The official WoW forums have gotten a minor update today, confirmed with a blue post by CM Nethaera. The new format has several tweaks and changes, but the largest by far is the font -- posts and headers are now showing with much larger text both in the posts themselves, and in quoted text. Quotes are now a lighter shade of gray, and character portraits have been re-sized as well. The updates appear to be slightly more in-depth than graphics, however. In addition to the font changes, it seems as though the option to view the forums in Simple or Advanced view has been removed, along with the ability to link items in posts. Along with this change, the My Realms option to switch between only those forums on which you have playable characters has vanished. For now, players will have to scroll through the entire list of realms to locate a particular realm. If you can't see any changes, or if the forums are displaying incorrectly on your browser, you may want to try clearing your cache or refreshing the page. At the moment, there doesn't appear to be an official thread for feedback or to report any technical issues with the new forums. Although the removal of some features may be a little disconcerting, it might be possible that some of these changes are unintended, or that we'll see some of the more popular options make a return. What do you think of the facelift? Is it easier to read, or did you like the original version better? Are there features you'd like to see working again?

We've learned that new forum icons are available today for level 80 players. Not that anyone is level 80 yet, and not that you can actually post in the forums. But they're there and we have compiled them into a gallery for your easy viewing pleasure.I like the Alliance ones the best. Some of the Horde ones seem rather underwhelming. The forums recently underwent an upgrade to Wrath of the Lich King graphics, and are now all nice and icy blue. The zombies even invaded the forums for a brief time, but it seem they have been driven back. %Gallery-36746%

  • EVE Online forum revamp may lead to disappearing threads

The last week or so in EVE Online has seen the forums set ablaze with Ghostbusters references, but now it may be some threads which are disappearing. CCP Wrangler posted a note about this today on the EVE site, reminding us of a dev blog from August, Forums Refined, which had stated that some significant changes to the forums were on the way. Well, as anyone who's logged into the official EVE Online forums today found out, those changes have arrived. While it'll take a little time to get used to the new layout and categorization of topics, there may be an issue with players not being able to find their old threads, some of which have been moved with the forum revamp. CCP Wrangler addressed the potential confusion this might cause, and had this to say: "If you had a thread that has disappeared due to these changes, for example if the forum no longer exists, please contact us by creating a petition in the Other Issues - Forums category. Please include a direct link to the thread in question if you have one, otherwise you have to include as much information about the thread as possible to help us find it. The name of the forum, the name of the thread and anything else you can remember would be very helpful."
