	<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/asus-eee-pad-memo-me171-me370t-and-high-end-transformer-prime-t/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/me370t-lead.jpg" style="border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; margin: 4px;" /></a></div>
Flustered with the original <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/asus-eee-pad-transformer-prime-review/">Transformer Prime</a> you just purchased? We'd advise you to have a seat. ASUS just took the wraps off an all <i>new</i> Transformer Prime (the TF700T) here at CES, which is presumably designed to rival Acer's newly-announced <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/08/acer-iconia-tab-a700-hands-on/">Iconia Tab A700</a>. Notably, this guy won't be an outright replacement for the existing <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/04/transformer-prime-gets-mysteriously-and-imperiously-benchmarked/">TF201</a> model; it's simply an upmarket alternative for those tired of the same specs over and over again. Speaking of, let's dive under the hood of this one, shall we? It's a 10.1-incher with NVIDIA's Tegra 3 within (1.3GHz quad-core Cortex A9), a Super IPS+ / Gorilla Glass 10.1-inch display with a downright silly 1,920 x 1,200 resolution (watch out, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/08/lenovo-lepad-k2010-ideatab-k2-hands-on/">Lenovo</a>!) and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage space. There's also an 8 megapixel rear camera / 2 megapixel front-facing cam, support for 1080p playback, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a micro-HDMI port, microSD card reader, a 25WHr Lithium-Polymer battery and a chassis that weighs just over a pound. It'll ship with Android 4.0.1 onboard (yeah, that's Ice Cream Sandwich), and will be compatible with the exact same keyboard dock as the existing Prime. Needless to say, ASUS is aiming for the stars with a build sheet like this, and the $599 to $699 retail price points enable you to know it. It'll land next quarter here in North America, and no, there's no <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/02/asus-transformer-prime-v8-8-3-33-update-gps-performance/">GPS functionality</a> listed on the spec sheet after the break; though we've been informed that this new Prime will come with a new back panel design (pictured after the break) that should enhance WiFi, BT and GPS performance.<br />
<br />
Moving onto more diminutive offerings, the Eee Pad MeMO (ME171) that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/28/asus-eee-pad-memo-and-memic-hands-on-video/">we saw</a> months ago is getting a formal reveal here in Las Vegas, boasting a 7-inch WXGA (1,280 x 800) IPS capacitive touchpanel, a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm 8260 processor, a gigabyte of memory, 16GB / 32GB of storage, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a 1.2 megapixel front / 5 megapixel rear camera (with 1080p recording), an A-GPS sensor, gyroscope, proximity sensor and a micro-USB port. There's a 4,400mAh Li-polymer battery reportedly good for some 8.5 hours of video playback, and it'll be Android 4.0.1 running the show. The unit checks in with dimensions of 7.8- x 4.6- x 0.50-inches (and a weight of 14.2 ounces), and while mum's the word on price (sadly), it'll supposedly ship in Q2 to North American adobes.<br />

The ASUS news, it just keeps on flowin'. Shortly after getting a sneak peek at the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/02/asus-eee-pc-flare-leaked-ahead-of-ces-amd-and-intel-models-prom/">Eee PC Flare</a>, in flies yet another leaked image of yet another leaked ASUS product. This go 'round, we're looking at what's purportedly the 7-inch Eee Memo Pad, a handy little fellow that we've actually heard about <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/04/asus-eee-pad-memo-tablet-takes-a-pen-out-of-the-couriers-book/">before</a>. We're told that it'll ship with a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 16GB to 64GB of internal storage space, built-in 3G, WiFi and a 1,280 x 800 screen resolution, and it's apt to be revisited at CES 2012 before launching as an Asia-only product later in the year. It's hard to say what edition of Android will pop up when this is formally unveiled next week at CES, but we're guessing that it'll stick its tongue out at the long-awaited <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Padfone/">Padfone</a> as it's introduced, regardless.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/02/7-inch-asus-eee-memo-pad-gets-leaked-1-2ghz-dual-core-snapdrago/">7-inch ASUS Eee Memo Pad gets leaked, 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon inside</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 02 Jan 2012 11:11:00 EST. Choosing is hard. And in the case of ASUS' forthcoming <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/netbook/">netbook</a> line, totally not necessary. Just days after Intel snuck out <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/28/intel-starts-shipping-atom-n2600-n2800-processors-ten-hours-of/">details</a> surrounding the next generation of its Atom line, out flows shots and information about what'll undoubtedly be one of the first next-gen netbooks to use 'em. The Eee PC Flare line is expected to supplant the long-standing <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/26/asus-eee-pc-1008ha-seashell-review/">Seashell</a> range at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, with a smattering of models to be lining ASUS' booth. Outside of lively, sleeker exteriors, we're told to expect models with the new N2600 and N2800 Atom CPU line, a 12-incher powered by AMD's Fusion APU line and the token chiclet-style keyboard that we've all grown used to. It's also possible that we'll see revised 10-inchers alongside the big boys, with the 1225B, 1225C, 1025C and 1025CE named in particular. Naturally, we'll be bringing you more as we get it. Oh, and "netbooks are back, baby!"<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/02/asus-eee-pc-flare-leaked-ahead-of-ces-amd-and-intel-models-prom/">ASUS Eee PC Flare leaked ahead of CES, AMD and Intel models promised</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 02 Jan 2012 10:06:00 EST. We've been waiting for ASUS to launch its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/30/asus-brings-out-extra-skinny-eee-pc-x101-running-meego-hands-on/">Eee PC X101</a> for the better part of a year, and it looks like the wait is almost over. The slim, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/28/asus-eee-pc-x101-product-page-goes-live-still-no-release-date/">MeeGo-running netbook</a> has popped up on two online retailers' sites with price tags just above the company's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/27/slim-asus-eee-pc-x101-to-hit-shelves-next-month/">promised $199 positioning</a>. Despite earlier <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/27/slim-asus-eee-pc-x101-to-hit-shelves-next-month/">rumors of a July launch</a>, the ultraportable has managed to slip through the cracks of summer, and most likely will debut this fall -- although, no official release has been mentioned. If you're eager to get your pre-order on for this single-core 1.33GHz Atom N435 netbook, you can snag it at Amazon for $227, or CDW for a more attractive $210. Those holding out hope for its pricier, Windows 7 brother -- the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/03/asus-meego-flavored-eee-pc-x101h-goes-under-the-fccs-knife/">X101H</a> -- will just have to sit this one out.<br />

