In 2012, South Korean singer PSY took the world by storm with his "Gangnam Style" music video, which eventually turned into a super, mega hit and an overall internet sensation. Along the way, the video also became the first one ever to get to 1 billion views on YouTube, a number that hasn't stopped growing since being reached. Speaking of which, the Google-owned service revealed that "Gangnam Style" pushed the original view counter to its limits, so much so that it stopped counting at one point. "We never thought a video would be watched in numbers greater than a 32-bit integer [2,147,483,647 views], but that was before we met PSY," YouTube stated in a blog post.

  • WoW Moviewatch: Pandaren Style

We've seen a couple of Gangnam Style parodies on WoW Moviewatch at this point. They all had their charms but personally, I'm still holding out for a Gangnam Style parody which combines a perfect execution of lyrics, music, and machinima .... One parody to rule them all, you could say. (23 days left, by the way!) For now though, we must wait. But in the interim, we have today's machinima, which I think is a step in the right direction. The music from the original song has gone mostly untouched, but the accompanying animation is astonishingly well-done. Who knew a pandaren could show so much expression when screaming at a girl's butt? I'm no 3D animation expert, but I'd guess this is the work of all those extra "bones" the pandaren models have. Amazing stuff. It may also be of some interest to know that the creator of today's machinima, Animpinabox, also made the old video World of Warcraft: Dancing. If you've never seen it, World of Warcraft: Dancing features the dances of several character races and NPCs alongside the footage that may have originally inspired Blizzard developers. It's a classic machinima, so be sure to check it out if you've never seen it. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go dig out my old Alizée albums.

We just met Dance Central 3 and this is crazy, but how about some DLC details, maybe? Harmonix tells us the downloadable content for the latest installment in its dance franchise will include Psy's international phenomenon, "Gangnam Style," and the inescapable "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen. The former was announced last week for Just Dance 4.Other artists in the DLC pipeline include Justin Bieber, One Direction and LMFAO. Harmonix notes the tracks include the "authentic choreography," so don't worry about missing out on some saddle dancing during "Gangnam Style." Specific release dates will be announced "in the coming months."

Ubisoft announced this morning that "Gangnam Style" will be available as downloadable content for Just Dance 4 this November. The song, which has become an international phenomenon, has nearly 500 million views on YouTube. On that note, Psy is quoted as saying, "Gangnam Style and Just Dance 4, I can't wait to see all the YouTube videos." Spoiler: It's going to be a lot of people doing the horse dance. One of the words that doesn't show up in Ubisoft's announcement is "exclusive." We've reached out to Harmonix to find out if it's also working on some Gangnam Style for Dance Central 3.Update: We checked with Ubisoft to see if the DLC included the moves from the famous music video or simply had new choreography."The chorus of the song has the precise moves from Gangnam Style," a Ubisoft spokesperson informed Joystiq. "The verses highlight some of the video's moves but also include [Just Dance 4] moves."

  • Caption Contest: Eric Schmidt does 'Gangnam Style' with PSY

Did you honestly think Eric Schmidt went all the way to Seoul just to launch the Nexus 7 for South Korea, hang out with Samsung's JK Shin and moan about the patent war with Apple? Of course not. The Google chairman also found some time to learn the legendary "invisible horse" dance with PSY, the charismatic oppa in the Korean chart-topper Gangnam Style. While Google Korea was happy to supply a few photos, the only video we could dig up was a surprisingly short one hosted by Daum -- it's embedded right after the break. Brian: "Man, not being the CEO of a multinational corporation sure is hard work." Terrence: "I see you are a fellow disciple of the Carlton Banks school of dance." Don: "Gangnam Style, 2012-2012." Billy: "This song is really about the time I set my socks on fire. I see you still have yours. One moment." Edgar: "Hm... I think we forgot the horse." Richard Lai: "OK Eric, now let's do the elevator scene." Dan: "Doenjang Girls, would you like to buy a Nexus 7? It's wayyy more expensive than a latté." Darren: "Soooo glad this guy put this video on YouTube and not Vimeo. $$$$$$$$" Jon Fingas: "Oppan Google sty-- no, even I can't go that far."

  • WoW Moviewatch: Warcraft style

Work warning: Skimpy clothing on character avatars. Nothing you can't see on mainstream TV but you know how Black Mageweave is. You'll see a couple of these this week. It's not my fault. It's topical. It's pop culture, see. Even more importantly, though, the two videos are interesting in their own way. They both just happen to be based on Gangnam Style. In Warcraft style, Miss Mumulawl put together a parody video using in-game graphics and lots of footage. While the audio is just the original song, I definitely appreciate the fan love put into creating this parody. It definitely looks like a lot of players had a lot of fun putting this together. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
