	It's been a while since we've seen the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/meizu+mx/">Meizu MX</a>, but these latest shots from Mr. Blurrycam reveal that the phone could see a substantial tweak to its main home button. These photos are likely to be of a work-in-progress handset, with plenty of bizarre cutaways presumably obscuring details of the mole. In the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/10/meizu-mx-now-aiming-for-end-of-september-launch-coming-in-dual/">leaked drawings</a>, Meizu's upcoming smartphone <em>looked</em> an awful lot like its M9 predecessor, albeit with a bigger screen, running on a superior A9 Cortex processor. The main button apparently doubles as an optical trackpad, with the two flanking capacitive buttons rotating depending on orientation. While it still remains uncertain whether this nub will replace the squarish button found on the MX <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/17/meizu-mx-to-be-jack-wongs-next-dream-phone-coming-with-hdmi-ou/">mock-up</a> earlier this year, hopefully CEO Jack Wong will still manage to meet the December launch date -- if only for the sake of all those loyal <em><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/01/meizus-m9-launch-amasses-thousands-of-jack-wong-fans-across-chi/">Mei-yo</a></em>. Fans of severely obscured photography can catch another glimpse after the break.</p><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/24/meizu-mx-resurfaces-home-button-gets-a-nip-and-tuck-turns-into/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Meizu MX resurfaces, home button gets a nip-and-tuck, turns into optical trackpad?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/24/meizu-mx-resurfaces-home-button-gets-a-nip-and-tuck-turns-into/">Meizu MX resurfaces, home button gets a nip-and-tuck, turns into optical trackpad?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 24 Nov 2011 10:06:00 EST. It's only been 109 days since Meizu's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/01/meizus-m9-launch-amasses-thousands-of-jack-wong-fans-across-chi/">remarkable</a> launch of the M9 Android, but as we all know, there's nothing stopping our man <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/jack+wong">Jack Wong</a> from teasing his next flagship phone on his forum. Previously known as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/06/meizu-ceo-jack-wong-oh-hey-the-new-ipod-touch-looks-a-bit-lik/">M9II</a>, Wong has now renamed this 4-inch handset to MX -- apparently short for "meng xiang" or "dream" in Mandarin Chinese, though X can also cunningly double up as the Roman numeral for 10 here. Also shared is the above real-life shot of an MX mock-up -- not far off from the earlier render -- which is appropriately seen chillaxing on the CEO's bed. In a separate forum thread, we're told that HDMI and coaxial digital audio outputs will be present on the MX, and a 16GB model will be released by the end of the year <em>probably</em> for &yen;3,580 ($548). While this is a significant jump from the M9's &yen;2,699 ($413), Wong insists that both phones share the same profit margin, and frankly, this will still be a pretty good deal for some Cortex-A9 goodness under a larger screen. We'll be right here waiting for you, Meizu; or we could just pop by your factory <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/01/exclusive-a-day-trip-to-meizus-factory/">again</a> some time.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> Jack Wong's also <a href="http://bbs.meizu.com/viewthread.php?tid=2575077&amp;page=1#pid41564705">confirmed</a> HSPA+ support for some sweet 21Mbps download speed. The phone's getting better by the minute!<br />
<br />
<strong>Update 2: </strong>And we now have an <a href="http://bbs.meizu.com/viewthread.php?tid=2577548&amp;page=1#pid41605455">8 megapixel camera with flash</a>.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/17/meizu-mx-to-be-jack-wongs-next-dream-phone-coming-with-hdmi-ou/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Meizu MX to be Jack Wong's next dream phone, coming with HDMI-out by year's end (update: HSPA+)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/17/meizu-mx-to-be-jack-wongs-next-dream-phone-coming-with-hdmi-ou/">Meizu MX to be Jack Wong's next dream phone, coming with HDMI-out by year's end (update: HSPA+)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 17 Apr 2011 22:46:00 EST. If <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/11/cyanogen-squeezes-android-2-2-froyo-into-g1-mytouch-3g/">6.0.0 RC1</a> just wasn't cutting it for ya, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/cyanogen">CyanogenMod-6.0</a> has released what's being touted as the "first stable release based on Android 2.2" and has hit the target number of supported devices, which by our quick count includes EVO 4G, Slide, Nexus One, Dream / Magic, Aria, and Droid -- and we might be missing a few.. You know the drill; if you need a bit of Froyo in your mobile life.<br />