Still no official launch date for Asus's funny-looking 10.1-inch hybrid, but we've already seen <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/14/asus-eee-pad-slider-shows-off-its-specs-may-launch-in-september/">evidence</a> of a September release and now there's a whole drum-roll of pre-order pages up at Amazon. You're looking at $580 for the 32GB model in white or mocha, or $100 less if you settle for the 16GB variant and cram the rest of your digital possessions onto microSD or -- yes indeedy -- some USB 2.0 external storage. Needless to say, all shades come with the same Tegra 2 processor, Honeycomb 3.2, 1GB of RAM, Mini HDMI out, a 5MP rear camera and 1.2MP front-facer. At this point, all these sliders need to do is turn up.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> Looks like Amazon pulled those pages and spoiled our fun.<br />

We know you've got questions, and if you're brave enough to ask the world for answers, here's the outlet to do so. This week's <a href="http://ask.engadget.com/">Ask Engadget</a> inquiry is coming to us from Pete, who reckons a tablet + keyboard combo will be best for his future note-taking. If you're looking to send in an inquiry of your own, drop us a line at <strong><em>ask [at] engadget [dawt] com</em></strong>.<br />

		<em>"I will be attending college next year and figured that getting a tablet + keyboard combination to take to class instead of a netbook or small laptop would be a better idea. I was looking into getting the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, but my grandparents gave me an iPad 2 as a graduation present. A friend of mine is considering getting the Transformer, but doesn't want to pay $150 for a keyboard dock. Both of us will be using our tablets for essentially the same purpose and we were both wondering what the best wireless keyboard was for a tablet. Thanks!"</em></p>
</blockquote>
We've definitely tested our fair share of tablet-focused keyboards, but none of 'em have actually struck us as ideal. The newly-released Lenovo Folio case is a gem, but alas, only functions with the ThinkPad Tablet. So, bright minds -- any ideas for Pete and his pal? Drop 'em in comments below.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/20/ask-engadget-best-wireless-keyboard-for-tablet-use/">Ask Engadget: best wireless keyboard for tablet use?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 20 Aug 2011 22:19:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/12/asus-eee-pad-transformer-and-slider-another-look/">ASUS' Eee Pad Slider</a> is fast becoming just as mythical as the flying horse the company's named after. We've had several encounters with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/08/asus-delays-eee-pad-slider-stretches-the-definition-of-soon/">potential release</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/27/asus-eee-pad-slider-going-on-sale-soon-price-is-still-anyone/">windows</a> for the slate, only to see it continually <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/01/asus-eee-slider-update-16gb-gone-32gb-model-in-september-3g-e/">creep back into fall</a>. Well, judging by a recent report from <em>Notebook Italia</em> and the tab's new product page, it looks like we may actually see a September launch for the 10.1-incher -- in Italy. Contrary to prior rumors, the company <em>will be</em> offering the Slider in two storage configurations -- 16GB and 32GB at potential &euro;479 and &euro;599 price points overseas, while $400 and $550 models should hit the US. We've also got a slew of official specs for the Honeycomb-based device, which should ship with Android 3.1 installed, with a promised 3.2 upgrade to follow. The QWERTYfied tablet packs a 1280 x 800 WXGA display, dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of memory, 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera, 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, USB 2.0, mini-HDMI, microSD card reader, WiFi and Bluetooth. The company's also thrown in one year of "unlimited ASUS Web Storage" for your cloud computing needs. Will the electronics maker finally commit to a concrete launch for the Slider? We'll find out in a month's time.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/14/asus-eee-pad-slider-shows-off-its-specs-may-launch-in-september/">ASUS Eee Pad Slider shows off its specs, may launch in September</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 14 Aug 2011 11:16:00 EST. It arrived but a few months ago, and already ASUS' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/18/asus-eee-pad-transformer-uk-edition-review/">Eee Pad Transformer</a> has been eclipsed by quite a few of its Android-toting brethren. That said, it's still one of the most uniquely designed Android slates on the market, and those who believe in it seem to be unshakably loyal. If we had to guess, we'd say ASUS is already well on its way to conjuring up the second generation of this here tablet, and we'd love for you to telepathically send over a few tips on how to do it best. Or, you know, drop your suggestions in comments. Would you up the screen resolution? Change the aspect ratio? Tweak the matching dock? Tone down that glossy finish? The floor's yours.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/07/how-would-you-change-asus-eee-pad-transformer/">How would you change ASUS' Eee Pad Transformer?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 07 Aug 2011 22:33:00 EST. Back when we introduced you to the MeeGo-packing <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/30/asus-brings-out-extra-skinny-eee-pc-x101-running-meego-hands-on/">ASUS Eee PC X101</a>, we noted that its brother, the X101H, would also be available, albeit with Windows 7 onboard. Well, the X101H has just made its way through the FCC and it looks like ASUS has decided to ditch the brother-from-another-mother scheme, and offer the X101's chubbier -- it's 22mm thick compared to 17.6mm -- sibling with MeeGo, as well. Like it's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Eee+PC+X101H/">svelte little bro</a>, the X101H is expected to pack a single-core Intel Atom N435 processor, 1GB DDR3 RAM, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, and a 10.1-inch WSVGA screen. If you like your netbooks with a little extra cushion, check out our gallery of teardown photos below, or hit the source link for a slew of FCC paperwork.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-x101h-fcc/">ASUS Eee PC X101H FCC</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-x101h-fcc/#4342242"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/08/asus-eeepcx101hfcc-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-x101h-fcc/#4342264"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/08/asus-eeepcx101hfcc-21_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-x101h-fcc/#4342243"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/08/asus-eeepcx101hfcc-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-x101h-fcc/#4342254"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/08/asus-eeepcx101hfcc-12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-x101h-fcc/#4342252"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/08/asus-eeepcx101hfcc-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/03/asus-meego-flavored-eee-pc-x101h-goes-under-the-fccs-knife/">ASUS' MeeGo-flavored Eee PC X101H goes under the FCC's knife</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 03 Aug 2011 19:46:00 EST. But alas, the Eee Slider from ASUS is easily one of the most anticipated Honeycomb tablets around, and our unending love for the since-departed <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/14/o2-launches-htc-advantage-as-xda-flint-curiously-aims-at-educat/">HTC Advantage</a> ensures that the flame for this guy will keep burning, too. Just a few weeks after hearing from ASUS' UK branch that the Slider was being <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/08/asus-delays-eee-pad-slider-stretches-the-definition-of-soon/">delayed</a> until 'autumn,' in flies word from The Netherlands that we may be able to fix our gaze on September. Based on reports from <i>Tablets Magazine</i>, the 16GB model will be canned altogether in favor of a lone 32 gigger, which should sell for &euro;499 across the pond. As for the 3G-enabled variant? We aren't apt to see that surface until Q1 2012. It's tough to pinpoint the reason for the holdup, but our guess is software -- earlier in the week, a hands-on video emerged showcasing the Slider with Android 3.1, paying particular attention to the newfound USB accessory support. Have a gander at the video just past the break, and feel free to console one another in comments.<br />

