Prior to heading across town to his own press event, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ASUS/">ASUS</a>' CEO (Jerry Shen) managed to show up donning a face-engulfing set of 3D glasses at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NVIDIA/">NVIDIA</a>'s shindig in downtown Taipei. Aside from congratulating NVIDIA on its successes in the 3D category, the bigwig also took time to announce a trio of new PCs. Described as "3D PCs" -- an all new designation which ensures that computers include a pair of 3D active-shutter glasses, a 120Hz 3D-capable display and a discrete graphics processor -- the company is hitting just about every computer segment save for the ultraportable, netbook and tablet PC. But for the worrywarts out there, we feel pretty safe in saying that a 3D slate is somewhere on NVIDIA's workbench. <br />
<br />
Kicking things off was the ASUS <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/30/gigantic-asus-periodical-reveals-and-specs-numerous-new-laptops/">G51Jx</a>-EE, a 3D-ready laptop that cuts out the IR emitter and relies on NVIDIA's 3D Vision active shutter glasses. Secondly, the Eee Top ET2400 provides similar capabilities on an all-in-one desktop (you know, for bedroom movie watchers). Finally, the CD5390 tower was hailed as the "world's most powerful gaming solution," equipped with a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/06/nvidia-gtx-480-makes-benchmarking-debut-matches-ati-hd-5870-per/">GeForce GTX 480</a> GPU and out-of-the-box support for a trio of 3D LCDs. Sadly, no further details on any of these rigs were shared, but we're hoping to hear more during ASUS' own presser.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update</strong>: We've learned that the Eee Top ET2400 will roll with USB 3.0 support and a 23.6-inch LCD, but the other machines are still shrouded in mystery. We'll be scraping the show floor to find out what we can. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidia-asus-3d-pc-launch-lineup-at-computex-2010/">NVIDIA / ASUS 3D PC launch lineup at Computex 2010</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidia-asus-3d-pc-launch-lineup-at-computex-2010/#3026491"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/05/nvidia-computex-2010-3d-pcs3558_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidia-asus-3d-pc-launch-lineup-at-computex-2010/#3026492"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/05/nvidia-computex-2010-3d-pcs3560_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidia-asus-3d-pc-launch-lineup-at-computex-2010/#3026493"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/05/nvidia-computex-2010-3d-pcs3562_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidia-asus-3d-pc-launch-lineup-at-computex-2010/#3026494"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/05/nvidia-computex-2010-3d-pcs3563_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidia-asus-3d-pc-launch-lineup-at-computex-2010/#3026495"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/05/nvidia-computex-2010-3d-pcs3565_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/31/nvidia-ushers-in-the-3d-pc-with-asus-g51jx-ee-eee-top-et2400/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NVIDIA ushers in the '3D PC' with ASUS G51Jx-EE, Eee Top ET2400 and CD5390</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/31/nvidia-ushers-in-the-3d-pc-with-asus-g51jx-ee-eee-top-et2400/">NVIDIA ushers in the '3D PC' with ASUS G51Jx-EE, Eee Top ET2400 and CD5390</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 31 May 2010 04:39:00 EST. And just like that, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ASUS/">ASUS</a>' 20-inch Eee Top ET2010 is leaving the docks in the UK. This here machine made its official <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/31/asuss-20-inch-et2010-eeetop-models-with-ion-power-detailed/">debut</a> back in late March, but at the time, the company dished no details surrounding price or release. Fast forward to now, and we're told that the sleek all-in-one -- complete with an AMD Athlon II CPU, 1GB or 2GB of RAM, a DVD drive and a total depth of just one inch -- is now shipping across the pond. The multitouch version gets going at &pound;619.99, which means it should start to land on American shores shortly for around $600 to $700. Here's hoping, right? <br />

