One of my favorite things to do on a sunny day is go to Hyde Park and play Frisbee with some friends. However, after playing Frisbee Forever, the officially licensed Frisbee game, playing real-life Frisbee doesn't seem as fun anymore. Frisbee Forever is a universal game for the iPad and iPhone that allows users to hone their Frisbee skills on more than 100 obstacle courses. Flick the Frisbee to start, then tilt your iDevice to guide it through hoops, past wind turbines and through tunnels, collecting as many stars as you can along the way. Once you have enough stars and experience, you can unlock other levels, including an amusement park, the Old West and the Caribbean. You can also unlock bonus levels along the way that offer some more challenging courses, and you can upgrade your Frisbee's design. The only thing this game is missing is Game Center support. However, since it's free, there's no reason not to download this game.

If there's one thing the iPhone needs -- and we mean exactly one thing -- it's clearly a Frisbee app. Er, Frisbee® app. Not a legitimate Gmail app. Not a new notification system. A Frisbee® app. As the story goes, Wham-O has linked hands with Kiloo in order to develop the Frisbee Forever app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, which is said to offer avid iOS gamers "unique challenges and obstacles in a rich complete 3D environment." What kind of challenges, you say? We're hearing that you'll be able to toss a variety of Frisbee models across 100 levels of lush, colorful worlds, but beyond that, most everything else is shrouded in mystery. All will be revealed in May, but till then, we'd encourage you to step outside and actually throw a Frisbee. We hear dogs are super into fetching them, too.

  • FrisMe: the ludicrously expensive, totally customizable 3D printed Frisbee

We're guessing that the fine folks over at i.materialise are shying away from the trademarked Frisbee term, but there's no question about what this is -- it's a Frisbee, but one that's completely customizable. Better still, it's crafted from a 3D printer. Better still, you can do just about anything with this thing if you've got the disposable income to justify it. A standard FrisMe would be $215, and a customized version with your initials and choice of texture would add a $15 surcharge. Looking for silver, gold or chrome plating, or a custom hand painting? How's about a Scan FrisMe that's designed according to a 3D scan on your own paw? Around $1,300, and that's not including your travel to Leuven, Belgium. Head on past the break to see one in action, and feel free to consider the cost of an actual 3D printer before scoffing too hard at the asking prices.

We're big fans of Ultimate Frisbee or even frisbee golf, but we'd probably want to keep our loved ones away from this flying disc. The US Air Force has just awarded a grant to military contractor Triton Systems to develop a "Lethal Frisbee UAV," which can be launched from a device like a skeet launcher and operated by remote control or autonomously. According to the grant abstract, the Lethal Frisbee UAV's ultimate goal is to locate fortified foes and, to "provide precision fires to neutralize these hostiles." You know, come to think of it, this Lethal Frisbee reminds us a lot of this dude we know who's got a mean throw -- gets us in the face every damned time.[Via DefenseTech]