Earlier this evening, we took the plunge -- now, we're rocking Froyo on our formerly old-and-busted T-Mobile G1. That's because Cyanogen's team of ROM hackers has <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/29/cyanogen-5-0-7-experimentally-brings-eclair-to-g1-mytouch-3g/">come through once again</a> for the little handset that could, serving early adopters with HTC Dream and Magic phones (as well as the Nexus One) with the first fully-functioning, stable build of CyanogenMod 6. Based on Google's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/21/android-2-2-froyo-everything-you-ever-wanted-to-know/">famous frozen yogurt</a>, the release candidate's got more fabulous tweaks than you can shake a stick at, but sadly doesn't seem to include <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/20/android-2-2-froyo-beta-hands-on-flash-10-1-wifi-hotspots-an/">Flash 10.1</a>, and though WiFi and the camera are working great (as well as <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/03/nexus-one-sees-red-nearly-doubles-battery-life-video/">SurfaceFlinger</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/31/how-to-push-chrome-firefox-links-to-your-android-2-2-froyo-de/">Chrome to Phone</a>) many would-be shoppers in the Android Market are finding themselves faced with the dreaded force close. As usual, you'll find instructions at the source link if you understand the risks -- if you're not careful, you can easily brick your phone.<br />

Though we're not even a wee bit shocked to see a "usable" version of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Froyo/">Froyo</a> already available to owners of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/product/g1">G1 / Dream</a> and <a href="http://mobile.engadget.com/tag/htc,magic">Magic</a>, we're definitely heartened to see that phones running 2008 specs can handily run a mid-2010 version of the platform. There's plenty of stuff that doesn't work yet -- WiFi and GPS, just to name a couple of biggies -- but we suspect that this is one dev community that won't give up until everything is working to their satisfaction. Motivation to hang on to otherwise outdated hardware for a few more months, perhaps?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/28/android-2-2-wastes-no-time-getting-hacked-onto-htc-dream-and-mag/">Android 2.2 wastes no time getting hacked onto HTC Dream and Magic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 28 May 2010 00:50:00 EST. The release is labeled as experimental, so take care not to flash it onto your <em>work phone</em>, and G1 owners should back up their data as they'll need to install a little something called the DangerSPL (which has phone bricking potential) and perform a full wipe. If you're the kind of individual who doesn't shy away from software explicitly labeled "danger," get cracking on that rooted Eclair at the source link.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update: </strong>Can't get through? That's because the sheer willpower of Android early adopters is crushing websites hosting the CM5 ROM like so many stale pretzels. Cyanogen is retweeting alternative options if you simply can't wait for things to quiet down.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/29/cyanogen-5-0-7-experimentally-brings-eclair-to-g1-mytouch-3g/">Cyanogen 5.0.7 experimentally brings Eclair to G1, myTouch 3G -- caveats apply</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 29 Apr 2010 23:12:00 EST. Why? Well, the problem's so dangerous that Rogers has taken the unusual step of vowing to disable internet access altogether for anyone failing to apply the "mandatory" patch by 6AM today (but don't worry, you should get it back as soon as you've upgraded) which actually allows emergency calls to go through. For their troubles, affected customers will be credited one month's worth of data -- and Magic owners will be delighted to discover that their phones have magically received HTC's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SenseUI/">Sense UI</a> as a result of this whole ordeal. All's well that ends well, right?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/24/rogers-rolls-out-fixes-for-911-problems-with-dream-and-magic-cu/">Rogers rolls out fixes for 911 problems with Dream and Magic, cuts off data for non-upgraders</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 24 Jan 2010 06:35:00 EST. Basically, there's an issue that prevents emergency calls from being completed if location-based services are enabled, which means you've got to head into Settings and disable GPS -- not an optimal solution by any stretch of the imagination. Rogers and HTC are said to be working on a patch as we speak, but in the meantime, don't expect to waltz into a Rogers store and pick up one of these bad boys.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/16/rogers-yanks-htc-dream-from-shelves-for-urgent-emergency-call-fi/">Rogers yanks HTC Dream from shelves for urgent emergency call fix</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 16 Jan 2010 14:07:00 EST. So, the rub you ask? Well, that's the magic here, there all but isn't one, simply hop online or call customer care -- Rogers brick and mortar shops won't be doing this upgrade -- between the 12th and 26th of January, re-sign -- yes, to a new 3-year, but we're told that should be no more than 7 months for most users -- your contract and you walk away with a $599 handset for nothing. No added fees, administrative charges or anything, heck, Rogers is even eating the $79 upgrade fee and the $35 admin fee for the new set. Oh, but check this out, it gets better: it is an upgrade and as such Rogers doesn't even want your old set back, so you'll have a day phone and an evening phone, one 2.1 -- at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/06/rogers-and-htc-give-up-magic-will-see-android-2-1-but-dream-ge/">some point</a>, anyway -- and a nice 1.5 set with Sense. So, what are you waiting for? From any angle this just looks too fantastic to let slip through your fingers.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> Well, the good deal from Rogers just got better -- as if that could be possible. It seems the lucky upgrading masses are also receiving a bonus $50 rebate on checkout. So not only do you get a free Dream and get to keep the Magic, Rogers is now paying you $50 for the privilege.