edition. As you can see, not only does the phone pack a smattering of diamonds (including a bedazzled Apple logo), but it's a white iPhone 4 (32GB, naturally), and unlocked for good measure. Of course, there's no guarantees you'll actually get it before white iPhone 4s become commonplace, but we're pretty sure this is $20,000 well spent either way.</div>

Seeing as how the iPhone's exclusivity status <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/25/iphone-to-be-sold-by-tesco-in-the-uk-hemorrhages-cachet/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">has been slipping</a>, it was inevitable that the bourgeoisie would invent a new way to distinguish themselves from the lowly masses. Enter a designer by the name of Stuart Hughes, already expertly familiar with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/10/the-solid-gold-vertu-boucheron-150-makes-us-hate-humanity/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">slapping precious metals</a> onto <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/06/gold-and-diamond-covered-michael-jackson-phone-fashionably-late/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">slightly less precious</a> mobile phones. He classes up a 3GS handset with a 22 carat solid gold body, which he then sprinkles with no less than 190 diamonds. And just to make sure none of the riff raff can get their hands on it, this creation is priced at &pound;1.92 million ($3.2 million), which places it precisely &pound;1.92 million outside our budget. Completing the, erm, value proposition is a storage chest cut from a single block of granite, which you may peep after the break.

<div align="left">Don't get us wrong -- we're all in favor of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/18/gilded-diamond-encrusted-earphones-go-for-3-499/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">purposeless</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/20/blinged-out-ipod-shuffle-doesnt-come-cheap/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">ostentatious</a>, and classless displays of wealth -- but we prefer it to be a little less... tacky? German manufacturer High End PCs have the high end part down pat -- they'll dip your desktop in all manners of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/gold/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">gold</a> (up to 24 karat!), cubic zirconia and of course, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/diamonds/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">diamonds</a>. Now, we don't have any specs on these puppies -- though we suspect performance is beside the point. Our only real qualm with the product is that it looks like a Kleenex box from Don Johnson's bathroom in 1986. But, if you have a stack of money hanging around and you just can't be bothered to think of really awesome things to do with it, Gaiser's PCs start from about $8,000 and run up to around $33,000. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.ohgizmo.com/2009/08/07/gaiser-high-end-pcs-can-cost-more-than-a-new-car/">Oh! Nokia's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/e71/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">E71</a> looks perfectly elegant in its Espoo-sourced attire, but there's nothing that can't be made more gorgeous / gaudy with diamonds. Enter Continental Mobiles, which makes its ends by shoving all sorts of glitz and glam onto handsets and charging a ridiculous price. The phone you see above is doused with an undisclosed amount of VS1 quality diamonds, and thus, it'll run you a staggering &pound;5,999 ($9,546). 'Course, it <em>is</em> hand-crafted in England, but you'll have to provide your own bodyguard when taking it to the streets.<br /><br />[Thanks, Sierra]

<div align="center"><a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/3451567/NEEDS-PIX-Most-expensive-earphones-on-sale-for-3500.html"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/11/11-17-08-bling_earphones_11.jpg?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget" alt="" /></a><br /></div>
We've definitely seen more expensive <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/10/deos-offers-up-60-000-diamond-encrusted-ipod-earphone-covers/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">earphone covers</a> in our day, but these are certainly amongst the most pricey 'buds out there. A single set of these Casa Gi-designed earbuds are currently being sold in Bristol for &pound;3,499 ($5,253), and all that money goes towards 59 diamonds (per bud) and an 18-carat gold coating. Quite frankly, we tend to feel that these are pretty garish, but we've no doubt whatsoever that <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/11/10/131k-softbank-823sh-tiffany-handset-sells-out-in-three-days/">someone</a>, somewhere will make the trip over and snatch 'em up. 'Course, we can't say how long they'll remain safely lodged in the owners ears given the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/29/british-govt-to-hit-up-apple-sony-for-crime-resistant-gadgets/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">gadget crime rate</a> in Britain, but we get the feeling these won't really be used for casual listening, anyway.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/news.phtml/19253/20277/casa-gi-pound3500-expensive-earphones.phtml">Pocket-lint</a>]

Recession? What <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/economy/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">recession</a>? While many in this world are grumbling about a so-called weakened economy, at least eight individuals aren't hurtin' at all. Or, at least they aren't acting like it. The (very) limited edition <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/01/softbank-823sh-tiffany-537-diamonds-for-131k/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">Softbank 823SH Tiffany</a>, which was offered up for &yen;13 million, has sold out in just three days, proving once again that there is simply nothing too expensive for at least some folks to buy. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.textually.org/textually/archives/2008/11/021708.htm">textually</a>]

Make no mistake, this whole "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/26/economic-madness-could-hurt-handset-sales-sales-of-everything-e/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">economic crisis</a>" deal isn't affecting everyone, and we've all ideas the limited run of this here handset will be claimed in no time flat. Via a partnership between Japan's Softbank Mobile and New York's Tiffany &amp; Co, just ten of the Softbank 823SH Tiffany mobiles will be made available for those with the requisite cash. Aside from making / receiving calls, this obscenely luxurious device will boast 537 diamonds representing a total weight of 18.34 carats. The pain? Just &yen;13 million, or slightly north of $131,000. Say, wonder if they'll throw in a car charger if you buy two?<br /><br />[Thanks, Marko]

Maria Sharapova has already had her greatness <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/09/13/peepin-the-maria-sharapova-razr/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">spread over</a> a number of Motorola <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/12/15/maria-sharapovas-motorola-m1000-sold-for-7-500-usd/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">handsets</a>, but now the tennis queen is partnering up with long-time associate Canon in order to make five lucky individuals extraordinarily happy. As part of an elaborate marketing scheme, Canon and Maria (but mostly Canon) are cranking up a contest in which five Canon <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/16/canons-powershot-sd1100-is-gets-reviewed/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">PowerShot SD1100 IS</a>'s are given away. But these aren't just <em>any</em> SD1100 ISs -- these are <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/18/canon-to-auction-10-diamond-clad-digital-elphs-for-the-red-cross/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">diamond-encrusted</a> editions worth around $12,000 apiece. No word on whether Maria will actually touch the cameras before they're shipped out, but a boy can dream.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.luxist.com/2008/08/17/maria-sharapova-and-canon-to-give-away-diamond-cameras/">Luxist</a>]

Okay, we'd like to issue a retraction here. That Nokia 8800 we called "diamond-studded" <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/06/nokias-8800-outdoes-itself-again-with-diamond-studded-edition/?utm_source=Feed_Classic&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Engadget">earlier this month</a> is actually just "diamond-accented." <em>This</em>, however, is patently studded. Crafted by designer Peter Aloisson, the 8800 Arte Pink is quite literally covered in 18-karat white gold and encrusted with over 680 pink and white diamonds. Best of all, the totally obtainable handset is being offered now to the peons of the world for a mere &euro;85,000 ($131,673). A bona fide bargain, we tell ya.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2008/06/nokia_8800_arte_pink.html">Ubergizmo</a>]
