ASUS's PadFone hybrid Android tablet/phone series, weird as it is, seems to have found itself a niche. As such, the Taiwanese outfit looks ready to launch a new model, the PadFone Mini, according to a listing in the Global Certification Forum (GSF). That jibes with CEO Jerry Shen's earlier comments (translated) and a GFX Bench leak that showed Android 4.3, 960 x 540 phone resolution and a quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU. The tablet part was rumored to be 7-inches, but another listing at Taiwan's NCC showed that, based on the weight, it could be bigger than that. We should find out soon either way, but you may be disappointed if you're looking for 4G speeds -- unless there's another model, the GSF listing shows 3G radios only. Update: Well that was quick. Our brethren over at Engadget Chinese have just received an invitation -- pictured above -- for the PadFone Mini launch in Taipei next Wednesday. The little drawing at the bottom left of the invitation seems to confirm the smaller docking station as well. Stay tuned for more.

If you've been holding out for HTC's forthcoming Verizon-bound 5-inch Galaxy Note rival, congratulations -- your patience may soon pay off. A listing at the Global Certification Forum reveals the hotly-tipped HTC6435LVW uses Big Red's LTE bands, while the folks over at Blog of Mobile think it'll be renamed as the Droid Incredible X for its network debut. Still, given that the holiday buying season is narrowing with each passing day, we think Lowell McAcam had better hurry up.

LTE isn't quite as wide spread in the Old World as it is over here in the western hemisphere but, as many European countries race to get their 4G deployed, top notch devices are already starting to roll in. The GT-P7320, better known as the Galaxy Tab 8.9, just passed through the Global Certification Forum, bound for unspecified EU nation. This particular model supports both HSPA on the 900MHz and 2100MHz bands, and LTE over 800MHz and 2.6GHz. Carrier, release date, price -- pretty much everything about the device's debut is a mystery at this point. But, with Mobile World Congress just a couple of weeks away, we're sure it won't hold on to its secrets for long.

  • Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus approved for European vacation

With Palm's Pre Plus (model P101) and Pixi Plus (model P121) already granted US domicile by their FCC host, it's only natural that they'd seek adventure elsewhere before getting serious and going to work for AT&T. Now the Global Certification Forum (GFC) has approved what must be the European versions of Palm's Plus handsets: models P101UEU and P121UEU. Both are quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as dual-band UMTS/HSDPA on the 2100/900MHz frequencies. Now if only Palm could get a few more carriers and countries on board it might actually move some meaningful device quantities in Europe.

  • HTC XV6975 picks up GCF approval en route to Verizon

If you're holding out for a Touch Pro2 on Verizon... well, we really don't want to jump the gun and say that your wait won't be much longer -- the original Touch Pro just launched last November -- but signs of a XV6975 in a major certifying body are certainly a step in the right direction. We've heard from our sources that the XV6975 is going to be the go-to-market model number used by Verizon for its version of the Touch Pro2, and the Global Certification Forum has just gone ahead and approved precisely that model. If you're wondering what's up with all the mentions of GSM and HSDPA, wonder not -- like Telus, Verizon will be getting a global device for the business-minded folk that are likely to be latching onto this thing. Add in a 3.5mm jack and it's just a bag of awesome, isn't it?[Via the::unwired]Update: We're being told by commenters Yums and Verizon Tester that this'll actually be the Touch Diamond2 -- probably not as hotly-anticipated as the Pro2, but still a nice little device to have nonetheless (especially with a global radio thrown in). Guess we'll have to wait and see how this shakes out.

  • HTC Hero approved by Global Certification Forum, rocking GSM and HSPA

We're unfortunately light on details here, but The Unwired is reporting that HTC's Hero has been approved by the Global Certification Forum, listed here as "HERO100," with support for quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dualband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 1800/2100 MHz. With the company's touted London event just around the corner -- this Wednesday, to be exact -- we wouldn't be surprised to see the phone and its oft-rumored "Rosie" Android UI take center stage, in possibly two variations. Other than frequency bands and the associative name, the GCF isn't giving us anything else to work with, so for now just sit back and hope this uncertainty is cleared up sooner rather than later.

  • Mysterious HTC XV6175 slinks towards Verizon Wireless

So, what's this we have here? Over at the always-telling Global Certification Forum, we've stumbled upon a new HTC handset that's obviously headed for Verizon Wireless airwaves. The XV6175 namesake gives it away, but the smattering of GSM bands draws us to conclude that we're looking at a CDMA / GSM worldphone. So yeah, if you're one that thrives on speculation, why not take a peek at HTC's rumored 2009 lineup and try to put two and two together? Godspeed.[Via WMPowerUser]