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/13/rogers-htc-dream-upgrade-plan-is-official-still-free/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rogers HTC Dream upgrade plan is official, still free</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/13/rogers-htc-dream-upgrade-plan-is-official-still-free/">Rogers HTC Dream upgrade plan is official, still free</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 13 Jan 2010 03:52:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.htc.com/ca/support/magic-rogers/help/system-and-upgrade">message was simple</a>: there would be no updates for the devices beyond 1.5. <em>MobileSyrup's</em> now heard directly from HTC that there will indeed be upgrades to both devices, with the first scheduled in the next weeks. Bump one will apparently see "a number of benefits for these devices, including bringing the HTC Sense experience to the HTC Magic" though the OS version will stay at 1.5 -- in other words, you'll basically get a current-gen <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Hero/">Hero</a>. While that's cause for celebration, mid-year is when we'll get to the meat of the tweaks as we'll apparently see an upgrade to 2.1 for the Magic, but the lowly Dream -- due to "certain limitations," likely meager internal storage if we had to guess -- will stay at 1.5. So there you have it, your sets may get better in the near term and much better -- at least for some -- half way through the year.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/06/rogers-and-htc-give-up-magic-will-see-android-2-1-but-dream-ge/">Rogers and HTC give up: Magic will see Android 2.1, but Dream gets a pass</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 06 Jan 2010 04:03:00 EST. You know that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/01/htc-hero-gets-a-leaked-android-2-1-rom-with-sense/">leaked HTC Sense ROM</a> with Android 2.1 underneath? Well, somebody did some digging and found a wild stack of HTC Android handset codenames buried within. It starts in the realm of the familiar, with mentions of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Dragon/">Dragon</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Passion/">Passion</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Dream/">Dream</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Hero/">Hero</a>, but then it starts to get a little wild. Here's the full list: Bahamas, Bravo, DesireC, Dragon, Dream, Espresso, Halo, HeroCT, HeroC, Hero, Huangshan, Incredible, Legend, Liberty, Memphis, Paradise, PassionC, Passion, Sapphire and Supersonic. Pretty wild, right? There's no telling what exactly this list implies, other than the fact that Passion and Dragon are indeed on the books, and that HTC's naming department can really let the superlatives fly, but we're sure all will be made clear over the next year or two.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/03/huge-stash-of-htc-android-codenames-found-within-2-1-rom/">Huge stash of HTC Android codenames found within 2.1 ROM</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 03 Dec 2009 13:39:00 EST. Remember back in the day when the West was still wild, the gold rush was still in full effect, you owned whatever land you could manage to fence off, and tycoons were being made and broken on a daily basis? No? Well, some of you whippersnappers might be too young to recall it, but trust us, it happened -- and it seems like that's the kind of frontier mentality we're getting again today in the nascent Android landscape. Just a couple weeks after launching, mobile ad clearinghouse AdMob reports that the <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/droid">Motorola Droid</a> is already accounting for a whopping 24 percent of all its Android-based traffic -- no small feat, considering that the then-unreleased device didn't even move the needle in their October report (pictured in the left graph). The HTC Dream -- the world's first retail Android device, you might remember -- still reigns supreme at 36 percent, but it's amazing that the entire Android space is still volatile enough to register nearly a 25 percent shift with the launch of a single new device on a single carrier. For comparison, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CLIQ/">CLIQ</a> clocks in with a lowly 6 percent -- proof that Verizon's aggressive advertising has been working some magic. Question is, what'll be the next device to completely screw up this pie chart again?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/23/stats-show-motorola-droid-is-the-new-elephant-in-the-android-roo/">Stats show Motorola Droid is the new elephant in the Android room</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 23 Nov 2009 18:01:00 EST. Did you hear? Google's got this little OS called Android that has reached the ripe, mature age of 2-point-Oh. With the giant eclair now sitting <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/15/giant-android-eclair-delivered-to-google-by-even-bigger-nerds-v/">on Google's front lawn</a> and the SDK out in the wilds, what was poor Akira Harada to do with all that code knowing that the Motorola Droid was still <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/28/motorola-droid-official-on-verizon-199-on-contract-coming-nov/">days away</a> from shipping? Port it to the original Android device, the T-Mobile G1 / HTC Dream, naturally. It's a rough port, not even close to being optimized but it should whet your appetites for all those <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/28/htc-confirmed-to-be-cooking-up-android-2-0-update-for-hero-othe/">official updates</a> and delicious home-cooked ROMs we expect to be arriving in the hallowed halls of the XDA forums in the days ahead. Anyone with an existing Android device and a nasty case of <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/DROID/">DROID</a> envy today might want to hold off before switching devices, emptying the bank account, and possibly switching carriers in the process, because HTC's got a little bit of information here to end our day on a high note. Here's the full quote:<br />
