Façade turns 10 in July. Archaic as Michael Mateas and Andrew Stern's interactive drama is after a decade, it remains one of the most distinctive experimental video games ever made. Even with scores of dramatic indies and more technologically advanced games filling the intervening years, Façade remains discomfitingly human. The premise is simple: you walk into a couple's apartment for a dinner date. They are on the verge of complete relationship collapse. Whatever happens next -- what you talk about, what you do -- is entirely in your hands as the artificial intelligence reacts. It's like Siri via Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
