Final Fantasy IV on the DS is still expected at the end of July and GameTrailers has put together a nice little preview video of the title. We definitely have to agree with GT that the $40 game feels like way more than a port of the Final Fantasy II we remember. It's pretty clear some work went into the title beyond giving it graphical Botox injections. Check out the video and let us know what you think. Gallery: Final Fantasy IV

Square Enix sent word by airship today that Final Fantasy II Final Fantasy IV is ready for its 3D re-envisioning on July 22 in North America. This DS version of Final Fantasy IV -- beyond the graphical upgrade -- also features some fully voiced cutscenes and added content. It appears Nintendo Power was right on the money with a July release -- as one would hope they would be. Other upgrades the title boasts are a remixed score by composer Nobuo Uematsu and "head-to-head battle" via local wireless. The game will retail for $40 and certainly makes for the perfect game to avoid conversation during the end-of-summer family road trip. Gallery: Final Fantasy IV

Contrasting the absolutely wicked, gameplay-filled trailer that we received last week for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, the Final Fantasy IV DS video Square Enix posted at the title's teaser site today is pretty light on action. The CG scenes, dramatic soundtrack, and breathy voice-over serve the story-driven RPG well, but if you're looking to see some combat or world map travel, you won't find much satisfaction here. The tail end of the clip hints that we'll be seeing the game's release before year's end, so plan your budget accordingly. Hop a ride on an airship, and sail past the post break for the 3D remake's two-minute movie.