<blockquote>
<div>"Yes, we are working on an Eclair update for the HTC Hero. Because Eclair is a significantly enhanced release, it will require some time to update Sense for this new version of the Android OS. Please be patient while we work to provide you with a tightly integrated experience like the one you are already enjoying on your Hero."</div>
</blockquote>Bottom line, the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Hero/">Hero</a> is signed up for Android 2.0 and it's just a matter of HTC getting <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Sense/">Sense</a> ported and tested -- makes sense (no pun intended), and we imagine Motorola will have to go through these same hoops with <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/BLUR/">BLUR</a>. The company went on to mention that it intends to bring the update to all versions of the Hero, though it's up to partners (like Sprint, for instance) to help coordinate how and when that's going to go down. We don't have any information on the sundry <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Dream/">Dream</a> and <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Magic/">Magic</a> variants around the world at this point -- but it's important to remember that the Hero uses the same processor as its older siblings, so at least there's hope for a good xda-developers port if nothing else.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/28/htc-confirmed-to-be-cooking-up-android-2-0-update-for-hero-othe/">HTC confirmed to be cooking up Android 2.0 update for Hero, other devices unclear</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 28 Oct 2009 19:19:00 EST. We're expecting the official release of Android 1.6 phones <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/15/android-1-6-sdk-released-coming-to-devices-as-early-as-october/">any day now</a>, but those of you hardcore enough to rock the badass unlocked Dream known as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/adp1">Android Dev Phone 1</a> can get a bite of that Donut immediately: HTC's posted up an official 1.6 image file for you. Sadly it doesn't seem like regular G1 or Dream owners can use this code, but at least <i>someone's</i> having a good time.<br />

</center>It's been over 11 months since the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Android/">Android</a> first hit the scene with HTC's T-Mobile G1, and in that time we've come to the conclusion that, despite having more or less a clean slate on industrial design choices and specs, little progress has been made in the way of variation. Stacked up side-to-side, Motorola <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CLIQ/">CLIQ</a> manages to stand out with a slide-out keyboard and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/MOTOBLUR/">MOTOBLUR</a> skin, but under the hood, it's pretty much as uniform as a netbook. Peruse for yourself in the chart above.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/samsung/" rel="tag">Samsung</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sprint/" rel="tag">Sprint</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/t-mobile/" rel="tag">T-Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/android/" rel="tag">Android</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/android-battle-cliq-edition/">Android Battle: CLIQ edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 10 Sep 2009 20:00:00 EST. Peruse for yourself in the chart above.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> We had a typo on the Hero screen size -- it's 3.2-inches, not the other way around! Stupid keyboards.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/10/android-battle-cliq-edition/">Android Battle: CLIQ edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 10 Sep 2009 20:00:00 EST. Pioneering T-Mobile G1 owners have been <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/22/t-mobile-usa-starts-pushing-android-1-5-to-g1-owners/">enjoying the spoils</a> of Android 1.5 (or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/cupcake">Cupcake</a>, as it's known 'round these parts) for months now, but it looks as if that very treat will be the last taste of confectionery goodness that the smartphone gets. According to Android software engineer Dave Sparks, a time is soon coming when devs "wont be able to fit the latest [Android] release on the G1's internal flash," and yet another engineer has chimed in via Twitter to say that he "can't promise" that any update after 1.5 will fit. For whatever reason, HTC gifted the G1 with an incredibly meager amount of internal flash, and considering that no Android phone will support app storage / loading from a microSD card, there's no way to free up room for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/10/rubin-android-getting-more-social-features-donut-eclair-and/">Donut, Eclair or Flan</a>. You've been a real champ, G1, but without 2.0+, we just can't give you the love and devotion you truly need. Go on, call us fickle -- we deserve it.<br />

