Gather round everyone, while you may have gotten used to accessing Engadget via the browser or any one of our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/EngadgetApp/">mobile apps</a>, starting today we're ready to come home in one more way: on your TV. Launching on Boxee, Roku, Yahoo! Widgets and DivX is a new AOL HD package which includes a channel full of our videos ready for viewing on big screens. This way, when you want to kick back and enjoy a new hands-on video, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/show">The Engadget Show</a> or any of our other content it's only as far away as your remote control, which is probably also your phone, PC or tablet. There's plenty more to come in the future -- we'll figure out an in-app <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/screengrabs">Screen Grabs</a> submission tool somehow -- but for now we're happy to have an official outlet on some of the most widely available connected TV platforms out there. The AOL HD app will begin showing up today, check out the gallery for a few screenshots of us on each of the platforms.<br />

Circuit City's ill-fated video rental alternative, DIVX (not DivX), went belly up over a decade ago but <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/12/its-official-nortel-patents-sale-approved-in-us-and-canada/">just like Nortel</a>, now that its parent company is <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/06/all-circuit-city-stores-closing-permanently-on-march-8th/">belly-up</a> its patents may still have some value. In case you've forgotten, the DIVX scheme offered discs similar to DVDs that were initially viewable for 48 hours, but could be activated for more time over a phone line. Now, the Circuit City Stores Inc. Liquidating Trust has entered into an agreement to sell the remaining patents to Imaging Transfer Co., but not before opening the sale to others in an auction, scheduled to take place August 16th. We're not sure what can be done with a bundle of patents covering compression, watermarking and other digital media technologies, but if you do and have more than $750k to offer, you'll want to contact Streambank LLC right away.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/16/circuit-city-puts-divx-patents-up-for-sale-anyone-in-need-of-a/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Circuit City puts DIVX patents up for sale, anyone in need of a failed disc format?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/16/circuit-city-puts-divx-patents-up-for-sale-anyone-in-need-of-a/">Circuit City puts DIVX patents up for sale, anyone in need of a failed disc format?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 16 Jul 2011 14:49:00 EST. Look at what one curious tipster stumbled upon while thumbing through Best Buy's mobile app -- it's the five-inch version of Samsung's soon to be released <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/14/samsung-galaxy-s-wifi-5-0-hands-on-video/">Galaxy Player</a>. The PMP is, for most intents and purposes, the Galaxy S handset devoid of that pesky 3G and calling functionality -- in fact, it's still known as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/01/samsungs-galaxy-s-wifi-4-0-and-5-0-now-rolling-out-to-countries/">Galaxy S WiFi</a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/01/samsungs-galaxy-s-wifi-4-0-and-5-0-now-rolling-out-to-countries/"> </a>elsewhere in the world. Priced at $270, according to the app, the 8GB touchscreen player has two cameras (a VGA on the front and and 3.0 megapixel on the rear), a microSD slot, and an FM tuner. Back in March, we heard that the music player would be hitting our shores <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/16/samsung-galaxy-player-4-and-5-hit-the-us-this-spring/">this spring</a>, between this and its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/31/galaxy-player-5-stops-by-the-fcc-only-takes-the-easy-tests/">FCC appearance</a> a couple of months back, we've got our fingers crossed that it will still make it in under the wire.<br />

Yes, tabletphones are coming back! Joining the eccentric <a href="http://mobile.engadget.com/2010/11/22/dell-streak-android-2-2-froyo-update-review/">Dell Streak 5</a> is Pantech's conveniently named Vega No.5 (or IM-T100K), a 5-inch Android 2.3.3 smartphone powered by Qualcomm's brawny dual-core 1.5GHz MSM8660. Apart from the extra 0.7 inches of screen size, what we have here is essentially the same package as the <a href="http://mobile.engadget.com/2011/05/18/pantech-cooks-up-worlds-first-1-5-ghz-dual-core-phone-tablet-i/">Vega Racer</a>: 800 x 480 LCD, 8 megapixel 1080p camera, front-facing camera, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 16GB of memory, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, and 14.4Mbps HSPA+ connectivity. No word on international availability, but expect this slate to hit the shops in Korea later this month. Hands-on video after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/24/pantech-vega-no-5-bringing-sexy-back-to-tabletphones-packs-1-5g/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pantech Vega No.5 bringing sexy back to tabletphones, packs 1.5GHz dual-core chip</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/24/pantech-vega-no-5-bringing-sexy-back-to-tabletphones-packs-1-5g/">Pantech Vega No.5 bringing sexy back to tabletphones, packs 1.5GHz dual-core chip</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 24 May 2011 06:54:00 EST. While Samsung has yet to announce an actual date for its new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/16/samsung-galaxy-player-4-and-5-hit-the-us-this-spring/">Galaxy Players</a> in the US, their international counterparts are already heading towards other parts of the world for a head start. The Galaxy S WiFi 4.0 is said to be debuting in Russia followed by other countries, whereas its 5.0 sibling will be launched in Switzerland. In terms of specs, not much has changed since we last <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/14/samsung-galaxy-s-wifi-5-0-hands-on-video/">saw</a> these 1GHz, DivX-friendly Android PMPs, and yes, they'll still be shipped with Froyo "with a possibility to upgrade to 2.3 Gingerbread." As always, we'll let you folks know when we eventually find out about the US launch (if <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/samsung%2Capple%2Clawsuit">ever</a>), though to be frank, we'd rather just go for the beefier <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/galaxy+s+ii">Galaxy S II</a> instead.