You didn't think ASUS would let Acer be the only one <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/15/acer-aspire-one-532g-first-to-feature-nvidia-ion-2-switchable-gr/">with a next-generation Ion netbook</a>, did you? While wandering around ASUS's CeBIT booth we couldn't help but notice some new Ion 2 systems, including the 12.1-inch Eee PC 1201PN. With an identical chassis to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/18/asus-eee-pc-1201n-review/">1201N that we reviewed</a> a few months back, the 1201PN swaps out the Diamondville Atom for a new Pine Trail N450 processor and a discrete NVIDIA GPU. We couldn't figure out much more from the system properties, but the neighboring sign confirmed that Ion 2 would use <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/09/nvidia-optimus-automates-graphics-switching-promises-the-best-o/">NVIDIA's Optimus</a> to switch between the discrete and integrated GPU. Around the corner we also stumbled into that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/14/asus-eeetop-et2010pnt-hints-that-nvidia-ion-2-is-geforce-g310/">Eee Top 2010PNT</a> we heard about awhile back, and just as rumored it packs a dual-core Atom D510 processor along its "next generation Ion." Really more than anything we're looking forward to testing the HD performance and battery life of these new Ion systems, but until then we'll be stuck watching the video below of the 1201PN playing a 720p promo clip.<br />

While it doesn't seem to be available to order yet, ASUS' first Pine Trail-equipped nettop is close enough to release that the Taiwanese manufacturer has let some of its specs loose already. What we know so far is that it'll come with Intel's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/01/msi-wind-box-de220-displayed-and-detailed/">Atom D410</a> CPU, 802.11b/g/n wireless, six USB ports, a 5-in-1 card reader, and a webcam -- all while keeping Windows XP's dreams of immortality alive. The 1610 will be a 15.6-inch all-in-one, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/28/asus-15-6-inch-eee-top-all-in-one-now-shipping/">like its predecessor</a>, with the T model offering optional touchscreen functionality. It's hard to argue that the new Atoms offer any great <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/11/intels-atom-d510-d410-processors-get-benchmarked/">performance gains</a>, but then ASUS is not expected to charge any premium relative to its older models, making this a desirable, albeit incremental, upgrade.<br />

<div>The kids at <em>Liliputing</em> got their hands on the Asus Eee Top ET2002 all-in-one recently and were cool enough to both put it through its paces and clue us in on their findings. According to the reviewer the device, which sports a 1.6GHz Dual Core Atom 330 processor, a 20-inch / 1600 x 900 pixel display, 2GB of RAM, and a 320GB hard drive, was "impressive... in many ways." It easily handles 1080p playback and video games that would cause "most Intel-Atom based PCs to choke." Aside from the ION graphics, unfortunately, this guy comports itself like a "typical" Atom netbook: unzipping large files takes forever, boot times are slow, and the system sometimes felt overtasked when browsing the web. Then again, when you're spending less than $600 on a machine (Amazon's currently selling 'em for $581) you're going to have to make some compromises. Hit the read link to see for yourself.</div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/09/asus-eee-top-et2002-reviewed-thoroughly-enjoyed/">Asus Eee Top ET2002 reviewed, thoroughly enjoyed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 09 Oct 2009 19:29:00 EST. Looks like we've got ourselves another Windows 7 launch, folks. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/eeetop">Eee Top</a> ET2002 and ET2203, which have <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/31/video-asus-eeetop-pc-et2002t-gets-touched-up/">graced these pages</a> with their touchscreens before, have ironed out an all-too-familiar launch date (October 22nd) and some fairly competitive Europe prices, weighing in at &pound;559 and &pound;819, respectively. That's roughly $893 and $1,312 US, but usually the UK to US conversion on these is dramatically less than the true conversion rate (though we feel rather bad for the folks in the UK, in our own patronizing, American sort of way). Either way we're happy to see NVIDIA ION popping up again, and the whole concept of a low-end touchscreen PC is certainly intriguing with Windows 7 along for the ride.<br /><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/25/asus-eee-top-et2002t-and-et2203t-touchscreen-all-in-ones-land-in/">ASUS Eee Top ET2002T and ET2203T touchscreen all-in-ones land in October</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 25 Sep 2009 09:37:00 EST. After seeing rumored launch dates <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/14/asus-eee-keyboard-to-launch-by-end-of-june/">come</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/25/asus-eee-keyboard-now-on-track-for-august-launch/">go</a>, out pops another, this time from <em>DigiTimes</em> and its Taiwanese industry sources who tend to be <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/digitimes,asus">pretty accurate</a> with hometown ASUS' plans. The date? October, with a price set to run between $400 and $500. <br /><br /><em>DigiTimes</em> also claims that the NVIDIA <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/01/asus-preparing-nvidia-ion-based-eee-box-b1006/">Ion-based Eee Box</a> should arrive in September as will that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/18/asus-ion-based-eee-top-et2002t-makes-itself-known-in-france/">20-inch Eee Top</a>. <div align="left">ASUS sort of got official with its Eee Top ET2002T <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/01/nvidia-strikes-gold-with-ion-21-new-products-at-computex/">back at Computex</a> in June, but it's looks like things are now a whole lot more real in France, where <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&amp;prev=_t&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blogeee.net%2F2009%2F08%2F18%2Fle-eeetop-et2002t-20-sous-nvidia-ion-apparait-en-france%2F&amp;sl=auto&amp;tl=en&amp;history_state0=">Blogee.net</a> has gotten the pics and the complete specs of the all-in-one desktop. In addition to that all-important (and already known) Ion chipset, this one comes packing a 20-inch 1,600 x 900 display, an Atom 330 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, a DVD burner, and even an HDMI input in case you want to simply use it as a display, among some other fairly standard specs (detailed at the link below). Still no word on an official price or release over here, unfortunately, but it'll apparently be available in Europe in "several weeks" and run a not so low &euro;598, or about $845.<br /></div>

We had a hunch that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Computex/">Computex</a> would be a massive show for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NVIDIA/">NVIDIA</a>, and while we already <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/01/nvidia-ion-based-machines-start-appearing-at-computex/">caught a glimpse</a> of what the GPU manufacturer had in store, we had no idea it'd come out with guns this big a-blazin'. Showing absolutely no mercy for those other integrated graphics sets of the world, NV's today unveiled 21 new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Ion/">Ion</a>-based products in Taiwan, with all but a handful being completely unheard of. Of course, there's the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/28/acer-aspirerevo-review/">AspireRevo</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/29/nvidia-40-atom-based-ion-platforms-by-end-of-2009/">Ion 330</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/IdeaPadS12/">IdeaPad S12</a>, but outside of that select few, everything else is all new. Asus is introducing its C2N7A-I motherboard and all-in-one Eee Top ET2002, Colorful is busting out its iHTPC, ECS is pushing out a new desktop and MSI is showcasing its Windtop AE201. And that's just to name a few. Hop on past the break for the full spill, and don't stray too far -- we'll be out and about grabbing hands-on time with as many of these as we can track down.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidia-strikes-gold-with-ion-21-new-products-at-computex/">NVIDIA strikes gold with Ion: 21 new products at Computex</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidia-strikes-gold-with-ion-21-new-products-at-computex/#2048947"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/06/s12_black_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidia-strikes-gold-with-ion-21-new-products-at-computex/#2048948"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/06/funtwist_ion_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidia-strikes-gold-with-ion-21-new-products-at-computex/#2048949"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/06/acer_revo_7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidia-strikes-gold-with-ion-21-new-products-at-computex/#2048950"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/06/funtwist_ion_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidia-strikes-gold-with-ion-21-new-products-at-computex/#2048951"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/06/ion_pegatron_motherboard_f_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/01/nvidia-strikes-gold-with-ion-21-new-products-at-computex/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NVIDIA strikes gold with Ion: 21 new products at Computex</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/01/nvidia-strikes-gold-with-ion-21-new-products-at-computex/">NVIDIA strikes gold with Ion: 21 new products at Computex</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 01 Jun 2009 23:30:00 EST. Good news, pre-orderers. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ASUS/">ASUS</a>' 15.6-inch <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/03/asus-eee-top-now-available-for-pre-order-at-amazon/">Eee Top</a> all-in-one PC is now shipping from legitimate e-tailers around the web. Just in case you've forgotten just under six bills buys you a 1.6GHz Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive and Windows XP Home. In other words, netbook components tucked within an LCD. Of course, we'd recommend holding off for the much larger, much more HD-friendly <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/09/asus-showcases-hd-minded-eee-top-et2203-and-et2003/">ET2203 and ET2003</a>, but it's your loot.<br /><br />[Thanks, Jamil]<br /></div>