<strong>Update:</strong> We've received a statement directly from T-Mobile on the matter, saying "We plan to continue working with Google to introduce future software updates to the T-Mobile G1. Reports to the contrary are inaccurate." It's unclear whether those are just going to be security and stability updates to 1.5 or whether we'll see wholesale new versions like Donut and beyond, but for the sake of G1 owners everywhere, we're hoping it's the latter.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/software/" rel="tag">Software</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/t-mobile/" rel="tag">T-Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/android/" rel="tag">Android</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/17/t-mobile-g1-wont-see-any-android-updates-beyond-1-5/">T-Mobile G1 won't see any Android updates beyond 1.5 (update: maybe it will)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 17 Aug 2009 19:23:00 EST. Hey, T-Mobile, allow us to hit you up with some knowledge, if you would. Take a quick gander up north of the border, where our dear friends on Rogers have reduced both the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Dream/">Dream</a> (your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/G1/">G1</a>) and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Magic/">Magic</a> (your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/myTouch3G/">myTouch 3G</a>) to just $79.99 on a three-year deal -- and that's in Canadian dollars, which works out to $74 in greenbacks. Granted, yes, we understand that a three-year deal is a full 12 months longer than an old-fashioned American two-year deal, but still, you're going to have to forgive us if we start working on our visa applications. Coincidentally, we know there's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/02/htc-hero-hits-fcc-with-us-3g/">a version of the Hero kicking around that'd work swimmingly on Rogers</a>; we don't mean to start any rumors, but... oh heck, who are we kidding, of <em>course</em> we're trying to start rumors.<br />
<br />
[Thanks, Ilia]<br />

If you're ready, willing, and able to sign up for a new three-year agreement on Rogers, HTC's two inaugural Android sets just got a good deal cheaper for you. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/02/android-goes-canadian-rogers-launches-htc-magic-and-dream/">Originally priced at $149.99 on contract</a>, both phones are now down to $99.99 -- a stellar deal, we think, considering you're getting 7.2Mbps HSDPA, capacitive touch, 3.2 megapixel autofocus cameras with video capture, and HTC-customized Android ROMs. Maybe Rogers is discounting so quickly because they figure the phones aren't quite as appealing in light of the recent <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Hero/">Hero</a> announcement -- or, more intriguingly, maybe they're prepping for an actual Hero launch of their own now that we know <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/02/htc-hero-hits-fcc-with-us-3g/">there's an 850 / 1900 3G version in the mix</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/07/03/rogers-drops-the-price-of-the-htc-dream-and-magic-to-9999/">Boy Genius Report</a>]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.rogers.com/web/Rogers.portal?_nfpb=true&amp;_windowLabel=Wireless_BuyFlow_Portlet_Definition&amp;Wireless_BuyFlow_Portlet_Definition_actionOverride=%2Fportlets%2Fconsumer%2Fwireless%2FphoneBuyflow%2FshowPage_ForPhone&amp;Wireless_BuyFlow_Portlet_DefinitionproductId_Detailed=DREAMBLKR&amp;_pageLabel=WRLS_BuyFlow">Read</a> - Dream (Black)<br /><a href="http://www.rogers.com/web/Rogers.portal?_nfpb=true&amp;_windowLabel=Wireless_BuyFlow_Portlet_Definition&amp;Wireless_BuyFlow_Portlet_Definition_actionOverride=%2Fportlets%2Fconsumer%2Fwireless%2FphoneBuyflow%2FshowPage_ForPhone&amp;Wireless_BuyFlow_Portlet_DefinitionproductId_Detailed=DREAMWHTR&amp;_pageLabel=WRLS_BuyFlow">Read</a> - Dream (White)<br /><a href="http://www.rogers.com/web/Rogers.portal?_nfpb=true&amp;_windowLabel=Wireless_BuyFlow_Portlet_Definition&amp;Wireless_BuyFlow_Portlet_Definition_actionOverride=%2Fportlets%2Fconsumer%2Fwireless%2FphoneBuyflow%2FshowPage_ForPhone&amp;Wireless_BuyFlow_Portlet_DefinitionproductId_Detailed=MAGICBLKR&amp;_pageLabel=WRLS_BuyFlow">Read</a> - Magic<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/rogers-wireless/" rel="tag">Rogers Wireless</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/android/" rel="tag">Android</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/03/rogers-magic-and-dream-now-yours-for-99-99/">Rogers Magic and Dream now yours for $99.99</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 03 Jul 2009 11:23:00 EST. One of our favorite <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/kirf">intellectual property rips</a> of recent months is without a doubt the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/sciphone">SciPhone</a> Dream G2 from China. Having completely missed the point of Google's open-source OS being, well, <em>open-source</em> and thus free for SciPhone's use, the company instead chose to hack the G2's "<font size="2" face="Arial">proprietory" OS to look like Android. One of our favorite <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/kirf">intellectual property rips</a> of recent months is without a doubt the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/sciphone">SciPhone</a> Dream G2 from China. Having completely missed the point of Google's open-source OS being, well, <em>open-source</em> and thus free for SciPhone's use, the company instead chose to hack the G2's "<font