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/01/samsungs-galaxy-s-wifi-4-0-and-5-0-now-rolling-out-to-countries/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung's Galaxy S WiFi 4.0 and 5.0 now rolling out to countries far away from you</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/01/samsungs-galaxy-s-wifi-4-0-and-5-0-now-rolling-out-to-countries/">Samsung's Galaxy S WiFi 4.0 and 5.0 now rolling out to countries far away from you</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 01 May 2011 23:20:00 EST. The company has just announced a "definitive agreement" to acquire <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/sonicsolutions">Sonic Solutions</a> in a deal valued at $720 million. Among other things, Sonic owns <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/roxionow">RoxioNow</a> (the service <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2010/04/22/cinemanow-switches-to-roxionow-we-just-want-to-watch-our-movies/">formally known</a> as CinemaNow), which will give Rovi access to over 10,000 movies and TV shows, and Sonic also just acquired DivX <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/02/sonic-acquires-divx-to-expand-online-movie-delivery-options-sha/">earlier this year</a>, which Rovi points out has a presence on more than 350 million consumer electronics devices. Head on past the break for the official press release, and look for the deal to close sometime in the first quarter of next year if all goes according to plan.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/23/rovi-announces-agreement-to-acquire-sonic-solutions-for-720-mil/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rovi announces agreement to acquire Sonic Solutions for $720 million</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/23/rovi-announces-agreement-to-acquire-sonic-solutions-for-720-mil/">Rovi announces agreement to acquire Sonic Solutions for $720 million</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 23 Dec 2010 16:51:00 EST. The possibilities <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/14/wi-fi-direct-enabling-p2p-communications-amongst-wifi-wares-sca/">teased</a> in 2009 by Wi-Fi Direct have probably kept Bluetooth up at night, and we're sure the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/25/wi-fi-direct-certification-begins-today-device-to-device-transm/">commencement of device certification</a> last month hasn't helped, either. Now the LG BD960 has emerged as the first Blu-ray player on the Wi-Fi Direct certification list, hinting direct P2P communication in our home theaters among WiFi devices (without the need for a routing middleman) could soon go from fiction to fact. Unfortunately, mum's still the word on shipping and pricing. The mere chance however that the player could stream content to any other WiFi-equipped device -- Direct certified or not -- is a big enough deal to give our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/media+streamers">dedicated media streamers</a> Defarge-like glances already. Particularly, if the BD960 comes packed with features similar its suspected predecessor the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/19/lgs-wifi-enabled-divx-friendly-bd390-blu-ray-player-now-shippi/">LG-BD390</a>, which can stream both Netflix, Vudu, and DLNA network content, as well as play DivX HD 1080p content. Until more details surface though, we'll simply have to keep reminding our poor <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/03/samsung-galaxy-s-first-smartphone-to-be-wi-fi-direct-certified/">Galaxy S</a> that it isn't destined to be alone in this cold, cruel world forever.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/24/lg-bd690-is-the-first-blu-ray-player-certified-for-wi-fi-direct/">LG BD690 is the first Blu-ray player certified for Wi-Fi Direct, keeps Bluetooth paranoid</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 24 Nov 2010 02:12:00 EST. We've already lost count of all the internet TV platforms that launched this fall, but that hasn't stopped <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/divx">DivX</a> (even after the company was <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/02/sonic-acquires-divx-to-expand-online-movie-delivery-options-sha/">recently purchased</a>) from throwing its hat into the ring by <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/07/divx-unveils-its-new-form-as-online-video-to-tv-enabler/">officially launching as a streaming internet video front end</a> on several LG Blu-ray players. Available in the latest BD.8.31.317.C firmware update for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/06/new-lg-bd590-blu-ray-players-sports-a-250gb-hard-drive/">BD550/BD570/BD590</a> line, DivX TV lets users browse internet shows (including The Engadget Show, Revision3 and others -- full list and a quick introduction video follow after the break) and create customized channels of the content they want to watch. We'll wait and see if DivX TV pops up on any other hardware, but at least LG owners <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/01/appletv-vs-the-competition-how-does-it-stack-up/">can check off yet another source of videos</a> after Netflix, VUDU, CinemaNow, YouTube and of course, Blu-ray discs.<br />

