While A Warm Memory is a Skyrim-based video, Erunno is a legend of WoW machinima. Plenty of WoW video creators have wondered off to other pastures, and while we can't track all of them, it's good to know that Erunno is still making fantastic videos. It's easy to chalk up the refined graphics to a more modern game engine, but Erunno's trademark eye for visuals and careful plotting are what really defines A Warm Memory. I fell in love with the narrator within a minute of the video's open. That dialogue feels warm and passionate; it's instantly convincing and believable. That's all it took for me to get hooked. I can't give away the story -- it's worth watching -- but Erunno's storytelling chops are clearly still here. Take the time watch it, and maybe beg him to come back to WoW. This story packs a punch. Dragon Slayers was created by Erunno for the Slovene community. The video is an homage to the Slayers anime, in case you don't recognize the style. English speakers can press the CC button on the YouTube player to see and read the subtitles. The animation in this video blew me away. Not only are the graphics smooth and convincing, Erunno did an outstanding job adapting a traditional anime style to WoW art. This really is a beautiful video to watch, and my hat's off to Erunno for his incredible skills. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Dragons are a big topic right now. They've become pests all through Azeroth and are bordering on a literal Cataclysm. The good news for you is that Frozen Death Knight and Erunno have a solution for you. They've put together a commercial for Bill Moneypouch's unparalleled product, Dragon be Gone. This video is short, sweet, and wonderfully executed. It was created for the Cataclysm commercial contest, but it does an amazing job of showing off how much Erunno and FDK can squeeze out of graphics. It's really amazing to watch, and the script is pretty funny. Check it out and let us know what you think. Interested in the wide world of machinima? • WoW Moviewatch: Not All Roleplay is Serious - Episode 3: 1N 3D

Nixxiom and Erunno have a series of hilarious shorts called Not All Roleplay is Serious. They're pretty awesome, and you can usually find them over at Myndflame. One of my favorites, though, is Not All Roleplay is Serious - Episode 3: 1N 3D. It's a very short video, clocking in at a minute and ten seconds. I've missed out on most of the 3D craze hitting mainstream movies. The glasses just give me a horrible headache. So while all of you folks are out rocking to Avatar in eye-popping 3D, I wait for it come out in DVD. So I was totally cheering for Nixxiom and Erunno when the deer paused, looked to the screen, and told us to pop on our glasses now. (This does mean I don't know if that 3D method worked.) Keep an eye out for further NARIS episodes. It's great stuff, and Nixxiom and Erunno are two of the best machinimators out there. You can't go wrong. Interested in the wide world of machinima? • WoW Moviewatch: Wardens of Azeroth part 2