size="2" face="Arial">proprietory" OS to look like Android. The charger, however, built to look like the iconic Android mascot is pretty damn cute; enough so that the idea of paying $150 just to get our hands on the 100-240V USB charger</font> has crossed our minds. With home screen widgets, an on-screen keyboard, great notification management, and hands-down the best Gmail experience of any platform, <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/android1.5">Android 1.5</a> finally makes it easy (or easier, anyway) to love Google's foray into the mobile world. Of course, if you're coming from an iPhone -- as some users inevitably will be -- there are a few features that'll be sorely missed as you make the transition. For us, a biggie was visual voicemail, and after a little trial and error, we found a cool way to add it into our device without even leaving the Google ecosystem -- and even better, it's totally free. Head on over to Engadget Mobile to find out how to do it.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/29/hack-use-google-voice-to-add-visual-voicemail-to-your-g1-dream/">Hack: use Google Voice to add visual voicemail to your G1, Dream, or Magic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 29 Jun 2009 13:15:00 EST. A dude with access to the ROM Rogers is using on its just-launched <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Dream/">Dream</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Magic/">Magic</a> Android sets has posted a truly epic, comprehensive set screenshots on Flickr, showing off some of the features unique to these particular versions of the phones. Examples include a highly-customized HTC virtual keyboard with XT9 support reminiscent of its modern WinMo keyboards, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/23/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchang/">Exchange support</a>, integrated Quickoffice, and an all-important PDF reader. It's a nice little journey into the heart of Canada's first Android sets -- unless you're jealous, in which case it's an emotionally draining nightmare.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.androidandme.com/2009/06/news/60-screens-from-rogers-htc-g1/">Android and Me</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/software/" rel="tag">Software</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/rogers-wireless/" rel="tag">Rogers Wireless</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/android/" rel="tag">Android</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/04/rogers-android-build-for-dream-and-magic-deconstructed-shot-by/">Rogers' Android build for Dream and Magic deconstructed shot-by-shot</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 04 Jun 2009 08:57:00 EST. We knew exactly when <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/05/22/rogers-to-sell-htc-dream-magic-for-199-99-on-contract/">the revolution was coming</a>, and come it <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/05/22/rogers-wireless-relolution-coming-tomorrow/">did</a>. Just as promised, Rogers Wireless is now selling the Android-powered HTC Dream and HTC Magic, which marks the first official entry of the Google-built OS into the Great White North. Both handsets are ready to dabble in the Android Market and surf on the carrier's 3.5G network; all that's left for you to do is hand over $149.99 on a three contract and nab a box of Tim Hortons donuts. Mmm, donuts.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/02/android-goes-canadian-rogers-launches-htc-magic-and-dream/">Android goes Canadian: Rogers launches HTC Magic and Dream</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 02 Jun 2009 10:47:00 EST. We'd say that Best Buy's phone pricing is never a set-in-stone indication of the price you'll pay direct from the carrier, but it's probably pretty safe to assume from these tags that everyone -- Rogers, Best Buy, Future Shop, you name it -- will be charging within a few bucks of CAD $149.99 ($135) for your choice of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Dream/">Dream</a> or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Magic/">Magic</a> when the Android sets launch on June 2. That's not too terribly bruising on the pocketbook, but that's going to be on a three-year contract with a minimum $45 voice / data plan; if you step down to a two-year deal, you jump all the way up to a whopping $449.99, and a contract-free purchase is going to set you back $599.99. Tell you what, Rogers: give us both the black <em>and</em> the white Dream for $450 on a two-year and you've got yourselves a deal. Sound good?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/rogers-wireless/" rel="tag">Rogers Wireless</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/android/" rel="tag">Android</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/29/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-coming-in-at-149-through-best-buy/">Rogers' HTC Dream and Magic coming in at $149 through Best Buy?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 29 May 2009 10:06:00 EST. Remember how we found out that there's <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/05/15/exchange-enabled-htc-magic-explained-its-not-a-with-google-p/">a difference</a> between the Google-branded Android firmware and its HTC-modified equivalent, and the latter isn't allowed to feature the silkscreened Google logo? The HTC version is way cooler on account of its Exchange ActiveSync support and the much-improved camera app; the only downside is that you can't flaunt that logo on the case, which -- let's be honest -- is totally meaningless to an end user (unless you're some raving Google fanboy / fangirl, and in that case, no amount of awesome customization is going to sway you). Anyhow, it's up to individual carriers to decide which versions of the devices they wish to launch, and Rogers customers will be excited to know that they're getting the logo-free HTC builds. That makes Canadian Dreams and Magics a whole hell of a lot more useful to business users than the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/g1">G1s</a> down in the States, and going forward, this is an issue T-Mobile probably wants to think about -- as long as the base Android code doesn't license ActiveSync, anyway.