What was merely an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/23/cowon-x7-materializes-from-the-ether-into-a-real-life-fcc-applic/">indistinct outline</a> in August is today a bona fide retail product. Cowon has made its X7 PMP official over in South Korea, letting us take a gander at the spec sheet if not necessarily buy one just yet. A 4.3-inch touchscreen takes center stage, backed by up to 160GB of hard drive storage and a battery rated to last for 103 hours of music or 10 hours of video playback. An FM radio tuner, built-in speaker, and Bluetooth chip fill out the "retro modern" body, while the software front reveals DivX-encoded video compatibility and a smattering of your usual note-taking and utility apps. The standard 160GB model is going on sale for 339,000 KRW ($304), or if you're a globetrotter and need a set of preinstalled dictionaries, it'll set you back 379,000 KRW ($340). There's no word on US availability just yet, but this thing didn't go through the chore of getting certified with the FCC for nothing.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/08/cowon-x7-debuts-in-home-market-of-korea-with-4-3-inch-screen-am/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cowon X7 debuts in home market of Korea with 4.3-inch screen, American ambitions</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/08/cowon-x7-debuts-in-home-market-of-korea-with-4-3-inch-screen-am/">Cowon X7 debuts in home market of Korea with 4.3-inch screen, American ambitions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 08 Oct 2010 04:57:00 EST. Lots of companies are moving their focus to more capable devices, but <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> is still here to fulfill your simple media playback needs with a few new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/pmp">PMPs</a>. First is the YP-Q3, shown above, a compact and stylish player with support for plenty of formats (H.264, WMV, Xvid, MP3, OGG, etc.) and also packing an FM receiver and voice recorder. No word on pricing or capacity, but it will be offered in a variety of colors and has a highly-customizable UI, shown in the oontzy video after the break. Then there's the rather more compact YP-U6 MP3 stick, pictured after the break with its wee display that can show either the currently playing track or, apparently, how many calories you've burned -- presumably through some accelerometer trickery. No price on this one either, but we expect to be getting some quality time with both at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ifa">IFA</a> in very short order.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/01/samsung-is-still-down-with-pmp-announces-yp-q3-and-yp-u6-player/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung is still down with PMP, announces YP-Q3 and YP-U6 players (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/01/samsung-is-still-down-with-pmp-announces-yp-q3-and-yp-u6-player/">Samsung is still down with PMP, announces YP-Q3 and YP-U6 players (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 01 Sep 2010 10:34:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">We were convinced the apocalypse was nigh earlier this month after learning Apple would allow playback of lowly video formats like <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/xvid">Xvid</a> on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/03/apple-ipad-review/">iPad</a> via the approved <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/09/ipad-gets-xvid-avi-video-playback-with-cinexplayer-app-on-itunes/">CineXPlayer</a> app. <em>Mobiputing's</em> review, however, indicates that the software has trouble loading anything but Xvid and DivX files, which even then often don't play. App Store reviewers appear to have had better results with it, giving it an average of four and half stars -- though close to 32 percent or 433 reviewers did only rate it as one or two. To it's credit, though, CineXPlayer does warn users that not all Xvid files may play and requests that any problems be submitted to their support contact to address. <div style="text-align: left;">Nipping at the heels of announcements by <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/23/panasonic-prices-dates-full-3d-plasma-lineup-65-inches-for/">Panasonic</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/20/samsung-new-plasmas-will-do-3d-for-much-cheaper-maybe-under-1/">Samsung</a>, LG has just revealed that its first batch of 600Hz active-shutter 3D Plasmas, the 50" 50PX950 and 60" 60PX950, will soon be available in Korea for the price of $2500 and $4200, respectively. Measuring a svelte 1.2 inches wide, these sets will feature DLNA support, an USB port, and access web content from sources like YouTube and Picasa. Of course for those who can't stomach the agony of needing a physical ethernet or USB cable to access media, the Art Cinema DP1 WiFi multimedia player also announced in tandem by LG should spare you. Likened to a set-top <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=divX+box&amp;invocationType=wl-gadget">DivX box</a> minus the wires -- though it looks more like a blade in our opinion, the device will stream online content from the usual suspects as well as a laundry list of video files formats stored on your network, even in 1080p. Pricing and release details on this accessory, however, are still anyone's guess, and by the stern look on that model's face, mum's the word. Check out more images of the gear below. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-art-cinema-dp1-media-streamer/">LG Art Cinema DP1 Media Streamer</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-art-cinema-dp1-media-streamer/#3211112"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/hd.engadget.com/media/2010/07/4829100738cc5fda2e67b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="LG Art Cinema DP1 Media Streamer 4" title="LG Art Cinema DP1 Media Streamer 4" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-art-cinema-dp1-media-streamer/#3211109"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/hd.engadget.com/media/2010/07/4828323291503fcd3da2b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="LG Art Cinema DP1 Media Streamer 1" title="LG Art Cinema DP1 Media Streamer 1" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-art-cinema-dp1-media-streamer/#3211110"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/hd.engadget.com/media/2010/07/48284903778c8c152788b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="LG Art Cinema DP1 Media Streamer 2" title="LG Art Cinema DP1 Media Streamer 2" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-art-cinema-dp1-media-streamer/#3211115"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/hd.engadget.com/media/2010/07/482910635251361cbfabb_thumbnail.jpg" alt="LG Art Cinema DP1 Media Streamer 7" title="LG Art Cinema DP1 Media Streamer 7" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-art-cinema-dp1-media-streamer/#3211114"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/hd.engadget.com/media/2010/07/48291061149f90657282b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="LG Art Cinema DP1 Media Streamer 