The Big Four (that'd be Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T) have all confirmed that they'll be stocking Samsung's newly-introduced Galaxy Gear and Galaxy Note 3, but none of 'em have been bold enough as to give us two precious details: pricing and availability. We're still waiting for the damage, but VZW has come forward and alerted its customers that pre-orders will open up on September 6th. Given that the Note 3 just sailed through the FCC (and that the Gear is due to land in October), we're guessing that you'll have to wait anywhere from one to eight weeks for shipment. We'll keep you posted if we hear anything more concrete. Follow all of our IFA 2013 coverage by heading to our event hub!

  • Samsung exec confirms Galaxy Gear and Note III announcement on September 4th as images start to leak (updated)

The cat's out of the bag, and a rogue Samsung executive is the one who's been untying the strings. During a chat with the Korea Times, Samsung's Lee Young-hee blabbed that we'd see both the Galaxy Gear and the Galaxy Note III being announced at IFA on September 4th. The mobile VP added that the oft-rumored "wearable concept device" wouldn't come with a flexible display and will be a companion gadget for your smartphone -- but declined to offer any more detail about what we can expect from the flagship phablet. Never mind, however, because pictures purporting to be of the Galaxy Note III's front have emerged over on HD Blog, and you can catch a full gallery down at the source. Update: Here's even more pictures purporting to be of the Note III from ETradeSupply. The site is claiming that the third generation device will measure in at 5.69-inches. [Thanks, Lucas]

  • Samsung Galaxy Note III camera rumored to pack 4K video capture, high-quality audio playback

What are you going to add to a smartphone series that's already gone big-screen, already has a stylus and already offers up a decent battery life? According to the Korea Economic Daily, Samsung believes adding a heavy-duty camera upgrade to 4K should do the trick. The news site's source (identified as an "industry official" rather than a Samsung employee), says the Galaxy Note III, which is likely to make its debut at IFA 2013, will be able to record video in Ultra High Definition. It's a significant pixel boost from the 1080p video capture available to last year's Galaxy Note II. The company is likely hoping that offering up an opportunity to record in 4K will mean those smartphone owners are then more likely to upgrade their TV sets (to a Ultra HD Samsung model, naturally) to make the most of their crisp video content. Alongside a new camera, the same source reckons that audio quality will be bumped up to 24-bit, like LG's G2 and a step above the 16-bit audio tech in Samsung's existing Galaxy phones. No word on the previous notion of three differently-sized models and as the source material has gone through the Google Translate grinder, things aren't as clear as we'd have hoped. However, the Korea Economic Daily has past form when it comes to Samsung news. Next week, we're sure to hear all the finer details and we're taking bets on which company will be the first to claim "world's first".

The second installment of Samsung's 2013 "Unpacked" event series is scheduled for the first Wednesday in September, just before the annual IFA consumer electronics show kicks off in Berlin. As the sketched invite above confirms, the Galaxy Note III will undoubtedly be the star of this show, which is set to begin at 7PM local time (1PM ET) on September 4th. We'll of course be there to cover the festivities live from the German capital, and Samsung's promised to provide a YouTube livestream feed that you can follow along with as well.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note III may come in three screen sizes: 5.5, 5.7 and 6 inches

It's no secret that Samsung's working on a next-gen Galaxy Note, but little did we know that it might come in three screen sizes. We've previously seen the model number SM-N900 pop up in a number of places, and this time, our friend @techkiddy spotted the screen sizes alongside some new names on Zauba, a database that somehow tracks India's import and export shipments. Unlike the rumors out there that only mention a single screen size, Zauba lists all 5.5-, 5.7- and 6-inch versions of this supposed Note III, and that these are all shipped to India "for R&D purpose." If true, this would match the multi-size strategy of the Galaxy Mega. Additionally, there are a handful of variant names here: SM-N900A, SM-N900AI, SM-N900P, SM-N900R4, SM-N900S, SM-N900T and SM-N900V. We're not quite sure what the differences are, but some of these are tagged with multiple screen sizes, so they're probably just packaged with different radios. Regardless, we have a feeling that JK Shin will tell us everything at IFA in September. Update: Adam from Samsung Updates has explained what these model numbers mean. Go take a look.

  • Samsung SM-N900 model numbers surface, hint at future Galaxy Note

Samsung is reportedly working on its third Galaxy Note smartphone in as many years, but there's been little in the way of official details. Thanks to some digging round the web, though, a few model numbers have come to light. Samsung's own user agent profiles mention two new Note family members, the SM-N900A and SM-N900T, both of which carry 1080p screens. Some extra sleuthing at an Indian importer has also revealed references to a root SM-N900 device as well as P, S, V and R4 variants. Unfortunately, there isn't much more to know -- while the naming schemes likely reflect different carriers and regions, there's no tangible clues as to where each model belongs. If some of these numbers resurface in the near future, however, we won't be surprised.

  • Samsung official reportedly confirms Note III in the works, muses on potential camera upgrades

Given the success of the original Galaxy Note and its sequel, there's little doubt a third installment of the super-sized handset line is on Samsung's to-launch list. Korean site ETNews claims to have heard the first legitimate confirmation of the Note III's existence, however, citing a Samsung official as its source. The insider apparently had much to say on plans for the camera, too. It's expected to be a 13-megapixel affair and could see other upgrades over its predecessor, including optical image stabilization and 3x optical zoom. According to the official, no final decisions on the camera have been made yet, but with less than four months to go until IFA (where the previous Notes have debuted), it's probably time to start nailing those specs down.

  • Samsung Galaxy S 4 Game Pad supports 6.3-inch devices, raises eyebrows

We noticed that Samsung's planned Game Pad accessory has an expanding clamp designed to accommodate screen sizes larger than the 5-inch Galaxy S 4 being used as its showcase, but it wasn't clear just how far it would go. Now that there's an official accessory page on the GS4's microsite, Samsung is unusually specific about the limit: 6.3 inches. That's an odd choice of display dimension, as it's bigger than the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II and smaller than the 7-inch Galaxy Tab line. Samsung could just be hedging its bets, so we wouldn't make too many presumptions. It's often wise to give yourself a little headroom. However, a 6.3-inch screen would dovetail with unconfirmed Korea Times rumors that the next-generation Galaxy Note phone would use a similar size and give the 6.1-inch Ascend Mate a run for its money. We won't be convinced until we can see such a device for ourselves -- for all we know, it could be an extra-tiny version of a future Galaxy Tab.