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchange-support/">Rogers' HTC Dream and Magic aren't "Google phones," have Exchange support</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchange-support/#2032110"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dreammail_may23200900_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchange-support/#2032111"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dreammail_may23200901_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchange-support/#2032112"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dreammail_may23200902_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchange-support/#2032113"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dreammail_may23200904_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchange-support/#2032114"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dreammail_may23200905_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/23/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchang/">Rogers' HTC Dream and Magic aren't "Google phones," have Exchange support</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 23 May 2009 23:24:00 EST. Remember how we found out that there's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/15/exchange-enabled-htc-magic-explained-its-not-a-with-google-p/">a difference</a> between the Google-branded Android firmware and its HTC-modified equivalent, and the latter isn't allowed to feature the silkscreened Google logo? The HTC version is way cooler on account of its Exchange ActiveSync support and the much-improved camera app; the only downside is that you can't flaunt that logo on the case, which -- let's be honest -- is totally meaningless to an end user (unless you're some raving Google fanboy / fangirl, and in that case, no amount of awesome customization is going to sway you). Anyhow, it's up to individual carriers to decide which versions of the devices they wish to launch, and Rogers customers will be excited to know that they're getting the logo-free HTC builds. That makes Canadian Dreams and Magics a whole hell of a lot more useful to business users than the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/g1">G1s</a> down in the States, and going forward, this is an issue T-Mobile probably wants to think about -- as long as the base Android code doesn't license ActiveSync, anyway.<br /> <span style="font-family: 'Lucida Grande'; font-size: 11px; white-space: pre;" class="Apple-style-span"><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchange-support/">Rogers' HTC Dream and Magic aren't "Google phones," have Exchange support</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchange-support/#2032110"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dreammail_may23200900_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchange-support/#2032111"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dreammail_may23200901_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchange-support/#2032112"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dreammail_may23200902_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchange-support/#2032113"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dreammail_may23200904_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchange-support/#2032114"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dreammail_may23200905_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></span><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/software/" rel="tag">Software</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/rogers-wireless/" rel="tag">Rogers Wireless</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/android/" rel="tag">Android</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/23/rogers-htc-dream-and-magic-arent-google-phones-have-exchang/">Rogers' HTC Dream and Magic aren't "Google phones," have Exchange support</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 23 May 2009 23:24:00 EST. <div align="left">So, Friday rolls around complete with cryptic "you'll get something awesome tomorrow" message from Rogers. Of course we bite, and something awesome <em>did</em> show just after lunch today. Rogers <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/22/rogers-wireless-relolution-coming-tomorrow/">first Android sets</a> launch on the June 2 with both HTC's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Dream/">Dream</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Magic/">Magic</a> taking center stage to usher in the OS' proper christening north of the border. Bundled in the safety of the fireproof (yes, fireproof) safe are a charger, USB cable, headset, and the HTC Dream proper. While T-Mobile's patrons south of the border wait for version 1.5 to arrive, Rogers seems set to launch the devices with the latest build already loaded and good to go. We've not had more than a few hours with the phone, but we're loving it -- and the fact that we finally have an Android device for the US 3G flavor we love doesn't hurt either. Pricing is still firmly in the land of chalk drawings, but we've <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/22/rogers-to-sell-htc-dream-magic-for-199-99-on-contract/">heard tell</a> that $199 would be the price of admission -- and to be honest, that seems about what we'd expect. Follow on for a pile of pics of the un-safing of Rogers first steps in the land of Android.