6" title="LG Art Cinema DP1 Media Streamer 6" /></a></div> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-3d-px950-series-plasma-hd-tvs/">LG 3D PX950 Series Plasma HD TVs</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-3d-px950-series-plasma-hd-tvs/#3211103"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/hd.engadget.com/media/2010/07/4820834446e99693552db_thumbnail.jpg" alt="LG PX950 PDP 3D HD TV Series 2" title="LG PX950 PDP 3D HD TV Series 2" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-3d-px950-series-plasma-hd-tvs/#3211104"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/hd.engadget.com/media/2010/07/4820834502aa293913f1b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="LG PX950 PDP 3D HD TV Series 3" title="LG PX950 PDP 3D HD TV Series 3" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-3d-px950-series-plasma-hd-tvs/#3211102"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/hd.engadget.com/media/2010/07/48202138458559edbf21b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="LG PX950 PDP 3D HD TV Series 1" title="LG PX950 PDP 3D HD TV Series 1" /></a></div><br />

Just because Sonic shifted its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/03/best-buy-partnering-with-cinemanow-to-stream-first-run-dvds-to-a/">CinemaNow name into the care of Best Buy,</a> don't think it's taking a break from working digital movie delivery options into every device it can. To that end it's purchased DivX, formerly a name you knew only as an illegal download enabling codec, but is now a legitimate enterprise that has agreements with major movie studios and more than 150 consumer electronics manufacturers. The cash and stock transaction should cause the two to get together and make the whole world believe them, with RoxioNow ending up in the millions of devices currently ready for DivX while increasing possibilities for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/26/paramount-lionsgate-warner-bros-and-sony-pictures-movies-finall/">DivX encoded movies going on sale in the United States</a>. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/07/divx-unveils-its-new-form-as-online-video-to-tv-enabler/">DivX TV</a> internet video frontend for set-top boxes and connected televisions should also get a boost from the deal, we'll see how it competes with widgets, <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2010/05/25/best-buy-to-include-tivos-software-but-no-dvr-in-insignia/">TiVo</a> and Google. There's a DivX TV trailer after the break for those interested plus the press release while related financial details, projections and promises can be found in the linked PDF.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/02/sonic-acquires-divx-to-expand-online-movie-delivery-options-sha/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sonic acquires DivX to expand online movie delivery options, share of Kazaa downloads</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/02/sonic-acquires-divx-to-expand-online-movie-delivery-options-sha/">Sonic acquires DivX to expand online movie delivery options, share of Kazaa downloads</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 02 Jun 2010 11:04:00 EST. Once upon a time, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/09/16/toshiba-develops-mp3-player-with-60-hour-fuel-cell-battery/">it meant something</a> to have a digital audio player that went upwards of two full days without needing a charge. Since then, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/19/aigos-a215-touts-50-hour-battery-life/">we've</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/13/mobiblu-dah-1900-claims-longest-battery-life/">seen</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/08/msis-bluetooth-equipped-ms-5552-dap-goes-50-hours-nonstop/">many</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/12/iriver-e30-shows-love-for-the-lossless-long-winded/">many</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/27/the-nhc-ecolong-85-hours-of-mp3s-off-a-single-aaa/">examples</a>, and it's just not that exciting anymore. But you know what? It's <em>still</em> not that often we see a DAP with 60 hours of battery life <em>and</em> a 3-inch, QVGA TFT LCD that plays ten hours of DivX, Xvid, WMV and H.264 video to boot, so we think Samsung's YP-RB might deserve an honorable mention. The player was recently spotted in a Korean distributor catalog in 4, 8 and 16GB varieties, and we hope (but doubt, given tricky <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/04/know-your-rights-h-264-patent-licensing-and-you/">patent licensing issues</a>) that we'll see one stateside sometime soon.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/10/samsung-mp3-player-goes-60-hours-on-a-charge/">Samsung MP3 player goes 60 hours on a charge</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 10 May 2010 10:38:00 EST. Apparently there was still a HDTV or two without the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/divx/">DivX</a> stamp, but that should be mostly resolved now after a new deal with Sharp. The new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/06/sharps-debuts-60-inch-240hz-aquos-led-lcd-tv-68-inch-set-with/">AQUOS LE820 LCDs</a> -- featuring the apparently <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/22/george-takei-cant-show-you-sharps-fourth-pixel-can-still-blow/">astonishing Quattron quad-pixel technology</a> -- are able to play 1080p DivX HD files from a connected USB drive. Not quite the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/07/divx-unveils-its-new-form-as-online-video-to-tv-enabler/">embedded content service</a> we saw at CES, but as previous announcements have revealed, DivX has been very effective at squeezing a toe in the door and eventually widening it to include more devices and compatibility. The best part? We don't have to re-rip all those DVDs prepared for the upcoming <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/24/samsung-wave-is-worlds-first-divx-hd-phone-galaxy-s-in-a-hurry/">Galaxy S</a> smartphone.