All of the main Final Fantasy games available on the Switch are on sale for 40 to 50 percent off, and titles from Square Enix's other RPG series like Romancing Saga and Star Ocean have been discounted as well. Gamers may want to revisit Final Fantasy VII in particular -- down from $15.99 to $7.99 -- since the game's highly anticipated remake will finally be out on April 10th.

Ahead of Super Bowl LIV on Sunday, you'll be able to replay the original 1987 release of Tecmo Bowl when it comes out on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch tomorrow. Not to be confused with the NES version most people associate with the game, the $8 Arcade Archives rerelease that's making its way to the PlayStation Store and eShop this week features a mere two teams -- the Wildcats and Bulldogs -- and no licensed players. So, no, you can't use Bo Jackson to demolish your friends and family members.

Nintendo eShop sale includes big discounts for Mario Kart and Yoshi

Nintendo has your back if you need more games for that Switch you got during the holidays. It's running an eShop New Year Sale from now until January 16th with significant deals on many notable games, and not just its own. Among Nintendo-badged titles, you'll see Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Yoshi's Crafted World and Hyrule Warriors among those dropping from the usual $60 to an easier-to-justify $42. You won't see bargains for some of the hotter Nintendo games (Luigi's Mansion 3 and Breath of the Wild come to mind), but it's still a good way to score games you might have otherwise overlooked.

How to find the best deals on Switch games in Nintendo's eShop

If you're anything like us, you've already enjoyed two wonderful years with your Nintendo Switch, and there's no end to the honeymoon phase in sight. Though you're probably sinking way too much time into trying to win a round of Tetris 99 right now, between Nintendo's first-party classics and the eShop's vast catalog of celebrated indie titles, there's always something new to play. This endless supply can take a toll on the finances, though, especially when the same game is often more expensive on the Switch than it is on PCs and other consoles. But there is a way to save a few bucks here and there by buying games at their cheapest, and making your money go further is simply a case of shopping around.

Nintendo is going to court over its refund policy

Apparently, Germany agrees with Norway: Nintendo's no-refund pre-order policy isn't only harsh, it's also illegal under European law. According to Eurogamer, the German Consumer Protection Authority is taking Nintendo to court over a policy that doesn't allow pre-order cancellations, even if the game hasn't been released yet and even if you still haven't downloaded it. In short, all sales, including pre-purchases, are final -- and, yes, Nintendo of America has the same rule.

‘Guacamelee’ lands on the Switch today, sequel to follow in December

DrinkBox Studios, the team behind the excellent Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition and Guacamelee 2, have announced that both games will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, with the former out on the Nintendo eShop today. Guacamelee is a side-scrolling, beat-em-up platformer that doesn't only run to the right. Like the Metroid or Castlevania series that inspired it, power-ups are used to explore previously inaccessible areas giving the world a circular cohesion. This style of game design is often referred to as "metroidvania." The reason fans and critics have gravitated towards Guacamelee is not only for its excellent game design, but for its vibrant lineless art and difficult, but rewarding, melee gameplay. You can pick up Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition, which includes all previously released DLC, for $15. After you finish Guacamelee, we also suggest you pick up DrinkBox's fourth game, Severed, released earlier this year on Switch for $15. Guacamelee 2 is slated to come out on Switch this December and is already out on PlayStation 4 and PC.

Very few people would add The Lion's Song in their Nintendo Switch wish list, but those who would now only have to wait a few more days. The critically acclaimed point-and-click adventure title by Austrian indie developer Mipumi Games is set in a sepia-toned early 20th century version of the company's native country. It features four episodes, each about a different character with creative and brilliant minds. One of them is a musician working on her composition before a big performance, another is an artist who sees the layers of someone's personality, while the other is a female mathematician who was turned down by a renowned math group due to her gender.

In a rare move for the venerable video game company, Nintendo has just put together a sale in honor of E3 on "select digital games" for both its Switch and 3DS consoles. While the company promises up to a 50% discount, you won't find deep discounts on games you probably want, like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for $45 and Splatoon 2 for $40, both of which typically retail for $60. The sale ends June 21st at 8:59 AM PT or 11:59 AM ET.

Nintendo has been keen to capitalize on nostalgia, however, its latest attempt has us scratching our heads. Next week the Switch will have a football game to call its own, but rather than, say, a classic Madden, Mutant League Football from EA or Tecmo Bowl, we're getting 10-Yard Fight for $7.99. The game originally appeared on the NES back in 1985, a two-year delay after its arcade debut.

Nintendo will convert Gold Points into Switch game discounts

If you buy a lot of Switch games, good news — Nintendo is about to reward you with some discounted software. The company announced in a blog post today that you'll soon be able to spend Gold Points — earned by purchasing Nintendo games — on Switch software in the eShop. Each Gold Point is worth one British pence, which means you'll need to buy a lot of games (a £40 game on the eShop will net you 200 Gold Points, or £2) before you can get something substantial for free. It's a similar story in the US; a $50 purchase will net you 250 Gold Points, or $2.50. If you don't have enough points, you can always make up the difference with regular cash.