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-wireless-dream-un-safing-and-hands-on/">Rogers Wireless' Dream un-safing and hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-wireless-dream-un-safing-and-hands-on/#2032074"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dream_may23200900_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-wireless-dream-un-safing-and-hands-on/#2032075"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dream_may23200901_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-wireless-dream-un-safing-and-hands-on/#2032080"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dream_may23200902_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-wireless-dream-un-safing-and-hands-on/#2032081"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dream_may23200903_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/rogers-wireless-dream-un-safing-and-hands-on/#2032082"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/05/rogers_dream_may23200904_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div>

<div align="left">We just had this just drop in the mansion's mailbox courtesy of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Rogers/">Rogers</a> Wireless. Apparently, the "relolution" is coming, and coming tomorrow. So like the dutiful souls we are, we've cancelled our appointments chez the <em>coiffeur</em> and are gonna just chill and wait. We're not exactly sure -- but we can certainly <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/22/rogers-to-sell-htc-dream-magic-for-199-99-on-contract/">guess</a> -- what may be arriving: one of two Android-powered sets set to bow on Rogers shortly, that's what (and given a choice, we'd happily take both). Now, will this come pre-packaged with some Cupcake Android 1.5 love, or are we gonna have to wait for the same slow rollout many of you are still dreaming about? More tomorrow, you can count on it. Oh, and Rogers? Please remember, before every "relolution" comes a spellcheck.<br /></div>

<div align="left">Canadians have had to wait quite a while to get their first official taste of Android, and even longer to know how much it'd cost, but it looks like that last detail has now finally been cleared up. According to <em>The Boy Genius Report</em>, Rogers will be asking the ever popular $199.99 for both the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/htcdream">HTC Dream</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/htcmagic">HTC Magic</a> on a three-year contract when they <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/07/rogers-nabs-htc-dream-and-htc-magic-for-canadas-first-look-at-a/">launch on June 2nd</a>, or a hefty $649.99 off-contract. As Boy Genius points out, that's actually $100 more than the previously rumored off-contract price, which briefly spurred talk of a too-good-to-be-true $149.99 on-contract price.<br /></div>

In a surprise announcement, Vodafone Spain is set to launch <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/magic">Magic</a>, HTC's 2nd Android handset, in just a few hours. The countdown timer appeared early this morning with local sales set to begin at 1700 hours. That gives Vodafone Spain subscribers an 8 day head start on the rest of the world -- an eternity for Android nerds. Unfortunately, while it's free with applicable contract on <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/17/htc-magic-up-for-pre-order-from-vodafone-due-out-may-5th-free/">Vodafone UK</a>, it's gonna cost you in Spain -- rates our Spanish friends describe as "outrageous." HTC's first <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/Android/">Android</a> device is pretty much all over the place now -- either as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/G1/">G1</a> or the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Dream/">Dream</a> -- and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TIM/">TIM</a> is the latest to go live with it over in Italy. Like most European carriers, TIM is happy to get you a Dream for as little as &euro;0, but where it gets interesting is with the prepaid option: for &euro;429 (about $583), you can just have the darn thing outright and pay as you go. T-Mobile USA: there's a lesson to be learned here. Maybe.<br /><br />[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/android/" rel="tag">Android</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/21/htc-dream-comes-to-italys-tim-for-429-on-prepaid/">HTC Dream comes to Italy's TIM for €429 on prepaid</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 21 Mar 2009 15:07:00 EST. <div align="left">The gang over at Surveyor Robotics have introduced SRV-1 Console, an open source <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Android/">Android</a> app for operating robots based on the company's camera board and firmware. Using the G1's WiFi capabilities, the operator can access a live video feed from the robot and control the device using the handset's touchscreen and accelerometer. So far the app's been demonstrated with several robots, including the SRV-1 Blackfin, the YARB Robotic Blimp, and last but not least, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/forknife">our old friend</a> Forknife.