<strong>Update</strong>: Seems that ASUS' Polish arm <a href="http://www.facebook.com/ASUS.Polska/posts/10150252637394332?notif_t=feed_comment">thinks</a> that the 16GB model may ship in that corner of the world. Hmm... maybe these folks should start talking to one another.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/01/asus-eee-slider-update-16gb-gone-32gb-model-in-september-3g-e/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>ASUS Eee Slider update: 32GB model in September, 3G edition in 2012</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/01/asus-eee-slider-update-16gb-gone-32gb-model-in-september-3g-e/">ASUS Eee Slider update: 32GB model in September, 3G edition in 2012</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 01 Aug 2011 03:34:00 EST. ASUS has gone and made its super svelte Eee PC X101 official with a dedicated product page live on its site. We'd already gotten our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/30/asus-brings-out-extra-skinny-eee-pc-x101-running-meego-hands-on/">hands-on</a> with the crimson-colored ultraportable, but now there's a whole list of specs to flesh out this 920g wonder. The MeeGo-running netbook's rocking a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 display, 1.33 GHz Intel Atom N435 (or N455) processor, 8GB SSD, Bluetooth, WiFi, SDHC card support and USB 2.0. Oh, and did we mention this 17.6 millimeter thin beauty comes in three shades of awesome? That's right, when this $199 netbook finally <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/27/slim-asus-eee-pc-x101-to-hit-shelves-next-month/">hits retailers' shelves</a>, you can also snag it in white and brown (a Zune homage, we presume). There's still no word on just <em>when</em> this slight badboy's going to be available, but at least you now have a place to go and drool in anticipation.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/28/asus-eee-pc-x101-product-page-goes-live-still-no-release-date/">ASUS Eee PC X101 product page goes live, still no release date</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 28 Jul 2011 19:05:00 EST. That promised May release for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/eeepadslider">Eee Pad Slider</a> shifted to a rather more ambiguous "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/27/asus-eee-pad-slider-going-on-sale-soon-price-is-still-anyone/">soon</a>" a little over a month ago, and now we're sad to report it's moving further back still. ASUS has an update on its UK Facebook profile indicating that the QWERTYfied tablet will now be shipping there sometime this Autumn, taking this extra time to throw up some surveys and better "understand what is important for our customers." That sounds dangerously close to the company's feet getting a little cold as it prepares to launch the most interestingly designed Honeycomb slab we've yet seen, but maybe if everybody leaves some encouraging comments we can get this reluctant bride out of the limo and down the aisle, already.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/08/asus-delays-eee-pad-slider-stretches-the-definition-of-soon/">ASUS delays Eee Pad Slider, stretches the definition of 'soon'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 08 Jul 2011 07:47:00 EST. That super thin <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/30/asus-brings-out-extra-skinny-eee-pc-x101-running-meego-hands-on/">Eee PC X101</a> that we manhandled back at Computex is just about ready to make its retail debut. Starting in July you'll be able to pick up one of these <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/meego">MeeGo</a>-running crimson clamshells for $199 or, if you're a fan of desktop apps, Windows 7 versions (X101H) starting at $310. Inside the base model you'll find a 1.33GHz, single-core Atom N435, a six-cell battery, and a small SSD (probably of the 16GB variety). Unfortunately, the two most important details -- can it <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/01/hp-exec-cuts-birthday-cake-with-macbook-air/">cut a cake</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/willitblend">will it blend</a> -- remain unanswered.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/27/slim-asus-eee-pc-x101-to-hit-shelves-next-month/">Slim ASUS Eee PC X101 to hit shelves next month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Jun 2011 09:47:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">
	We're sure you heard <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/03/supply-chain-issues-limit-asus-eee-pad-transformer-production-t/">the rumors</a> when hanging out in your ASUS fanboy haunts, wearing your ASUS logo hats and medallions, talking your crazy ASUS lingo with your fellow ASUS scenesters. Or maybe you thought something was up when <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/26/asus-eee-pad-transformer-goes-on-sale-in-us-immediately-sells-o/">Amazon sold out</a> immediately. Either way, there has been plenty of chatter in the gadgetsphere as of late about the Eee Pad Transformer. Why is it so hard to find? Are component shortages to blame? Quality control issues? We've heard plenty of speculation, and now ASUSTek spokesperson David Chang is weighing in on the matter. According to <em>Netbook News</em>, the company has seen overwhelming demand for the device, and is currently planning to put 100,000 units on the street in May, followed by an additional 200,000-plus in June. "If the demand continues to increase substantially," said Chan, "then we will have to continue to ramp up production in order to fulfill our customers' demand." You know, that's exactly what we would do if we were in that situation!</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/06/asus-eee-pad-transformer-delays-due-to-demand-not-component-sh/">ASUS: Eee Pad Transformer delays due to demand, not component shortages</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 06 May 2011 10:09:00 EST. So, it seems that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/18/asus-eee-pad-transformer-uk-edition-review/">ASUS' Eee Pad Transformer</a> has been <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/26/asus-eee-pad-transformer-goes-on-sale-in-us-immediately-sells-o/">hard to find</a>, at least in part due to reasons other than customer demand. According to <em>Netbook News</em>, the Taiwanese company is having trouble sourcing the supplies needed to build the tablet / keyboard combo in sufficient numbers. For now, that means only 10,000 Transformers a month -- a fraction of the 300,000 ASUS was reportedly hoping to make. Word on the web suggests components in greater quantities are coming soon, and production will ramp up significantly in June. Until then, would-be owners will have to go the beg, borrow, or steal route to get one. Investing in a horseshoe or four-leaf clover might not be a bad idea, either.