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/06/divx-hd-videos-are-easier-to-see-in-these-sharp-lcds-than-their/">Sharp squeezes DivX HD playback into new Quattron HDTVs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 06 Apr 2010 20:17:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">What do we have here? Pasen, a company who's been boring us to death for years with its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/08/pasen-itouch-le-demo-video-does-it-again-makes-us-scream-in-apa/">MP4 players</a> (and at least one full-on <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/26/keepin-it-real-fake-part-lxvii-the-pasen-itouch/">KIRF</a>) has finally come out with something we could conceivably see ourselves wanting to own. Crazy, huh? It's called the MID5 and as a device its about as revolutionary and original as its name, featuring a 5-inch (800 x 480) LTPS LCD display, WiFi, HDMI out, and support for 720p H.264 video as well as many of your fave formats (including DivX / XviD, RMVB, and MKV. Additionally, the company is boasting up to 10 hours of music or 4.5 hours of video playback. The OS is, predictably these days, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/android,mid">Android</a>. No word on a release date yet but when it is available it should go for around $200.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/06/pasen-mid5-packs-android-cures-insomnia/">Pasen MID5 packs Android, cures insomnia</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 06 Apr 2010 11:01:00 EST. Want some <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/divx">DivX</a>-encoded 720p goodness on your fancy new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/23/htc-evo-4g-is-sprints-android-powered-knight-in-superphone-armo/">superphone</a>? Samsung will be the way to go, at least in the short term. The Korean company has announced that its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/bada">Bada</a>-infused <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/14/samsung-wave-first-hands-on-bada-packed-and-super-fast/">Wave</a> handset will be the first phone with certified support for DivX HD playback, with the freshly announced, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/product/android">Android</a>-driven, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/23/samsung-galaxy-s-hands-on-with-video/">Galaxy S</a> following up at an unspecified point in time. Guess we're finally going to get the content to do justice to those <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/16/samsung-wave-shows-whats-super-about-its-amoled-display-by-goin/">spectacular</a> Super AMOLED displays. Believe it: $70 at Target takes home a new Philips (eh hem, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/08/philips-handing-over-north-american-tv-operations-to-funai/">Funai</a>) <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/2009/02/22/philips-unveils-bdp3000-bdp5000-and-bdp7300-blu-ray-players/">BDP5010</a> Blu-ray player that once sold for as much as $250. Hell, it's listed for $139.99 right now on Target's online storefront. If you do manage to track one down in a real life Target store then you'll be getting DivX support, a SDHC card reader, BD Live, and <a href="http://hd.engadget.com/tag/hdmi%20cec">HDMI CEC</a> convenience. While a quick search returns a bevy of mixed reviews (image quality is only so-so), really, for $69.98 you really can't complain if you're looking to finally make the jump to 1080p physical media.<br />

When it comes to storage-based media players that you connect to your TV, it all boils down to performance, compatibility, and capacity. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/lg">LG</a>'s XF2 player ships in April and, with its 1080p video and 5.1 audio output over HDMI, has the performance side covered. In terms of compatibility it hits all its marks (MPEG 1/2/4, h.264, Xvid, DivX, FLAC, WMA, AC3, etc. etc.), also supporting subtitles and captions in a number of formats. Capacity, well, 500GB is good, but more would have been better, especially given the lack of a network interface -- and the price. This one will retail for 270,000 won, or about $240. Yeah, ouch.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/13/lgs-xf2-media-player-does-1080p-with-subtitles-blows-budgets/">LG's XF2 media player does 1080p with subtitles, blows budgets, ships next month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 13 Jan 2010 09:14:00 EST. We know you were put off by the whole <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/16/zune-hd-twitter-app-now-live/">Twitter</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/17/microsoft-updating-zune-hd-twitter-to-stop-censoring-tweets/">censorship</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/18/zune-hd-twitter-app-updated-dirty-words-no-longer-censored/">debacle</a> last month, but Microsoft and the Zune HD have moved past that (honest) and they want you to come along as well. They're enticing everyone to forget about that bone-headed move by, well, throwing everyone a bone and adding in Xvid support, part of full compatibility with MPEG-4 part 2 Advanced Simple Profile. DivX will <em>not</em> be coming out to play, but Smart DJ will be, a feature that isn't so much new but is newly portable, providing a counterpoint to the iPod's Genius and, since you can use it to stream content from the Zune Marketplace (when connected via WiFi) it begins to approach the functionality of apps like Pandora or Slacker Radio. Tasty, indeed, though at this point we're not sure when Microsoft will be throwing us this juicy firmware update.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/12/zune-hd-getting-xvid-smart-dj-ever-more-appealing/">Zune HD getting Xvid, Smart DJ, ever more appealing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 12 Jan 2010 09:24:00 EST. Other than amassing support from seemingly every CE device on the market, DivX's next step? Online content aggregation. Announced as a partner with LG during <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/06/live-from-lgs-ces-press-event/">yesterday's press conference</a>, the company feels it is in a position to give a more TV-like experience to internet video by extending its platform to interested content providers. The software will allow users to stream not only from the cloud, but also compatible video from their own PCs. Its pitch to OEMs claims IP streaming capability on any hardware, and with it demonstrated ability to cut a deal, expect to see DivX TV on a set-top near you very, very soon. Press release and a quick trailer