For a company that gets so much (deserved) guff for endless, boring product iterations, ASUS also manages to sneak in a good amount of crazy functionality -- some of it more gimmicky than others. ASUS has been doing multitouch trackpads since before they were hip, is toying with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/03/hands-on-with-asus-dual-panel-touchscreen-pc-at-cebit/">dual touchscreens</a> and is even crazy enough to build the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/21/asus-ceo-fold-unfold-laptop-will-cost-between-1-000-and-1-5/">Fold / Unfold computer</a>. Next up for the firm is voice control, with a whole team dedicated to voice recognition, and plans to ship Eee PC and Eee Top products by Q3 or Q4 of this year. According to ASUS CEO Jerry Shen they're working with third parties in this effort, so we're guessing they're not going to reinvent the voice recognition wheel. Still, it's a promising development for a line of computers that seem to suffer most when it comes to input methods -- we'll wait and see how well they pull it off.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/23/asus-promises-voice-controlled-eee-products-by-end-of-the-year/">ASUS promises voice-controlled Eee products by end of the year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 23 Mar 2009 22:21:00 EST. Amongst many, many other things at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CeBIT/">CeBIT</a>, ASUS also <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/cebit,asus">found time</a> to showcase two new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/EeeTop/">Eee Top</a> all-in-one PCs, though it completely failed to make any deal of it at all. In fact, it didn't even bother hosting up specifications placards, leaving us curious as to what these offer over the existing (and smaller) Eee Top machines. Aside from boasting 22- and 20-inch panels (respectively), <em>NotebookItalia</em> noticed that the ET2203 and ET2003 both included an HDMI socket and a Blu-ray optical drive, not to mention a natural affinity towards kitchens. We'll keep an ear to the ground for more on these in the coming weeks, but for now, you'll have to let ye old imagination handle the hard work.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-showcases-hd-minded-eee-top-et2203-and-et2003/">ASUS showcases HD-minded Eee Top ET2203 and ET2003</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-showcases-hd-minded-eee-top-et2203-and-et2003/#1419253"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-top-et_cebit_-(1)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-showcases-hd-minded-eee-top-et2203-and-et2003/#1419254"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-top-et_cebit_-(2)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-showcases-hd-minded-eee-top-et2203-and-et2003/#1419252"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/03/asus-eee-top-et_cebit__thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/09/asus-showcases-hd-minded-eee-top-et2203-and-et2003/">ASUS showcases HD-minded Eee Top ET2203 and ET2003</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 09 Mar 2009 09:36:00 EST. Been looking for an inexpensive all-in-one to unify your life, something that your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/asus-eee-top-touchscreen-pc-zombie-hands-on/">zombie slave</a> Fido could use in the kitchen to look up recipes yet would also look equally good perched on a minimalist desk? ASUS's first Eee Top could fit the bill, and it looks to be very close to US availability with the appearance of a pre-order page on Amazon.com. The 15.6-inch touchscreen model has the standard 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB of memory, and XP installed on a 160GB drive. Right now it's available in either black or white, and whether you're choosing the presence or absence of all colors you'll be asked to pay $599.99 -- naturally with free shipping available if you're not in too much of a hurry.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://eeepc.net/eee-top-up-for-pre-order-at-amazon/">Eee PC - Blog</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/03/asus-eee-top-now-available-for-pre-order-at-amazon/">ASUS Eee Top now available for pre-order at Amazon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 03 Mar 2009 15:23:00 EST. <div align="left">In a move that Acer is hoping will both increase its subsidiary's status in its native country and give the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/asus-eee-top-touchscreen-pc-zombie-hands-on/">Eee Top</a> a run for its money, Gateway's new all-in-one PC is set to hit Taiwan sometime in the near future. The Windows XP Home-based ZX2300 rocks an 18.5-inch screen up front with a 16:9 aspect ration and a 1366 x 768 resolution. Under the hood you can expect to find an AMD Athlon 2650e processor with 1GB memory, 160GB storage, Wi-Fi, webcam, and a DVD burner. No word on a street date, but lucky folks in Taiwan can expect to pay $17900 (NT) -- roughly $530 (US). Full specs after the break.</div>

