If you've wanted to try EA Access on your PS4, you now have a more specific date to add to your calendar. EA plans to launch the game subscription service on Sony's console July 24th. As with with the Xbox One version, $5 per month or $30 per year will get you access to dozens of games (including recent Battlefield and EA Sports titles), pre-release trials and a 10 percent discount on purchases of game downloads. It's not an all-you-can-play service, but it might make sense if you tend to play EA's bigger titles on a regular basis.

A war between pugnacious plant-life and zealous zombies has been raging for eons – or at least since Garden Warfare launched in February on Xbox One and Xbox 360. Today, humanoid EA Access members have been invited to join the battle with the addition of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare to the service's Vault – a collection of games active subscribers have unlimited access to. Vault access to Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare also includes the DLC "Legends of the Lawn," which adds new character variants, a new mode and more. EA Access is an Xbox One-exclusive subscription service that allows players to download select games in the EA Vault for $5 a month or $30 a year. Already within the Vault are Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, Madden 25 and Need for Speed Rivals. Subscribers also get 10 percent off of most digital EA content on Xbox Live.

  • FIFA 15 booting up for EA Access members today

FIFA 15 will roll out to EA Access members on Xbox One today, five days before its arrival on retail shelves. The game is available on a limited basis before its September 23 launch much like Madden NFL 15; EA Access members will have six hours to score as many goals as they can before the early play period dries up. Hey, there's always the FIFA 15 demo that's been available for a little over a week. EA revealed its Access program in late July as a method of providing Xbox One players select games from its catalog for $5 per month or $30 per year. Earlier this month, the publisher said members poured 245,000 hours into the Madden 15 trial, amounting to over 40,000 players. EA removed Ultimate Team trade offers from FIFA 15 following revisions to its Ultimate Team abuse policies last month, which will result in permanent FIFA Online bans for coin selling and farming. The publisher removed trading from its FIFA Ultimate Team web app at that point, and multiple tweets indicate that the app is down for extended maintenance today. [Image: EA Sports]

  • Report: NHL 15's EA Access version missing options

    by

    09.06.2014

With the absence of EA Sports Hockey League and other modes from the PS4 and Xbox One versions of NHL 15, fans have spent a fair amount of time hearing about what they won't be doing on the ice. If you recall EA Access' reveal, one of the service's benefits is granting early access to games before their official launch date. Unfortunately, Operation Sports' compilation of accounts from players skating around the EA Access version of NHL 15 lists feature absences beyond what we've already heard about. In addition to the previously-confirmed absences of GM Connected, Online Team Play and Live the Life from the launch build of NHL 15, Operation Sports' report notes that Online Shootouts, Battle for the Cup, Be A Legend and EA Sports Arena are missing from NHL 15's EA Access version. Support for creating players, custom music and editing individual players is also absent, as are options for custom cameras and Action Tracker replay highlights. In the case of Be A GM, Operation Sports' report states that yearly drafts are completely automated by the CPU and that fantasy draft options are missing, with AHL games for your chosen franchise also being unplayable. In the case of Be A Pro, the choice to jump ahead by simulating matches is also gone, as are All-Star and matches outside of the NHL. It's fair (and slightly comforting) to stress that these accounts are based off NHL 15's EA Access version, meaning there's the possibility of elements changing for the launch version or in future patches. Still, considering we've already heard that several modes will sit out NHL 15's face off with its September 9 launch, wondering whether the EA Access version's absent options will eventually come into play is understandable. • Need for Speed Rivals burns rubber on EA Access soon

EA Access members will soon have another game to add to their collection: Need for Speed Rivals. The racing game will be added to the Xbox One program's "Vault" in the coming weeks, so players will be able dig in to single and multiplayer races at any time, for as long as they so desire. The service will also be rolling out to 19 more countries later this month, including Brazil and the Netherlands. EA announced its subscription service in late July, giving Xbox One players access to select games for $5 per month (or $30 for an entire year). The program also grants players early access to some games as well, such as Madden NFL 15, though only for six hours. EA says players put in 245,000 hours with the game before its release, meaning at least 40,833 players checked the game out. The publisher said it will offer six-hour trials of two more upcoming sports games: NHL 15 and FIFA 15, each available five days before their respective launches. [Image: EA]

