Microsoft goes gold with special edition Lumia 830 and 930
Microsoft has jumped on that hot new gold-hued phone craze with special edition models of its Lumia 830 and 930 handsets. Yes, we're mocking Redmond a bit for being late to a nearly two-year old trend, but we'd add that the subtle gold accenting on the phones' edges actually looks great. Both are at the top of the Lumia food chain and still sport Nokia branding, which Microsoft already dropped on the Lumia 535. It no doubt introduced the new models to maintain interest and sales in its top models, since it may not introduce a new flagship anytime soon. Alas, they're limited to Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa for now, with no sign that they'll come to North America. Prices will vary by operator, but the Nokia 830 and 930 run about $400 (€330) and $580 (€500), respectively.

Total War Shogun 2 gold edition coming March 5
Total War: Shogun 2 is getting the "Gold Edition" treatment, Sega recently announced. Assassin's Creed 3 Gold Edition and Liberation flash sale on PSN this weekend
PlayStation Network is hosting a flash sale for Assassin's Creed 3 and Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation this weekend. The sale discounts the games by 35%, and also includes a bundle for both games at 50% off.This weekend, Assassin's Creed 3 can be bought for $38.99, with the Gold Edition on sale for $58.49. Liberation costs $23.39, while a bundle including both Liberation and Assassin's Creed 3 Gold Edition is $59.99. The Gold Edition of the game includes a season pass for the game's DLC offerings.
All Serious Sam titles 75% off on Steam this weekend
No, seriously, every Serious Sam HD game is seriously 75 percent off all this weekend on Steam -- meaning Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter for $3.74, The Second Encounter for $4.99, and the recently released Gold Edition for $10 (which includes both remakes and the originals). This deal is unfortunately exclusive to PC Steam gamers, as the titles have yet to receive the Mac treatment. And that's seriously a shame, isn't it?
Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition to get Move patch; original RE5 can't
If you're anything like us, you've been waiting diligently for the motion controller-enabled version of 2009's Resident Evil 5, hoping for a chance to battle zombies (and explore the additional content) using Sony's PlayStation Move. A recent posting on the PlayStation Blog by Sony's Sid Shuman indicates that only folks who own the Gold Edition of RE5 will be receiving the Move-enabling patch "close to the launch of the PlayStation Move." "This will only work with RE5 copies labeled 'Gold Edition' -- the original version of RE5 won't be receiving the patch, for technical reasons," Shuman says, additionally noting that the patch itself will become available on PSN "close to the launch of the PlayStation Move." Not into patches? Too bad! No, no, just joshin' -- apparently all retail versions of RE5's Gold Edition will come with the patch on-disc after Move's official release. Also, you should probably get in on the whole "internet" thing.

LotRO gets gold edition, Europe only
All that is gold does not glitter -- unless you happen to live in Europe. As of this week, Lord of the Rings Online: Gold Edition is now available across Europe, but it's been confirmed as exclusive to the region.The Gold Edition contains all the bells & whistles you'd expect: a Book 11 version of the game with a 45 day subscription, three unique in-game items for use in the Book 11 Housing, and a unique in-game mount -- the Bree Horse.But what's slightly unusual is that you can use the new mount a full ten levels earlier than you gain the Riding trait in LotRO, without paying a dime for it. Admittedly, the Bree Horse comes with different stats -- but it still must be a little vexing to those outside of Europe.Is the Gold Edition going to be enough to convince you to pick up LotRO?
