Digital Foci's Photo Book displays RAW files, at home and in the wild
As Marlin Perkins used to remind us on Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, naturalists have observed as many variations of the common frameus digitalus in nature as they have mammals of the felidae family. We've seen digiframes that are actually routers, digiframes that scan your old non-digital snapshots, and (sadly) digiframes that come pre-infected with a Trojan Horse or two. Doing its part for biodiversity, Digital Foci is back with what it calls a "Photo Book" -- another way of saying that they've put a digital photo frame in a "soft leather-like case," making for "a convenient, elegant photo display." The one interesting development here is support for RAW images -- otherwise, this is just another $189 / 8-inch / 800 x 600 / 4GB digiframe. In addition to all that, this guy supports the usual bevy of file formats (JPEG, BMP, TIFF, GIF, MP3, AAC, WMA, MJPEG, MPEG-1, MPEG-4 SP) and boasts 2.5 hours of battery life. Digital Foci introduces 160GB Picture Porter 35 photo manager
Digital Foci has been cluttering up the market with ho hum digiframes for years now, but it's finally pumping out a respectable photo manager in the Picture Porter 35. The above pictured device comes with a 160GB internal hard drive, a 3.5-inch LCD monitor, a multi-format card reader and a promise of being able to transfer 1GB of data in around 120 seconds. Users can also tap into the USB-host functionality in order to connect an external HDD for data access, and there's also a built-in speaker, audio recorder (with an integrated mic) and audio / video outputs. No mention of a price, but it should be on display for the world to see at CES next week.
Digital Foci's Photo Safe II takes the load off of your flash card
Digital Foci didn't go out of its way to drastically redesign the original Photo Safe, but we 'spose that's alright in the grand scheme of things. Essentially, the Photo Safe II picks up where its predecessor left off by including a multicard reader (now with 100% more MS Duo and miniSD support) which automatically transfers photos from your flash card onto the built-in 80GB / 160GB hard drive. The integrated display tells you at a glance how much space is remaining and how much battery life is left, though it won't show your stored photos in slideshow (or any other) fashion. Digital Foci ships Image Moments 8 digiframe: for mom (or mom's mom)
Call it a hunch, but we wouldn't be surprised one iota if you received some form of digital photo frame for Mother's Day. If you're a mother, that is. Digital Foci is sure doing its best to sway your kid's purchasing decision by shipping its Image Moments 8 just in time. If you'll recall, this one packs a respectable 450MB of internal memory, an 8-inch LED-backlit SVGA (800 x 600) display with a 500:1 contrast ratio, a multicard reader that handles CF, SD, SDHC, MMC, Memory Stick, MS Pro, MS Duo, MS Pro Duo and xD formats and an obligatory USB port, too. There's even a set of integrated speakers and an audio output for placing a nice slow jam behind those honeymoon snaps. Digital Foci reveals 1.5 and 2.8-inch OLED Pocket Albums
Not even a week after rolling out a trio of new digital photo frames, Digital Foci is hitting back with a duo of new ones -- 'cept, these won't exactly do much good on your countertop. Rather, the 1.5- and 2.8-inch OLED Pocket Albums feel much more at home in your pocket / purse, and the former even comes with a keychain attachment. The 1.5-incher sports a 128 x 128 resolution display, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 32MB of internal memory, while the 2.8-inch iteration (shown after the jump) packs a 320 x 240 resolution screen, 10,000:1 contrast ratio and a currently undisclosed amount of storage. As expected, the pair runs on a rechargeable battery and can be juiced up via an AC outlet or a spare USB port. If you're overwhelmed by the cuteness, fret not -- you've got until April to convince yourself that they aren't worth the $49.95 / $99.95 asking prices.
Digital Foci rolling out trio of new digital photo frames
Some nine months after Digital Foci unveiled the IMT-062, the firm is gearing up for CES 2008 with a trio of newcomers (entire family shown). Up first is the revamped Image Moments 6 (IMT-063), which sports a 5.7-inch 640 x 480 LED-backlit panel, a two-tone polished chrome finish and built-in stereo speakers. Moving on up, we've got the Image Moments 8 (IMT-083), which ups the ante with a 800 x 600 resolution panel and a 500:1 contrast ratio, and just in case that's not enough screen real estate for you, there's the 15-inch IMT-153, which packs a XGA (1,024 x 768) resolution, 700:1 contrast ratio, an AV input, interchangeable frame / mat and VESA mountability. The trifecta includes 200MB of storage, USB 2.0 connectivity and a multicard reader that handles a smorgasbord of formats, and all three should be available in March for $149, $199 and $399, respectively.
Digital Foci stuffs a digiframe into a keychain
Nah, this isn't the first pocket-friendly digiframe we've seen, but for those who prefer keychains over wallets, it's not a half bad option. Digital Foci's Pocket Album features a 1.5-inch 128 x 128 resolution color screen, nine hours of battery life, manual / automatic scroll modes and OS X / Windows compatibility. Furthermore, users can recharge the unit with a simple USB cable, and there's even a built-in clock if you happen to forget your wristwatch. Unfortunately, there's only 8MB of internal storage, but then again, what did you expect for just $39.95?[Via Gearlog]
Digital Foci's Photo Safe compact storage for photogs
Digital Foci is back with another digital photo storage solution for photographers. This time, instead of that big LCD found on their own Picture Porter and similar photo previewing/storage devices from Aigo, Epson, and Canon, Digital Foci keeps the, uh, focus on compact portability. The new Photo Safe line-up comes in 40/80/120GB capacities and features a user-replaceable Li-Ion battery that can be recharged when slung from either USB or the mains. Doubtful they'll match the performance of the NextoCF Ultra but they easily best it in price: starting at just $139 when the Photo Safe ships next month, April. [Via AVING]
Digital Foci's Picture Porter Elite photo viewer / PMP
Hot on the heels of MediaGear's HD2GO is yet another photo viewer / PMP, but with 40GB or 80GB hard drive options, the Picture Porter Elite is more akin to Epson's P-4000 line of capcious convergence devices. Manufactured by Digital Foci, the USB 2.0-enabled PPE-360 features a 3.6-inch screen (only QVGA, though -- Epson gives you VGA on its models), line-in recording, PictBridge printing support, and video out for displaying your pics and vids on a regular TV. Supported memory card formats include Compact Flash I / II, MicroDrive, SD / MMC, and Memory Stick (xD, miniSD, and MS Duo cards work with an adapter), while the compatible file types include JPEG, TIFF, GIF, and RAW (image), MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV (audio), and MPEG-1/4, AVI, MOV, and WMV9 (video).