are embedded after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/07/divx-unveils-its-new-form-as-online-video-to-tv-enabler/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>DivX unveils its new form as online video-to-TV enabler</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/07/divx-unveils-its-new-form-as-online-video-to-tv-enabler/">DivX unveils its new form as online video-to-TV enabler</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 07 Jan 2010 12:02:00 EST. Aluratek hasn't been one to really rival the mainstays in the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/29/alurateks-10-5-inch-admpf110-digiframe-does-hd-movies-too/">digiframe</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/08/aluratek-libre-ebook-reader-pro-sports-monochrome-reflective-lcd/">e-reader</a> markets, but the outfit's latest portable media player looks atypically slick. Boasting an expansive 8.9-inch display and an almost slate-like look, the Cinepal arrives with 4GB of inbuilt memory, an SD / SDHC expansion slot, 720p display and a built-in Li-ion good for up to six hours of continuous use. Aside from playing back WMA and MP3 jams, it'll also handle DRM-laced DivX files along with the usual assortment: AVI, VOB, DAT, MPEG, H.264, MKV, JPEG, etc. Best of all, the player is priced at just $179, and it'll be available next month for the Yanks who care.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/07/aluratek-tempts-with-8-9-inch-720p-cinepal-pmp/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Aluratek tempts with 8.9-inch 720p Cinepal PMP</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/07/aluratek-tempts-with-8-9-inch-720p-cinepal-pmp/">Aluratek tempts with 8.9-inch 720p Cinepal PMP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 07 Jan 2010 00:01:00 EST. LaCie's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/lacie-offers-up-lacinema-classic-multimedia-hard-drive/">LaCinema Classic</a> multimedia hard drive was a fine device, but if you're anything like us, you're never perfectly satisfied. Thus, we're stoked to see the outfit issuing a revamped version of the aforesaid device today, with the LaCinema Classic HD including up to 2TB of internal storage space, (optional) 802.11n WiFi and built-in DLNA server capabilities. As you'd expect, this sexy black block will stream multimedia from your Mac or PC onto your HDTV, and the included HDMI port (and cable) should ensure that transfers remain gorgeous. We're told that format support won't be an issue, and if you're a believer, you can get your pre-order in now for $249.99 (1TB). Rear shot is after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/24/lacie-packs-2tb-hdd-dlna-support-into-lacinema-classic-hd/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LaCie packs 2TB HDD, DLNA support into LaCinema Classic HD</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/24/lacie-packs-2tb-hdd-dlna-support-into-lacinema-classic-hd/">LaCie packs 2TB HDD, DLNA support into LaCinema Classic HD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 24 Nov 2009 17:21:00 EST. Functionally, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/myracer">MyRacer</a> has yet to really knock our socks off. But, its lineup of PMPs has always featured some lovely design cues, and the Q10 is perhaps the nicest yet. It has some subtly '70s styling and that cheeky volume knob with an illuminated red surround that would probably result in you getting an earful whenever sliding it into a back pocket. As you'd expect it has all the major audio and video formats covered (including DivX, Xvid, MP3, AAC, and WMA) and also includes an FM tuner, transmitter, and a voice recorder. There's 8GB of storage behind the 3-inch, 400 x 240 touchscreen and a microSD slot for expansion. No word on price, but we're unlikely to see this one Stateside anyway, so enjoy these fine pictures and see if you can spot the snail. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/myracers-liesse-q10/">MyRacer's Liesse Q10</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/myracers-liesse-q10/#2360995"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/myracer-q10-new-2009-10-13-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/myracers-liesse-q10/#2360996"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/myracer-q10-new-2009-10-13-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/myracers-liesse-q10/#2360997"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/myracer-q10-new-2009-10-13-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/myracers-liesse-q10/#2360998"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/myracer-q10-new-2009-10-13-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/myracers-liesse-q10/#2360999"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/myracer-q10-new-2009-10-13-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.pmptoday.com/2009/10/12/myracer-lisse-q10-touch-pmp-wow/">PMP Today</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/13/myracers-q10-is-the-pmp-with-a-little-dial/">MyRacer's Q10 is the PMP with a funky little dial</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 13 Oct 2009 07:58:00 EST. For the surprisingly reasonable price of $99.99, users can utilize this very device to stream and play back an array of formats with 1080p resolution support. Heck, there's even an eSATA and Ethernet port there, just waiting for your love. So, will you show it? Set in stone <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/07/iluv-keeps-it-flowing-with-i1166-9-inch-portable-multimedia-play/">for March</a>, eh? Looks like that ship date slipped <em>just a wee bit</em>. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/iLuv/">iLuv</a>'s curious i1166 -- which plays back an array of multimedia from an array of sources on its 9-inch LCD -- is now slated to ship to the US next month. Originally <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/07/iluv-keeps-it-flowing-with-i1166-9-inch-portable-multimedia-play/">introduced at CES</a>, the $269.99 device can play back content stored on an iPod, DVD, SD / MMC card or USB drive, though the omission of a screen resolution gives us serious pause. Other specs include twin 3.5 millimeter headphone jacks, an "iPod-friendly" user interface and a bundled remote, none of which justify the lofty asking price in our humble eyes. You and your wallet can feel free to disagree in around a fortnight, though.<br /><br />