It looks like ASUS is about to carve out another unexpected niche for itself with its Eee Top all-in-one PC. The 15.6-inch touchscreen coupled with ASUS' touch-friendly user interface (riding an XP / Atom N270 underpinning) and industrial design definitely looked and felt like a winner. Sure, the UI could use some more polish, and the occasional menu pull-out was positioned too close to the bezel's edge for easy touching. But we could easily see an Eee Top making its way into our lair as a secondary PC when it begins shipping Stateside in "a few weeks" -- especially for a $599 MSRP.<br />

ASUS's touchscreen <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/02/asus-finally-details-et1602-et1603-eee-top-all-in-one-pcs/">Eee Top ET1602</a> all-in-one was certainly adored in a pre-staged way by small children when it <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/20/asus-eee-top-launched-loved-by-children-and-product-waifs/">launched last month</a>, but Slashgear's taken it for a spin and found that it actually deserves the love. The 15.6-inch resistive touchscreen wasn't on par with the capacitive screen in <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/touchsmart">HP's TouchSmart</a> or the active digitizer in newer tablet PCs, but it did the job, and ASUS's Windows XP "Easy Mode" launcher and bundled touch apps were intuitive and friendly, although certain apps would drop back into XP's mouse-oriented interface at times. Under the hood, the netbook-class 1.6GHz Atom, 1GB of RAM, and GMA950 graphics didn't rock anyone's world, but they managed general browsing and 720p video playback without issue. All in all, it seems like ASUS has built an interesting little AIO for the expected US price of $450 -- now if they'd just start shipping them here, we'd find out for ourselves. Like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/eee%20top">Eee Top</a> all-in-one PC but 15.6-inches is just too wee for your taste? Fine, you'll have the chance to grapple with 20- and 22-inchers, according to ASUS CEO Jerry Shen, sometime in the first half of 2009. Drop <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/07/microsoft-mistakenly-reveals-2009-launch-target-for-windows-7-a/">Windows 7</a> into these touchscreen monuments to mediocrity and we're in.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/21/asus-eee-top-climbing-to-20-and-22-inches-by-june/">ASUS Eee Top climbing to 20- and 22-inches by June</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 21 Nov 2008 03:25:00 EST. Our brothers in gadgetry over at <em>Engadget Chinese</em> are at ASUS' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/eee%20top">Eee Top</a> unveiling in Taipei. They've already been hands-on with the 15.6-inch all-in-one touchscreen PC and consider the build quality to be "ok," consistent with the traditional (read: non-<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/s101">S101</a>) Eee PC netbooks. And while it includes an "Easy Mode" UI that runs on top of XP, launch anything other than an ASUS-built application and you're right back into XP's less finger-friendly interface. That's where the included stylus (hidden in the keyboard) comes into play. We also have a price: 18,900 Taiwanese dollars which is a tax inclusive price of about $580 in the US. It's available today in ASUS' home of Taiwan -- everyone else will have to wait for their local announcements. 'Till then, pics, plenty of pics. <br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: Today's announcement is only for model <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/et1602">ET1602</a>. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/et1603">ET1603</a> with better graphics and battery (whose existence is in dispute based on contradictory <a href="http://www.cio.com/article/464318/Asustek_to_Launch_IMac_Rival_in_Taipei_on_Thursday">press reports</a> and <a href="http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=24&amp;l2=169&amp;l3=0&amp;l4=0&amp;model=2629&amp;modelmenu=1">product specs</a>) is still not available.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Update 2</span>: Added ASUS promotional video after the break -- only thing it's missing is <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/20/nokia-n96-bruce-lee-edition-the-only-thing-tougher-than-chuck-n/">Bruce Lee</a>. Can you feel it? That dull sense of ennui isn't the result of the diminished hours of daylight, oh no, it's the sensation of the<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/eee%20top"> Eee Top</a>'s imminent launch in Taipei. ASUS has a news conference scheduled for Thursday to out the ET1602 and ET1603 XP PCs into the wonderfully erect world of all-in-ones. Something we've been expecting <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/30/asus-extending-eee-brand-to-desktops-tvs-and-all-in-one-pcs/">since January</a> of this year when we first heard about ASUS' Eee branding promiscuity. We're still looking at 15.6-inches of touchscreen LCD, a 160GB hard disk, 802.11n WiFi, a pair of 4-watt speakers, and 1.3 megapixel webcam all propped up by a tepid 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor -- a CPU that ASUS knows a thing or two about. The ET1603 