  • EA Sports Season Ticket, Sports Arena draw to a close

EA Sports Season Ticket, a promotion that grants subscribers early access to EA's numerous sports games alongside discounts on DLC and other perks, is slated to be phased out over the course of the next two years. In an update to the Season Ticket FAQ, EA has revealed that Season Ticket subscription sales will end in March of 2015, and all Season Ticket benefits will expire in March 2016. There's good news, however, if you don't mind that the service's days are now numbered: To coincide with the announcement, EA has reduced annual subscription rates on the Season Ticket from $25 to $20. Likewise scheduled for closure is EA Sports Arena, an online matchmaking service designed to connect virtual sports fans to other like-minded players. According to its FAQ, Sports Arena support is scheduled to end in November 2014. Though EA has yet to confirm the idea, it seems likely that the publisher plans to roll these aging services into its newly-launched EA Access program. [Image: EA]

  • EA Access offers six pre-launch hours with Madden NFL 15

Those who subscribe to EA Access will be able to take to the gridiron in Madden NFL 15 before the rest of the world, but only for six hours, according to a tweet from the program's official Twitter account. It was recently revealed that prior to the August 26 debut of Madden NFL 15, EA would make the game available exclusively to Xbox One owners with EA Access subscriptions. Curious fans grilled the EA Access Twitter account for more information until it replied with the following: "EA Access memebers [sic] will have six gameplay hours with the full Madden NFL 15 game." If this sounds familiar, that's because it's not the first time EA has attempted to sell access to its pre-release sports games. The $25 annual EA Sports Season Ticket once offered players access to EA's releases three days before they hit store shelves. Unfortunately, those pre-release games stopped functioning once their physical counterparts hit retail shelves, forcing players to go out and pick up a copy of the game just to continue playing. EA Access is now available for all Xbox One users, EA has announced. The program was previously in beta for a limited number of players. EA Access is an Xbox One-exclusive subscription service that allows players to download select games in the EA Vault for $5 a month or $30 a year. The service launches with Battlefield 4, Peggle 2, FIFA 14 and Madden NFL 25. Once a game is added to The Vault, it's there for good, EA says. EA Access grants subscribers the option to play trials of new games five days before they launch, including Madden NFL 15, FIFA 15, NHL 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. Subscribers also get 10 percent off of most digital EA content on Xbox Live. [Image: EA]

EA's all-you-can-eat games service has launched, and there's a bonus if you're a fan of American Football. The developer has announced that it's only those who pay for EA Access that'll be able to play Madden NFL 15 before its launch on August 26th. Normally, of course, the company would have released a cross-platform demo to stir up demand -- but EA told Polygon that the demo was axed to keep developers focused on the main game. In addition to five days worth of early access to the title, EA Access users will be able to play FIFA 14, Battlefield 4 and Peggle 2 to their hearts content, as well as saving 10 percent on purchases of the company's games. Is that enough for you to part with your cash, or do you, like Sony, feel that the service isn't worth it?

  • Report: Madden NFL 15 demo only for EA Access buyers

There won't be a freely available demo of Madden NFL 15 for players to download this year, an EA rep has confirmed to Joystiq. The publisher made a habit of offering a downloadable demo for its annual pro football series since December 2005, when it launched the demo for Madden NFL 2006. A demo for the game will reportedly be available only to Xbox One owners that also subscribe to EA Access, according to an EA representative that spoke with Polygon. The publisher revealed EA Access in late July as an Xbox One subscription service offering full access to its games for $5 per month (or $30 per year). EA Access members also have the opportunity to play major EA releases on a limited basis up to five days before the game's launch. Madden 15 will launch August 26 for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360 and PS3 and will include strategy tutorials in its Skills Trainer mode, an "overhaul" to its defensive mechanics as well as the addition of player confidence in its franchise mode.