That includes not only its next line of Blu-ray set-top players we're sure to see unveiled at CES, but also digital TVs and in-car players, so between Panasonic and NEC MKV fans should be able to take their videos even more places without the extra step of transcoding in 2010.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/panasonic/" rel="tag">Panasonic</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/11/panasonic-including-divx-plus-hd-mkv-support-into-next-gen-blu/">Panasonic including DivX Plus HD (MKV) support into next gen Blu-ray players, TVs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 11 Sep 2009 16:42:00 EST. Small, bright, and wireless: a potent trifecta of win for an ultra-portable projector. LG's new HS200 DLP projector is here at IFA sourcing DivX video off local USB media and throwing the audio over its embedded FM transmitter. And because it's LED-based, it racks up numbers like 200 ANSI-Lumens and 30,000 hours of operation before burn-out -- that's 4 hours of operation per day for oh, say, 20 years. The 80-inch, 800x600 pixel moving image that we saw was reasonably bright in a demo-room where ambient lighting was on par with a daytime living room, curtains closed. The viewing and listening experience was more than passable, enjoyable even, and far superior to what you'll get from a pico projector. Jacks include HDMI, RGB / component, and composite with an expected price of &euro;499 when it lands in Europe this month (coming to the US a few months later). See it for yourselves in the video after the break.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-hs200-video-hands-on/">LG HS200 video hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-hs200-video-hands-on/#2262022"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/09/lg-handheld-projector-dsc_6972-engadget_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-hs200-video-hands-on/#2262021"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/09/lg-handheld-projector-dsc_6975-engadget_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-hs200-video-hands-on/#2262020"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/09/lg-handheld-projector-dsc_6976-engadget_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-hs200-video-hands-on/#2262019"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/09/lg-handheld-projector-dsc_6978-engadget_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-hs200-video-hands-on/#2262017"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/09/lg-handheld-projector-dsc_6981-engadget_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/06/lg-hs200-pocket-projector-hands-on-reveals-an-fm-transmitter-a/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LG HS200 'pocket projector' hands-on reveals an FM transmitter and embedded DivX surprise </em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/06/lg-hs200-pocket-projector-hands-on-reveals-an-fm-transmitter-a/">LG HS200 'pocket projector' hands-on reveals an FM transmitter and embedded DivX surprise </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 06 Sep 2009 14:48:00 EST. Over the last few years we've witnessed a slew of <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/divxcertified">DivX Certified</a> devices including HDTVs, DVD &amp; Blu-ray player, set-top boxes, game consoles and even <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/04/09/samsung-f500-ultra-video-officially-becomes-divx-certified/">cell phones</a>, but until now, despite several content agreements, in the U.S. there hasn't been any content available in the format from the major studios. That changes today now that online store FilmFresh.com, has signed up Paramount, Lionsgate, <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/10/14/warner-bros-gives-green-light-for-divx-distribution/">Warner Bros</a>. &amp; <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/01/09/sony-pictures-televisions-serving-up-content-to-divx-certified/">Sony Pictures</a> to offer new release and archive movies for purchase as <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/divx">DivX</a> formatted downloads. The bad news? For now at least, they'll be standard definition (stereo audio) only. Rick Bolton, CEO of Film Fresh as well as Eric Grab and John Greene of DivX filled us in on the details, and from what we've learned -- if you'll stand for lower res video -- the combination of compatibility and portability could make this download service a competitor against the likes of iTunes, <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/CinemaNow/">CinemaNow</a> and Zune.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/26/paramount-lionsgate-warner-bros-and-sony-pictures-movies-finall/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Paramount, Lionsgate, Warner Bros. &amp; Sony Pictures movies finally available (legitimately) in DivX</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/26/paramount-lionsgate-warner-bros-and-sony-pictures-movies-finall/">Paramount, Lionsgate, Warner Bros. &amp; Sony Pictures movies finally available (legitimately) in DivX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 26 Aug 2009 08:00:00 EST. We've been following LG's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/22/lgs-240hz-lh90-led-tv-series-priced-global-release-dates-still/">240Hz LH90 series</a> of LED-backlit HDTVs since they were <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/07/lg-kicks-out-a-dozen-hdtv-product-lines-at-ces-2009/">launched</a> alongside oodles of internet-connected rivals at CES, and now -- at long last -- the 1080p trio is shipping to US soil. The sets, which are the first-ever to boast THX certification, also feature an ambient light sensor, 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 240Hz dejudder technology and a super glossy bezel. If you're jonesing to get one in your abode, you can cruise over to your nearest electronics dealer and part ways with $3,199.95 (55-inch), $2,399.95 (47-inch), or $1,899.95 (42-inch).