We covered the first part of Erunno's Wardens of Azeroth yesterday, which makes today the day for Wardens of Azeroth part 2. Yesterday, I was focused on how its silent nature made the machinima feel more interactive to me. Since Erunno wasn't clearly spelling out every detail of the plot, the audience was left to fill out the story in their imagination. Today, I wanted to talk a little more about that. A huge part of any roleplay game is the role. And even if you're not a roleplayer, you still get a certain sense of your character and the story behind that character. The whole darn game is firmly rooted in the imagination. Machinimas like Wardens of Azeroth do more than just spin out their own tale. They encourage and empower the players themselves to embrace creativity when playing WoW, and really think about how the lore and characters all come together in a final piece of art. I don't know if that was Erunno's goal, of course, but that was certainly an affect of this movie. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! At this point, you must be familiar with the name Erunno. Not only is Erunno a popular blogger over at the Myndflame site, he's also a successful machinimator. He's been called the Uwe Boll of machinima with a tongue firmly planted in cheek, but I swear I had nothing to do with that. If you don't recall, though, Erunno was the machinimator behind the award-winning A Dead Bug's Life. This is part 1of Wardens of Azeroth, the prequel piece to his amazing The White Drake. Wardens breaks machinima standards by presenting a silent movie, encouraging the audience to frame and interpret the action on their own. In my opinion, Erunno's technique is actually creating a more interactive experience for the viewer. The viewer is forced to not only observe the action, but also to think about the story taking place. While we'll be featuring the second part of Wardens of Azeroth tomorrow, I'm especially curious to see what you folks think of just this first part. What is the story saying to you? How do you feel about the characters? Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? This is our second time talking about Frozen Deathknight, who worked with Erunno on an entry into Alienware's Rise to Power contest. This movie is Frozen's first solo machinima (at least, according to the video's soundtrack), and was created to be a 1 Minute Machinima Entry into Baron Soosdon's contest to win a StarCraft II machinima key. While we'd normally be covering the rest of the Rise to Power entries today, I wanted to take a break and remind folks that the Baron's contest ends this Friday. If you're looking to enter, you should get your video finished up and off to the gnome-master. Frozen's video soars, in my opinion, in terms of his voice acting. His voice work is smooth and interesting, and the language is very crisp and clear. That might sound like lame feedback, but a lot of machinima's voice-work can be very difficult to actually hear and understand. Frozen's soundtrack stands out in that regard. The video is a quick bit of fun. It's light-hearted, moves fast, and is worth every second you spend watching it. Sure, there's no blood elves rapping, but you have to take what you can get. Given Frozen's ability to frame a skit in such little time, I'm very interested to see what he might be doing next. Interested in the wide world of machinima? Today we feature the last of the European winners for Alienware's Rise to Power contest. A Dead Bug's Life is the creation of Erunno and Frozen DeathKnight, two of the luminaries who regularly post over on the Myndflame site. You should remember Erunno from his outstanding work with The White Drake, a movie that helped redefine visual storytelling in Wrath of the Lich King machinima. In contrast to the silent narrative in The White Drake, this Rise to Power movie had a great deal of dialogue. It displayed an amazing amount of wit and light-hearted characterization between the Lich King and Anub'arak. My favorite line was when Arthas complains how much fun it is to "constantly ressurect an oversized roach." I don't want to discuss the ending of the movie, since it would definitely give a significant spoiler. But let's say an old, ancient foe of the Alliance returns to join the Lich King's army. A Dead Bug's Life is a beautiful movie. The graphics are intriguing and well done, seamlessly integrating to the story. You can really see how A Dead Bug's Life won its prize. • WoW Moviewatch: Erunno's Christmas Story

Erunno's Christmas Story won the WoW Model Viewer Christmas contest. It's a comedy video about one elf's brave struggle to find gifts for a Christmas story. His adventure takes him across the world of Azeroth, and features a dozen or so cameos of other, well-known machinimators. Accord to Erunno over on his Myndflame post, he was experimenting with different techniques and styles from the anime industry. He wanted to take a look at how well those techniques would work out in machinima. I think Erunno nailed it pretty well, and I found the movie to be pretty fun and entertaining. Still, opinions will probably vary. I'm really curious to see how Erunno might use the styles in future videos, consider how well Erunno's Christmas Story seems to have succeeded. • WoW Moviewatch: The White Drake

Warning: There are spoilers in this review.Story-based machinima have been a little few and far between lately, so I was incredibly excited when I first spotted The White Drake by Erunno. According to the author, he actually started the film as a method for testing the power of his new computer. Since the movie was an experiment, he opted to not use any voice acting. I think that decision worked out incredibly well for him, as the movie's silent, somber mood is only enhanced by the lack of dialogue. The animation is very clean and crisp. I enjoy the layered look to the imagery, since it helps reinforce the stark contrast of the characters against their environment. The story itself is tight and simple, providing a concise narrative payload. To sum up, something is amiss in the Argent Crusade, and an assassin must sneak into the camp to set things right. He executes his mission, and then makes good his escape. As the movie closes, Chromie, the coolest dragon in lore, makes an appearance to congratulate the assassin. This is another great piece by Erunno. If this was just a test of his computer, I look forward to what he might do in the future when he really puts some effort into it.[Via WarcraftMovies.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch

  • WoW Moviewatch: Darkness II

There's a lot going on in Darkness II by Erunno. It's a longer, story driven piece. According to the author, this installment is a continuation of the first Darkness. (Thus, "II".)The animation is ample and sufficient for the story-driven purpose of the machinima. While one can always look for more graphic enhancements, sometimes that flash and funk can actually detract from the story that's being told. I think Erunno hit a pretty sweet spot with "Darkness II," by providing a little embellishment (via Model Viewer), but without spending all of his time and energy and on the special effects. I could have used a slightly faster pacing, personally, but that's entirely a matter of my own preference. Some of the dialogue felt a little forced to me, but that was rare. Overall, "Darkness II" is just a fairly high end piece, which I'd recommend checking out.If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...