packs a better ATI HD3450 graphics card and battery for 4.4-kilograms (9.7-pounds) of luggable PC. We'll have to wait for the pricing and country details but we can speculate that it'll arrive in the US pronto after seeing its wireless (EK-C2) keyboard slip through the FCC yesterday. If you've paid any attention to the release cycle of ASUS' Eee Top, you'd have noticed by now that things have been done in quite the unorthodox way. Although we've already learned most <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/17/video-asus-eee-top-gets-touched-chatted-about/">everything we need to know</a> from buyers in <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/13/asus-all-in-one-touchscreen-pc-up-for-pre-order-in-the-uk/">global markets</a>, ASUS has finally seen fit to do us English-speaking folk a solid and host up official detail sites for both the ET1602 and ET1603. Both rigs boast a 15.6-inch touchscreen LCD, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 160GB 5,400RPM hard drive, 1.3-megapixel webcam, gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n WiFi, a pair of stereo speakers, two USB 2.0 ports, a multicard reader, audio in / out and a swank carry handle for lugging it around. The only difference between the two flavors is the GPU; the ET1602 includes an integrated graphics set, while the ET1603 packs a discrete ATI Mobility Radeon HD3450. Per usual, ASUS isn't dishing out any further pricing / release deets, but most everything else you could ever want to know (about the pair, not life or taxes) is just a click or two away.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.i4u.com/article21316.html">I4U News</a>]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=24&amp;l2=169&amp;l3=0&amp;l4=0&amp;model=2290&amp;modelmenu=1">Read</a> - Eee Top ET1602 <br /><a href="http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=24&amp;l2=169&amp;l3=0&amp;l4=0&amp;model=2629&amp;modelmenu=1">Read</a> - Eee Top ET1603<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/02/asus-finally-details-et1602-et1603-eee-top-all-in-one-pcs/">ASUS finally details ET1602 / ET1603 Eee Top all-in-one PCs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 02 Nov 2008 10:23:00 EST. A statement likely to make a few project managers at Microsoft uncomfortable as that cuts into the official <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/13/microsoft-finally-confirms-windows-7-for-2010-launch/">early 2010</a> padding built into their Win7 Gantt charts. The touch-enabled Eee PC model(s) could come in the form of a convertible tablet although Shen wouldn't specify -- he only promised more details in Q1, presumably at CES. Unsurprisingly, ASUS has no plans to put Vista onto Eee PCs at all. Also noteworthy is the introduction of "more exciting" Eee PC rigs in Q1 and Q2 in prices ranging from $250 (yes, $250) to $700. Steadily <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/16/eee-pc-turns-one-year-old-slides-under-the-300-barrier-to-cele/">inching closer</a> to that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/22/hey-asus-wheres-the-199-eee-pc/">ellusive $199 Eee PC</a>. <br /><br />Other interesting points from the interview: <br />
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/17/video-asus-eee-top-gets-touched-chatted-about/">Eee Top</a> all-in-one PC will be released at the end of this month </li>
    <li><a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/eee%20stick">EeeStick</a> (and compatible games) is to be released soon as both an Eee PC bundle and as a separate accessory (depending upon country) priced somewhere between $50 and $100 <br /></li>
    <li>Two new "Eee products" (not Eee PCs if we read this correctly) will be announced in January <br /></li>
    <li>Eee PC devices will be limited to 10-inch, and smaller displays -- Shen describes the netbook as a platform to consume content whereas a laptop is for creating content </li>
    <li>ASUS is focused on improving battery life and startup times on future Eee PCs -- adding more power, like dual-core Atoms, is not a priority</li>

We haven't heard too much about ASUS' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/13/asus-all-in-one-touchscreen-pc-up-for-pre-order-in-the-uk/">all-in-one touchscreen PC</a> on this side of the drink, but folks overseas are apparently having a field day with it. For your eyes only comes a hands-on / impressions vid showing off the user interface, the design and the overall touchability of the so-called Eee Top. Not too many surprises are in store, but you've got to watch for the accent if nothing else. It's after the break, of course.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/17/video-asus-eee-top-gets-touched-chatted-about/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: ASUS Eee Top gets touched, chatted about</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/17/video-asus-eee-top-gets-touched-chatted-about/">Video: ASUS Eee Top gets touched, chatted about</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 17 Oct 2008 09:02:00 EST.