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/03/supply-chain-issues-limit-asus-eee-pad-transformer-production-t/">Supply chain issues limit ASUS' Eee Pad Transformer production to 10,000 a month?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 03 May 2011 00:24:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">Well, as far as delays go, this is looking like one that ASUS is willing to accept. As the company explains on its Facebook page, demand for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/transformer">Eee Pad Transformer</a> has apparently been so high that the first few batches have sold out "much quicker' than it had planned. That's left the global launch for the Honeycomb tablet a bit up in the air, with the company only directing folks to its Facebook pages for individual countries for more information, although they unfortunately aren't providing much in the way of details at the moment. <br />
<br />
That delay apparently won't affect the US launch, though -- at least not to any significant degree. According to the upstart website <em>JoannaStern.com</em>, the Transformer will be hitting the US by the end of this month with a price tag of $399, while the keyboard dock will run you $149. Could we possibly be seeing the beginnings of a tablet <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/08/acers-iconia-tab-a500-soaks-up-the-wifi-rays-hits-shelves-apri/">price war</a>? Here's hoping.<br />

We've heard a fair amount of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/21/asus-to-debut-eee-pad-transformer-in-taiwan-this-friday-honeyco/">rumors</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/18/motorola-xoom-lg-optimus-pad-acer-iconia-a100-and-asus-eee-pad/">speculation</a> about the impending release of ASUS' latest and, perhaps, craziest new slates, and now its giving us the real details -- for the UK at least. The wildly unique <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/21/asus-to-debut-eee-pad-transformer-in-taiwan-this-friday-honeyco/">Eee Pad Transformer</a>, the first of its kind rocking Honeycomb, is up for pre-order now, with an official release date of April 6th and a price of &pound;379 for the 16GB version and &pound;429 for the 32GB version, each on its lonesome -- you can get the 16GB iteration with the docking keyboard for &pound;429 . Its less flashy companion, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/04/asus-eee-slate-ep121-officially-unveiled-ips-display-core-i5-a/">Eee Slate EP121</a>, sporting Windows 7 and an Intel Core i5 processor, hits Britain April 10th for &pound;999, and is ready for pre-order exclusively through Amazon UK through May 1st. Unfortunately, we're still not sure when they'll cross the pond or how much they'll cost when they get here, but we're still <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/21/asus-to-debut-eee-pad-transformer-in-taiwan-this-friday-honeyco/">fairly certain</a> the Transformer's coming sometime next month.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/30/asus-eee-pad-transformer-and-eee-slate-ep121-get-official-uk-pri/">ASUS Eee Pad Transformer and Eee Slate EP121 get official UK pricing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 30 Mar 2011 15:24:00 EST. Okay, picture an ASUS Eee PC 1015. Got it? Good -- now picture it with <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/amd,fusion">AMD Fusion</a> internals. Boom: the 1015B is born. We spied versions in both white and black trim here at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CeBIT/">CeBIT</a>, promising 1080p output in your choice of 1.2GHz single-core and 1GHz dual-core APUs, both with ATI Radeon HD 6250 graphics, 1GB of RAM (expandable to 2), and Bluetooth 3.0 along with 802.11b/g/n WiFi. If you're looking for something a little beefier, ASUS has a Fusion remake of the 1215, too -- the 1215B -- with many of the same features but the added benefit of a larger 12.1-inch WXGA LCD, an optional 1.6GHz AMD E350 dual-core processor, and up to 4GB of RAM. No word on when these will be in retail channels, but by all appearances, these are production or very-near-production models on display here at the show, so we imagine they'll be popping up any time now.<br />

Egads, ASUS, has it really come to this? The company synonymous with netbooks needs to seriously rethink its product strategy if it believes that its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/17/asus-teases-eee-pc-sirocco-promises-to-make-more-waves-than-a-v/">Eee PC "Sirocco" truly deserved a teaser</a> <em>and</em> launch event -- two marketing ploys typically reserved for items of high consumer interest. Turns out that its "making waves" tag line was (as we feared) just a coat of texturized purple, gold, or pink paint applied to the company's otherwise bland 10.1-inch <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/14/asus-busts-out-dual-core-eee-pc-1015pem-netbook/">Eee PC 1015PEM</a> netbook that runs Windows 7 Starter on a dual-core Atom N550 CPU. An embarrassing slab of meh in the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/17/hp-pavilion-dm1z-with-amd-fusion-review/">age of Fusion</a>. Even worse, we already saw the "new" Eee PC 1015PW announced in some official capacity <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/24/asus-eee-pc-1015pw-peeks-out-of-hiding-with-dual-core-atom-roya/">back in October</a>. Apparently, when you offer <em>over 30 models</em> of 10-inch Eee PCs this is the only way to get any attention. We're still catching up on sleep after leaving <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ces2011">CES</a>, but <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/asus">ASUS</a> is tireless, winding up for another product release, something new it calls the Eee PC Sirocco. We have nothing to go by at this point other than the teaser image above, which promises this new product is going to be "making waves" when it is released. This metaphorical euphemism could mean anything from a revolutionary new architecture that will sweep across the industry to another netbook with some funny textures on it. If forced to bet we'd put more money on the latter than the former but, as we mentioned, we simply aren't in Vegas any more and so won't be engaging in such shenanigans.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/17/asus-teases-eee-pc-sirocco-promises-to-make-more-waves-than-a-v/">Asus teases Eee PC Sirocco, promises to make more waves than a VW coupe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 17 Jan 2011 07:47:00 EST. Haven't had enough <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ces2011">CES titillation</a> yet? Good. ASUS has apparently been up to some mischief overnight in uploading and then pulling a new version of its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/23/asus-teases-12-inch-eee-slate-ep121-again/">teaser video</a> from a week ago, though this time it also included explicit product names attached to some quite informative diagrams. It looks to be the full family of upcoming CES tablets, with the EP121 touting stylus input and a wireless keyboard, the EP102 showing that there will indeed be a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/28/asus-teases-eee-pad-and-eee-slate-ahead-of-ces-launch/">slider</a> in ASUS' Pad family, and the EP101 looking like, well, a laptop. There's also a media-centric EP71, whose proportions make it seem likely to be a sort of oversized PMP. Skip past the break for a closer look at them all and don't forget to grace our comments with your theory as to why ASUS feels compelled to have such a segmented product offering.