<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lcd/" rel="tag">LCD</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/22/lgs-thx-certified-lh90-lcd-hdtvs-now-shipping-in-us/">LG's THX-certified LH90 LCD HDTVs now shipping in US</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 22 Jul 2009 16:19:00 EST. We questioned the strategy of Marantz delivering a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/24/marantz-intros-799-profile-1-1-bd7003-blu-ray-player/">nearly $800 Bonus View Blu-ray player</a> last fall, but it appears ready to settle things with customers who believe in its superior construction and components and want a few newer features (though access to streaming movie services is still missing) with two BD-Live compatible players on the way in August. Both support AVCHD, DivX, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD bitstreaming and more, with the BD7004 adding 7.1 analog outs, internal TrueHD and DTS-HD MA decoding, an Anchor Bay Reference Series video processor and additional reinforcement against vibrations. Look for the BD5004 (pictured above) for $549 and the BD7004 at $799. In the interests of matching equipment, announced along with the BD7004 in Japan is the 7.1 channel NR1501 amplifier due this month, supporting the latest HD audio formats in a 105mm x 367mm deep resin and fiber reinforced design for &yen;60,000 ($635), check for additional pictures after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/15/marantz-preps-bd5004-bd7004-blu-ray-players-nr1501-amplifier-f/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Marantz preps BD5004, BD7004 Blu-ray players, NR1501 amplifier for launch</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/15/marantz-preps-bd5004-bd7004-blu-ray-players-nr1501-amplifier-f/">Marantz preps BD5004, BD7004 Blu-ray players, NR1501 amplifier for launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 19:49:00 EST. We <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/30/asus-to-introduce-o-play-media-player-at-computex/">knew it was coming</a>, now the ASUS O!Play is official. The HDP-R1 HD Media Player supports HD video playback in a variety of codecs including MPEG1/2/4, H.264, VC-1, and RM/RMVB in a multitude of packages including .mp4, .mov, .avi, .divx, and .mkv just to name a few. FLAC and OGG audio? Yup, no problem. The box connects to your display over HDMI or composite A/V with an option for optical digital audio for multi-channel setups. Media can be slung off a single USB 2.0/eSATA combo port, second vanilla USB 2.0 jack, or streamed over fixed Ethernet if you prefer to keep your content on the other side of the house. Sorry, no 802.11n because, you know, everyone's home is wired with Cat 5 (riiiight). No price or release date given; but it would have to be cheap and soon for us to be even remotely interested.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/industry/" rel="tag">Industry</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/media-streamers/" rel="tag">Media streamers</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/03/asus-o-play-hdp-r1-media-player-wont-likely-see-your-o-face/">ASUS O!Play HDP-R1 media player won't likely get an O-face</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 03 Jun 2009 01:53:00 EST. LG continues to up its game in the Blu-ray department, first shipping the planet's first <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/09/04/hands-on-with-lgs-bd300-netflix-blu-ray-deck/">Netflix-enabled BD deck</a> and now shipping the planet's first DivX HD 1080p certified player. Yep, the BD390 -- which was <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/01/07/lgs-2009-blu-ray-revamp-and-new-blu-ray-htibs/">originally unveiled</a> back at CES this year -- is now making its way out to eager consumers, boasting an 802.11n WiFi module and support for DivX streaming from a DLNA server. The pain? $399.95, but at least that includes BD-Live support, 7.1-channel audio output, 1GB of inbuilt memory and a USB 2.0 socket.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hdtv/" rel="tag">HDTV</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/19/lgs-wifi-enabled-divx-friendly-bd390-blu-ray-player-now-shippi/">LG's WiFi-enabled, DivX-friendly BD390 Blu-ray player now shipping</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 19 May 2009 10:56:00 EST. Yep, the BD390 -- which was <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/07/lgs-2009-blu-ray-revamp-and-new-blu-ray-htibs/">originally unveiled</a> back at CES this year -- is now making its way out to eager consumers, boasting an 802.11n WiFi module and support for DivX streaming from a DLNA server. The pain? $399.95, but at least that includes BD-Live support, 7.1-channel audio output, 1GB of inbuilt memory and a USB 2.0 socket.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/blu-ray/" rel="tag">Blu-ray</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/players/" rel="tag">Players</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/19/lgs-wifi-enabled-divx-friendly-bd390-blu-ray-player-now-shippi/">LG's WiFi-enabled, DivX-friendly BD390 Blu-ray player now shipping</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 19 May 2009 10:46:00 EST. We've yet to see anything roll across LG's official wire, but oodles of legitimate UK sources are now reporting that LG's hotly anticipated <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/20/lg-gc900-viewty-smart-now-more-official-than-ever-before/">Viewty Smart</a> is making its way out to Orange shops. Strangely, it seems as if pricing details are still being held captive (really? at this point?), but we fully anticipate at least a small premium for 8 megapixels in a phone. Oh, and if you really needed any more affirmation that a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/20/lg-affirms-that-12-megapixel-cameraphone-is-in-the-works/">12 megapixel smartphone</a> was in the works from this company, LG also took the opportunity to nod its head and promise one for "later this year." Goodie, goodie.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/news.phtml/24098/lg-viewty-smart-available-shops.phtml">Pocket-lint</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/orange/" rel="tag">Orange</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/14/lgs-viewty-smart-shipping-this-month-12mp-smartphone-later-th/">LG's Viewty Smart shipping this month, 12MP smartphone "later this year"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 14 May 2009 07:58:00 EST.