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/30/asus-ep121-ep102-ep101-and-ep71-tablets-get-diagramed-in-late/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>ASUS EP121, EP102, EP101, and EP71 tablets get diagramed in latest teaser</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/30/asus-ep121-ep102-ep101-and-ep71-tablets-get-diagramed-in-late/">ASUS EP121, EP102, EP101, and EP71 tablets get diagramed in latest teaser</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 30 Dec 2010 10:32:00 EST. Remember how confusing it was back in May when ASUS introduced a bunch of tablets it called <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/31/asus-eee-pad-official-intel-culv-processors-windows-7-and-a-1/">Pads</a> and a sort of digital notepad it called a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/31/asus-eee-tablet/">Tablet</a>? At least some of that messy naming scheme has now been rectified thanks to the merciful renaming of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/15/asus-eee-tablet-renamed-will-head-to-market-in/">Eee Tablet</a> to the new Eee Note EA800 moniker. It's still the same 8-inch (768 x 1024) monochrome display, offering 64 levels of gray and 256 levels of pressure sensitivity, backed by 4GB of integrated storage, a 2 megapixel camera, voice recorder, and built-in stylus silo. WiFi is of course a given, and there's a microSD slot and a 3700mAh battery somewhere inside that matte black shell as well. If things do go to plan this time, we should be seeing plenty more of the Eee Note at January's CES. We're penciling it in already.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/23/asus-eee-note-is-the-surprisingly-sensible-new-name-for-the-eee/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>ASUS Eee Note is the surprisingly sensible new name for the Eee Tablet</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/23/asus-eee-note-is-the-surprisingly-sensible-new-name-for-the-eee/">ASUS Eee Note is the surprisingly sensible new name for the Eee Tablet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 23 Nov 2010 05:31:00 EST. If you'll recall, we spotted ASUS' Eee PC 1015T <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/06/asus-eee-pc-1015t-strolls-into-computex-with-amd-v105-we-thin/">sittin' pretty at Computex</a>, but considering that the OS was wiped by the time we got to it, we were left to take the placard's word for it when it came to specifications. Now, <i>B&amp;H</i> has begun to offer this bad boy here in the States, with $349.99 nabbing you a 1.2GHz AMD V105 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 250GB (5400RPM) hard drive, ATI's Mobility Radeon HD 4250, a 10.1-inch LED-backlit panel, inbuilt webcam, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, a 32-bit copy of Windows 7 Starter and a six-cell battery. All told, it rings up at 2.8 pounds and should last anywhere between three and six hours on a full charge, but we're guessing real-world performance will swing towards the former. It's available right now in blue, black and white, and if you're looking for a way to stick it to Intel's sluggish Atom line, here it is.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/04/asus-eee-pc-1015t-now-on-sale-complete-with-amd-v105-cpu/">ASUS Eee PC 1015T now on sale, complete with AMD V105 CPU</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 04 Nov 2010 20:27:00 EST. It was <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/01/asus-lamborghini-vx6-and-vx7-peel-out-with-nvidia-ion-2-and-core/">introduced</a> way back in June, but it looks as if ASUS has just now gotten its ducks in a row with regard to this speedster. The 12.1-inch Lamborghini Eee PC VX6 is now shipping across the pond, offering an Intel Atom D525 processor, NVIDIA Optimus graphics and Bang &amp; Olufsen audio. It's available from a host of retailers for &pound;499 ($798), and there's precisely zero doubt that you'll be buying one. Because, you know -- nothing goes together quite like bargain basement hardware and elitist branding, right? Bonus vid is after the break, if you're so inclined.<br />

It was <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/26/asus-prepping-eee-pc-1015pn-pme-versions-with-new-dual-core-atom/">rumored</a> back in August for a September release and, though it did miss that by a full month, we're definite believers of "Better late than never." The ASUS 1015PN is officially the newest entry in the Eee PC family with its 10.1-inch, 1024 x 600 LCD, a dual-core Atom <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/atom,n550">N550</a> processor, 1GB of RAM, 250GB of platter-based storage, and, perhaps most importantly, NVIDIA <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nvidia,ion2">Ion 2</a> graphics that won't put a hurting on your battery life thanks to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nvidia,optimus">Optimus</a> switching tech. That means an estimated 9.5 hours of longevity on a charge so long as you don't spend your time pumping out reams of legally acquired full HD test footage. If all that sounds good you can order yours right now for around $429.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/22/asus-eee-pc-1015pn-gets-official-will-do-1080p-in-a-pinch/">ASUS Eee PC 1015PN gets official, will do 1080p in a pinch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 22 Oct 2010 08:12:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">When Intel released the details on its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/23/intel-debuts-dual-core-atom-n550-processor-70-million-atom-netb/">dual-core, mobile Atom N550 processor</a> earlier this week ASUS was one of the first to raise its hand with a netbook sporting the new CPU. Well, now we've got a few more details on the forthcoming Eee PC and unsurprisingly -- as <em>it</em> <em>is</em> coming from ASUS -- there appears to be a couple of different versions. The first is the 1015PEM, and according to <em>TechInStyle, </em>the small lappie will be powered by the new 1.5GHz N550 CPU, support up to 2GB of DDR3 RAM, and be &euro;349 ($440 US) when it hits the market. However, we've also heard from ASUS's North American team of the 1015PN, which will add <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/02/nvidia-ion-2-now-official-acer-asus-and-lenovo-at-the-ready/">NVIDIA's Ion 2 platform</a> to the mix and be landing stateside in September. Sounds like it could be one of the most powerful 10-inch netbooks to ever grace the planet, but unfortunately we don't have the exact specs and pricing on the latter one as of yet. Of course, as soon as we find out or see it hit Amazon we'll be reporting back.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> ASUS has gone and made the 1015PEM <a href="http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=4Bf6sc0o5FMGABzh">official</a>. Well, it did for a while, page seems to have been yanked. You'd think after running into ASUS's next generation <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/01/asus-eee-pc-1018p-and-1016p-quick-hands-on/">Eee PC 1018P and 1015PE</a> over five months ago at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/event/cebit-2010">CeBIT</a>, our excitement may have waned for the stylish netbooks. Oh, but it's actually the opposite, and when the brand new netbooks arrived last week, we grabbed the X-Acto knife (safely, of course) and eagerly unboxed them to see if the aluminum clad little laptops were as svelte as we'd remembered them. Sure, the $350 1018P and 1015PE have standard netbook internals (an Intel Atom N450 CPU, 1GB of RAM and Windows 7 Starter), but without a doubt they're some of the best quality netbooks ASUS has made in quite a while. Hit that read more link for an in-depth look at these two, and to see if they're all we had hoped for and more. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1018p-review/">ASUS Eee PC 1018P review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1018p-review/#3195833"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/eee-pc-1015pe01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1018p-review/#3195834"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/eee-pc-1015pe02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1018p-review/#3195835"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/eee-pc-1015pe03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1018p-review/#3195836"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/eee-pc-1015pe04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1018p-review/#3195837"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/eee-pc-1015pe05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1015pe-review/">ASUS Eee PC 1015PE review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1015pe-review/#3195873"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/eee-pc-1015pe01-1279813795_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1015pe-review/#3195874"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/eee-pc-1015pe02-1279813796_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1015pe-review/#3195875"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/eee-pc-1015pe03-1279813796_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1015pe-review/#3195876"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/eee-pc-1015pe04-1279813796_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1015pe-review/#3195877"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/07/eee-pc-1015pe05-1279813797_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/23/asus-eee-pc-1018p-and-1015pe-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>ASUS Eee PC 1018P and 1015PE review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/23/asus-eee-pc-1018p-and-1015pe-review/">ASUS Eee PC 1018P and 1015PE review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 23 Jul 2010 12:30:00 EST. So, here's the thing -- there's no denying that the Eee PC 1015T, based on model name alone, is brand new and heretofore unknown. But what's <em>really </em>under the hood? As the story goes, this here machine was spotted lurking in the rear of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ASUS/">ASUS</a>' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Computex/">Computex</a> booth, complete with a placard that informed us of its 10.1-inch glossy display (1,024 x 600), AMD <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/V105/">V105</a> processor, an ATI Radeon HD 4200 series GPU, room for 4GB of DDR3 memory, 250/320/500GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, optional Bluetooth 3.0, a 6-cell battery and a few color options. But strangely enough, it seems as if the hard drive had been completely wiped, with only a brief boot-up screen informing us that this machine was an engineering release meant not for public use, and that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NVIDIA/">NVIDIA</a> parts were within. Hmm. In all honesty, we're guessing that ASUS simply had to rush this particular unit out to make it before the show's start, but we wouldn't go placing bets either way -- for all we know, the final version will get outfitted with a Core i5, Ion 2, inbuilt WiMAX and a Vmedia drive. Yeah, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/15/acer-aspire-one-751-emerges-atom-n280-720p-panel-and-vmedia-dr/">a Vmedia drive</a>.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1015t-hands-on-at-computex-2010/">ASUS Eee PC 1015T hands-on at Computex 2010</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1015t-hands-on-at-computex-2010/#3046327"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/06/eee-pc-1015t-asus4745_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1015t-hands-on-at-computex-2010/#3046328"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/06/eee-pc-1015t-asus4746_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1015t-hands-on-at-computex-2010/#3046329"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/06/eee-pc-1015t-asus4747_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1015t-hands-on-at-computex-2010/#3046330"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/06/eee-pc-1015t-asus4748_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-1015t-hands-on-at-computex-2010/#3046331"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/06/eee-pc-1015t-asus4749_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/06/asus-eee-pc-1015t-strolls-into-computex-with-amd-v105-we-thin/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>ASUS Eee PC 1015T strolls into Computex with AMD V105... we think</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/06/asus-eee-pc-1015t-strolls-into-computex-with-amd-v105-we-thin/">ASUS Eee PC 1015T strolls into Computex with AMD V105... we think</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 06 Jun 2010 08:23:00 EST. Alright, stick with us here. For some reason, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ASUS/">ASUS</a> decided it best to name its freshest e-reader the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/31/asus-eee-tablet/">Eee Tablet</a>, while its downright magical tablet goes by <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/31/asus-eee-pad-ep101tc-and-ep121-hands-on/">Eee Pad</a>. Got all that? Good. The Eee Tablet (again, not to be confused with the Eee Pad tablet) is half e-reader, half note taker, and it's an interesting twist on a played product category. We took a few precious minutes to experiment with the device here on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Computex/">Computex</a> show floor, and overall, we like what we're seeing. Gone is the painfully slow E-Ink page refresh that Kindle owners are so accustomed to, with this particular LCD proving deliciously quick at changing screens. The only hang-up comes when you attempt to flip through too many pages, too fast -- we managed to harness a loading wheel on two occasions, both of which took around six or eight seconds to vanish and the next page to finally appear. We also confirmed that the screen only works with the included stylus, much like pen-enabled <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Wacom/">Wacom</a> tablets. That said, the bundled stylus was perfectly weighted, and the Eee Tablet responded well to our doodling. Speaking of weight, the model shown here in Taipei was shockingly heavy (at least iPad-level heavy), while the 10-inch EP101TC was markedly less hefty. Enough chatter -- have a look at our hands-on video just past the break. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-tablet-hands-on-at-computex-2010/">ASUS Eee Tablet hands-on at Computex 2010</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-tablet-hands-on-at-computex-2010/#3026894"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/05/asus-eee-tabletcomputex-20103721-1275298680_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-tablet-hands-on-at-computex-2010/#3026895"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/05/asus-eee-tabletcomputex-20103722-1275298686_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-tablet-hands-on-at-computex-2010/#3026896"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/05/asus-eee-tabletcomputex-20103723-1275298693_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-tablet-hands-on-at-computex-2010/#3026897"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/05/asus-eee-tabletcomputex-20103724-1275298699_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-tablet-hands-on-at-computex-2010/#3026898"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/05/asus-eee-tabletcomputex-20103725-1275298705_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/31/asus-eee-tablet-preview/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>ASUS Eee Tablet preview</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/31/asus-eee-tablet-preview/">ASUS Eee Tablet preview</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 31 May 2010 06:16:00 EST. When we found out that the Ion 2-packing <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/1201pn/">Eee PC 1201PNs</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/23/first-wave-of-ion-2-asus-eee-pc-1201pns-lack-nvidia-optimus/">lacked NVIDIA Optimus</a> tech for switching graphics hardware on the fly, well, it was a bit of a bummer to say the least. But, ASUS is at least fixing its successor, the Eee PC 1215. It's largely the same machine as the 1201, packing a dual-core Atom D510 processor and Ion graphics to complement the onboard graphics. This one, though, will have the Optimus hardware to switch betwixt the two, saving battery life all the while. The case has also been subtly refreshed but, most interestingly, ASUS saw fit to throw in a pair of USB 3.0 ports, their cerulean insides shining like beacons to guide us toward the future of high-speed file transfers. We're not sure when the 1215 is destined to hit retail and make the 1201PN obsolete, nor how much of a premium it will cost when it does, but there are plenty more pictures of the thing and even a few benchmarks at the source link.<br />

It ain't the first <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/EeePC/">Eee PC</a> we've seen <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/31/asus-eee-pc-1001px-has-a-thing-for-carbon-fiber-starts-at-279/">with a carbon fiber finish</a>, and if the second one in as many months is any indication, we get the feeling we could see quite a few more of these surface at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Computex/">Computex</a> in just a few weeks. The latest netbook from ASUS has found itself plastered on a German e-tailer's website, with the R101 proudly boasting a 1.66GHz Atom N450 processor, 250GB hard drive, a 10.1-inch LCD, native 1,024 x 600 resolution, Intel's GMA 3150 graphics and a battery that's good for 9.5 hours (if you use it sparingly, we're sure). The only other nugget we're made aware of is the &euro;299 ($379) price tag, but it's pretty obvious we won't be treated to a chiclet keyboard and a trackpad bar with a split in the middle. Fiddlesticks.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/12/asus-eee-pc-r101-surfaces-in-deutschland-with-atom-n450-carbon/">ASUS Eee PC R101 surfaces in Deutschland with Atom N450, carbon fiber flair</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 12 May 2010 06:47:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/01/asus-eeekeyboard-gets-really-really-official/">saga</a>, dear friends, is at an end. After making it to pre-order status <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/21/asus-eeekeyboard-up-for-pre-order-priced-at-599-in-the-states/">last month</a>, the EeeKeyboard is at long last ready for public consumption. Lest you've forgotten, this truly <em>all-in-one</em> pc comes with an Atom N270 inside, a gig of RAM, and old reliable Windows XP Home to keep you company. A 5-inch 800 x 480 multitouch display is supported by a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/broadcomcrystalhd">Broadcom Crystal HD</a> chip for decoding of high-def video, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/uwb">UWB</a> connectivity to wirelessly stream to a nearby HDTV, and a battery that promises four hours of autonomous use. Yours for only $599.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">We'd already gotten a good look at ASUS' forthcoming <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/29/asus-eee-pc-1218-trades-veil-of-secrecy-for-popular-design-award/">Eee PC 1218</a> courtesy of the Red Dot design awards, and <em>DigiTimes</em> is now reporting one of its key details: that it will indeed be Ion-based (we'd presume Ion 2, but that still remains unclear). What's more, the site has also offered some more confirmation of ASUS' Eee PC <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/28/asus-eee-pc-1015p-netbook-hits-the-fcc/">1015</a> / 1215, and says that ASUS will also be launching some new laptops on May 13th, including some bamboo-covered models and some "multimedia-enhanced models." In other ASUS news, the site also has a few choice quotes from the always talkative ASUS CEO <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/JerryShen/">Jerry Shen</a>, who repeated his assertion that netbooks will continue to outsell tablets, and further went on to get specific and say that ASUS expects to sell between seven and eight million Eee PCs in 2010, which would bring its global netbook market share to 20%.<br />

And just like that, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ASUS/">ASUS</a>' 20-inch Eee Top ET2010 is leaving the docks in the UK. This here machine made its official <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/31/asuss-20-inch-et2010-eeetop-models-with-ion-power-detailed/">debut</a> back in late March, but at the time, the company dished no details surrounding price or release. Fast forward to now, and we're told that the sleek all-in-one -- complete with an AMD Athlon II CPU, 1GB or 2GB of RAM, a DVD drive and a total depth of just one inch -- is now shipping across the pond. The multitouch version gets going at &pound;619.99, which means it should start to land on American shores shortly for around $600 to $700. Here's hoping, right? <br />

You've waited long enough, and now it's finally time for you to treat yourself to the HD-savvy <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/netbook/">netbook</a> you've been craving. You deserve it. You <em>really</em> do. Motivational speeches aside, ASUS would sure love for you to feel that way, as the company's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/08/asus-eee-pc-1005pr-packs-broadcom-crystal-hd-and-high-res-screen/">Eee PC Seashell 1005PR</a> has finally departed the "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/22/asus-eee-pc-1005pr-up-for-pre-order-400-for-your-own-hd-savvy/">coming soon</a>" stage -- according to ASUS, anyway. Amazon's product page still indicates that stock is incoming, but it seems as if the 10.1-inch machine should be filtering out to various sales channels as we speak. In case you've forgotten, $399.99 nets you an Intel Atom N450 processor, 250GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, a battery good for "11 hours" of life, a 1,366 x 768 resolution panel and Broadcom's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CrystalHD/">Crystal HD</a> accelerator. It's already gone up for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/21/asus-eeekeyboard-up-for-pre-order-priced-at-599-in-the-states/">pre-order</a> and been <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/22/asus-eee-keyboard-gets-unboxed/">unboxed</a>, but ASUS has only just now really, officially "launched" its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/eeekeyboard">EeeKeyboard</a>, completing a long, strange journey that began way back at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/asus-eee-keyboard-revealed/">CES 2009</a>. Since then, we've seen the keyboard PC get a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/14/asus-eee-keyboard-to-launch-by-end-of-june/">June launch date</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/15/video-asus-eee-keyboard-running-moblin/">run Moblin</a>, get an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/25/asus-eee-keyboard-now-on-track-for-august-launch/">August launch date</a>, get <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/08/video-asus-eee-keyboard-gutted-soldering-secrets-revealed/">gutted</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/31/eee-keyboard-tantalizingly-within-reach-at-the-fcc/">hit the FCC</a>, get an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/14/asus-eee-keyboard-to-launch-in-october-c64-fans-unite/">October launch date</a>, hit the FCC <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/12/eee-keyboard-splayed-detailed-by-fcc/">again</a>, get a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/04/asus-retools-eee-keyboard-swaps-in-capacitive-touchscreen/">capacitive touchscreen upgrade</a>, get a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/06/asus-eee-keyboard-gets-a-price-and-launch-date/">price and a February launch date</a>, get <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/02/asus-eeekeyboard-pc-delayed-again-now-shipping-in-april/">delayed</a>, lose a space, and get a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/09/asus-eeekeyboard-finally-shipping-at-the-end-of-april/">late-April launch date</a> before now finally launching... in May. Thanks for the memories, ASUS.<br />

Well, will you look at that. In its haste to proclaim itself winner of a 2010 Red Dot design award, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ASUS/">ASUS</a> has inadvertently or perhaps intentionally announced the brand-new netbook that received it -- the Eee PC 1218. She's a beaut, too, with a slim, one-piece aluminum shell that evokes the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/15/the-macbook-air/">MacBook Air</a> but still packs a substantial number of expansion ports. There aren't any hard specs quite yet, but the above shot shows it'll come with a webcam and chiclet keyboard, and in a second pic after the break we can make out three USB sockets, Ethernet, VGA, a pair of 3.5mm audio jacks and an HDMI port -- the last of which possibly suggests a dedicated GPU (here's hoping an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Ion2/">Ion 2</a>) for HD video playback. Oh, and lest we forget, ASUS says it's also got a soft-touch plastic underside, for all you coffee-swilling, netbook-slinging butterfingers out there. No word on pricing or availability. <p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/29/asus-eee-pc-1218-trades-veil-of-secrecy-for-popular-design-award/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>ASUS Eee PC 1218 trades veil of secrecy for popular design award</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/29/asus-eee-pc-1218-trades-veil-of-secrecy-for-popular-design-award/">ASUS Eee PC 1218 trades veil of secrecy for popular design award</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 29 Apr 2010 17:58:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">We already managed to go <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/04/asus-eee-pc-1015pe-1015p-and-1001pq-hands-on/">hands-on</a> with ASUS' <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/1015P">Eee PC 1015P</a> netbook at CeBIT back in March, but the company has been relatively quiet about it since then, and hasn't even offered so much as a hint of a release date. It looks like that could now be coming sooner rather than later, however, as the netbook has just passed through the FCC and left with its seal of approval. In case you missed it, the netbook itself is part of ASUS' Seashell line, and packs a 10.1-inch screen, an Atom N450 processor and, perhaps most notably, a promised 14 hours of battery life -- keyword "promised."</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/28/asus-eee-pc-1015p-netbook-hits-the-fcc/">ASUS Eee PC 1015P netbook hits the FCC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 28 Apr 2010 02:16:00 EST. A really good netvertible -- that's <em>all</em> we want. No, not just a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/16/hp-mini-5102-review/">netbook with a touchscreen</a>, but a device with a combination of solid ergonomics and performance in clamshell mode that can swivel into a really responsive tablet. It doesn't seem like too much to ask for, right? And after being disappointed by the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/10/lenovo-ideapad-s10-3t-review/">Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t</a>, we really thought the $499 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/eee+pc+t101mt/">ASUS Eee PC T101MT</a> -- with its multitouch screen, chiclet keyboard, and standard netbook organs -- could have been it. Keyword being <em>could</em>. But, as you may have guessed by now from our wistful tone, there are a few reasons this particular convertible netbook didn't turn out to be all peaches and cream. If you know what's good for you, you'll be hitting that read more link to find out what was this Eee lacking in our full review. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-t101mt-review/">ASUS Eee PC T101MT review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-t101mt-review/#2929898"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/04/eeepct101mtgal01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-t101mt-review/#2929899"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/04/eeepct101mtgal02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-t101mt-review/#2929900"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/04/eeepct101mtgal03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-t101mt-review/#2929901"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/04/eeepct101mtgal04-1272304905_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/asus-eee-pc-t101mt-review/#2929902"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/04/eeepct101mtgal05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/27/asus-eee-pc-t101mt-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>ASUS Eee PC T101MT review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/27/asus-eee-pc-t101mt-review/">ASUS Eee PC T101MT review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 27 Apr 2010 11:20:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">It's been quite a haul since ASUS <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/asus-eee-keyboard-revealed/">debuted</a> its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/EeeKeyboard/">Eee Keyboard</a> two CESes ago, but the device is now finally <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/09/asus-eeekeyboard-finally-shipping-at-the-end-of-april/">nearing</a> a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/21/asus-eeekeyboard-up-for-pre-order-priced-at-599-in-the-states/">release</a>, and the folks at <em>Netbook News</em> have now come through with one of the first unboxings of the final retail packaging. There's not many surprises left at this point, of course, but the packaging itself is at least suitably minimal, and also contains the Eee Keyboard's UWB receiver and antenna, along with a slew of different cables.
